Honnêtement rien, les chambres ne sont évidemment pas insonorisés mais globalement les gens respectent bien les règles !

Reviewed Sep 7, 2026There was an onsen in the building. The train and ropeway station is close.
The building is old, so the facilities are not the best. The walls are thin, so you can hear everything. We stayed close to the stairs, so we could hear every movement from our room. I even noticed some rooms with a huge gap between the door and the ceiling, which compromised privacy as people could see inside from the hallway. Additionally, the lighting was quite weak. There is only one male toilet for around 10 rooms on the 2nd floor. The onsen booking system is not the best; slots get filled very quickly, and 40 minutes is perhaps too long—it would be better to have shorter, more frequent slots. Also, the closest convenience store is a 25-minute walk away.

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026This is a great base for exploring the Gora area. Although the accommodation is Spartan it’s clean and the staff are great. The toilets are shared and the two onsen are free to use. The bar opens at 5 with a range of drinks.
There is no restaurant at the property but it’s not a big problem as the cafe just down the road is open from 8am till 4.30pm. Great food for breakfast and lunch. There are several good restaurants nearby

Reviewed Aug 28, 2026We stayed as a family of 4 in a newly converted building opposite the main hostel. The stay was rustic but really well designed and allowed us great views of Hakone. You are in the countryside so there are obviously bugs and a few creepy crawlies but to be expected. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and being able to use the private onsen was a blessing with shy teenagers! The hostel is about a 5 minute walk from the station.
Limited breakfast & restaurant options nearby, which took a bit of planning, particularly the breakfast part!

Reviewed Aug 28, 2026Es perfecto, tienes todo lo que necesitas, todo está nuevo y súper limpio, quiero aclarar varias cosas que veo que no están muy claras, no está tan lejos como parece, y la cuesta de la puedes ahorrar subiendo en el tren, según llegas a la estación coges el tren y en la segunda estación te bajas, cruzas el puente y en 5 minutos estás en el Ryokan. No tuvimos problema con el Onsen gratuito fuimos varias veces y estaba solo, estaba genial, súper limpio! Las zonas comunes están perfectamente organizadas, con todos lo que necesitas para desayunar, cenar… Muy importante, las habitaciones tienen WC y lavamanos no tienes que salir de la habitación a zonas comunes, eso nos encantó! Te dejan en la habitación juegos (a nosotros nos vino genial porque ese día llovió mucho y no pudimos hacer la ruta de transportes) hervidor, te, tazas, plancha, secador… Lo recomiendo muchísimo!!

De accomadatie had ons goed geinformeerd over hoe we hen met het openbaar vervoer konden bereiken, helaas hadden wij dit zelf niet op tijd gezien (onze fout!) en is het met de bus nog een heel eindje te voet. Bij aankomst hebben ze ons onmiddellijk goed opgevangen.

Posizione straordinaria. A fare la vera differenza è stata l'accoglienza di Aby. Gentile, disponibile assolutamente presente. Non dimentichiamo di citare le due Onsen.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026We absolutely loved our stay at Hakone Tent! The whole place has such a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in the family apartment for five people, and it was perfect—spacious, well equipped, and very comfortable. The location is also excellent, making it very easy to explore Hakone. Everyone on the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. A special thanks to Abi, who was especially friendly and made us feel right at home. The onsen was fantastic and the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring Hakone. We absolutely loved the vibe of this place. It has so much warmth and character. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hakone!

Reviewed Jul 22, 2026Fabulous staff and location. Great atmosphere and social spaces. Generous room (2 people.in a 3 person room) and great old character. Two lovely onsen and a great shower space.
The building is not young amd as such she has some creaks and cracks and therenis no sound proofing, but! Ear plugs are provided and the aircon is a great white noise machine. Excellent space, pools and staff for the money.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026Bel hôtel à proximité de la station Gora Hakone. Les 2 onsens privatifs sont un vrai plus. Les chambres sont propres et le personnel est très gentil. Il y a une cuisine pour prendre ses repas et un bar.
Pas de nourriture proposée le matin ou le soir, à prévoir si vous arrivez un peu tard ou bien un jour où les restaurants à proximité sont fermés. La supérette la plus proche est à la gare précédente.

The room had a really strange smell like cabbage lol. The pillows and bedding also had the same bad smell. You also are expected to make and strip the beds and clean up the room. The price does not reflect this.

Reviewed Jul 5, 2026The property is located just a 2-3 minute walk from the Gora Station making it very convenient. The staff is very friendly.
The facilites were not as clean as I would have liked. It felt more like a hostel. There were 2 small bathrooms for about 30 guests and although there was never a wait for the facilites they kind of gave me the ick. It didn’t feel like they were cleaned very often and with that many people using just 1-2 facilities, they should have been cleaned more often. The futons were very uncomfortable and I would opt for a bed next time.

The staff there are very friendly and helpful, so feel free to converse with them. I also really enjoyed the onsen facilities after a long day of exploring - they are private (one group in-used at a time), and there are shower facilities if you're up for it. There's a balcony up there too to enjoy the cool air of the night, which is especially nice when drinking the beer bought from the guesthouse bar.

Reviewed Jul 2, 2026A lovely stay in Hakone - it was cool to get the experience of sleeping on a futon! Rooms are reasonable size and set-up with bedding (you can ask for an extra futon). The private onsen was great and good booking system for this to reserve a spot each day for your room. Good location and with the new cafe just down the road for a breakfast option as well.
Thin walls/doors with the more traditional set-up, unfortunately some other guests one of the days were very loud. Shared bathrooms but these were fine.

I am not used to sleep on futon beds but the staff offered us a second layer which helped. The rooms are a bit noisy because of the thin walls.

Ik vond het erg onplezierig hoe ik mijn kamer niet echt kon afsluiten. De deur sloot met een traditioneel hangslot en aan de onder en bovenkant waren er gewoon openingen. Ik had niet het idee dat mijn spullen nou heel erg veilig waren in mijn kamer, omdat iedereen deze deur wel open zou kunnen slopen. Ook was er maar een klein raampje in mijn kamer.

If you’re a light sleeper then this might not be the right place for you, afterall it’s a 90year old establishment, all rooms are upstairs but some amenities are downstairs so people will be going up and down the stairs. Also showers / toilets are shared so keep that in mind.

What a great accommodation with floor to ceiling windows and everything you would need for an extended stay. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We sat at the bar after checking in and chatted with the staff like they were old friends making recommendations for dinner. Couldn’t have been more pleased.

Reviewed Jun 3, 2026Personeel met name Haruna was Super vriendelijk. Spraken goed Engels we kregen zelfs een rondleiding. De prive onzen was geweldig. Ze werken met een tijdslot. Keuken was geweldig. Vaak ook gezellig me[ andere gasten. Bar was ook gezellig. De kamer was heel ruim. De coffee ten[ omd| hoek is een zusterbedrijf.heel lekker en we kregen korting. De koffers kregen we hulp bij naar boven.
Liggen op een futon bed viel erg tegen. Al had ik er wel 2 gehad. Ik ben vrij zwaar maar ook mijn zoon die licht is vond het pijnlijk ligen. de kamers zijn erg gehorig en ondanks de waarschuwing dat men na 2200 stil moet zijn was dat onze eerste nacht niet. Receptie sluit om 2200 dus je kunt ook niet klagen. Wel stopte het gegiebel na een tik op de muur. Er zijn twee baden en ook die zijn gehorig. We hadden de pech dat twee meiden nonstop hebben zitten kletsen terwijl wij wilden ontspannen. Oh ja je moet een vrij steile heuvel op. Hij went wel.

Reviewed May 30, 2026Wszystko. Pokój zgodny z opisem, bliskość do stacji kolejowej, prywatny onsen to najlepsza rzecz jaka moze spotkać człowieka wieczorem po całym dniu aktywności. Onseny publiczne mnie nie przekonują więc tu czułam się cudownie.

Reviewed May 28, 2026여행중 만난 가장 친절한 직원들과 온천으로 지친 몸과 마음이 풀충전. 핰ㅎ네에서 어디든 자유롭게 이동가능한 너무 편한 위치와 근처 산책 가능한 공원과 전시관이 많아 이동이 너무 편리했습니다. 편의점도 가까이 위치해 있어서 너무 좋았습니다. 산에 위치해서 언덕이 있는것은 큰 부담이 되진언앗지만 어린 아이와 함께하는건 추천하지 않습니다. 역에서 가까워 이동이 너무 편리합니다.
언덕에 위치하여 케리어 이동시 부담됐지만 직원들의 친절함에 충분히 이용 할만합니다.

Les hôtes étaient très gentils, et l'ambiance était bonne : familiale mais avec nos coins privés. La chambre est bien privée et non partagée. Le système de bain réservé est parfait et les onsens étaient des vrais avec l'eau des montagnes

Reviewed May 20, 2026We had a lovely time in Hakone Tent, the staff, especially Abi were so welcoming and gave us local recommendations for activities and places to eat. The facilities were amazing. The private Onsen was so relaxing and spacious.

Reviewed May 20, 2026Very good vibe in this hostel. The staff is very sympathic. The common space is nice, hostful, with some books and board games. The kitchen is well-equipped, the bathroom too. And the big point is the onsen !! You can enjoy a common onsen or book a private one for free ! There is also a bar which is very pleasant.
Maybe the beds could be more comfortable.

Onsen Bereich könnte sauberer sein , bessere Beleuchtung, eventuell neuere duschköpfe besorgen.

Reviewed May 10, 2026Ryokan styled accomodation created a great Japanese experience. Facilities were clean and natural onsen was a great feature.
Even though they mentioned multiple times responding to guests on booking.com that the onsen includes “no additional fees” and is free of charge. Employee was still charging guests a fee/tax each time they use the onsen. That they only wanted paid in cash, even though there was no where written in the venue or when booking to indicate otherwise. We just weren’t sure if we were getting scammed or if it was legit. Either way was a good stay and still recommend staying here, just a bit of confusion that’s all.

Reviewed May 8, 2026The people is really nice and kind, also we arrive late and they were worried about us. And no matter the delay they received us in the most kind way. The onsen is really good and relaxing. At least my suggestion is don't be shy to ask for an extra futon if you want it.

1.現在住宿已經沒有早餐及晚餐可以購買嘍！強羅附近沒有便利商店，最近的便利商店是雕刻之森站旁的Lawson，記得買好再回民宿；早餐的話可以跟巷口姊妹店享用，憑溫泉稅收據可以抵扣10% 2.溫泉預約很搶手，比較晚check in的可能預約前面一點的時段，溫泉內的燈光比較昏暗，只有兩盞小燈；還有另一個先到先用不用預約的溫泉可以使用 3.因為建築為木造，沒有電梯，走路會幾拐叫，隔音沒有很好，廁所、交流廳、廚房全都是共用的喔

Reviewed Apr 24, 2026Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und gemütlich, und beide Onsen sind spektakulär schön als Grotte angelegt. Einer der Onsen ist "First Come, First Serve", was aber auch bei voll ausgebuchtem Hostel noch gut funktioniert, den anderen reserviert man morgens. Die Nassbereiche waren stets sauber und gut gepflegt. Das Gebäude ist alt/traditionell und dadurch etwas hellhörig, aber die anderen Gäste waren leise und rücksichtsvoll. Das Gebäude ist verwinkelt und charmant. Es gibt einen schönen Aufenthaltsraum mit Bar, eine Küche mit Sitzmöglichkeit und einen wettergeschützten Raucherbereich mit Sitzmöglichkeit vor der Tür. Wir haben an der Takoyaki-Party im Hostel teilgenommen, das hat viel Spaß gemacht und wir konnten so auch andere Gäste kennenlernen. Die Lage in Gora bietet sich perfekt an für die Golden Route (Standard-Tourismus-Tagestour in Hakone).
Das Bett war etwas hart, das ist aber in Japan fast überall so.

Was niet heel schoon, zwarte vlekken van vieze handen op de deuren. Bedden waren niet opgemaakt. Geen mogelijkheid om te ontbijten. Je krijg 10% korting bij naastgelegen cafe, maar het is klein, er waren geen plekken om te gaan zitten.

La cuisine équipée est un lieu convivial où tous les équipements (réfrigérateur, plaque, thé à disposition, sauces..) sont à disposition pour pouvoir se faire à manger ou manger sur place. Il est très facile de réserver le onsen la veille pour le lendemain, ou dès le matin même. Les chambres sont très grandes et les gens sont très respectueux des horaires en terme de nuisance sonore.
Il n'y avait qu'une douche fonctionnelle lors de notre séjour. Mais nous avions réservé presque chaque jour le onsen, et donc avions pu utiliser les douches dans le onsen également.

The place needs maintenance. A few things didn’t work (shower, toilet). Some of the bed covers were a little mildewy. And there is not a lot of cleanliness in the common areas (aka toilet), I believe the establishment should enforce some house rules regarding cleaning.
