Struttura vecchia, fatiscente e maleodorante. Siamo scappati dopo una notte, abbiamo ne abbiamo pagate 3, perché era impossibile prendere sonno a causa del cattivo odore. Tra l’altro carissimo!

La struttura è veramente ben tenuta e davvero pulitissima (avevamo il bagno in comune ma è come se lo avessimo privato). Per concludere l’accoglienza di Bungo e sua madre è stata eccezionale!

La camera è davvero bellissima, i futon comodissimi e tutto super pulito. Bungo, il nostro host,è stato davvero gentilissimo, parla molto bene l’inglese e appena siamo arrivati ci ha fornito una mappa e ci ha consigliato cosa vedere a Kanazawa; inoltre mi aveva già inviato delle liste su Google maps di luoghi in cui poter mangiare e altre attrazioni. La posizione del ryokan è davvero ottima, si possono raggiungere a piedi molti luoghi di interesse.

Reviewed Jul 21, 2026This was our favourite accommodation in Japan. Our room was spacious and extremely well-appointed and looked onto a delightful Japanese garden. The ryokan is in an excellent position, within walking distance of the castle, the fabulous markets and the historic Higashi-chaya district. Host Bungo-san, whose family has operated a business on the site for over 100 years, was extremely helpful and a source of valuable local information.
Nothing was wrong with this place.

Possibilité d'un onsen privatif en famille très agréable au sous-sol de l'auberge. Calme et propreté pour l'établissement. L'hôte et sa maman fort sympathiques donnant des conseils pour les visites dans les différents quartiers.

Bungo was a great host - guiding me through the property during check in, giving me a run-down of the stuff to see in Kanazawa, and helping me make a reservation at Myouryuji Temple. His mother was very hospitable as well. Even though I only spoke a few words of japanese she still greeted me often and helped me reserve a turn with the private bath. Charming, traditional room with all the necessary modern amenities. The bath was a incredible after long, humid days of walking. It seems to be very well maintained and cleaned often as well.
Super thin walls. Still, there are quiet hours and people respected them so it was mostly just the inevitable moving, rustling, walking around.

Destacamos la ubicación, la limpieza y que el onsen se pueda usar de forma privada. Además nos ayudaron con el envío de maletas al siguiente destino. Nos sentimos como en casa. Les chambres traditionnelles sont spacieuses, d'une propreté irréprochable et les futons sont très confortables. Le véritable point fort reste l'accueil. Merci à Bungo-san : sa gentillesse, sa bienveillance et ses recommandations font toute la différence. Une immersion magique à Kanazawa, nous recommandons les yeux fermés !

The atmosphere is wonderful and the ryokan location is perfect for visiting most areas of Kanazawa (less than 10 minutes walk from most of them). It is also very close to the Omicho Market.
You can only check-in before 9pm, however that is perfectly understandable due to how the ryokan works.

Beaucoup de renseignements pour améliorer notre séjour et une grande disponibilité pour répondre à nos questions. Nous étions très heureux de découvrir ce ryokan à quelques pas du château et du parc Kenroku-en. Le onsen disponible sur le principe de premier-arriver-premier-servi à été apprécié par notre groupe. Bien que vous aurez parfois à vous déplacer pour valider la disponibilité. Dans la grande chambre, nous partagions la vue sur le jardin intérieur avec une autre chambre donc nous avons plus souvent que prévu garder nos panneaux fermés pour éviter le regard des voisins. On recommande sans hésiter. Notre séjour à Kanazawa a été une réussite et le Ryokan Yamamuro en est l'une des raisons.

Le propriétaire, Bungo, nous a extrêmement bien reçu et nous a donné toutes les informations sur la ville et visites à faire. On s’est sentis comme à la maison. Chambre à la japonaise très jolie et très propre. Les bains privatifs très agréables et très bien entretenus. On a adoré et y reviendrons si nous repassons par Kanazawa.

There are plenty of nice pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as a fish market. There's a traditional Japanese bathroom in the basement. I definitely recommend this place.

Bungo-san was such a sweet, attentive host, and he walked me through every interesting attraction in the area when I arrived and offered to help me with making any reservations I needed in the area. He also carried my (very heavy) suitcase up to my room for me. He is very kind and welcoming. A few days before I arrived, he even sent me links to Google Maps with their recommendations for places to eat, shop and find activities, which I particularly appreciated! The ryokan is also perfectly located - I got everywhere I needed on foot except for one time I took a bus, and Bungo-san also gave me local maps with transit information. He was so so so helpful, I cannot speak highly enough of his hospitality. The onsen was also lovely!
It was an older building with fairly thin walls, so it was a little hard to fall asleep, but I really didn't mind that much! Bungo-san provided a list of requests for guests, which included how to care for tatami mat rooms and a request to be mindful of noise at night, which I think everyone respected, some things just can't be helped but it didn't negatively affect my experience here. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Reviewed Feb 14, 2026Struttura pulita e accogliente, dormire sul futon è un'esperienza da fare assolutamente! Bungo-san è stato un host incredibile, sempre gentile, disponibile e attento a ogni esigenza. Non potevamo davvero chiedere di meglio. Speriamo di poter tornare prima o poi!

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026Location was great--very close to a city bus line and within walking distance of many attractions. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. I liked the common room that we could use to relax in. The inn and the neighborhood were very quiet.
