Reviewed Sep 3, 2026露天風呂付きのお部屋に泊まりました。源泉の追い焚きで好きな時に気ままに入浴が楽しめました。星を眺めながらの温泉は最高。さそり座、天の川も見られました！ また、スタッフの方の気遣いもよく快適に過ごせました。 お食事はいろいろおいしかったのですが、すだちブリが絶品！一人旅でも独り言をつぶやいてしまうほどでした。 東京から訪れるには遠い所だと思っていましたが、ぜひまた訪れたい旅館です。

Reviewed Aug 20, 2026Wir haben uns hier sehr wohlgefühlt! Die Lage ist ideal, um das Iya-Tal und seine Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erkunden. Unser Zimmer war sauber; das ursprünglich zugeteilte Zimmer roch allerdings noch etwas nach einem früheren Raucherzimmer. Nach unserem Hinweis wurde es jedoch sofort und unglaublich freundlich gegen ein anderes Zimmer getauscht – besser hätte man damit wirklich nicht umgehen können. Das Onsen ist zwar schon etwas älter, aber besonders das schöne Außenbecken hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Auch das Essen war qualitativ hervorragend, liebevoll zubereitet und sehr authentisch japanisch. Darauf sollte man sich einstellen – beim Abendessen kann einen durchaus auch einmal ein ganzer gegrillter Fisch anschauen. 😉 Alles war aber frisch und wirklich sehr gut. Insgesamt eine tolle Unterkunft mit ausgesprochen herzlichem Service, gutem Essen und perfekter Lage für das Iya-Tal. Wir würden definitiv wiederkommen!

夕食の猪鍋の猪肉が早く準備されていたせいか，乾いており，見た目が悪かった。 売店で購入したお茶が1500円のところ，宿泊者は10%引きで，ついつい3つ買ったが，その後立ち寄った大歩危の道の駅で同じものが1,000円で売っており，ショックだった。

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026大浴場の温泉は少し熱めで入って直ぐ肌がスベスベになるのを感じました。 客室露天風呂は源泉が冷泉の為、好みの温度調整（私はヌルめ長風呂好き）ができるので温泉を満喫する事ができました。 夕食は品数が多く優しい味付けで郷土料理を堪能する事ができました。 こんにゃくの刺身と鮎の塩焼き、祖谷蕎麦が美味しかったです。
喫煙室で予約しましたが、客室に灰皿がない。 フロントに電話すると｢喫煙室のお客様は灰皿をフロントでお渡しします｣との回答。 チェックイン時に喫煙室の確認あって灰皿を渡してもらってないしそもそも、喫煙室であれば灰皿を置くべきだと思います。

The room was a bit on the simpler side - accommodation was overall quite comfortable though.

Our room did not have a bathroom. It did not state this in the room title but under facilities listed only bidet. The expectation is that you use the Onsen but one of our group was not comfortable with this. The list of facilities also included table tennis which was actually the main reason that we booked here. We were disappointed to hear that this was not available.

Reviewed Apr 20, 2026The location was perfect to explore all around the Iya Valley and for amazing local walks. The Japanese meals were very good. The onsen at our room as lovely to be private, with a great view of the hills. The staff were very helpful and polite.
The bedroom had a bad smell, like boiled cabbage, not sure why as it did not smell like cigarettes. We managed this by keeping the outside door open for ventilation which worked well. We missed not having a hot shower in the bedroom. The one outside by the private onsen did not have hot enough water, so it was very cold to wash in on a cold day. We found the hotel expensive given the hotel decoration was quite dated and there was not a bathroom in the room

部屋の露天の景色が少し残念だった。 山に囲まれてるのは凄く良いが、目の前がコンクリートの建物ですごく目に入る。

Both are Japanese style and traditional as befits a hotel of this type and era which we enjoy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Onsen is very nice, and though the outside bath is not large, there is a lovely view of the mountains. Room size was good. There is a great walk along a promenade between Oboke Station and the hotel. We took the shuttle one way and walked back. The bus stop for Kazurabashi is very close by.
Not a criticism, the hotel is looking somewhat worn. It is very clean however and the age did not diminish our experience.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Sunriver Oboke ist ein wunderschönes Hotel in einer Gegend von Japan, die nicht auf der typischen westlichen touristischen Route liegt. Wer das Vogelscheuchen-Dorf Nagoro (Scarecrow Village) 名頃かかしの里 besuchen möchte, ist in diesem Hotel für Übernachtungen sehr gut aufgehoben. Es gibt zwei Bahnstationen in der Nähe des Hotels von und zu dem das Hotel ein Shuttel Service anbietet. Aber für Menschen, die gut zu Fuß sind empfehle ich: Geht zu Fuß. Die Landschaft ist wunderschön, der Weg vom Ōboke Banhof hat durchgehend einen Fußgängerweg und von der Station fährt stündlich ein Zug zurück nach Okayama. Als ich angekommen bin, wurde ich freundlich begrüßt, man hat mir alles gezeigt und auf meine Nachfrage (zwar auf japanisch, aber Stichwörter wie Nagoro reichen auch ohne japanisch Kenntnisse aus), hat man mir ein Fahrplan mitgegeben und aufgezeigt, wie und mit welchen Bussen ich zum Dorf komme. Das Hotel selbst ist schon etwas älter, aber ich liebe genau diese Atmosphäre. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und als Dampfer konnte ich da drin auch dampfen. Zigaretten Geruch gab es in meinem Zimmer überhaupt nicht und wäre für Nichtraucher auch ideal gewesen. Mein Zimmer hatte zwar eine Toilette, jedoch kein herkömmliches Bad. D. h, man muss das hoteleigene Onsen nehmen. Für mich war das überhaupt kein Problem, da ich auf meiner Reise die Onsen lieben gelernt habe und sie herrlich zum entspannen sind. Ich habe auch das Abendessen dazu gebucht. Mit ca. 3.000 Yen nicht gerade billig, aber es war wirklich sehr lecker und bot jede Menge unterschiedliche lokale Spezialitäten an, die ich sonst so nie gegessen hätte. Ganz klar eine Empfehlung von mir. Macht ggf ein Foto und fragt eine KI, wie ihr manche Dinge essen könnt ;) Ansonsten gibt es in ca. 10 Minuten Fußweg ein Minimarkt an einer Raststätte die Rund um die Uhr auf. Das Hotel ist wirklich wunderschön, nette, hilfsbereite Angestellte, sehr sauber und mit einem Hotel-Onsen ein wunderschöner und ruhiger Ort um zu entspannen.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026時期も相まってか自分が求めていた物が勢揃いでした( ≧∀≦)ノシブめの和服 温泉から見える渓谷&桜！何処か昔の趣を残した外装内装&クレーンゲーム！懐かしさがありますね( -∀・) 煙草は吸いませんがあのベランダで椅子に座りながら朝の一服とかできたら気持ちいいだろうなぁ、とか思ったりしてました(*´ω｀*)
強いて言うのであれば...和室に入った時とトイレの違和感が若干あったりなかったり(｡-ω-)a

Reviewed Mar 23, 2026As someone else already said: this place should be knocked down. It is completely outdated. The same goes for our room: unacceptably outdated with an old-fashioned and small bathroom of about 1,5 m2. Dinner and breakfast are served in a huge and sloppy room without any atmosphere and where they “clean” the tablecloth with a wet cleaning cloth. Food is dropped on your table and you feel unwelcome.

房間空間狹小。 戶外湯需要按加熱才能加熱溫泉。 無提供洗髮沐浴精，無法在房間內洗澡。 冷氣機及小冰箱一直發出惱人的聲音，夜晚尤其明顯，整晚難以入眠。 枕頭無支撐感。

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026溫泉池有室內池和露天池（較小） 早餐和晚餐都很精緻，服務人員都很親切 有提供到大步危車站的接駁車，需提前登記。
雖然有提前除味，但整個房間的煙味還是很重，大概是陳年附著在家具牆壁上的。

Reviewed Jan 11, 2026The hotel is a bit outdated, and it felt like taking a step back in time. For us, this added very much to the charm of the property! The room was very nice and had a beautiful view of the mountains. We were very grateful to use the open air bath in the cold evening, looking at the stars. The staff is absolutely attentive and helpful. We felt very much taken care of in the hotel!
The hotel was great, and we do not have any complains, although the structure is a bit outdated, we thought it added to the charm

Reviewed Jan 8, 2026Die Gegend ist besonders. Das Onsen im Hotel ist toll. Die Nichtraucherräume sind sehr gut. Das Restaurant is einfach aber lecker. Im shop gibt es guten Tee, von einem kleinen lokalen Produzenten.
Als nixhtraucher sind die Raucherräume nicht geeignet. (kann man vorab buchen)

I travelled to over 34 countries so far and have stayed in homestay, guesthouses and from 1-5* hotels but it's the first time I check out without a shower! As I understood I could not use the Onsen baths because of my tattoo and I respect that. Since there was no shower in the rooms I thought they would have one on each floor... Well I was wrong to find out that not even 1 shared shower room was available for the guests with a tattoo in a 3* hotel.This did not even happen to me in undeveloped countries such as India, Vietnam, Laos etc... At least they gave me a bucket of water to wash myself in! If you have a tattoo you can't even get a shower since it's common baths only!!!

Reviewed Jan 2, 2026温泉が気持ちよかったです！ 30代前半、普段運動は全くしないので、口コミで大浴場が少し遠いことを懸念してたものの、エレベーターもあるので全く気になりませんでした！ アイスの自販機があり、買おうとしたら万札しかなかったのですが、夜中でもスタッフの方が両替して下さり、サービスも文句なしです！
