The guesthouse is in the most beautiful, magical setting - views all around! Spacious room and fully stocked kitchen. Patricia was very accommodating by allowing me a late check-out, in order to attend an online meeting in the quiet of our bungalow

Lovely stay, Megan was excellent.

The breakfast served at the guest house was excellent and met my expectations.

The showerhead requires replacement, and the shower door was difficult to open and requires inspection and repair.

They love everything about De Molen guest house.

We stayed in a large room with a loft with 2 single beds upstairs for our 8yo. Beds were very comfy. There’s a small basic kitchenette. Also loved the large terrace with the views. Safe gates, plenty of parking. Fairly steep driveway to walk up to some rooms.

I would say there’s an area for improvement with the way the breakfast is ordered. The “pre-order” service is not well-managed, in this case it is better not to provide it at all, cause it implies some expectations that are not met thus frustration. I was mistakenly charged with services i didn’t order, but we quickly settled it down.

I had the most amazing experience during my recent stay. From the moment I arrived, the service was nothing short of impeccable ! Every staff member was friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and cared for. The views were breathtaking and truly made the whole stay feel extra special. The facilities were spotless, well-maintained, and made everything incredibly convenient and enjoyable. I’m genuinely so thankful for the wonderful hospitality I received. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything so right, but this accommodation exceeded all expectations. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending it to everyone I know! 🌟

The location to where we needed to be, was perfect.

The guesthouse needs maintenance work, as you enter the plants needs cutting back. the unit wasn't ready when we arrived after the said check in time. In unit 9 the floors were lifting and loose (need replacing them) and the cornices were missing. Under the bed there was bum creme left by previous visitors and under the bed was dusty as was under the kitchen counter and the light fittings. Roman blind next to bed has stain marks from water damage.

Everything at De Molen was perfect. Clean rooms, great views. Excellent service and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Everything was perfect.

The location is outstanding, on the slope of the Helderberg Mountain, with a great view and sense of being away from a built-up area. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The cottage that I was in had everything one needed to be self-sufficient, including a kitchenette. Breakfast was super.

fantastisch uitzicht, schitterende plek en hele aardige mensen. Een dag van te voren gevraagd waar we de avond erna het beste konden eten. Ze hebben vervolgens voor ons een fijn restaurant geboekt. Ook met de braai werd goed meegedacht en geholpen. De accommodatie is echt een plaatje en is perfect om stellenbosch vanuit te verkennen.

The staff moved us to another unit at no extra cost because the Booking.com advert was a bit misleading. We also received breakfast on the house. I can't thank the De Molen management and staff enough for an extraordinary and luxurious 2-night stay with the most unbelievable views (day and night). We will most definitely be back as soon as possible. Thank you kindly!

Lovely place to stay, beautiful surroundings and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpfully. We where staying in a cottage and every morning a delicious breakfast was delivered at our cottage. Ideal place to stay if you want to explore (the surroundings of) Somerset West, Stellenbosch and even Cape Town.

Everything was good

We had a lovely stay at De Molen guesthouse. The staff were very friendly, and we also met the owner at breakfast. The rooms were comfortable and met the listing description. The honesty bar is a cosy corner to get together and we greatly enjoyed the hearty breakfast!

It's quite a big, old property, so a little cold in winter. Probably a bit more suitable as a summer destination..

Scenery was nice

My booking was posted as a no show and my money wasn't refunded it took them 4 days to call and apologize and I was asked to change my rating, im still waiting for my refund, their response was they had to change it to a NO SHOW so I didn't have to pay a cancelation fee but in the mean time the place burnt out I don't like dishonesty. Pay my money then I will change the rating

Loved the locality but for a sports group with sporting equipment (mountain bikes) it was not ideal with regard storage

Very friendly staff. We had dinner and breakfast at the guest house and it was very tasty.

The duvets are very worn; in many places the filling has shrunk, so they no longer provide warmth.

We stayed in mid winter for 3 nights. The location and views were stunning.

It was mid winter and the unit /room we were staying in was bitterly cold. There was an air-conditioner. On arrival in the evening there was no hot water as the geyser in the unit had not been switched on. The double bed had summer, lightweight duvet and blanket provided was not adequate. I requested an electric blanket but was not provided. The bathroom door does not open from the inside, so one morning I had to climb out of the window in my pjamas to go to Reception for assistance. This was not fixed during our stay so we had to be careful throughout our stay not to lock ourselves in. The shower outlet drain was blocked and resulted in flooding. On arrival I had to pay an additional amount as my room was changed to accommodate my husband who is in a wheelchair. I do not believe we received value for money and overall our 3 night stay was disappointing.

Had such a lovely stay. Room was super comfortable and cozy and the view was spectacular !!! The hostess was lovely. I will most definitely book again on my next trip !!!!

Beautiful location, amazing view. The room was clean and nice. Felt very safe. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Exactly what we were looking for. A bit of a drive from Cape Town, but so pretty and worth it. Can come and go at any time. Property is very well lit. Nice little pool as well. Would highly recommend. I stayed with a partner this time but would have felt safe here as a solo female traveler as well.

All good. FYI the bathroom door has a window, which could be a little awkward depending on who you are traveling with but not really an issue at all. Would not necessarily recommend driving back from Cape Town in the dark regularly though, so keep that in mind if you have evening plans there.

It’s very cold, it would be great if they can fit in carpets in the rooms also a heater or electric blankets or more blankets. It’s very cold because the mountain is just next door. Doors to be fixed as well, they randomly open We prefer the shower head rather than the tap.

We loved the attention to detail. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is just so welcoming and friendly. Nico, you are star!!! Thank you so much for making our couple's wedding night so special.

A stunning property. We were in one of the cottages & had the most exquisite view of the mountain range.

Nothing. It was perfect.

The cottage we stayed in was at the top of a very steep hill with no place for a vehicles to turn around, so you have to reverse down. Pro is that you get a nice view, but con is that you have schlep to get up there. they wanted me to park my car at the bottom of the hill which I ignored in the end. Quite rustic in the kitchen but the bed and bathroom was ok.

We had a wonderful stay at this guesthouse! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed with their warm hospitality and attentive service. The facilities were spotless and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and relaxing environment throughout our stay. The overall atmosphere was calm and inviting. For dinner we had the chicken curry which was exceptional. The breakfast the following morning was outstanding.

The view and location was fantastic, the staff were friendly and would have liked to have had time to have a breakfast in the morning, but had to leave too early.

The original room was booked with 2x single beds, but the room only had a queen bed. The staff did offer to rectify and change the bed out with 2 single beds when we went out, but I rather just opted for a 2nd room instead, which they offered at a discounted rate.
