Location was good.

Housekeeping was very poor. Room not serviced and no replacement of toilet rolls, bins left unemptied, towels not renewed. Bed not made. You would expect excellent housekeeping & cleaning for a four star hotel. I would not rate this hotel as 4 star!! Costly and not good quality. Carpets were dirty and general facilities were grubby.

Location very convenient, central to nearby walks, train station and shops. Very comfortable bed and spacious room.

Shower lower pressure. And I had to open the shower door to pick the soap dispenser up. I am average height/build. Anyone tall or big will have no chance. To be fair, it is a historic building, so they are limited.

Breakfasts had a great choice in terms of hot and cold options and the food at both breakfast and dinner was superb. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything was just what we wanted for a weekend away with friends.

Everything was excellent for our stay. We had two rooms reserved and were both very comfortable, except my son's room (room 6) was very hot, even though the windows was open.

We liked the rooms and the meals. The only negative was the one room was very hot and this made it hard to sleep.

The bedroom was clearly recently redecorated, with a fresh, simple decor, a large comfy bed and nice chair and sofa to sit in as well. Breakfast was included in the price and was good quality and generous. The location was great for the station and exploring Settle.

The room and restaurant were both excellent and truly deserving of 4 stars. The locally made fudge was a nice touch, and gave a really personal feel to our stay.

We stayed over a weekend. This is a very popular and busy restaurant bar, and seemed to be very popular with the locals. Our room was above the open courtyard which was quite noisy, until 10 o'clock (closing time). However, we did find that ear plugs were supplied, along with a sleeping mask.

Das Personal ist freundlich und das Zimmer ist schön eingerichtet und angenehm groß. Auch das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren gut. Besonders praktisch ist die zentrale Lage – zentraler in Seattle geht es kaum.

Leider war die Luft im Zimmer wirklich schlecht. Das Fenster ließ sich nur einen Spalt öffnen und da unser Zimmer zum Innenhof lag, gab es kaum Luftzirkulation. Nachdem wir uns darüber beschwert hatten, wurde uns zwar ein Ventilator gebracht, dieser hat das Problem allerdings nicht wirklich gelöst. Ich bin tatsächlich sehr ungern ins Zimmer zurückgekommen, da es dort durchgehend stickig und unangenehm war. Gerade bei diesem Preis würde ich erwarten, dass es hierfür eine bessere Lösung gibt und man ein Zimmer hat, in dem man sich gerne aufhält und in dem die Luft angenehm und frisch ist. Auch beim Frühstück gab es leider eine Situation, die uns irritiert hat. Das Frühstück wird von 8 bis 10 Uhr angeboten. Bei zwei unserer vier Frühstücke wurde allerdings bereits gegen 9:40 Uhr angefangen abzuräumen, obwohl wir erst etwa zehn Minuten zuvor gekommen waren. Dabei wurden wir auch nicht gefragt, ob wir vom Buffet noch etwas möchten. Das hat das Frühstück für uns unnötig stressig gemacht. Wenn das Frühstück offiziell bis 10 Uhr angeboten wird, würde ich erwarten, dass das Buffet auch bis dahin vollständig zur Verfügung steht. Andernfalls sollten die Frühstückszeiten entsprechend angepasst werden.

The room was well decorated and presented and the bathroom is well equipped. Breakfast was good.

It was very warm when we stayed and the room had no mini bar / fridge and it was not possible to open the window fully. There was a small fan provided but it made little difference.

The Golden Lion was absolutely lovely, it’s located in the centre of Settle and the room was gorgeous. The bed was super comfortable and the decor was great. We had a delicious dinner before heading out to see a band at the Victoria Hall. Breakfast was great too.

We treated ourselves to the four poster bedroom which we stayed in the night before our daughter’s wedding. It wasn’t cheap but was a really beautiful large room with lovely decor. Staff were great! We had a family meal there for 26 of us, pre ordered food and it all came out on time and was delicious. My husband dropped his wedding tie in the forecourt after we checked out, which was picked up and driven to Falcon Manor for us! So kind, thanks for everything, we look forward to returning soon.

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The Bath House toiletries provided were lovely. The Golden Lion is well-placed in the centre of town so it is easy to get onto excellent walks. Lots of cafés and interesting shops nearby.

The older part of the hotel is probably fine but the newer part, behind the courtyard, is trickier. The room was small and unbearably hot in spite of keeping the blinds closed durung the day. The view was of rather dirty pipes and keeping windows open in the evening meant a lot of noise from the courtyard and kitchen extractor fans.

Fantastic central location in Settle, really friendly staff and brilliant breakfast and meals.

There isn’t parking at the hotel however there is car parking only a few minutes away and we were able to drop off and pick up our luggage as the hotel has a small drop off point at the front of the hotel under the arch way.

The Breakfast team was amazing, so kind! The breakfast was delicious with a lot of different options. The rooms are beautifully decorated.

It was a little bit hot in the room. The window is so tiny, it was difficult to ventilate the room.

Beautiful, clean and comfortable rooms however we were too hot in the night with very little we could do about it. The room had a fan and all the windows open. We were also right above the kitchen, so the room was quite loud in late at night and in the morning with barrels being delivered, and bottles being taken out. A real shame, for us this was almost a 10/10 experience.

The food was good, well priced & well presented. The menu was not extensive but had enough choices for a short stay. Breakfast was very good. Nice contemporary decor but retaining traditional pub ambience.

The hotel was beautiful, really nicely appointed. It was clean and friendly. the room was very large and comfy. The atmosphere was friendly and lovely. The staff were really happy to help. The bed was comfy. The shampoo and soap etc that were provided were really good quality. There was a mini bar in the room with crisps, nuts, and drinks you could buy, and water available free of charge. The breakfast was very very tasty with good options for vegetarians.

The checking in experience! I paid in full over a week before but the hotel explained that it was still 'pending'. Very embarrassing as it was a surprise trip for my partner. Instead of a seamless check in I was having to show my bank details and find the day the money left my bank. I felt it was not up to me to chase booking.com but I did. It should have been dealt with by the hotel staff.

Located in central Settle, a wonderful hotel, comfortable with friendly staff. As for the food - it was outstanding. The main meal was perfect, Settle Pie, and the breakfasts were amazing. Fantastic selection on the hot meal and a table of cereals, yogurt, fruit, etc if preferred. Compliments to the chef. The room was beautiful. I can't wait to stay again.

My mum and I had a lovely stay at the Golden Lion in Settle in April. From the moment we arrived, we received a really friendly welcome. Our room was comfortable, modern, tastefully decorated and had a lovely view overlooking the High Street. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the station and right in the heart of this charming market town. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and were very impressed. The food was delicious, clearly home-cooked and full of flavour. Breakfast was included in our stay and was equally enjoyable, with fresh, tasty ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast, which included beetroot black pudding, something a little different and very tasty. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return. The combination of friendly service, comfortable rooms, excellent food and a fantastic central location makes the Golden Lion a great choice when visiting Settle.

The only slight downside was that I could hear the television in the room next door quite clearly, as it appeared to be mounted on the wall behind my bed. Fortunately, I found a simple solution: I put the same channel on my own TV and enjoyed a rather effective surround-sound experience!

First of all we got such a lovely welcome from the staff who were professional , friendly at happy at their work . Fresh milk to our room was a nice touch too. Room Was very clean with lovely hot water on demand and nice toiletries supplied. We had booked dinner which was simply delicious , cooked fresh and served with care. Having a nut allergy I felt this was duly note and real diligence was shown in the monitoring of this which was reassuring and discreetly handled; no fuss just quiet attention to detail! Very much appreciated. Food in restaurant was well organised and food was beautifully delivered to table . Tracey who looked after us should be commended for her naturally friendly service and attention to our needs. All staff were amazing ! Tracey served us breakfast next morning and we received the same lovely service with some good walking recommendations added in . We took advantage of Fizz Friday at the bar which was a lovely bottle of Prosecco for £20! The location was very central to the station and to all amenities. We had a bag which we cdnt carry around with us and it was thoughtfully stored safely for us until we had to leave . Such a bonus . We had a super relaxed stay and would highly recommend this hotel .

There was nothing we did not like . The rooms are not ultra modern but comfortable , clean and 100% functional . Sorry we were too busy enjoying our stay to take photos of hotel but have included some of the area . Beautiful

It was very hot that day and there were no fans our AC.. It was loud in room from generator outside or something, and not dark to sleep well. However they did provide earplugs and eyemasks.

The bedroom was fabulous, very stylish, very comfortable and tv at the correct height for your neck. I dined in the restaurant and that was also amazing as I had a 3 course meal and it was delicious and so well presented. The choice of beers in the bar, local too.
