Un lugar espectacular si viajas solo y quieres conocer gente, el staff es tremendo, muy simpáticos todos y siempre dispuestos a ayudar, el hostal es comodo, limpio y tiene todo lo que necesitas, ademas la ubicación es excelente, muy cerca de todo. Sin duda volvería mil veces, el mejor lugar donde me he quedado en japon. Gracias!

On se sent comme chez soi. C’est un bel endroit pour prendre le temps de découvrir la très belle ville de Kyoto.

Reviewed Jun 24, 2026This is one of my favorite hostels/hotels in the world. I love the interior design and architecture (as a designer myself). The staff is amazingly friendly. The coffee, bar, breakfast are all top notch - very intentional and served with care. The location is nicely away from the most touristy parts of Kyoto, but a quick walk. The social aspect of the cafe and bar really make traveling alone less lonely. I love this place! I stayed in a private room and the architectural details are excellent, the room is spacious, and the bathrooms/showers are clean and convenient.

Not very clean, a strong musty smell in the bedroom that made my stay unpleasant & gave me a cough. Also heavy mould in the bathroom - although the bathrooms on 3rd floor were cleaner (I stayed on 2nd floor)

It is incredibly noisy, they provide earplugs but the location is on such a busy street and the building is so badly constructed that you don't stand a chance at sleeping, even with earplugs in. You can see the gap in the window even when it is fully closed. Booked a private room, it was absolutely barebones - very disappointing.

強いていうなら冷蔵庫が部屋にないのは不便だなと感じた。ただその他のサービスの良さと価格を考えると全く気にすることじゃない。

Reviewed Jun 13, 2026個室とドミトリーを使用しました。個室は大変良かったです。景色もよく清潔快適で立地も良かったです！また、ドリンク無料チケットをいただいたのでそれを使用して疲れた身体を癒せました。しかし、ドミトリーはベッドのハシゴに私物がかけられていたり、床にゴミや靴下が散乱してたりあまり居心地が良いものではありませんでした。また、チェックインが遅かったのもありますが、トイレとシャワールームが共用でそちらも清潔とは言えず近くの銭湯に行きました。寝る場所だけなら大丈夫ですがあまりゆっくりできるところではないですね。少しお金をかけると快適な個室が使えるのでそちらをお勧めします！ギリギリにチェックインしましたが嫌な顔ひとつせず対応していただきありがとうございました！

Zona de estar excelente: cocina equipada, mesas con juegos, bonitas vistas, hay para hacer la colada. El lounge de abajo tiene buen ambiente. Te guardan el equipaje sin problema. Fue el mejor hostal de toda mi estancia en Japon

Les chambres sont sobres mais j'ai beaucoup apprécié la gaiété de la salle commune et du café bar en bas. PS : apportez votre cadenas pour le casier en dortoir (heuresement que j'y avais pensé)
La climatisation était un peu trop forte par moment dans le dortoir pour femmes.

Reviewed May 20, 2026The private double room was very good value if you are not fussed about hostel-style facilities. After all, it is still a lot more privacy than a lot of ryokans! The building is basic, and corridors are unfurnished, but the common area and bar/café are wonderfully decorated and have a great cosy vibe. A good selection of drinks, including local craft beers.
The bedroom could do with more storage options, like hooks on the walls.

Reviewed May 18, 2026Sehr schönes Café, die Frühstücksauswahl ist klein aber fein, das Zimmer ist basic, aber schön. Sehr schöner Gemeinschaftsraum zum Essen und arbeiten. Die Lage ist entspannt, alles ist ganz gut zu erreichen. Das Hostel entspricht den Bildern
Die Fenster sind nicht schallisoliert, deswegen kann es auf der Straßenseite ganz schön laut werden. Im 5. Stock sind nur Frauentoiletten und -waschräume und die Männer müssen für alles ein Stockwerk runter. Das ist nachts, wenn man nur mal schnell aufs Klo will, nicht so toll.

Reviewed May 11, 2026距離清水寺走路約15分鐘，想要清晨搶好機位選這間準沒錯。 一個晚上才700-800台幣的青旅，入住還送一樓酒吧的一張酒券，很多種選擇。我選天天水果調酒超好喝⋯ 淋浴間各層樓都有兩間，我完全沒跟別人搶著使用，淋浴間乾濕分離，提供吹風機和離子夾（很扯）、棉花棒和化妝棉，可說是無可挑剔。 床墊舒適，上下舖不可選擇，但可向櫃檯人員提出希望下舖的請求，我兩天都有到下舖。 二樓有圖書館（交誼廳、廚房），非常漂亮還剛好有我想看的雜誌，可以在這裡吃東西、看書、寫字。下次來京都一定會再住這裏！

Reviewed May 3, 2026The staff were incredible in accommodating my needs, after rough travel I was able to upgrade when I arrived. They were also helpful with my dietary requirements. The coffee was delicious. The King room was super comfy. The layout and lounge area were beautiful and well stocked. Local was great for me.

Reviewed Apr 30, 2026The location is great, the bar/cafe is very effordable and cheap. Kitchen is well equiped. Additonal Brekfast is good quality.
It wasnt clear that our room has no toilet or bathrroom so we had to share it with Hostel users evendough we paid for a whole room. In my opinion it was too expensive. The hotel bathroom and toiltes werent cleaned so often it was always dirty. I was disgusted a little to use it. They offer you a free coktail, but it had no alchohol in it and not good prepared. You get other quality when you pay.

Reviewed Apr 30, 2026Top tier stay, I was thoroughly impressed with my stay. I took a private room which has a desk and windows that opened for fresh air. It was lovely to have fresh sunlight and a breeze while working on my lap top at the desk. My room was just the right size for all my things without feeling cramped. I had the 4th floor which had plenty of washrooms & showers, I never had to wait and they were sparkling clean. Morning breakfast was delish! If you wonder whether you take brekkie - TAKE IT, its not a typical hostel-like brekkie I found travelling SE Asia - this was fresh, and just enough. They allowed me to 'upgrade' my beverage to a matcha which was nice for a small extra fee. Bed was cozy, loved the duvet and soft plush blankets. Wifi was never an issue to connect & signal was strong. I enjoyed the little cafe to relax and have a latte after walking around Kyoto.

Reviewed Apr 17, 2026One of my favorite hostels I’ve stayed in. Great to have the bar / cafe / restaurant downstairs, being so close to the beautiful river was a highlight for me. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Social opportunities but doesn’t feel required, very chill and warm environment

Reviewed Apr 14, 2026Das Hostel war von der Kyoto Station aus sehr unkompliziert zu erreichen und liegt in Kawaramachi – einer Lage, die gerade für Kyoto-Neulinge ideal ist. Der Komfort war hoch, die Badezimmer und Duschräume durchgehend sehr sauber. Und wie so oft in Japan verschwimmen hier die Grenzen: Es fühlt sich fast weniger wie ein klassisches Hostel an, sondern eher wie ein gut organisiertes, reduziertes Hotel.
Wenn Frühstück inkludiert ist, erwartet einen sehr guter Kaffee und ein insgesamt qualitativ überzeugendes Angebot. Gleichzeitig sollte jedoch Zeit eingeplant werden: Wartezeiten von bis zu 45 Minuten sind möglich, selbst bei geringer Auslastung. Das Personal arbeitet äußerst sorgfältig und mit viel Engagement. Die Abläufe wirken dabei weniger auf Effizienz ausgerichtet, dafür ist der Umgang durchgehend sehr freundlich und zugewandt.

Leider sind die Zimmer recht klein und sehen etwas lieblos ausgestattet aus.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026The location is great, a stones throw from the bottom of philosophers walk and a short walk to the geisha district and the main shopping areas. Staff are super helpful and willing to help you with anything. There is a cute cafe/bar on the ground floor which is nice to hang out in as well as a secure storage room for luggage when not in your room. When upstairs the common areas is clean and nice with games, free tea and washer/dryer that works really well. I saw several people doing digital nomad work on the WiFi no problem. Towel included.
I was in the 6 bed mixed room and the metal beds could be better but not bad. Otherwise really enjoyable stay.
