Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was comfortable and clean, close to all the amenities as in a 5 minute walk, staff were all lovely. The spa was ideal! We used the restaurant and again could not fault it.
The only thing I can say was the walk back up the hill most evenings, however it did us both good to walk it. So nit really a complaint. However I am not sure it would appeal to anyone with disabilities.
Breakfast was good but basic. Lunch and dinner were very good, tasty and good value. The spa was the best thing about the hotel, although quite busy for the size of it.
The cleanliness was awful. Our room was filthy. We also found cocaine all over our bedroom sides.
Great breakfast and Great Staff (even the new one) Well equipped spa
Carpets could do with a clean (Use dry foam shampoo) Sorry I’ve been on the game for 38 years!!
spa, jacuzzi, pool
climbing up to 3rd floor was too much, 2nd day they hadn’t cleaned the room!
Bed was comfy and pool/spa was kept well maintained and it was very clean
Nothing
Beautiful place.
Issues with the shower. But staff were very accommodating and helpful.
The spa was perfect. The staff exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Room could be updated a bit but it was still cute
Great staff, food and spa.
Steep hill to walk up from town.
Beautiful decor, really friendly staff and exceptional breakfast
Nothimg
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are gorgeous and the whole place has such a relaxing feel to it. The spa was definitely a highlight and the perfect way to switch off and unwind. There was so many small details to everything from the breakfast, the staff, the spa facilities that made it exceptional. We’ll absolutely be back and would highly recommend Lincombe Hall to anyone looking for a relaxing little getaway.
The staff were great, very helpful. They would do anything for you.
The grounds
Manageress rude and obnoxious Room should have been cleaner NO options of pillows only feather ( allergy ) I took the pillow cases off & was stunned at the filthy condition of the 4 pillows I was expected to lay my head on ! When I questioned the manageress regarding the condition of them, She replied "because they're stained does not mean they are dirty "!! I was appalled at her response obviously her expectations of cleanliness & high standards in a 4 star hotel are very limited ! What else in this establishment that is on offer to purchase is UNACCEPTABLE to the customer but ACCEPTABLE to her ? 🤔 On arrival I had to pay additional amount of £10.00 for a lower floor as it was impossible for me to climb 4 flights of steep stairs (waiting for surgery) NO LIFTS !!! so be aware of this, when booking ! Menu limited, mostly fish I was charged £7.00 for a shot of vodka and £3.00 for a splash of coke. £10.00 for a drink. A choice of good quality coke in cans or bottles should be available to purchase, rather than the watered down syrup of coke on offer. I've never stayed in a 4 star hotel that supplies cheap watered syrup coke ! If you are going to book this hotel booking.com is much cheaper but you are charged additional 15.00 for parking PN ( another additional cost ) I have stayed in this hotel before but always given a room on the ground floor, so I was not aware there were no lifts. The previous menu has offered a variety of dishes. However things have certainly changed due to cutbacks and poor quality of service all round !
The spa facilities are fantastic and so is the outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Hotel is clean and tidy and got a very warm cosy feel to it . Lovely decorated .
Drinks very expensive! £14 for just a pint of larger and non alcoholic gin and tonic . Plus £15 a night for parking in the hotel you’re staying in and paid for is an absolute joke !
Lovely feel nicely decorated and the spa was great. Loved the sitting room and bar area and the outdoor terrace
Nothing
The parking was expensive this could put people of
£15 for one nights parking because we booked on booking. Com
Mooie ligging, mooi statig gebouw
We hadden een super kleine kamers, te klein naar de standaard van het hotel. Er hangt een 'snobby' sfeer. Koel afstandelijke lobby. Geen fijn gevoel.
Rooms clean and tidy with A/c Spa was lovely
Nothing
Lovely stay
It was all good
The spa was good, great location
The room we stayed in was in the attic, the shower only worked intermittently and the shower leaked, cleanliness was questionable, some staff came across grumpy.
Lovely and clean hotel with a luxurious feel .Very special with use of spa facilities.
Beds comfy, spa good
Spa shut monday morning
Where to start! A calm oasis, perfect for relaxing but also as a base for walking and visiting all the local beaches. The spa is amazing (and free for hotel guests). The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff super friendly and really make an effort to make your stay perfect
A minor point but I would have liked more storage in the room, eg a set of drawers.
Staff were fantastic the new lady Sharan in the resteraunt was brilliant. All staff were great.
Walking up the hill.
Fabulous variety on breakfast menu together with good buffet choice of food and drink . All delicious.Location perfect for Torquay town.
Cost of cocktails were too pricey
The staff were friendly and the facilities were great.Great massage therapist too.Spa was lovely.Hotel clean and well run. The breakfast was super but, I thought I had booked this and it turns out I had to pay both for parking at £15 and breakfast at £35. So not impressed with booking.com.
As above: We had to pay extra for parking at £15 & breakfast at £35 when I thought this was included.
Lovely hotel great location and comfy
Lots of ants running around the floor in the spa
Beautiful place, we enjoy the spa and the outside pool is amazing. Rooms are very cleans we stay in the refurbished room and we really appreciate the air con.
That the spa get very crowdy on weekends
Staff were great, food was great
Walking up the hill😞
Room was not serviced. Nowhere in bathroom to put stuff, need some shelves. Night porter didn’t seem to want to be there! Shouldn’t have to pay to park.
Friendly staff
Up a hill
The spa at Lincombe was outstanding. Beautiful facilities, well equipped changing rooms with good quality hair dryers, hair straighteners and toiletries.
In comparison to the spa facilities, the hotel is a bit disappointing. We paid almost £400 for 2 nights. This included breakfast and use of the spa. The bedrooms are very basic and quite dated. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff in the restaurant are brilliant. We stay in Torquay once a year, we usually stay at another hotel close by which is lovely, but we wanted to try somewhere new this year. In the other hotel, when we check out they will invite us to use the facilities for as long as we like for that day. At Lincombe Hall the receptionist was rather abrupt when we checked out and was very quick to tell us we were not allowed access to the pool after checkout. I understand that every hotel has their own policies for spa use, but for almost £400 for 2 nights, I would at least expect to be able to use the facilities before we left.
The old and the new .
Paying for the car park
Spa
Rooms a little worn
Excellent
Yes definitely
Beautiful, clean hotel, fabulous spa and outside facilities. Staff are exceptional and food is amazing. Our favourite place in Torbay to stay.
The Spa facilities were possibly the nicest we have ever been to. The breakfast was also very good bar the pastries which were stale.
One of the bathrobes was stained and dirty, we asked for it to be replaced only to be given another equally dirty robe. We pulled back the duvet and there was what looked like blood stains on the duvet cover and a metal staple attached to one of the pillowcases which meant we had to vacate the room so that they could change the bedding. At each of these three issues were met with apathy, which made it feel like it happened alot! We chose a refurbished room because one of my pet hates is a dirty bathroom and low and behold the shower grout was absolutely disgusting as was the silicone sealant. There was nowhere to put your toiletries in the shower and the shower toiletries provided were in a position which meant that as a short person I had to stand directly under the water to reach the toiletries which when washing long hair is extremely annoying especially when also trying to hold a sponge because there was nowhere to put it apart from the floor. There were cobwebs on the headboard going to the bedside lights. There was no luggage rack to put suitcases on. There was nowhere to dry the towels which meant we couldn't use them the following day. The mattress was horrendously hard, both my husband and I woke several times and were both achy the flowwing day due to how hard the bed was. TV screen was really dirty.
The hidden menus on booking.com that meant as i didn’t book direct there was a £15 per night parking fee, so victimised for not booking direct with the and not made clear by booking.com, no bueno
I loved how clean it is. I loved the secluded area it is situated on. I loved that that it wasn’t extremely busy either.
Great facilities, friendly staff and good food
Some of the rules of the house felt a bit 'penny-pinching'
Breakfast was good and served hot and fresh
When booked, we mentioned that my wife was disabled, so we were disappointed that the room was ok and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was quite outdated with a tiny toilet squeezed between a bath and a wall. A bath/shower is not very suitable for older (I am 71) and my disabled wife, due to having to stand in a bath to have a shower. When using a booking company, the Hotel charges 15.00 a night for parking, it comes over as a poor 'extra'. Put it in the room charge to avoid bad feelings.
Clean
The staff, location & overpriced food
Very clean.lovely Staff. Excellent location
Not really any negatives
Great spa facilities, comfy room , building and decor was spectacular and modern
Bar staff (males) horrible attitudes kinda rude. Needs polishing
Our upgraded room. No children or weddings. No smoking on the terrace. Wonderful spa and outdoor pool.
Some rooms are very small so you need a larger room.
How clean it is was and the spa was lovely
Air con not working and really I wasn’t offered an acceptable solution so carried on with it working mildly
Great hotel quiet great location hill never bothered us walked up most nights. Bench half way up for a rest. Lovely staff, gave us everything we needed.
Nothing we can think of great hotel.
Bed was comfortable- that was the saving grace. Spa was lovely and had a very good massage.
The bathroom grouting was dirty - especially round the sink plug hole. Our room was very small and not one of the reconditioned ones and it showed. Water bottle was filled from the tap and bathroom wasn’t cleaned daily. Toilet rolls not replaced- felt like everything was being run on a shoestring. We gave up on breakfast as the coffee was not fresh, quality of sausages not great - lots of gristle and the ladies on the next door table sent their salmon back as it had salt crystals in and they couldn’t eat it. Wrong breakfast was delivered to one of the party, taken away but the correct order not then put thro so waited 15 mins assuming it was on its way. We went to the cafe on the beach the next day even tho breakfast was included.
The spa is simply lush 😊 I have visited this hotel a number of times and I have loved it every time.
Nothing to report
Staff are really accommodating and friendly. I liked that they had a single room for a solo traveller and it had everything I required. However, if you admire bedroom views it is not ideal as it was facing outdoor stairs. I'm an easy guy so as long as it was clean and service was on point Torquay alone provides those views. The facilities were great, spa was clean and inviting as well as staff.
Id have to be very picky here but the Gym lacked seated assisted machines but you could still be creative with know how. This is picky lol
Outside pool area is beautiful. Inside spa is lovely, great for a swim. Steam room beautiful. Salt room unusual addition, not seen one before..interesting..supposed to help with inflammatory conditions. Everything very clean. Breakfast fantastic. You can order food and drink to where you are sitting. Order cocktails to your table! Adults only makes it very peaceful! Water available from cold tap on the bar so you can keep filling up water bottles. It was very hot when we were there. Air conditioning in rooms..quite unusual in UK. Lots of loungers available both inside and inside the spa.
Towel got a bit soggy..unable to easily change towel for a fresh one but better for the environment no doubt. Not enough sun loungers for all guests if really hot outside..should be more as it is a spa not just a hotel.
This is our sixth time here now. We absolutely love the spa. The rooms are always very clean, well equipped, and comfortable. We also got to experience the outdoor jacuzzi this time, which was really nice and clean.
We were disappointed with the wait time on breakfast. This is the second time we've been disappointed with our breakfast. We waited 45 minutes for it, and when it came, it was of a poor standard.
Great location spa fantastic had outdoor pool but also indoor of cold outside
The only thing is it’s on a hill and they charge for parking I had the apartment but did not say that I could park outside for free
Beautiful hotel in a lovely part of Torquay! Outdoor pool is lovely and has nice views - indoor spa was exceptional! The hotel was beautiful, breakfasts great and the two bedroom apartment we stayed in was ideal for us as a family of 3.
Very little we didn’t like. It is up a big hill if you walk from the harbour and in the apartment we would have appreciated a washing up pack with cloth/ sponge and a clean tea towel perhaps!
We really enjoyed our stay at Lincombe Hall Hotel?.This was our second visit and we are already planning to book again .They staff worked very hard and always helpful.
There wasn't anything we didn't like
Our 4th visit and we haven't returned to other hotels. Hotel excellent food delicious and staff wonderful. Great facilities and a very relaxing and memorable stay. The room was lovely
Loud music played endlessly and with my hearing condition it was necessary to use earplugs. Maybe make it more serene and lower volume
A very good spa
Disappointed that literally as soon as we arrived we were greeted by the receptionist to say because we had booked through booking.com we had to pay £15 to use their car park, as others have said we do believe this should be factored into their advertised costs. We were shocked considering we had booked a room & it was the hotels large car park we didn’t expect to incur additional parking costs as a guest. The lady on reception kindly stated you can park free on the roadside if you can find a space & luckily there was one so we immediately moved the car. We also believed we had booked a room with breakfast included but on arrival were shown a receipt saying it was just room only. A shame as we would have booked The Belgrave hotel down the road that included everything if we had known. We knew it included everything & was £9 cheaper for the 1 night stay. We Wouldnt like this to happen to others. The room could have been cleaner rust & dust on the blinds, radiator & light fittings which you wouldn’t expect. Mould on the bathroom wall & grout especially in the shower.
The hotel was so lovely 😍
The outside area
We had someone outside of our room at 4.30 am when the room next door wasn’t occupied and it sounded like they were about to come into ours they had a device playing really loudly, we were scared and couldn’t get back to sleep so feel like our second evenings sleep was awful
The indoor spa For below : Noise from other people’s rooms . Could hear them moving around x quite easily from next door and above
See above
Spa looked nice
My phone would not connect to the electric charger app. The reception team seemed uninterested in trying to help me sort this out and just suggested that I cancel my booking and find somewhere new to stay. I felt completely dismissed.
Lovely, staff were great, pool was nice
Breakfast was just okay, charged for parking(I understand a big city, but 95%of guests must arrive by car, if you need that £45, just add it onto your rate)
Decor was good housekeeping suspect - dirty mirrors and filthy dust on wardrobe no flannels Spa was great treatments Poor vfm car parking expensive… room small and it moves easily downstairs room. With only a miss fitting musling to give privacy from people walking past……great location think it would struggle to maintain 4 star rating on this showing ….
Lovely spa and hotel
The hill walking back 😂
Spa was good
Light fixture was caked in dust and bathroom had lots of mould especially on bath screen. The bath filled of water after about 10 seconds of using the shower. Room was also very small.
Lovely room and always the spa
Having to pay for parking as booked with Booking.com
Spa was exceptionaly clean, relaxing after a days work.. Food reasonanably priced and good variety, excellent breakfast.
Nothing I would return, however not for the infirm if you were wanting to visit town or beach. If you have difficulty walking call hotel to find out where your room is located.
It was very clean throughout, the room was spotless, and the spa was amazing. Even the outdoor pool was immaculate. I would highly recommend spending a night away here it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The gym could have been slightly better equipped, but then again, how many people come to a hotel specifically for the gym when there’s such a fantastic spa to enjoy.
Amazing venue with even better service
N/a
Just lovely overall and the spa and outdoor area was everything we were looking for
Nothing
The spa!
Bathroom was a bit chilly
The food in the restaurant and at breakfast.
Space for personal items in bathroom.
The team at the hotel were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was beautiful, clean, up to date but still full of traditional character. The spa facility is excellent - a must do when visiting.
Clean and comfy
Limited menu
Beds were comfy and staff nice
The spa bit on night we arrived steam room wasnt working water was colder the next morning no salt sauna or dry sauna
Beautiful building! Lovely quiet location considering it is so close to a busy beach town
Lovely comfortable hotel beautifully decorated in a relaxing style, together with the spa makes for a perfect indulgent relaxing stay
Nothing really, all great and we enjoyed a lovely stay
Fabulous spa....lovely and clean
The outside of the property is rather grand and Victorian in appearance and it is set in mature gardens. The interior aspires to an elegance of the kind that Hyacinth Bouquet would enjoy. The breakfast was very good and the room was presided over by a very pleasant and accommodating maître d.
Our room was cramped because the king size bed, which was very comfortable, took up most of the floor space, leaving very little room for two people to move about. The bathroom was also small and fairly basic. The size of the shower gave one very little room for manoeuvre.
Spa facilities. Staff excellent.
Dinner menu poor.
Lovely clean and modern decor, great location
Staff were really accommodating when we changed room to part of the hotel we really liked . Hotel excellent accomodation and food Spa very good. Have been before and will go again.
The Spa Facilities were first class Room clean , nice change as a couple to have ample towels Location close to Marina
We were staying on 3rd floor - no lifts so quite a stair climb Also hill to hotel quite a steep walk from town
Nice reception (Kelsey) and all other staff very pleasant. Room was close to the parking area and the rooms for breakfast, lounge, spa areas all very well maintained. The room itself was sufficient but a King size bed would have given us more space (perhaps a small coffee/card table installed). The area of the hotel and grounds are fabulous but not ideal for people with old legs because of the sloping ground. We loved the Lincombe Hall and would book again in the future. P.S. short walk to harbour.
The en-suite room was not well designed and needs updating. As mentioned before the room was too small for such a huge bed although very comfortable.
We returned to Lincombe Hall for the first time in over 30 years to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversery. It didn't feel at all special and our room was a little disappointing for the price we paid. Reception staff were aware of our Anniversary. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and clearly were well trained and knowledgeable. We were not in any way upset with our stay but for a hotel with such a high previous reutation we would say that the overall experience was average to good.
Room a little tired
Modern and contemporary. However the terrace from the bar needs some work, we would have liked to of sat outside with our drinks as it was a sunny evening. The spa was great and its facilities will definitely come back to use but not to stay.
Service charge for bucket of ice! Then a charge to have it taken to our room. Our room was dirty. The carpet was coming away in places and cobwebs in the bathroom. There was also a big hole in the wall not exactly what we would expect!
Staff were freindly and helpful, Everywhere was clean and tidy and the spa was very good.
Only the slippery floor in the bathroom.
