Pros - the pool and the size of the room. Cons - the antique cupboard is beautiful but not functional. E.g. you can’t watch the TV unless standing right in front of it. The room was not cleaned for 2 days and the garbage ended up attacking a colony of ants.
Close to some local markets, but still far enough that you’ll need to order a grab for most stuff.
Very nice pool and pool area with drying racks
I stayed there for 2 nights with my friends. It was so memorable. We really enjoyed the stays even though we had to carry our heavy as luggages to the first floor by stairs, but it was a really good experience. 2 nights, millions of memories. The bathrooms are huge, the beds are comfy. We already left Chiang mai, but B2 Suthep is still the name that we would talk about when talking about Chiang Mai.
In genteel decline, but still a very pleasant hotel.
This was our 4th visit and it is a lovely place. However, it starts to fall apart as the owners has completely neglected to maintain it, it needs a complete refurbishment. A place like this also need a breakfast facility.
Nice but out dated in the bathrooms
The room was dirty and very few amenities. There was no evidence of the Thai hospitality I was told about.
property was noisy
Nice property.
Good stay at B2 Suthep Nightmarket. We ended up booking this hotel as our second hotel in Chiang Mai due to a change of plans and our main priority was to be in a different area, other than the old city and closer to some outdoor activities, with a pool. The pros: For the price we paid, this hotel was a good option. The beds were hard but comfortable and very clean, the site is quite nice with a big pool and the location is really nice, walking distance from the Night Market right by the Chiang Mai University (10mins), from the very hip Nimman neighborhood (30mins) and from Doi Suthep hikes. Lots of great cheap local and Asian food options nearby. The cons: The rooms would definitely need a good update and coat of fresh uniform paint on the walls. The walls had patches of different paint on the walls, the shower was quite run down and a bit moldy and the bathroom furniture was very outdated. There were ants on the bathroom floor. You could hear everything happening outside of your room due to poor soundproofing from the doors but we sleep with earplugs so that did not prevent us from getting a good night of sleep. Finally, the pool served its refreshing purpose but it was not very well kept, lots of leaves, broken ceramic on the steps and a cold jacuzzi. Overall, a good stay in a different area of Chiang Mai if you’re looking for a good but nice budget option.
The hotel was lovely, room spacious and we had the pool to ourselves. Unfortunately we had a change of travel plans so had to cut our stay short - but it was a great stay.
Lovely place but needs to be refurbished. Breakfast facilities and vending machines for drinks and snacks should be added.
Great property & excellent staff!!!
Unless you want to get a taxi you are missing the chaing mai experience of the old town …too far to walk…a few places to walk to but it’s not convenient
Old, need renovation!
Nice staff, tropical setting, nice pool area. Room very spacious. Only issue was the small cafe restaurant was closed during the time of our stay and there was nothing else within a 10 minute walk. But overall was enjoyable and Id stay again.
A very nice intimate hotel 5 km from the city center. Bars and shops within walking distance. Quiet, clean hotel, with very nice staff, and an overall nice layout of the hotel. Spacious, comfortable room with a large bathroom. Safe, fridge, tv, nice extras like bathrobes or slippers. You can relax in your room or cool off in the small swimming pool. Nice greenery.
The manager was very friendly and seems to be the only one who can communicate efficiently in English
Beautiful resort, very friendly staff, little too remote if you don’t have a scooter, but then the place is more quiet than the average place in the area. All in all, loved my stay.
The hotel is nice, lovely grounds...but the story is the reception staff...very kind, very gracious, very efficient...delightful.
the facility is very nice, clean and safe. The breakfast was wonderful, and the staff is great. The hotel does not offer any type of ice other than the empty tray within the in-room refrigerator. The swimming pool is very nice and much to cold for me. In addition, there is no work out room or gym.
I loved my stay here. The staff were very helpful and assisted in scheduling our spa day, elephant tour as well as tiger tour. We ha a driver for the day. The room was amazing, and breakfast was perfect and included. Would stay here again in a heart beat
I looked at the B2 brand and thought of it as very basic level so quite uneasy how much it could keep of its promise being a boutique Hotel. Arriving at the Hotel it looked like a country Hotel but reflected the Thai feel very well. I felt warmly welcome and though basic ambiance the attention to detail was warm and welcoming. Loved the friendliness and willingness of staff to help and make my stay comfortable. Rooms had a urban feel but were clean and the options of wellness offered were great at theB2. Would certainly stay again, just make sure you have enough information for the driver how to find it.
There are many cons about this resort, but nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay here a lot. This resort is a bit far from the central Chiang Mai, but with your own bike i's easy to get around. It's close to the University and the buzz and fuss of students and street restaurants and also near the Zoo and mountain Doi Inthanon. The resort is pretty worn and lean, the wi-fi is slow but free and you should not be afraid of the wildlife (ants, mosquitoes, geckos) IN the rooms. The surroundings though, are greenish, charming and peaceful, the staff is really nice, the rooms has a/c and a dvd player available PLUS you get free mosquitoe repellant and an electric racket.
Tucked at the very foot of Doi Suthep, is a little gem of a hotel that is not to be missed. The Ayatana is easily accessible to Old City by frequent Tuk Tuk service, but the neighborhood is quiet, as it is literally among the last blocks of "city" before the bottom slopes of the mountain. You are as likely to be awakened in the morning by the calls of jungle song birds as any noise here. Disregard curmudgeons' reviews below' this place has been solid for years, and remains so today. From the warm lobby to engaging staff to the Lanna-Style interior design of your room, this place is not a cookie-cutter hotel by any means. Wooden floors (ooh! Watch out, they're a little creaky!), wooden four-poster beds with netting both romantic and functional, wooden coffee benches outside your door, Nooen cushions, hand-painted wall murals - all the design touches are both serviceable and interesting. This trip, we changed rooms during our stay and chatted with other guests in several more. All were clean and nice. The breakfast is superb with fresh fruit both chilled and not, juices, varietal teas and coffees, nice meats and other items, and friendly conversation with highly attentive staff. Great massages! Free bottled water each day was nice too. My darling's three-foot-plus cascade of hair benefitted nicely from rain-water rinses available from the rainwater barrel placed for the purpose outside the bathroom window. With showers big enough for two, lots of counter space for your wife's toiletries, Fridge TV etc. this is a practical place from which to base a week-long stay if you want. The pool has been pristine on each of my three stays here, with multiple well-padded highly-comfortable teak chaises around the pool, and no problem getting free towels for the pool if you ask nicely. Check out the hand-made brochures in the lobby too. We found the best price on the Kantoke there and the staff called in our reservations for us. In all, if you are not afraid when your hotel doesn't look American, if you want a little piece of Thailand in your home base, if you value the combination of peaceful quiet and accessibility, and you like a great pool in which to cool off, try this place. We talked to two families who loved it there during our stay too.
I got so worried for my booked when i read all the reviews on web, i almost wanna cancel my booked, but when i arrived in the hotel everything wasn't what i thought. Staffs are so friendly and helpful , big clean nice room and bathroom. The style of northern Thailand, perfect for the price about 1k THB/night *just a bit far from the city but we rent a motorcycle so that's not a problem for us.
Looking at some of the bad reviews.. I don't know what people expect on here but for the price we paid it was great!! Lovely staff, very pleasant surroundings and nice size pool. The hotel offers pick up/drop off to various day trips and tours which are fantastic in Chiang Mai!! I would happily go back and stay again for such a cheap deal. If you want everything 5 star, check in at the ritz and pay 5 star prices..
We stayed here for one night to see what it was like. The staff speak very little English so accused us of having no money on our card for the deposit as there card machine was not working. The deposit is apparently for the key but was never mentioned at the time of booking so be aware of this. So not a very good start right from check in. The pool has one broken sun lounger and nothing else for anyone to use. The room was basic and could do with a good clean but the bed was comfy and we slept ok. On check out we were told we would have to pay for a towel which had dust/dirt on it as we used it to wipe out feet before getting into bed as the floor was dirty. So be warned do not use the towels! The manager said it was company policy to charge a 500b deposit for the room key and to charge for towels that people use if it will not rinse out in cold water! We were not very happy with this hotel and will never stay again
We landed in Chiang Mai after a nice stay in Phuket. After the driver finally found the place (guess not many trips here) we checked into this supposed 4 star hotel. When we got to our room we were floored. It was very old and dinghy and the mosquitoes immediately set upon us. We returned to the office and asked to see the luxury room which was really no better. We forfeited our first night payment ( will fight for remainder) and booked into another hotel. Disappointing! We have spent 4 1/2 weeks in SE Asia, in Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Phuket. This was the first big disappointment. Some may like it, but just not for us.
We tried to cancel our booking 2 nights booking 10 minutes after we made the booking but they wouldn't refund us. Than we contacted them to ask if we could change the date because we made the booking one day too early and again they would not help. We decided take our loss and just go for the second night and see if we would add another night. We arrived in the morning and had breakfast straight away but this wasn't good. The room was okay but dated as is the whole hotel. We decided to just go to a different hotel because we definitely wouldn't pay them for another night and we didn't wanted to change hotels the next day.
We stayed here for one night before we decided to leave. The service is incompetent managed to mess up both our booking and our Thai friends who also stayed. We booked a family room which only had one double bed, and took a lot of effort to get them to provide somewhere for the kids to sleep. Our friends also had a poor experience with booking in despite their fluent Thai. The place is really tatty and needs total renovation to bring it in line with other similar hotels. The place is literally falling apart, the light fell off the side of the pool as my kids were swimming and the wooden deck around the pool is rotten and dangerous in places. The room we had was apparently a junior suite, but I wouldn't recommend even if you were a couple it's dark, with smelly drain aroma. There are simply much better options in Chiang Mai for this price. It's pretty far from anywhere and not a very direct transfer to the airport despite its relative proximity.
I went to this place on 18-19 DEC 2016 which is the high season of Chiang Mai, Thailand therefore I thought every hotels' rates will rise up but this one still cheap! The room is decorated with traditional Thai-northern style which brings you feel so different from the common resort. But the entire resort is look quite old and I think they should have it renovated soon plus parking lots is limited only 2-3 cars :(
The room was massive and the the bed came with a mosquito net which was welcomed! The pool was nice and big but could have been cleaned. Please note this hotel is near to the airport but far from the train station so be prepared to pay for taxis! You couldn't walk. I wouldn't say this was my favourite hotel in Thailand as it wasn't overly friendly but the staff were helpful enough. If you want to go elephant trekking and want to be ethical and endure the elephants are well looked after, I recommend elephant jungle sanctuary! It's not too expensive and was my best experience in the whole of Thailand
The room was good, quite large and decorated nicely in Thai style. The setting and the grounds were lovely with lots of pools including a swimming pool and an outdoor bar. Towels were not provided for swimming. However the receptionist told us our booking had been cancelled then discovered this was not the case and the bar attendant could not make a cocktail and the white wine was terrible. The next morning we asked for coffee and were served cold strong coffee with milk. It was undrinkable. The location was quite isolated and we had to rely on the staff to call a vehicle for us. The english of all the staff was poor. We have stayed in Chiang Mai three times before and always encountered staff with good english and understanding of our requirements.
Hotel by the photos is in an amazing way but to get it all wrong , the pool was green, there was attention at the bar next to the pool, Wi Fi does not reach the rooms are far from reception, breakfast is of poor quality and care staff is not the best. An example of this is when I went to breakfast and caregivers were engaged only chat on your mobile phone . Not return and would not recommend it for anything.
On arrival bed was made but sheets were dirty & stained. Advised reception, sheets were changed but still looked grey & old. Same with the towels. Needed throwing out & new linen purchased. Around the pool many tiles were broken. The decking was also in a bad state of disrepair. Breakfast was a waste of time.Had to ask them to open up one morning as no staff. Asked for more milk & was given a jug that had been left out all night & the milk was off. Little choice & the same every day. Never more than two tables at breakfast but still managed to get the orders wrong. The situation is a bit too far out from the city. We did walk into the old town several times, takes appx 30min & on busy main roads. For anyone who doesnt like walking forget it. You can get a taxi or tuck tuck in the day time but at night from the night market & busy areas in the city they are reluctant to take you & when they do they are more expensive. On saying that it is still cheap compared to European standards. If you want to have an alcoholic drink locally in the evening, forget it. The area is full of universities & students no alcohol is on sale, plenty of coffee shops. Overall the place is very run down & desperately needs a complete overhaul also it is too far out from the main areas.I would definitely return to Chiang Mai as it is a lovely city & friendly people but not to this accommodation.
Had a lovely time here - a top floor room that has a painted mural theme, a nice shower, and a shower "extension" for a traditional "sluice" after a swim in the very cool pool. Breakfast is basic, as the food on the street is far more enticing - the streets are lined with vendors, and the alleyways nearby each have unique food treasures.
I didn't expect this hotel to be so dreamy and beautiful! It doesn't look like much from the outside but you're blown away by the beauty of the place when you enter the pool/garden area. Nice rooms with funny details. Can't wait to stay here again. Only downside was the breakfast - you won't miss anything by skipping that :)
Over priced for the service given: Worst buffet breakfast ever experienced, Bad location, with NO service shuttle to the city, Bed not comfortable and rooms quite noisy (very poor audio isolation). It is really overpriced compared with other properties in Thailand.
Nice décor , calm and peaceful, llittle expensive needs own transportation little inside from main road, in room facility in quite good, safe, hair dryer, etc we are vegetarian so restaurant was of no use. They close early in evening
We stayed at B2 Ayatana Resort, Chiang Mai in November 2015 and had a more than pleasant stay. As you can see from previous reviews the hotel is a little bit out of town (although not too far) and it is in need of a little bit of TLC however it has its good points. The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. It is also a good place to stay if you want to get way from the larger hotels and tourist area and experience a little more of the local scene. The prices should also be less than you pay in town - but check before you book. We stayed in a standard room which was still a good size and well appointed with wood paneling, painted, mural on the wall, mosquito net over the bed, huge shower, in room safe, good selection of toiletries (replaced daily) etc. The room was also clean and reasonably well maintained. The pool area is bueatiful and quiet with plenty of sun beds. The deck needs some maintenance and some of the poolside furniture could do with upgrading but we quite often had the pool area to ourselves or with only one or two other couples around. The hotel is on Soi 4 (lane way 4) of the main Supteh Road. The reception can call you a taxi or you can walk (5-10min) to the main road where there is are local night time food stalls (every night). There are also a variety of restaurants and a 7/11 and other supermarkets. From the main road you can flag down a "mini bus/ jeepney" and they will take you to town for 20 Bhat per person. In the morning try stopping at "A Piece of Cake" which is only 2min walk down the lane way (Soi 4) for a coffe and cake. The cakes are all baked fresh on the premises and they sell the cakes to other cafes in town. Some of the freshest home baked cakes you will find.
Quiet, semi romantic, peaceful. Property is away from main road by about a 1 mile healthy walk. One really needs own transportation if you want to escape from the hotel. Bikes for rent on premise. Not easy to find , but worth the search, secluded and peaceful. Rooms- neat, mosquito net around bed, many toiletries provided, hair dryer. Hot water very good. Has a unique shower option , to step outside from shower for a tradional thai shower by water basin and silver bucket-dish to pour water. Quite erotic. Pool- nice size, private, towels provided, cushy longe chairs. Breakfast buffet - nice assortment, eggs and bacon cooked to your liking. Tip- go early items get quickly depleted, and their slow to replenish , let alone even do replenish. Staff- cordial, and welcome. Negative- one unforseeable negative is they have a large apartment project going on next door, with about 1 1/2 years to completion. With this constant noise, this hotel would be extremely quiet. However, to mention the noise is not intolerable enough to not consider a stay. It is just something to mention, but still a lovely stay.
