The Grand Atlantic Hotel

Amazing outside . Inside looking tired and old

Dated needs update

The hotel did not warn me that they had closed and cancelled my reservation and charged me for my stay after they had officially shut down for maintenance. I only found out my reservation was cancelled after travelling to the country and getting to the hotel door. They blamed booking.com who said they were not advised either. I emailed customer service a month ago and recieved no reply.

Nothing

They closed without informing us prior to arrival

Not a lot

It was very dated

Perfect location lovely hotel

Great location across the road from the beach breakfast was very nice staff are very friendly

The evening meal was a set menu could have been a better choice

Lovely hotel in great location. Green space & beach opposite. Very spacious room and dog friendly.

Happy with our visit so nothing not to like.

Hotel CLOSED WHEN WE HAD DRIVEN 100 miles No notification was given

Friendly staff, good service, great food

Bar prices, carpark payments

Great view

Tiny room

Nothing

Arrived to find that the hotel was locked and had closed for maintenance. We were not informed or contacted.

The only downside to our stay at the royal hotel was the single glazed windows should be double glazed because the noise from the bars and clubs nearby unacceptable especially between midnight to 3am Otherwise our stay was lovely

The property was ‘closed due to maintenance issue’ upon our arrival - door was locked. Rang the bell and a girl in jeans appeared and told us booking.com were 100% responsible to advise us and they had/took NO responsibility - including no offer of help to find accommodation. I tried numerous times to contact booking.com with NO information on your app of even HOW to do this. We were stranded with very little funds and I am considering small claims court. Will NEVER use your service again. Please respond and refund my money immediately!

See above

Nothing as didn't stay due to it being closed

Not having any confirmation that the hotel was closed before we travelled

The staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean but very out dated needs modernising

A bit of a quirky place - I think lost between the old and modern

The hotel was closed

The hotel was closed

My niece had her wedding reception booked in August and without anyone speaking with her from the hotel she discovered that the hotel has closed. No thought or consideration for their booked and paid event, no explanation , no decency to speak to them. APPALLING especially as they are still advertising availability to book for tonight.

We arrived to find a notice on the door saying hotel closed for emergency maintenance. No-one informed us beforehand. We had to find an alternative hotel ourselves. Luckily it was low season so we found a hotel close by.

I didn't like is when I got there I got told the place was closed for maintenance and not received any communication to say my booking had been cancelled. My husband is disabled (MS) and one of his symptoms is urgency to use the loo and had to wait so someone could check if he could use thd toilet even though he showed his ms card. I was lucky my toddler daughter was asleep. The only good thing they told me was the place of the hotel we could go too, lucky for us they had a family room.

Room was fine albeit very squeaky floor boards, was a good size and had a sea view. Very low water pressure so shower not the best. You check in at the bar in the pub. We didn’t see anyone at reception during our stay, just a sign sending you to the bar. We only had one towel for the entire stay, room not made up at any point and by the time we returned on the second night the pub was closed so we couldn’t request one. We didn’t use the restaurant as the pub was empty most of the time and not somewhere we wanted to eat. The soap in the bathroom was in small plastic bottle in a wall mounted dispenser, didn’t look refillable and were made in Holland! Not eco friendly for such a large pub group. Not sure where the four star rating comes from!

Looked nice from outside

That it was closed without being informed before our arrival

Arrive to find the hotel closed, no prior warning whatsoever. No helpful staff. Just a lady with the door slightly ajar telling us standing on the doorstep that the hotel is closed.

We didn't even get yo stay in a room as the place had been effectively evacuated. Poor communication from the hotel and booking as we had travelled and didn't find out until we got there. There was no offer of alternative accommodation so I had to sort that out with no guarantee of a refund. Pretty poor all round.

The location, staff and building were amazing; had a beautiful room with stunning sea views.

Unfortunately, there was a problem at the hotel, and we received a note on our first night that the hotel was being closed the next morning, and we had to vacate. The staff were fantastic in helping arrange replacement accommodation for the rest of our stay.

The hotel was closed on arrival, guests were evacuated the day before. No prior warning given to us from Booking.com and as yet not been able to reach customer service or speak to anyone about a refund

Staff were excellent. The ambience of the hotel was great. The dinners were ok. First night a bit slow and dinner was Luke warm but the second night the food was excellent. Beautiful views of the bay and sea. Very close to the sea, literally across the road. It was very clean.

It was a bit shabby. The rooms needed and corridors need an upgrade they were a bit old and tired.

Fab hotel great location

The bedroom was spacious and clean, and the meals were delicious

There was no entertainment of a night, and there were limited alcoholic drinks offered in the bar.

The view Breakfast The Staff

Decoration of the rooms flaking paint etc.. Our Superior room hadn’t been updated

Good breakfast comfortable stay.

Loved the location. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. Buffet style. Other options available on request. Fresh fruit salad and prunes. Only had dinner there one night but it was excellent. My colleagues ate in the restaurant four evenings and they were impressed with the meals. The staff were helpful with the Stannah stair lift and luggage. A good car park but I didn’t come by car. Airport Flyer bus from Bristol cheap and reliable. Good connections by train too.

Personally I thought it excellent however the only access for guests with mobility aids and wheelchairs is up a Stannah type stair lift (about 6 or 7 steps). There is a revolving door and a side door which opens fully once up the steps. The staff help with this. They also take luggage up and down for people who need it.

Breakfast was excellent. Hot, well cooked, plentiful, staff so helpful, plenty of tables even with a coach load arriving next day too. My husband enjoyed the really good sausages, bacon and lovely crispy hash browns

Nothing it was perfect

Staff were wonderful and very helpful Food excellent Location couldn't be bettered

Hotel had seen better days Lots of very old people as guests (but I suppose thats the bit of the market they operate in)

Would never stay here again. The hotel is extremely shabby and outdated. Paint peeling off walls, window frames with mould around, thick dust on skirting boards and room door with handles hanging off. All corridor room doors scuffed and paint badly chipped. Windows look like they have never been cleaned along with the revolving front door which looks filthy. No information in the room regarding the hotel plus no house phone ! Towels were ok along with the bedding. Glad to be going home.

Ideally located for exploring the town, and at the same time offering comfortable accommodation and excellent food,

No complaints whatsoever.

Good breakfast and great locatin

No air conditioning and the window can only be opened 5 cm, so the room is very warm even in May. Room, wall and carpets need renovation. The television was no more than 20 years old, max 10x10😆and couldn't even stand up straight. Be careful when booking and paying for parking at reception. We paid £10 per night but a few weeks later we were fined for unpaid parking. So we paid £144 for the stay, £10 for parking and £120 for a fine for this old, grumpy hotel, very nice and this hotel is definitely not worth £274, it is not a Hilton......... and of course the hotel not answer message or email or help with the fine

Didnt get off to a good start, having to pay £10 parking overnight. Bedroom was supposedly a superior with a sea view. It was very tired carpet worn with holes. Nothing Grand about this hotel

Dated, but that is in character

Clean and having facilities for tea coffee and water in the room Lovely friendly staff

Outlook of the hotel

Entrance to hotel was problematic with revolving doors and had to make several visits through as luggage couldn't pass through . No Entertainment for such a large hotel on weekends was disappointing , also the bar was limited on what they had to offer - No Guinness - No Stella , had to settle for a beer. Door to our room was very unsafe - one nudge and it would fly open . On a better note the Breakfast was ok .

The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable The shower was good

The ensuit bathroom is a bit small

Location, location, location….this hotel is perfectly positioned to enjoy the panoramic sea views, the visit fantastic tourist attraction of the Pier & have a ride on the big wheel. All restaurants, bars and town/high street are nearby with the huge promenade across the road from this iconic hotel. So making access to everything, safe. This is not a tacky seaside town as the wonderful architecture of buildings retains its original grace and elegance. Had a fantastic weekend and everything on the doorstep.

Location

Mold on wall by window

Location excellent, breakfast was average, the evening meals were excellent, staff were pleasant and helpful

General decoration in bedroom, flaky paint work, windows that didn’t close, tv very small, a larger bed

The history of the place is alluring. Breakfast was good.

Very tired. Needs alot spent on it to bring it up to modern standards which is such a shame. Also The corridor outside of our room absolutely stunk of weed all weekend.

A great stay in all but carpets and decor need renewing.

Central location great friendly staff comfortable

Needs a little tender care… didn’t always leave coffee or sweeteners on tea/coffee tray and needs a touch up of paint here and there as was scuffed marks and knocks on nearly all paintwork

Dated and tired needs upgraded. We only stayed for one night which we were glad of. The fire escape instructions missing from the back of the room door. Remnants of the sticky tape left. Mould on window and the waste paper bin had been left full of rubbish from last guest. Security chain and window handle of window broken

Had a musty smell

The hotel was very accommodating as took my mother who had motability concersn ..hotel could not help enought ..the food was also nice too ...very good and nice hotel great location

A beautiful building with a calm, welcoming atmosphere. All of the staff were polite and helpful. The room was a comfortable temperature with an incredibly comfortable bed. The shower and bathroom was a nice size with the room being clean and tidy. Checking and out was a breeze. The location is perfect. The beach is across the street with the high street and bars/restaurants within a 2-3 minute walking distance. As we don't drive it was helpful that the train station was only a few minutes walk from the venue.

Hotel very good and food great

Na

The location is good. The room was comfortable

Nothing

Good breakfast, nice central location.

Room very hot and disappointed with the view (Fire Escape)

Great sea side location, nice large room, friendly staff, great breakfast

The hotel is old and looks like its slowly recovering from years of neglect, saying that it's got a lot going for it.

Great location and view Bed was comfy, even if it was just a single Shower hot and powerful

Decor is shabby and in dire need of a makeover . Lift barely big enough for 1 person + bag

Friendly staff, easy access as has a lift. Room clean and large. Great sea views. Fan, lots of plugs with USB built in. Large shower.

Having to leave

Breakfast was good and bed comfy

Room needs to be updated and decorated.

Comfortable affordable easy access to everything

Having to pay for car park

So close to the prom and pier. Great view from the room. Staff very friendly.

The windows were drafty, there was only 1 towel (bath towel, no hand towel or towel for the foot of the shower) we got another bath towel from reception.

Location

Paying for breakfast when I booked B&B booking. Come mess up

Chloe the barmaid was a great host who kept us entertained when we returned to the hotel in the evening. The dinner was unexpectedly delicious and the breakfast pretty good. We were definitely one of the younger people staying there but the location was amazing.

Location

The hotel is very tired in every aspect loose wires, damp on walls , door to room was in an awful state , creaking floors , from the entrance which is shabby to the carpark whichis overgrown and unkept sorry but 3 stars absolutely no way ,

Excellent Hotel, Quality food. and friendly, efficient Staff in all departments.

Clean and comfortable with excellent service.

Very friendly greeting, booking in. Room very good, clean and inviting.

We had a sea view which was very nice and room was all clean and nice a welcoming

The only bad thing to say was we was in room 403 and we could hear the wind it was howling I think are window needs sorting and could of dont with a little paint but other than that was great for the night
