Best facilities! Safari was amazing with Lonnie. He was skilled and made the outings fun. The food is amazing and Lorraine is equally amazing. She served every meal with a smile. This experience was amazing from the first day when Naomi greeted us to the last goodbyes.
Our stay was simply perfect from start to finish. The game drives were outstanding, with wonderful wildlife sightings and highly knowledgeable, engaging guides. We especially loved the sundowners and the morning coffee stops in the bush, which made the whole experience feel truly special. The food was excellent throughout. One member of our family is vegan, and the lodge arranged a dedicated vegan chef who prepared creative, delicious meals every day. This level of personal attention was exceptional. We travelled as a family with four children aged 18, 16, 16 and 14, and everyone felt completely welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service, atmosphere, accommodation and safari programme could not have been better. A truly unforgettable stay and one of the absolute highlights of our trip to South Africa.

Call for safari at 5 am
Our stay at Kapama was truly unforgettable. It was, without a doubt, the best trip I’ve ever taken. There were two main highlights. The first was the food. Every single meal was exceptional. Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and consistently delicious from breakfast to dinner. We would also like to give special recognition to Beatrice. She was absolutely amazing throughout our stay. She was always attentive to our dietary allergies, making sure we knew exactly what we could and couldn’t eat while also taking our preferences into account. Every dish she brought us was perfectly suited to our needs, and everything was always of outstanding quality. Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made our experience even more special. The second highlight was the safari experience. From our very first game drive, our tracker, Rhulani, and our driver, Kenneth, went above and beyond to make every drive unforgettable. They did everything possible—and what sometimes felt impossible—to find the animals we hoped to see. We managed to see all of the Big Five twice, and when we mentioned that we would love to see baby animals, they actively searched for mothers with their young and found them every single time. We completed six game drives, and every one of them was absolutely incredible. Rhulani and Kenneth are exceptional professionals, but even more importantly, they are genuinely kind, caring, and passionate people. They always took the time to answer every question we had, explaining animal behavior, identifying different species, and sharing fascinating details throughout each drive. Their knowledge was remarkable, and their enthusiasm made every sighting even more meaningful. They exceeded every expectation we had and played a huge part in making this the best trip of our lives. We will never forget this experience and hope to return one day.
We really enjoyed all of our time at Kapama Southern Camp. We saw so many animals up close. It was great accommodations as well as safaris.
Alec and Matt made our stay at Kapama truly unforgettable! They were, without a doubt, the best guide and tracker team we had during our entire Africa trip. Thanks to their incredible skill, we were fortunate enough to see all of the Big Five, including an amazing three different leopards! Watching Alec and Matt successfully track down the third leopard by following the impalas’ alarm calls was one of the most impressive wildlife experiences we’ve ever had. Their tracking abilities were absolutely remarkable. We also loved the night drives and were amazed at how many animals they were able to find. Alec was exceptional at explaining animal behavior, identifying tracks, and stopping for interesting sightings along the way. He struck the perfect balance between making sure we experienced as much wildlife as possible while never making us feel rushed. My son, who loves wildlife photography, especially appreciated having plenty of time to capture great photos. Beyond the game drives, Alec went above and beyond by taking us to the gym and arranging for a massage, and we thoroughly enjoyed the bush walk he guided. His knowledge, professionalism, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for the bush made every activity enjoyable and memorable. If you’re visiting Kapama, I can’t recommend Alec and Matt highly enough. They truly made our experience extraordinary, and we will always remember the incredible wildlife encounters and memories they helped create. The property is beautiful with lots of wildlife roaming the grounds and the food was great as well!
What an amazing experience. Everything was excellent, from the food and accommodations to the staff and the service. We would not change a thing. We cannot give enough praise to our guide Richard and out spotter Dee. What wonderful people to spend an adventure with. Thank you so much for making this a trip of a lifetime.
One of the nicest Villa for safari camp. The villa served great food and drinks. For safari, yes. we manage to see the big 5 in the camp. Cleanliness is good. The Atmosphere was good and relaxing. The safari staffs are very welcoming and we had a great stay in the camp. I can see the team trying their best to chase for the animals, it's indeed exciting for the chase. The team works well to ensure we get to see the big 5. We did a foot massage at the kapama river lodge, as the weather is hot, there's elephants on the river. Location is near to Kruger National Park too. Suggest to book another Kruger national park safari if you have time for more exploration for the different animals like cheetahs and others.
One of the most amazing experiences we have ever had. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for. It’s a private reserve so you are pretty much guaranteed to see the big 5 as we did, and close up as well. To be a few feet from a lion and a herd of elephants felt a real privilege. The guides are knowledgeable and the trackers know there stuff and where to go.whilst on the staff, service was first class, from the restaurants to the rooms, and the people are just simply lovely, genuinely happy to help, nothing was too much trouble. Food was also top notch, cooked fresh and lots to choose from. One word of advice, take a few layers for the early morning safaris, it’s pretty cold and also gets cold once the sun goes down, but during the day it heats up nicely. It was everything we hoped it would be and more, made special by the people.
Kappama Safari exceeded every expectation and was truly a 10/10 experience from start to finish. Every detail was thoughtfully done, from the beautiful accommodations to the incredible food, which was consistently delicious. What made our trip unforgettable was the staff. The level of hospitality and genuine care we received was unlike anything we've experienced before. Our server, Innocence, went above and beyond every single day, making every meal feel special with outstanding service, warmth, and attention to detail. Our safari guides, Petrus and Selvie, were absolutely phenomenal. Their knowledge, passion for wildlife, and ability to create unforgettable game drives made every safari exciting and memorable. They were friendly, professional, and truly made us feel like VIPs throughout our stay. The rooms were stunning, beautifully designed, comfortable, and the perfect place to relax after each adventure. Every aspect of the lodge reflected luxury while still feeling warm and welcoming. The spa was another highlight of our trip. It was peaceful, quiet, and incredibly personalized. The treatments were fantastic, and we especially loved spending time enjoying the steam room, the refreshing cold plunge, and the amazing pool. It was the perfect way to unwind between safari drives. One of the most memorable moments of our stay was our final night. The staff surprised us with a private, personalized dinner that made for the perfect ending to an incredible trip. We had also made a special request for a Father's Day dessert, and they didn't hesitate for a second. They went above and beyond to make it happen, and the thoughtful gesture meant so much to our family. It perfectly reflected the exceptional hospitality and attention to detail that we experienced throughout our entire stay. We cannot recommend Kappama Safari enough. Every member of the team made us feel welcomed, cared for, and truly special. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that exceeded all of our expectations, and we can't wait to return someday..
We had an amazing time at Kapama. They made sure we were well fed giving us plenty of times to snack and enjoy meals throughout the day and safari! Our rooms were beautiful and well kept by housekeeping twice a day. Our lovely waitress, Innocent, was beyond great and treated us to a special cake from the chef for Father’s Day and always brightened our days at meals. As for our guides, Selby and Petrus, they couldn’t have made the trip any better! They are the best team and answered all of our silly questions even the ones about themselves. We loved getting to know them and will be back to see them in particularly!!! Thank you for this experience Kapama.
Kapama Private Game Reserve exceeded every expectation! Their service was exceptional and every detail was considered! The benefit of a private game reserve meant no crowds to deal with as you watched National Geographic events in front of your eyes. Worth the upgrade to experience this with limited interruptions. The staff was top tier and the food was incredible for every single meal. The accommodations were clean, updated, and so beautiful! Not a single detail missed! The location is literally across the road from the Hoedspruit airport and the drive in was its own game drive, as we immediately saw rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and so much more!
Catered for my lactose-intolerance to the point I was so full I couldn’t eat the delicious cakes and delicacies the kitchen made. The safaris are incredible with hot water bottles and blankets, half-time coffee for the morning safari and beverages and snacks on the afternoons. Our guide (Kenneth) was incredible making the small moments valuable like star-gazing and pointing out constellations to having coffee with a giraffe. Of course you’ll see the big 5 but those special moments were so meaningful and made the trip so special.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe objective feedback is important, especially for a property positioning itself as a five-star luxury safari lodge. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the food was perfectly satisfactory. Unfortunately, the aspect that matters most on safari – the people – was where Kapama Southern Camp fell significantly short. As a seasoned safari traveller who has visited several highly regarded lodges across Africa, I have learned that exceptional safaris are defined less by the animals and more by the warmth, professionalism and storytelling ability of the people who host you. Unfortunately, this was largely absent during our stay. From arrival, the atmosphere felt surprisingly impersonal. Apart from the main host who greeted us, several staff members appeared disengaged and offered little of the warmth or hospitality one would expect at a luxury property. While this may seem like a small detail, first impressions matter, and it unfortunately set the tone for the rest of our experience. Our greatest disappointment was our safari guide. Throughout our drives, he spoke very little unless asked direct questions, offered limited educational commentary and, on one occasion, provided incorrect information about elephant weight while insisting he was correct until corrected by his tracker. More concerning than factual errors was the overall lack of engagement and professionalism. There were several moments where we felt uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Requests were met with visible impatience, interactions felt transactional, and there were occasions where we became aware that our guide was making negative comments about us with other staff members in a manner that made us feel like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. This was particularly disappointing because we were a polite, enthusiastic family simply trying to make the most of our experience. At no point were we demanding or unreasonable; in fact, we often filled long periods of silence ourselves by sharing information and conversation amongst our own group. One example that stood out was a request we made to prioritise a beautiful sunset viewing on our final evening. Rather than curating a memorable experience, we were told that the sunset would not be visible due to cloud cover, even though I have photos showing that the sky was clear enough to see the orange streaks of sunset, and we were left feeling as though the moment was being treated as an obligation rather than an opportunity to create something special. Perhaps most disappointing was the response when we raised our concerns. While there was some acknowledgement and apology that the guest-guide relationship had broken down, the explanation offered was that we mostly that we lacked "chemistry", and the guide’s perception that my own enthusiasm made it difficult for him to lead the group, which was erroneous given I only started speaking up to fill long silences on our tours. I found this disappointing because professionalism in hospitality should not depend on personal chemistry. Guests should not have to earn warmth, engagement or basic hospitality. The experience concluded with one of the least memorable departures we have had on safari, with only the tracker/porter coming to say goodbye. Kapama Southern Camp has many ingredients of a luxury safari lodge. However, luxury is not defined by rooms, amenities or price point alone. It is defined by service culture, and service culture must be consistent at every level. There is a significant difference between providing accommodation in the bush and creating a truly exceptional safari experience. Unfortunately, this stay delivered the former, but not the latter.
There are not enough good words to express how much I enjoyed the visit to the Kapama Safari Camp. The entire experience was the high point to a visit to Southern Africa. The people, service, and facilities were all top notch. It was an outstanding experience. We located the "Big Five" animals and many more species. The Ranger and Tracker went out of their way to find all the animals they could show us.
Здесь было великолепно все от аутентичного проживания в собственных домиках до сафари и прекрасного питания. Увидели всех , кроме леопарда, но охотились за ним как могли. Спасибо большое нашим рендерам

Kampana South Camp exceeded every expectation and delivered an unforgettable safari experience. The camp blends luxury, comfort, and authentic wilderness perfectly. The Villas are beautifully appointed, offering stunning views and every modern convenience while maintaining a close connection to nature. The staff were exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest feels welcome. The game drives were outstanding, with knowledgeable guides providing incredible wildlife encounters and fascinating insights into the ecosystem. The food was superb, with every meal thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Kampana South Camp is a true gem and a destination I would highly recommend to any safari enthusiast.
Kapama was a great experience, the staff is always making things for you to feel great. The food is wonderful and the safaris were incredible. We got to see all the animals and the expertise of the guides was great.
Would highly recommend Kapama for anyone that wants to have an amazing safari experience. The staff was amazing, food was delicious and the safari rides were outstanding.
Already missing the place and the staff! Trip of a lifetime! Each day brought a new experience. Nothing disappointing about the entire stay. It’s a beautiful place and the staff made each day extraordinary!
Struttura Organizzata molto bene con i Safari, Ottimi ranger, complimenti a mrs D e Elek per la loro simpatia, professionalità guidandoci alla ricerca dei fantastici big 5
My husband and I had an unforgettable experience at Kapama. We went on 3 days worth of safari drives and had the most amazing time. Our tracker (Forgive) and guide (Kenneth) are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The people we met made the experience that much more special. We are looking forward to a return trip in the future.
We enjoyed the amazing hospitality and luxury that Southern camp affords one, mixed with a feeling of feeling at home. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and our villa was just beautiful and a special experience. We looked forward to the culinary experience of each meal time and were not disappointed. What a blessing this was. Thank you Kapama.
What a place, the service the food and the game drives. This is a special place. Every moment a experience. The staff is professional and friendly. We truly enjoy our stay.
The whole place was amazing. Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Food & rooms were outstanding.
Nothing!
We stayed for days in Southern Camp of Kapama Lodge. It was really magic. During the Game Drives we saw the Big Five and many other animals. The staff is competent, very good trained and heartwarming friendly. We can absolutely recommend a trip to Kapama Lodge.
This exceeded all expectations. From the moment we landed at the small airport, taking the drive in the Jeep up to the accomodation and seeing an elephant having a bath and Giraffe's strolling by, the accomodation, the food, the staff, the pool and the very relaxed feeling. I cannot recommend this enough. Seeing 'The Big Five' and SO much more on every Safari. Our rangers Ulani & Syven were fantastic. This place is a MUST if you're considering a Safari!
Location to the airport. Beautiful decor, eco friendly and outstanding staff. Wonderful to see the Rhinos with their horns. Safe to walk around the accommodation. Drinks included and great selection of quality wines. Delicious choice of food.
Lack of off road game viewing even though we got to view the Big 5.
Everything was perfect— the people, the villas, the food. The safari experience on the reserve was unbelievable and unimaginable before you arrive. It was a spiritual experience like no other. The guides and trackers use their knowledge to create a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to envelop yourself in the natural world. I can’t imagine going on safari somewhere else after staying at Kapama.
My safari trip to Kapama Private Game Reserve in Mpumalanga South Africa was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived you get treated as a super valued guest, the Kapama Southern team made us feel genuinely welcomed small details like a cold wet cloth because of the high temperatures to cool down. The staff were warm, attentive, always going the extra mile to ensure every moment of the stay felt special. The lodge itself was STUNNING, combining modern comfort with a safari atmosphere. Beautiful luxury rooms, peaceful views, and thoughtful touches created a sense of calm and connection to nature. The game drives were the undeniable highlight. Our ranger and tracker were outstanding — skilled, passionate, and eager to share their knowledge. Their ability to find wildlife left us in awe. We were fortunate to witness unforgettable sightings: lions, rhinos, hippos , elephants and giraffes wandering peacefully across the reserve, and even the elusive leopard. Between drives, the food was superb. Whether enjoying breakfast after an early morning adventure or having a sundowner on a game drive in the bush it was spectacular
Hanli, Lyzette "Kapama Southern Camp - where words fail to express how EXCELLENT it is! The staff is something else 🤩 #Kapama #BestExperience #TravelSA"
We spent two days there as a group of business colleagues. There were six of us. Every part of the experience was terrific, including the safaris, the bush walk, the food, the accommodations, and the hospitality. The service was outstanding across the board. They also made accommodations for two of us with special dietary requirements, including kosher, which we really appreciated. Lanie was our driver and host. He was a lot of fun and genuinely a great person. The rest of the staff was excellent as well. Always friendly and seeking to make sure we had a great experience I highly recommend this place. I rarely write reviews, and usually only when expectations are exceeded.
Had the most amazing 4 days at southern camp Kapama. The safari drives were breathtaking and learnt so much about all different animals & nature. Our guide & tracker (Eleck & Laybu) made our experience, thank you both! As well as Nate & Tandi who took such good care of us. Get 2 drives a day which is perfect and we did bush walks on top which we loved. Food incredible and so accommodating that I don’t eat meat. Always options for me & ensured meat separate which appreciated. Due to recent floods lots of roads closed but still saw big 5 & so many more animals. Loved being in truck following tracks and searching for animals. Our stay was 10/10 and highly recommend.
Beautiful decor and real rustic feel
Safaris, mit Di und Adolf Unkomplizierte Anreise Abwechslungsreiche Mahlzeiten , besonders am Abend mit toller Location Freundlichkeit des Personals Tolles Zimmer mit eigenem Pool Spa in der Nachbar Lodge ist ein toller Ort zum Entspannen
- Great location coming from the airport; - The safari guides were absolutely excellent (great knowledge literally about all animals in the park, also took time to explain when we had questions; knowledge far beyond just the big 5) - the safari guides took time to look for animals we were interested to see (they knew exactly how to track them to increase the probably); overall we saw such a variety of animals (way beyond the big 5) - Great service and staff at the property - Great quality of food and a lot of choice
- The rooms need more maintenance and perhaps upgrading (there was a small leak in the roof during torrential rain)
We chose South Africa for our honeymoon, and Kapama Southern Camp turned it into an unforgettable experience. The biggest highlight was the amazing staff, who made us feel truly cared for with outstanding service, excellent food, and wonderful drinks. Seeing all of the Big Five was the perfect bonus to an already magical stay.
We spent one night at Southern Camp during our honeymoon — far too short, as we immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and the warm hospitality. The team surprised us with a beautiful honeymoon setup during dinner, which made the evening incredibly special. We were genuinely touched. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the gluten-free options on both days were outstanding — especially the muffins at afternoon tea and the bread at dinner and breakfast. Truly the best gluten-free experience I’ve ever had anywhere. Service throughout the lodge was exceptional, and the staff were simply wonderful. Our room was extremely spacious, beautifully designed, and came with a private pool and a large bathtub. Overall, it’s a beautiful property, though it has more of a hotel feel rather than a classic lodge atmosphere — which can be perfect depending on what you’re looking for. Regarding the game drives, the reserve is beautiful and our driver–spotter team was very friendly, but the drives were unfortunately not as successful as the ones we had at Buffalo Camp. We mostly stayed on the main roads, and it felt like there was less focus on tracking or actively searching for animals. We also didn’t have a sunset stop on the evening drive, which we missed, as these moments are usually one of the highlights of a safari. Apart from the common sightings — zebras, impalas and giraffes — we didn’t see much wildlife, which was disappointing since the drives are such an essential part of the experience. Overall, we still enjoyed the drives, and the hot water bottles and blankets were wonderful given the cold weather. A few small suggestions: • With the unusually cold temperatures during our stay, it would have been great if the room had been pre-warmed (even just via air-conditioning). I understand that energy saving might be a topic, but considering the cost of the stay, it would be a great improvement — especially since such a large room takes quite some time to heat up when it’s only 15°C outside. • Since our previous days at Buffalo Camp had been rainy and also offered limited sightings, we asked if we could join an additional afternoon drive. Unfortunately, the price offered (2,000+ ZAR per person) was extremely high, so we had to decline. Given the overall cost of the stay, a more accommodating solution would have meant a lot. Despite these points, the wonderful staff, the fantastic food, and the beautiful room made our stay truly enjoyable. We would love to return f
Хорошее местоположение, прекрасный и очень отзывчивый персонал, уютные и чистые номера, очень вкусная еда, ощущение природы не выходя из номера, ресторану поставлю 15 из 10 баллов!!! Стабильный Wi-Fi
We have travelled to many countries in the world and stayed at many luxurious lodgings but Kapama Southern Camp far exceeds those ! Outstanding customer service and accommodation. We saw the Big 5 by our second safari and our guide and tracker - Carlos and Petrus were so kind, knowledgeable, professional and fun - whilst every thing was perfect at Kapama, these guys took it to the next level
This experience far exceeded my expectations. I felt as if we were producing a nature documentary on our safaris. Staff, meals, and spa were excellent as well.
This is my second time experiencing Kapama, 1st time I took my overseas guests to River Lodge. The positive of Southern Camp is it's a much smaller camp, so doesn't feel as hotel like - most of the meals were incredible. However, every second night they force guests to have a boma dinner where you have to sit with everyone in your vehicle - the game vehicle allocation is based on guests arriving & leaving the same time and not people of similar ages or background. The dinner is a buffet style braai and does not reach 5-star dining experiences - At the 4-star lodges I have stayed, the buffet is 5 times better. This experience ruined it for me, and I would say anyone travelling, you will have far better value for money if you stay at River Lodge. The standard rooms at River Lodge are also alot fancier. The staff were all incredible - other than the lodge manager who made a point to go around to every table and check their experience but ours, we were the only South African's staying at the lodge, so think she only cares about her international guests.
Hele vriendelijke mensen en heel veel mooie Safari/-momenten in alle rust! Heel sfeervol opgehaald van het vliegveld met een open Safari-auto!
Niets. Jammer om weer te vertrekken na drie hele mooie dagen.
The safari from southern camp, was adventurous with luxury all brought together with fantastic staff, a MUST visit …..
I liked every thing about the property very clean and relaxing
Nothing
The food, the service, the atmosphere the whole experience was everything we dreamed off and more
The price is a little steep. £1,700 per night is a lot of money then tips on top but it was a trip of a lifetime.
We loved everything about this property! We were upgraded to the Villa with the pool and felt so special. The property is amazing with wildlife moving within, beautiful meals and staff, every need catered for. The safaris were spectacular and we saw the big 5 in the first two safaris. Most importantly was the service provided by our Guide and Tracker - Carlos and Petrus - these guys were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and supportive. They made the whole experience outstanding.
Nothing
We had the best time ever on our bush rides! Lani and Rulani were outstanding guides! Extremely knowledgeable, fun and kind! We saw the Big 5 within in the first 2 rides and we saw baby animals of so many kinds! We had fun counting giraffes which we saw 87! It was so much fun to learn about the bush and the animals! We also we searching for the little animals which made it even more joyful. It was an incredible resort. We also did a spa day and that was also amazing!
Muito confortável, atendimento excelente!
Our stay at Kapama Southern Camp was truly one of the most special and unforgettable experiences of our lives. My boyfriend had secretly let the team know that he was planning to propose, and from the moment we arrived, the entire staff went above and beyond to make everything absolutely magical. Every detail was so personal, thoughtful, and full of heart. We were treated to the most romantic private dining experiences — one dinner by a fire with music, another overlooking the animals as the sun set, and even a private lunch in our villa. Each moment felt like something out of a dream, carefully curated and full of warmth. The highlight of our stay was the lamp-lit proposal, surrounded by the sounds of the bush and the soft glow of lanterns. It was pure perfection — beautifully set up, the food was exceptional, and to top it off, the team came out to sing for us. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that we’ll treasure forever. Our game drives were equally amazing. Lanie (our guide) and Rulani (our tracker) were incredible — full of energy, charm, and knowledge. They worked so hard to help us see the animals we were hoping for and shared such fascinating stories and insights about the wildlife. Their passion for what they do truly shines through and made every drive so much fun. Prishant, who looked after us at every meal, was an absolute angel. She was so sweet, thoughtful, and creative, helping bring several of our beautiful private dinners to life. Every meal was stunning — the food was outstanding and clearly crafted by people who know and love what they do. The spa ladies were also wonderful — our couples massage was heavenly and one of the most relaxing experiences we’ve ever had. The camp itself is elegant, peaceful, and beautifully designed, but what really sets Kapama Southern Camp apart is the people. Every single member of the team is so kind-hearted, genuine, and dedicated to creating special memories for their guests. You can feel how much they truly care. We left feeling so full of love and gratitude. Kapama Southern Camp will forever hold a special place in our hearts — not just for the breathtaking setting and incredible wildlife, but for the warmth, thoughtfulness, and magic that the team created for us. If you are torn between different lodges and looking for the review to tip you in favour of Kapama Southern Camp , consider this it!!!
The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were very nicely decorated. They provide bug spray in the rooms for around the doors, maybe they could do some minor maintenance around the seals of the doors to keep out the critters vs bug spray. Great experience and would recommend them to anybody who is looking for 5 star safari adventure.
The Kapama Private Game Reserve is outstanding in every way. The food was excellent, although there was far too much. The physical facilities are attractive and unique. The staff go out of their way to be useful, polite, friendly and accessible. The game drives were fantastic. We were so lucky to be with Richard, our ranger. The experience from beginning to end was amazing.
Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful at all times. Having one Ranger assigned to our group was great. The safaris were so awsome. And the blanket and hot water bottle made the early AM drive very enjoyable, a very nice touch! The Ranger found animals and was full of interesting information and was always willing to answer our questions. Food was very good and as much as you wanted. Drinks were included! Room was kept clean throughout our stay.
We had a great stay and were able to see all the big 5 at Kapama. Leopards are the hardest but we were very fortunate. The guide Richard was awesome and, extremely knowledgeable and the entire staff were great.
The experience I would not forget. I never thought of a hotel in the bush.I never thought that you can stand next to a lion or leopard inside a car
We had an outstanding stay at Kapama Southern Camp. We saw the big five easily, once all 5 on just one morning game drive. Our ranger, Richard, and tracker, D, were both excellent - super kind, funny, amazing guides who were exceptional at tracking animals and giving us amazing sightings. Our waitress, Thandi, provided incredible service the entire time and was the warmest face to see every day. She was entertaining too - funny and great at singing and dancing! The rooms are immaculate and we had everything we needed. The food was the highest quality with so much range and felt very balanced between fresh and indulgent. All of the staff at the lodge were amazing. I’d highly recommend to anyone thinking about doing a safari holiday.
Everything about our stay at Kapama Southern Camp was exceptional. From the outstanding, huge accommodation, to the plentiful and delicious food and drink. From the warm hospitality to the unbelievable twice per day safari experience with very knowledgeable and friendly guides who showed us the big five and much more, as we seemed to pack a whole life's worth of living cheek to jowl with African wildlife into just 3 days. A truly exceptional and unforgettable lifetime experience.
Our experience with Kapama Southern Tours was truly exceptional. After being unexpectedly let down by our original tour agency, Southern African Tours (operated by Craig and Bianca), the team at Kapama stepped in and went above and beyond to assist us. They not only helped us get back on track with our travel plans but also provided an incredible safari experience. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing the wildlife with us. Breaks were made even more enjoyable with thoughtful touches like drinks and snacks. Every staff member we encountered was kind, attentive, and supportive—something we deeply appreciated given the stressful situation we were coming from. We can’t thank the Kapama team enough for turning our trip around and delivering such a memorable experience.
Had an amazing time, saw the big 5 on the game drives, wonderful food, drink and service. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. As an example, my wife had some dietary requirements and each day specially prepared dishes were cooked for her. The camp is very well organised by management and a shoutout to those who looked after us: Carlos and Alpha our guides/tracker, Kati our waitress and Lonely who we kept busy at the all-inclusive bar…all were brilliant and always had a smile on their faces. Also a thank you to our fellow guests Mauricio and Connie who were great company and on their honeymoon.
Safari in a private game reserve with all the amenities of five star resorts. Excellent meals and big five animals… enjoy!
The rooms are spacious with a private balcony with great amenities - bottles of wine & mini bar were included in my tariff. There was a jar of home style cookies. I loved the library with tasteful decor. There is an outdoor pool * a lovely gift shop. All staff were helpful & personable. The restaurant had fabulous food with generous helpings - home style. Breakfast consisted of a selection of breads (muffins, grain bread, etc) plus choices for a hot dish with some innovative ones like deep fried boiled egg. Lunch & dinner were 3 course where you could expect to be served game such as ostrich to chicken & lychee tagine. Nd there was afternoon tea with sweet and savoury delights. There are 3 hour each of morning & afternoon safaris and were guide & tracker were terrific - we got to see many animals including the big 5. Before the morning safari there is a snack with beverage and breakfast follows the safari. There is a short break during the safaris where we have tea/coffee & cookies for breakfast & alcohol with snacks like chips. A couple of times a week, buffet dinner is served under stars. I loved seeing the animals in the safari repeatedly, such a thril! Very highly recommended camp!! Posting just a few photos, too many too add.
Luxury accommodations, Beautiful landscaping, Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable staff Able to see the Big 5 plus other animals Excellent game drives twice a day
The whole experience was out of this world. Just do it you won't regret it. The attention to detail was unreal, the staff were fantastic and only wanted to make you happy. If you want to eat 😋 24 hours a day then this is the place to go. Best experience so far in my lifetime.
Property is first class. Meals were great. Personalized service is top notch. Guides were knowledgeable and fun. Private safaris on a private property are the way to go. So much wild life and we saw the Big 5 on the first day!
When my wife and I walked into our room at the Kapama Southern Camp we both looked at each other and agreed that it was the nicest room we had ever stayed in. Everything, from the room, to the food, to the people, to the safaris, was exceptional. Every little detail was considered and executed to perfection, with love and care. We cannot rate the Kapama Southern Camp highly enough.
We saw all big fives in an exeptional environment with delicious food! Attent personal and top accomodation.
We stayed here for 3 nights at the Southern Camp we an 8 and 11 year old. It was a busy schedule but an amazing experience. Our guides were awesome and we saw the big 5 (two different leopards) plus giraffes, warthog, zebra, vultures, owl, wild dog, tons of impala, kudu, and other antelope. Food was all very good. It was tiring but a trip we'll never forget.
Excellent accommodation, friendly staff and the game drives were brilliant. Big 5, not a problem, the trackers can find them.
For our first safari experience, we were blown away at Kapama. Our guide Siven made this an amazing trip and we saw the "big five" not without great tracking and patience. It's an experience we will never forget.
Las instalaciones perfectas
El programa de actividades adicionales y masajes no era claro cuando se partía con que anticipación etc
Our safari guide, Lani, is a very bright, brave, and knowledgeable young man. He knows the habits and behavior of animals so well that, in our opinion, he is simply a walking encyclopedia. Lani, with his wonderful sense of humor, was able to ease our fear even in moments when it was a bit scary — for example, seeing predators right before our eyes — by joking and making us feel safe. We wish Lani to always remain the same positive, intelligent person with an excellent sense of humor. There should be more people like him working with tourists. Tourists from Belarus.
An amazing experience. If you want to be pampered, this is the place. Our early morning and late afternoon drives were amazing! Our driver and tracker could find (almost) whatever animal you would like to see, and then some! We even saw a pangolin! A rare sighting. Each experience is unique, but it seems that they know how to deliver a delightful stay.
Impressive lodge in Great Kruger Area. Very professional and super nice team. Could see the big five a lots of other species. Absolutely recommend forma safari exoerience
We booked 4 game drives. I went to only 3. It felt like waste of time since we could see impalas, bucks or deers mostly. We did see Giraffe couple of times. However, other animals of Big 5 were scarce (leopard, lion or elephant or rhino). Gym is located in one location and you have to "book" it. With safari, fixed time for meals it become difficult. Water leaks in my cousin's villa and leaking faucet in bath tub for my room. Otherwise, villas are nice. Couple's massage with stem room was awesome too. Do not appreciate expectation of tipping when bartender does not know how to make cocktails, cheap wine or whisky is free but you have to pay for Green label for example, it does not add to experience. Waiter did not seek to have positive energy. I would not go back primarily because game drive was not what I expected. Oh, one more thing, I did not get a receipt or print out of what I paid for.
Our group of five absolutely loved our experience at Kapama. The property and rooms are very nice, the service is excellent, and the game drives gave us the safari experience we were hoping for. It is well worth the cost in our opinion! I would highly recommend 3 days here. Game Drives: We were given the same guide and tracker (shout out Adolf and Lebo!) for all 3 days (6 total drives), which allowed for relationship-building, great communication, and non-repetitive sightings. No one can be guaranteed to see everything they want to, but they certainly try their hardest, and we did get to see the big 5 and more during our three days. If you are concerned about this reserve being fenced (like I was during the booking process), I don't think you need to be. The property is so gigantic that the animals still roam freely and it feels completely natural. Kruger as a whole is fenced, of course, so this is just a smaller version of that. Lastly, they only allow two vehicles to be viewing a sighting at one time, which preserves the experience of seeing the animals in their natural habitat rather than feeling like you're at a zoo. We went to Chobe in Botswana after this and were SO disappointed that 10+ vehicles were surrounding the animals, which hugely hurt the experience. These guides are knowledgeable, skilled, and respectful of the animals. Food/Service: The food was very good, though I will say that it may not be suitable for particularly picky eaters at times. (I saw kids being given things like cheese pizza, hamburgers, etc., so I am talking more about adult picky eaters.) Just communicate in advance if you have someone who needs a simpler food offering, and I'm sure they will be willing to accommodate. I am a moderately picky eater, but usually found something I liked for each meal. The service is excellent and truly all-inclusive. Anytime we asked for an extra or modification, we were given it with kindness and joy. You will be offered food so often that you will be ready to fast after you leave! Highly recommend Kapama!!
We spent 3 amazing nights at Kapama, and we were overwhelmed by the experience, from our arrival where we were welcomes by friendly staff right through to when we departed. The accommodation, food and service were all 5-star experiences, and we recommend Kapama to anybody who wishes to experience true game viewing and special treatment by each and every staff member.
Super safari, food, warmth. Kids friendly. Lovely experience. Close to the airport. Housekeeping was top notch and so were the suites.
Driving out of the airport and over the road takes you into the entry of the Kapana Game Reserve. The experience starts right there with wildlife crossing the road right in front of you as you make your way to the lodge. Excellent accommodation options, first rate food experiences and space to have time by yourself. A must see experience.
Kapama was an experience and the people were amazing - beautiful. We had the best stay and the memories will be firmly embedded with us.
Beautiful lodge were we saw the big 5 with amazing guides and staff who all went out of their way . Amazing stay
It was a great time. We saw all of the big five animals during our stay. The staff were very accomodating, the food choices were infinite! We loved the lodges. It felt like being in a part of the wilderness.
Fantastic family experience. Staff on resort and safari couldn't have been more helpful and engaging. Wonderful food and room - we were upgraded to luxury suite which was an amazing room. Direct pick up from and return to school east gate airport which made transfers quick and smooth. Animal reserve was diverse and amazing experience. Couldn't recommended enough
