Provider-sourced guest reviews.
This place was an amazing experience. I would love to come back again. Everything: the public and private onsens, the quiet and privateness, the meals, the overall attention and care of the staff, the rooms, and the entire property - all of it was a wonderful experience! Highly, highly recommend.
Don’t believe the one star reviews, this is an amazing, authentic experience with wonderful hosts. The property is spotless - this is a mineral spa and there will be deposits on the spa baths. The food is wonderful but they will struggle with significant dietary restrictions. We don’t eat meat and confirmed a couple of times this was OK well before we arrived. This is a Japanese resort. If you aren’t keen on an immersive experience this is not for you. The weather was terrible when we stayed and we still loved every minute. Including the wine bar! Hot tip. Arrive early for the drumming show. Both nights we stayed were standing room.
Extraordinary service and hospitality! Facilities, wine tasting lounge and drum show were unique and enjoyable. Plenty of space for all guests except during drumming show Sunday evenings - Our only frustration was the poor internet service - we had a bit of medical work to handle and could not connect to and maintain connection with internet in our rooms. Our onsen and room was fabulous.
Everything was fabulous
This resort is an amazing all-inclusive place with the wine lounge access. The gardens are beyond amazing—they go on and on. They must have many gardeners on staff. Inclusive kaiseki meal was excellent, much better than normal resort food. Private onsen on the balcony was so special and perfect. The wine lounge was phenomenal with unlimited tasting portions of wines from all around Japan. The drumming performance was a nice touch for evening entertainment. The hotel bar and izakaya were great for later night options (the bar looks out over the magical gardens). A really special place that we’d return to. Mount Fuji is right there too, although if you want to see it, don’t visit in the summer. Loved the samurai pjs to wear around and the yukata. I’d give this resort 5 stars if only they would have certain hours reserved in the onsen for guests with tattoos. We did book a room with a private onsen, but would have loved to use the bigger facilities.
Amazing food and a most stay if traveling to Fuji🙌
Very good service provided by the staff and a range of activities available! Hotel shuttle available to Kawaguchiko station making it very convenient!
The most pampered I have ever felt. This is a place you’d want to come for your honeymoon. 100/10
It’s my second time going to the Hotel, and I fully recommend going because I will be going again!
Can't say enough good things about this place. Very relaxing, dinner was lovely, staff was very friendly and provided an excellent view of my Fury. Will for sure stay again.
Great experience! Absolutely worth going to! Beautiful atmosphere, gardens, amenities, it felt like a scene from a movie, loved it all. For sure stay for a minimum of 2 days to really enjoy what they have to offer
This is an experience I wholly recommend to all coming to Japan. Exceptional staff who did a great job describing the amenities and things to do from the check-in. As well as an amazing view of mount Fuji. The roof-top Onsen was a once in a lifetime experience for me and my friends and a memory we all cherish. The garden was also beautiful and great place to walk around and enjoy nature in during the day and night. The only bad part was leaving.
The hotel has many amazing amenities and the Onsen and food was amazing, as well as the garden around it. However, the service was very poor, and when we were checking out, they changed the fee to be over 400 dollars more expensive, denied that the original price which they had written on a sheet during our check in was cheaper, and threatened to call the police when we questioned them.
An excellent view of Mt. Fuji, wonderful food and amazing staff. Definitely the highlight of my trip.
Beautiful setting/location. Delicious food.
Wonderful location! Great view of Mt. Fuji (at least 1 day! The other day of a 1 night stay, it was too cloudy to see, but obviously the hotel has no control of weather). Delicious kaiseki dinner! And exceptionally friendly and hospitable staff! I highly recommend the hotel!
Excellent facility and service.
We booked a room with private onsen with mount fuji view - it was honestly a great experience (apart from the fact we were lucky enough to wake up to mount fuji). The resort itself, while built a long time back, is reasonably well maintained. The tatami room is a treat and my 1.5yo absolutely loved it. There were so much to do everyday, from trying out yukata to tea appreciation to drum performance in the evening and wine tasting. If I were to go back to Mt Fuji area, I will no doubt choose this property again. Also special mention to the wonderful Ms Fukunaga. She took such good care of us including our 1.5yo. She's an asset to the resort for sure!
Our view of Mt. Fuji was incredible. Lucky we got our pictures in right away because once it disappeared, we didn't see it again. Food, grounds and onsen at Kaneyamaen were first class. We really enjoyed our stay.
We loved our stay here. The service was exceptional. We took a Japanese style room with in-room dining. We really liked the full course meal served in room. There was a drum show at night which was fun. The on-site hot spring with views of Mt Fuji was an awesome experience. They had it split by gender so females could go in the evening and males in the morning. They also have a wine lounge with free wine, snacks and ice cream that we really enjoyed. In the morning, we could get coffee here with great views of Mt. Fuji. In the evening, they have a tea and snack. We did not enjoy the tea but that may be up to personal preferences. Overall, we would highly recommend this place for views of Mt Fuji, calm secluded stays, and a real experience of Japanese hospitality.
This hotel offers SO much. Two onsens, restaurants, lounges, free kimono rental, drum performance, karaoke, beautiful gardens, tea, massages, facials, half-board dinner, and a fantastic view of Mount Fuji (if you go on a good day!) We stayed two nights and were not able to do it all. If you want a relaxing stay with plenty to do just in the hotel, this is an excellent choice and a major highlight of our trip to Japan. I went to the rooftop Onsen early in the morning and had the most spectacular view of Mount Fuji. I literally visited the onsen four times in two days…and had the Onsen all to myself multiple times. Plus, the wine lounge is unlimited wine, coffee, tea, bar snacks, and ice cream! I cannot recommend this hotel enough and we are already hoping to book again!!
Lots of activities in hotel.
This property was amazing, the hotel and rooms were beautiful. The private in room onsen and view of Mt Fuji from our room was incredible. The staff was top notch, friendly, professional & very helpful, having most of the checkin process in the room was very nice. Amenities & food were excellent! Also the garden and grounds were beautiful and a true nature lovers paradise. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel.
Hotel with magnificent view and beautiful.
Traditional Japanese Onsen offering a great authentic experience. Sleeping in the floor wasn’t comfortable but this is part of the deal. Great food, but no western options so if you don’t like Japanese cuisine you won’t have much else to eat
Loved staying here! Get the wine tasting bar access, it's worth it.
Beautiful
The hotel is a destination in and of itself. Dining, entertainment and public/private baths are available without needing to leave the facility. The view of Mt Fuji is fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay.
outstanding service and accommodation
Firstly our room was amazing. We were on a high floor, which gave us incredible views of Mount Fuji when the weather was clear, absolutely a highlight of the trip. The room itself was spotless, with beautiful, high-quality furnishings that made it feel really special and comfortable and we had our own private onsen on the covered outdoor balcony area. We chose a western style room here rather than Futons. Once you check in, everyone can go to the kimono shop and choose one to wear around the hotel no extra cost a really nice touch. The hotel had some fun activities that we really enjoyed. Every night, they hosted a drums and bingo event, which was great. Other than those events, though, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a bar with any real atmosphere. It would’ve been nice to have a cozy spot to grab a drink and unwind in the evening with a bit more atmosphere. There is a club lounge if you book the drinks package, but it was super busy and definitely not enough seats every evening. The biggest challenge for us was the dining situation. We had to eat the same type of very traditional Japanese food every evening in a private room. The food was excellent quality and beautifully presented. However, There weren’t any other options if you wanted something different, like a more Western-style dish or even just a quick snack. They do have a Yakitori style snack bar, but it doesn’t open until 9 PM, so it’s not available for lunch or earlier in the day. That was a bit frustrating, especially when you’re craving something simple or varied. There are a few snacks available in the hotel reception gift shop area, though so we bought some pot noodles and made them in our room with the hot water from the kettle! The staff tried their best, but they didn’t speak much English at all which was surprising. We always make an effort to speak Japanese ourselves with google translate , but since this hotel is so close to Mount Fuji and attracts a lot of international guests, it would’ve been really helpful if communication was a bit easier. Even though it was very difficult with the communication, I did managed to book myself a wonderful massage at the Spa and find it! Overall, the location is absolutely lovely. The hotel is set in stunning grounds.
Service per excellence
Amazing place to stay. The gardens and views were stunning. The dinner is average for vegetarians.
Was a great stay definiteley worth it.
This is a beautiful resort hotel with hot springs bath that offers view of Mt Fuji. Excellent service, breakfast buffet and private dining room for traditional Japanese dinner. Many extras including hotel shuttle to train station and traditional drum show, access to wine lounge. Friendly staff that speak English.
An unforgettable experience for our honeymoon. Thank you for wonderful hospitality!
Great place to relax
We loved this hotel, however it is BIG! The service is amazing and the onsens are fantastic. The garden is also very beautiful. It lacks in walk ability, although we did make the track into town which took about 20 minutes on a busy farm road. The drum show and tea ceremony which are both complementary were both lovely. The dinner set was 9 small courses and were of fantastic quality, but we were definitely tired of sashimi by this time. The breakfast is buffet style and offers many choices from pancakes to miso soup and fish. We chose this hotel specifically for the private onsen and that did not disappoint myself or my teenage daughter. The public onsen that I used were also very nice. The view of mnt Fuji is stunning.
My family & I had a wonderful experience and time at this beautiful & welcoming onsen! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for full relaxation at a peaceful remote location outside of the city.
Exceptional service!
Simply amazing experience to have private open air hot spring within our room. Service was absolutely amazing and excellent from all staff. Thanks for the unique experience!
Wonderful location and service. Beautiful grounds. Excellent range at breakfast though many large groups. Excellent wine bar that we paid for as part of the booking. Self help to over 30 types of Japanese wine and premium snacks. Plus wonderful onsen in the room. Would stay again
Very nice hotel, conveniently located near the Kawaguchiko station. Great view of the lake and Mount Fuji. Kaiseki dinner was great and breakfast was very good, also.
Amazing views, spectacular room, excellent hospitality. We love staying here - all the food and amenities are fantastic. The onsen was lovely in the cold weather. We wished we were staying longer!
Good to develop more leisure activity options in the hotel i.e., Japanese traditional board game or puzzles so guests can do thing during their stay in the hotel, particularly in winter.
We originally booked a room was 42 meeter square feet and paid in full. By the time we arrived, the room hotel assigned us was 20 meter square feet! We told them , we would like to be upgraded and pay for the extra. Because they were over sold , so there was no room available . We were considered change another hotel, the front desk told us , we were not going to be refunded! My husband and I travel all over the world and never experienced anything anything like this before. The worst thing is, we paid for bigger room and was given the smallest room entire hotel , and not refund us the money difference! The behavior of this hotel already break the law, because they sold us one room and gave us another room. Charge us bigger room and did not refund us the money…
Outstanding service and we love everything about our stay.
Beautiful property with unmatched views of Mt Fuji. The experiences were memorable, food was delicious, and the hot springs were a great way to rest our weary bodies from all the hectic travel around Japan!
Best ryokan Onsen experience. The service provided by the hotel is superb. The onsen experience here is top notch
Staff was friendly. Although the information was too dense. Maybe an email explaining the rules beforehand would be helpful
Great stay! Wonderful facilities. We tried the room with two futons, they were not very thick so a bit uncomfortable, but part of the experience. The bar was a lot of fun, but it would be better if only for adults. Dinner is highly recommended! Each night something new and delicious. On the last night there was a bird trapped in the room vent. The flapping kept us up a bit at night. I mentioned it in the morning to the staff in hopes that they could get it out. I would have hoped to get a drink comped or something, but they just said thanks. Overall a good stay.
We had a fantastic stay, From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The check-in process was seamless, and my room was impeccably clean, spacious. We enjoy so much.
THIS PLACE WAS BY FAR THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN!!!
If you are looking for a genuine Asian experience THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. The service is SECOND TO NONE!!!! Beware the bedding is not the most comfortable if you prefer a softer bedding. But everything else was PERFECT.
A truly amazing property with a beautiful garden. Lots to do and explore outside of just the regular stay. Complimentary Mini tea ceremony and sake were great!
We stayed in a Western style Sanri room which had a private onsen with a view of Mt Fuji. The room is pricey but so worth it! The hotel provides shuttle service from 2 nearby train stations. The view was amazing! Mt Fuji was literally 5 blocks from the hotel! You could see it in full view from the window bench seat in our room and from the balcony. The onsen on the balcony was perfect! (My husband has a full sleeve tattoo so we decided to get the private onsen). Tattoos are only allowed in the public onsen if they are small and can be covered with a bandage. But I think it was better to share the experience of the onsen together vs going to a men or women’s one by ourselves. They provide you with a yukata which everyone wears around the hotel property. You can also rent a nicer one in the boutique in the lobby for free or there’s fancier ones to rent for a price. Pajamas are also provided. The reservation came with a kaiseki dinner and a breakfast buffet (with American and Japanese style food). I emailed the hotel in advance that we are allergic to seafood and they were so accommodating to alter the dinner for us. Service was awesome! The 2 lounges we had access to were great! Unlimited wine and a beer on tap! And a freezer with Haagen Daz & Godiva ice cream! They even have a nightly taiko drum performance in the lobby. The garden was also amazing which they light up at night. There’s also a foot onsen in the garden. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
Staffs are very friendly & helpful
I cannot say enough good things about this property. I felt like I was royalty from the second pulled up in our taxi cab. The staff was absolutely amazing. The amenities were amazing. Our room was amazing. Honestly I wish I would have booked more than two days here.
The hotel was very traditional and in a great location. The garden was beautiful and the staff were very friendly.
Absolutely amazing. The staff was amazing. The room , especially the one with the private onsen was superb. We particularly enjoyed the wine lounge. The dinner service were exquisite.
Super great experience !!!
The long-awaited Fuji Garden-style natural hot spring(Onsen) hotel with half board did not disappoint. Just like the name of the hotel, "Garden and Touching Inn". It not only has several natural springs public bath, but also the largest Japanese garden at the foot of Mount Fuji, which is beautiful all year round. The infinity multi-layer hot spring pool on the top floor offers an unobstructed view of Mount Fuji. There is also a large public bath on the first floor, divided into men's and women's baths, each with indoor and outdoor areas. There is also a QR code at the elevator entrance that can be scanned to instantly check the number of people bathing in the hot spring to avoid peak hours. My mom and I took a bath three times outdoors, which was very comfortable😌 The hotel also has a lot of activities, including kaiseki dinner, tasting green tea and snacks, hot spring foot bath in the courtyard, renting traditional costumes, even the cheapest colorful yukata like us looks good, and the Yamanashi Lounge with free and unlimited wine (produced in Yamanashi locally), beer, snacks, Haagen-Dazs/Godiva ice cream. In the evening, there are drum performances by strong men (20 minutes of non-stop, uniform, firm and powerful drums, and every sound hits the heart) and Bingo lottery activities, which are really worth the room price. Only drawback was breakfast not very tasty although lots of options. And it was 10 mins drive from Kawaguchiko station which needs to book shuttle bus.
Amazing place to stay near Fuji! We definitely will be back the next time we travel in Japan! Beautiful grounds on the property, amazing onsen (both on the roof and on the ground floor), incredible staff, can't say enough thank you to all the staff. Very nice drum show after the dinner and the most comfortable bed out of all hotels we stayed in Japan (felt like sleeping in the clouds), great buffet breakfast. Overall one of the best hotels we stayed at in Japan!
Nice scenery around the hotel, onzen is good too. The staff is not friendly .. sob sob … especially dinner services.
The service is excellent! Only thing I would recommend that if they would have more English speakers fluent on the front desk service! Thank you!
For a hotel that charges 600 sgd per night , they only provide two bottles of water. Additional water is chargeable. Bathroom walls were made of wood, which were half mouldy. Other than that, service and food provided was good. The view of Mt fuji was worth it.
very good service
Great Onsen. Fantastic Japanese experience! Magnificent garden. Excellent food.
Amazing hotel! A shame it was too cloudy to see my Fuji from our room.
The in-room onsen (sanri room) was incredible. Beautiful gardens for walking and plenty of food options and amenities.
Very nice hotel
Amazing place, we had private onsen room and it was so beautiful. You need to be able to speak a little Japanese to get the full experience. Would highly recommend
I booked two different types of room for two nights. The hotel offers me to stay in the first room until the second room is ready to check in. That impressive me and make me more relax. All the staffs are friendly and nice. And all the plant decoration in every corner of the hotel are fresh and pretty. Food quality is good and I love the Japanese style Buffett breakfast ( they also have western style buffet too). I will come back to visit for sure
Amazing !
Amazing experience, beautiful gardens, loved the private onsen
Fantastic hotel with a beautiful view of Mt Fuji, but it was unfortunately obscured by clouds during our visit. Wonderful service from a very warm staff who can speak impeccable English. Awesome service!
This hotel offers a really nice garden and foot bath to allow your feet to relax after a long day of exploring the Kawaguchiko fuji area. The hotel’s room I stayed was a bit worn out but the style of the tatami bedding was comfortable. Room is really spacious … their breakfast buffet has large selection of food choice, their kaiseki dinner was so delicious and fresh …
The property and staff were amazing. The purpose of our stay was to enjoy the majestic view of Mt. Fuji. We were not able to see the mountain but we still enjoyed the food, the onsen and the taiko program.
This was one of the most beautiful hotels and areas we have ever stayed at. The staff was super kind, helpful, and fun. The dinner included with our reservation was top tier and the outside gardens were absolutely gorgeous. We spent most of our time walking around enjoying the garden in between dinner and the onsen. We can not wait to visit here again.
This hotel exceeded all of my expectations. Our room was massive and comfortable. I loved wearing the jinbei provided, as well as the yukata from the shop on property. Having our own private onsen was magical and the view of Mt Fuji while enjoying it was spectacular. The rooftop onsen was also beautiful, as were the gardens, tea house, and outdoor foot bath. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, and service was always impeccable. The breakfast buffet had a ton of great options (I love the omelet station) and the nightly dinner was incredible: the quality of the food and its presentation was amazing. The drumming after dinner was captivating. The hotel location is convenient - we drove to 5th station, the panoramic ropeway, and surrounding lakes and attractions in no time. We loved our stay at this property and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and authentic experience near Mt Fuji.
Relaxing time at hotel.
The garden was beautiful. Variety wines at the lounge. There’s Uno game after the drum show. The staff at souvenir shop very helpful and kind. One thing I didn't like was that I stayed 2 nights. I went back to the tea service on the 2nd day because I got a daily tea coupon. The staff looked surprised and asked if I had come yesterday and asked another staff to check again even though the coupons were different colors. The staff served the dessert first and then the tea. The dessert was so sweet and I wanted to wait for the tea to go with it. But the staff kept telling me to eat the dessert quickly and leave quickly because other guests would come in. The room was so beautiful and I just wanted to enjoy it.
We had a fabulous time at Hotel Kaneyamaen. Our room was extremely spacious, the food and amenities were amazing. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay near Mt Fuji.
The staff is the best. They are the definition of hospitality! There’s not a single thing I can complain about them. Only reason I did not give all 5s is due to cockroach in our room that left quite an impression on us during our stay. But even then the staff gave and took care of it for us. Aside from that small thing the property itself is beautiful and peaceful, it is honestly the perfect getaway.
Fujisan Onsen Hotel Kaneyamaen is a serene retreat boasting a captivating Japanese garden and a mesmerizing drum performance that truly immerses guests in local culture. The ambiance is enchanting, complemented by this unique entertainment. While the experience is exceptional, it would be beneficial for the front desk staff to enhance their English communication skills to ensure a smoother experience for international visitors. Overall, a delightful stay with unforgettable highlights!
Beautiful scenery, amazing staff and experience and a highlight to anyones trip through japan
We loved our stay! Wish we could have stayed for more than one night. We were warmly welcomed and they checked us in a bit early. The room was beautiful and clean. Loved the onsen bath with a view of Mt Fuji on our balcony! The ryokan also offered great amenities: free tea, drum show, free wine bar with snacks, yukata to borrow or rent, and the rooftop onsen with views of Mt Fuji! It was a very relaxing and wonderful stop in the middle of a 2 week long Japan vacation
Was one of the best experiences of our trip. If we ever travel to Japan again, this will be a must.
We have the private onsen room plus the mt fuji view and very friendly staff, wonderful food, this place is worth every penny.
This is such a Beautiful hotel. The grounds are breathtaking, the room was a traditional ryokan. Get a room with a personal hot spring if possible. Such a treat! The dining experience was top notch. If you want a traditional Japanese experience this hotel provides that.
Extraordinary hotel with amazing amenities and the best customer service. Private onsens in some rooms and rooftop onsen has great view of Mt. Fuji.

The service is outstanding, with attentive staff ensuring every detail of your stay is perfect. The food is a highlight, featuring beautifully presented kaiseki meals made from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, blending traditional design with modern amenities. Many offer private onsen baths with breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji. The serene ambiance, lush gardens, and peaceful onsen create an atmosphere of complete relaxation. Overall, it's the perfect retreat for a luxurious and tranquil Japanese getaway.
really good
Everything is soooo good here… highly recommended
Very nice property. Large gardens, fountains, waterfalls everywhere inside and out around the property. Has its own shuttle to Mt Fuji station or other stations in the area. Staff were amazing. Free kimono and Japanese pajama rental. Free show and bingo after at 8pm. The meal package was amazing, breakfast buffet was massive, dinner was a 7 course meal. Also, a free wine lounge with snacks and alcohol available. Can't say enough good things, would go again.
Very good
There are many wonderful aspects to this hotel. Great common areas, nice public onsen, great breakfast. Rooms are small for three people, highly dated, smell musty and gross and ours actually smelled of smoke. Service meh. Not worth the money and was surprisingly so as everywhere else in Japan exceeded our expectations
Such a lovely stay at this resort! Best part of my trip to Japan!
Very traditional Japanese hotel surrounded by all natural forests. Kids friendly, a lot of entertaining events and shows. Beautiful stuffs with excellent service. My daughter forgot her little bag at hotel, they even help us sent it to the bus station before we go back to Tokyo! We will definitely come back again!
