Pretty much everything, fabulous facilities, the people taking us out on safari drives were super knowledgeable and worked hard to find the perfect experience for everyone.

One minor complaint is that while selection was excellent, the food was often lukewarm.

Our stay at Kapama River Lodge (9–12 September) was the highlight of our South Africa trip. From the moment the guide met us at Hoedspruit airport with an open safari vehicle, everything ran smoothly: lunch was ready on arrival, and we were on our first game drive the same afternoon. What truly stood out was the generosity of the team. We had booked a Royal Suite and were surprised with a complimentary upgrade to [nome da suíte/villa] — something we hadn't asked for and will never forget. It turned a great trip into a special one for the two of us. Thank you. The game drives were exceptional. Our ranger and tracker were knowledgeable, patient and clearly passionate about the reserve — we saw [ex.: leopard, lions, elephants, rhino] up close, and the sundowner stops in the bush were a treat. Food was excellent at every meal, the rooms were immaculate, and the staff anticipated needs before we mentioned them. Even the logistics for our departure transfer to KMIA were coordinated by the lodge without a single hiccup. Highly recommended for couples or anyone who wants a first-class safari with a warm, personal touch. We'll be back.

Guests were well cared for by all the staff of the lodge. Safari game drives were amazing and we managed to see a lot of different animals, including the big 5, in various scenarios and circumstances. Special shout-out to Nico and Ringo for the game drives, and also to Give and Thabo for the bush walking experience. Thanks Charles for being the one serving us during meals, and big thanks to the housekeeping team too!

Nothing, I just wished I had more time to enjoy the facilities of the lodge as the two game drives per day were pretty tiring. But that being said, the game drives were also the whole point of the stay

São oferecidos dois safáris por dia, além da possibilidade de fazer o walking safari, o que torna a experiência ainda mais completa. Toda a equipe foi extremamente atenciosa, educada, gentil e solícita. Um detalhe que nos marcou muito foi o cuidado dos funcionários em nos chamar pelo nome e em fazer com que nos sentíssemos genuinamente acolhidos durante toda a estadia. Gostaríamos de fazer um agradecimento especial à Grace e ao Phillip, que nos acompanharam diariamente nos safáris. Eles foram simplesmente incríveis e fizeram de tudo para que tivéssemos a oportunidade de avistar os Big Five — e conseguimos! Além de toda a dedicação na busca pelos animais, tornaram cada passeio muito mais interessante ao compartilhar curiosidades, explicar os comportamentos dos animais e contextualizar tudo o que víamos ao longo do caminho. Sem dúvida, fizeram toda a diferença na nossa experiência. O hotel, além de proporcionar esse contato tão especial com a natureza e a vida selvagem, possui uma estrutura excepcional para relaxar, descansar e simplesmente aproveitar tudo o que oferece. A gastronomia também merece destaque: todas as refeições foram excelentes, com comida deliciosa e de altíssima qualidade. Foi, sem dúvida, um dos melhores hotéis em que já nos hospedamos. Não temos absolutamente nada do que reclamar — apenas elogios e ótimas lembranças. Foi uma experiência inesquecível e certamente gostaríamos de voltar.

Everything! The staff (Austin, Praise, Jordan and Ria) were so incredibly kind and did everything in their power to ensure we had the best trip. From remembering our names, to ensuring we always had a drink in hand, to a special African dance for my birthday and gifting my husband a bracelet. I highly suggest booking the Tamboti Suites, they’re so special and the height of luxury in the bush. I will be recommending this place to everyone who intends to travel to South Africa.

Acomodação bonita, com boa manutenção, ampla e muito confortável. Todo staff educado, prestativo e gentil. Refeições deliciosas com ótimo atendimento e atenção a detalhes. Os game drives foram incríveis, os guias explicavam detalhes dos animais e da natureza local, apesar de ser uma questão de sorte também, vimos muitos animais, inclusive o Big Five - fizeram questão de perguntar se havia algum que queríamos ver e se esforçaram para localiza-los.

A equipe é de extrema simpatia, desde o acolhimento na chegada no aeroporto até o check out tudo é bem exclusivo a gastronomia é um detalhe a prte pois o restaurante é de gastronomia absurdamente boa e com requinte e sabor. O safari é op ponto alto com toda estrutura desde café em plena savana até cobertores e bolsas quentes no frio os guias agradaveis e simpaticos .

O custo é bem alto a pesar de tudo que oferece . O Spa e sauna são cobrados a parte e tem uma piscina que também tem custo extra para uso

The safari experience exceeded every expectation. This is not just a game drive—it's a true African safari. The guides and trackers are incredibly skilled, making every outing exciting, educational, and memorable. We saw an amazing variety of wildlife and always felt we were in the hands of experts who love sharing their knowledge of the bush. The location is another major advantage. Despite being conveniently close to the airport, once you're at the lodge you feel completely immersed in nature and surrounded by the beauty of the African wilderness. The property itself has everything you could ask for: luxurious accommodations, outstanding facilities, a wonderful spa, excellent dining, and beautifully maintained grounds. We booked three rooms for our family. My wife and I stayed in the Royal Suite, which was absolutely spectacular, and our children's rooms were almost as luxurious and equally comfortable. What impressed us most was how effortlessly the lodge combines luxury with an authentic safari experience. Every member of the team works together to create something truly special, and it shows in every aspect of the stay. If you're looking for a world-class safari with incredible wildlife, exceptional service, luxurious accommodations, and memories that will last a lifetime, this is the place. We have stayed at many luxury properties around the world, and this one stands among the very best.

Meu voo foi às 15:20 porém o checkin às 11:00 para situações como essa valeria pensar em algum lanche ou disponibilizar o almoço dado que a o aeroporto não tem estrutura alguma pra uma refeição. Fiquei 2 horas no hotel pra esperar o horário combinado do Transfer e saímos sem almoço. De resto o atendimento foi excepcional

Ambiente de muito bom gosto. Quartos muito confortáveis e restaurante excepcional. Equipe muito simpática e solicita. Nosso Ranger Thyani e nosso rastreador Michel conhecem muito a fauna e flora locais. No restaurante a simpatia da Sibon torna a refeição ainda mais perfeita. Voltarei sem dúvidas.

Did my first safari at kapama. Grounds were expansive, tamboti suite was huge! Lovely bathtub too. Amazing spa and massage too. Huge shout out to our driver nico and tracker ringo as we saw all the big 5 twice along with their cubs plus wild dogs and a whole lot more. Although kapama reserve is fenced, as first time safari goers it would not make a difference. Kapama had set an extremely high standard for our future safaris.

We stayed at Kapama River Lodge for 3 nights for our honeymoon. Nothing to say but perfect! The facilities in the lodge are very clean, beautiful and comfortable. Our suite was in Marula side, and it was very big, with a nice view over the bushes and very very clean, it helped us a lot to relax between one game and another! Food is one of the best ever tried in a 5 star accomodation around the world. Special mention for Rachel and Fanie, our rangers during our stay: they made the best to let us spot not only the Big 5, but every possible creature in the reserve, and they did it perfectly!

We stayed at Kapama River Lodge, in a Tamboti suite for 9 nights in May 2026 for our 30 year wedding anniversary. Our expectations were high as this is not a cheap place to stay. We were definitely not disappointed but amazed that it could be so good. Being met at Hoedspruit airport in an open safari vehicle and being able to see Buffalo and Giraffe on the short drive through the reserve to our lodge was unexpected. The River Lodge was immaculately clean in all areas, the staff very friendly and helpful, our suite spacious and peaceful, delicious food, a wonderful selection of wines and other drinks (all included). The best part was the morning and evening game drives. The vehicles are completely open making viewing and photography easy. Despite being so open we always felt safe. Our guides were ‘magicians’ in the way that they could find animals, including a very rare Pangolin and Lion cubs not previously seen by anyone. We especially liked their extensive knowledge, respect for the animals and the environment. In short, if you want to go on safari in Africa go to Kapama but stay a week to fully enjoy the experience. These are just a few of the pictures we took.

Amazing place to stay. Safari’s were well organised, and we got to see the Big 5 close up and more. Staff were amazing, we received a bonus upgrade even though we were prepared to pay! Food and drinks all inclusive, even in our room bar. We highly recommend a stay here!

Our ranger wasn’t there to collect us at the airport so it wasn’t very welcoming . First game drive a child was talking for the entire 3hrs luckily I said something and we were moved , massages were very average .

Everything! The staff were amazing and made our stay incredible. A huge thanks to our amazing driver Hlulane and tracker Belief who ensured we maximised all our sightings across our 3 day trip and were so knowledgeable and informative. The hotel and food were both amazing (the boma night was a particular highlight!). Our room was beautiful and we were lucky enough to encounter elephants and giraffes passing by. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a true safari experience. Attention to detail made everything seamless and we would love to return one day.

Our guide Huelani (Mr H) and tracker (Believe) were phenomal! Our experience with them was magical because of them going the extra mile to find the big 5 and then some! Cannot recommend this lodge enough. The rooms are spacious and well crafted, shower and tub feel absolutely luxurious. Staff went above and beyond when my husband arrived with tummy trouble from our travels to Cape Town prior. Excellent food and service. Pools, spa, gym are all worth getting use out of!

Be prepared for little bugs in the room, you’re in nature.

Absolutamente tudo no Kapama é maravilhoso e impecável. A localização é excelente, em frente ao aeroporto e no caminho já tivemos a experiência de ver elefante e impalas. As refeições são fartas e todas deliciosas, não houve uma só refeição que não fosse deliciosa. Tudo, desde o café da manha até a janta, parece ser feito por um restaurante 5 estrelas. Tivemos dois safaris por dia e vimos todos os big fives mais de uma vez. Os funcionários são todos muito educados e dedicados, com destaque para nossos guias de Safari Neil e Las Vegas, maravilhosos! From the very first game drive, Collins and Tomas proved themselves to be the true masters of Kapama — passionate, knowledgeable, and endlessly dedicated to giving us unforgettable sightings. You ask for the Big Five? They deliver the Big Five… plus Pumbaa and his whole troop, and then some! Every drive felt magical, full of surprises and wonder. Back at the lodge, the excellence continued. At the restaurant, Sipho’s warm, effortless hospitality turned every meal into a joyful experience. And at reception, when my wife needed medicine, the team responded with genuine care and efficiency that went far beyond expectations. Service, wildlife, atmosphere — everything was simply flawless. An extraordinary stay from beginning to end. Absolutely dazzling!
