Rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Diner next to the river was just next level. Very nice route to walk on property as well, beautiful spots for picnics available

The rooms were cold and the air conditioners did not work properly. The owner should consider putting electric blankets.

They reused things. Muffins, scones, croissants were frozen and reheated each day. The only things my kids could eat were stale. They do not cater to vegetarians.

We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and the staff were friendly, professional, and very accommodating. They even assisted us with our baby during breakfast when he became a little restless, which was greatly appreciated and made our experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, the food was delicious, and the overall service exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.

The property is absolutely beautiful, the room was clean and comfortable.

Its a great weekend getaway. Quiet, sway from the noise and chaos of city. Take your book, notebook or sketch book, ley yourself lost by the stream and enjoy as if there is no tomorrow.

Overall everything was good. I feel the rooms will look better if they put some nice rugs or mats.

Great place, peaceful, great restaurant with by the river. Booked a suite, which was spacious and river facing.

The suite could have some plates and cutlery, and dishwashing liquid.

Location Ambience Cleanliness

Breakfast was always served late even when the facility wasn’t busy. We waited for a very long time for our breakfast in all three occasions.

The river and the mountains. Every meal was beautiful as qe could enjoy the views and the river. We also took a mini hike and paused by the waterfall. That was also a very therapeutic experience. We'll definitely be coming back.

The outside seating area outside the rooms doesnt have shade so it gets very hot during the day.

A serene and beautiful lodge that allows yous to disconnect if you need to. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay super comfortable. The wifi connection also allowed me to catch up on work and meetings which was great and it was available throughout the property. I would highly recommend going and I definitely will be back!

Breakfast good, it was at the lapa however one needed to order and wait for eggs and coffee. They should be easily available in the buffet setting failing which there should be a serving person who takes the order as guests enter the breakfast room.

The bar and restaurant looked out on the Hennops river. Unfortunately the river was very smelly at times. Depending on the guest demographics, the music in the restaurant / bar was sometimes intrusively loud.

It was a peaceful getaway and exactly what I needed over the New Year’s period. The walking paths are beautiful, and the small waterfall was a highlight. I enjoyed breakfast and dinner by the river every day, and the staff were top-notch. I would definitely return.

There was nothing to complain about, though it seems there had been some flood damage. The reception area down by the river appears to be under renovation, but the property seems to be handling it well.

The welcoming and assistance received when you need assistance. The place is well taken care off and the stuff makes sure you are at all times happy with your stay. The food was exceptional and well prepared.

There's a lot of flys,especially during breakfast,making it uncomfortable to dine and enjoy your food.

The tranquility of the venue was wonderful, the garden and grounds were immaculately well maintained and clean and the staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. The spa and its staff are also fantastic, worth a visit.

The service at the restaurants (waiters, not the kitchen) are exceptionally slow, expect to wait a very long time to be served by the waiters. But once you do receive your drinks and food, it’s of a very high quality.

From the moment I checked in, the staff (Ayanda) was exceptionally welcoming & took my bags to the room for me. I was travelling alone & Shaun looked after me the whole time I was there. Nothing was too much of a problem for him & he was so friendly. The calamari that I had for dinner was absolutely delicious!

Unfortunately, breakfast was a disappointment.

Beautiful location, you don't even feel like you are in Johannesburg. The place even offers gowns and sleepers, which I feel is such a beautiful gesture.

I did not like the entrance to the venue. It is a bit hidden and difficult to see especially at night. I wish there were two speed humps to allow some time for those turning to enter or exiting the venue. Cars are speeding on that road so it can be difficult to exit or even enter to the gate. The breakfast needs some improvements.

Disappointment and frustration with the treatment I received during my recent stay at Thanda Manzi. Despite my expectations of a comfortable and welcoming experience, I was subjected to unacceptable behavior from the hotel staff at night yesterday at 21h40 when I was sleeping. On 06April 2025, I arrived at the hotel and was initially greeted politely. However, as my stay progressed, I encountered several issues with the staff's attitude and behavior. Specifically, I was treated rudely and unprofessionally, which made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. The situation escalated at 21h40 where I was essentially "chased out" of the hotel by the staff, who seemed more interested in rushing me out than in providing me with the service I had paid for. At 21h40 i was woken up with my wife and I was told I need to pay more a R1000 extra in order to sleep there. Something that should have been addressed at check-in or check-out. Despite that I booked via Expedia where I get preferential rates. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also unacceptable. So I ultimately was forced to leave the hotel same night. And hence means I only paid R2732.20 to spend few hours there. As a paying customer I’m still shocked and I expect a certain level of service and respect from the hotel staff. Unfortunately, my experience at Thanda Manzi fell far short of my expectations.
