Exceptional location in the centre of the old town. Full of character. Nicely decorated room. Easily walkable to all local areas. Warm welcome and explanation of some key local sights. Decent enough breakfast. Would highly recommend the hotel restaurant in the evening.

Parking is a bit of a nightmare to be honest and local traffic can be very heavy at times. We got lucky with free parking along the bottom of the Fortezza a couple of times but there are some other free on-street parking options if you are prepared to be patient, or some private parking lots for cEUR25-30 per day.

L’emplacement de l’hôtel était idéal, à deux pas de tout. L’atmosphère générale de l’hôtel (déco, cour intérieur, chambre avec mezzanine) était très agréable. Le personnel était très accueillant et souriant. La salle de bain était spécieuse.

La vétusté des équipements de salle de bain (buses de baignoire, chasse d’eau et robinetterie très oxydés), joints de baignoire marrons, sèche cheveux peu puissant. Odeur ++ de remontée d’égout dans la salle de bain pouvant embaumer toute la chambre.

De ligging was perfect! Personeel erg aardig en het zwembad was heerlijk. Kortom een heerlijk verblijf.

El desayuño muy bueno. La ubicacion exellente, en pleno centro pero sin agobios de ruidos. Transporte cerca. La gente muy amable. El restaurante muy buena y comodo para cenar por las noches. La banera jacuzzi super. y el hilo extensible muy util para secar la toalla y bañador.

Un poco mas de luz en el habitacion, no habra ido mal. y un calentador de agua para hacer un tea o cafe.

Authentiek hotel midden in oude stad op steenworp van oude haven en stadsstrand. Romantische sfeer en kamer. Geweldig begin van road trip Kreta.

Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Altstadt unweit vom venezianischen Hafen und vielen Tavernen und Geschäften entfernt. Alles fußläufig erreichbar. Das Personal ist wirklich sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit - zu jeder Tages- und Nachtzeit - vom Stubenmädchen angefangen bis zum Rezeptionspersonal. Die Minibar ist immer aufgefüllt und die Klimaanlage war Anfang September Gold wert. Für Morgen-Läufer ideal - man kann kilometerlang entlang des Hafens und danach entlang der Uferpromenade seine Runde drehen. Im September unbedingt schon kurz vor Sonnenaufgang - ca. um 6:45 loslaufen. Wer nicht in Rethymnon baden gehen will und ein Mietauto hat, dem empfehle ich in Richtung Georgioupolis zum Paradise Beach zu fahren. Eine Fahrt in die Bergdörfer (z.B. Kastellos - Marias Taverna oben am Hügel) ist meinr Geheimtipp für alle, die wirklich original kretisch essen wollen.

Ausstattung des Bades (Dusche mit Vorhang) und Toilettenspülung ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Zimmer sind nicht barrierefrei zu erreichen (kein Lift) - einige Stufen zu steigen. Der Innenhof verfügt über einen Pool, allerdings hat dieser keine Leiter zum Rein- und Raussteigen. Man muss entweder sportlich rein und mit Stütz raus, oder über eine Gegenstromanlage reinkraxeln. Gut trainierte Oberarme empfohlen! Die Parksituation ist in Rethymnon leider der totale Wahnsinn zumindest ist der Hauptsaison. Wer mit dem Mietwagen anreist, sollte sich dessen bewusst sein - vor allem in der Nähe der Altstadt / Fortezza. Es gibt nur wenige kostenfreie Parkplätze, oder man zahlt ca. EUR 25 pro Nacht.

Love the decor and the patio with the little swimming pool. Our room was small, but the beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed our breakfast here. We also ate at the restaurant tonight before and it was great.

Vi blev opgraderet, men fik et værelse hvor sengen var ovenfor nogle trapper og toiletpapir bad nedenfor trappen, ikke optimalt når man som jeg skal på toilet flere gange om natten. Morgenmaden var ringe. Tørt brød tørre spejlæg og flydende smør.

The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was simple but nice, location is great, but the thing that we liked the most was the staff and how they went above and beyond to help us, specifically with taxis (which are hard to find in the Old Town!)

The only small complaint (and it's not a huge deal) was the shower temperature fluctuating from hot to cold every 30 seconds or so. But I'd still recommend this place.

The hotel was a beautiful property, in the heart of the old town. A short walk and you'll be lost in this beautiful place. The staff were lovely and friendly.

Shower wasn't the greatest to wall clip so was a little awkward. The rooms could be updated but also helps with the boutique feel of the hotel. Certainly wasn't a massive issue.

Notre chambre et surtout salle de bain très vetuste qui mérite d 'être entièrement refaite. Problème de douche on passe du très chaud au froid. Le tapis des escaliers sont en très très mauvaise état ce qui donne vraiment une mauvaise première impression c'est dommage car c'est un bel hôtel mais qui est vieillissant. Horaires piscine pas adaptées en août.

Les hôtes étaient accueillants et le personnel au petit soin, de très bons conseils, les lieux étaient toujours propre et super bien placé

Le petit déjeuner manquait de plus de choix de fruits frais et de vrai café plutôt que en machine automatique

This property is in the best location, the staff couldn’t be more kind & helpful, the rooms are clean and well organised & the restaurant is an added bonus food was exceptional!! It has a calm aura throughout & no problem is too big for the team at Palazzino! The decor and style just adds to the Greek flare x

Service was great, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was basic but nice, and suitable for the price. Room was nice and a decent size.

We had to hold the shower head by hand to shower, and without a shower curtain, which was a bit of a pain.

Er was geen parkeerplaats in de buurt van het hotel te vinden. Minstens 15 minuten lopen of ontzettend duur betaald parkeren. Ook de badkamer is niet in verhouding tot de kwaliteit van de rest van het hotel. Gammele douche, gaten in de tegels. Dit had jaren geleden al opgeknapt moeten zijn als je jezelf luxury noemt.

The hotel is in a perfect location in the Old Town. Lovely little courtyard with pool. The rooms are very spacious with good aircon. Would go back!

The room we stayed in was outdated and felt old-fashioned. The hair dryer was very old and didn’t work properly, so we had to ask for a replacement. We also found the shower difficult to use because it was an older model, and there were no instructions. Fortunately, the lady at reception was very helpful and showed us how to turn it on.

At der stank af lort på vores værelser og at gangene var mwget, meget mørke. Vi stod faktisk på hovedet ned af trapperne og ingen kom og hjalp. De mange, mange trapper er direkte luvsfarlige at bevæge sig rundt på.

Perfekte Lage inmitten der Altstadt. Wir sind sehr freundlich empfangen worden und bekamen noch ein paar Tips für Ausflüge. Zudem hatten wir Glück und haben ein Zimmer Upgrade erhalten.

Wonderful location in the old town close to the port and all the historical sites, restaurants and shops. Historical stone building with lovely sitting areas and timber details. Plunge pool was clean, cool and refreshing after time at the beach. Spa bath and hand held shower were very good. Restaurant on site was very popular.

Our room was very dark and on the top floor. The mezzanine bedroom had two single beds even though 6 months prior to our stay we requested a double bed. This was not able to be accommodated due to availability which was pointed out in no uncertain terms. The bathroom was down a winding staircase which was perilous in the middle of the night.

Excellent location. Walking distance to many attractions in the area. Reception staff was OUTSTANDING- provided you with a map, directions to the closest attractions, beaches and made excellent suggestions for restaurants. Breakfast each morning was wonderful and they even provided something when we had to leave for an early flight our last morning. Even the maid was cheerful and couldn't do enough to make sure you were happy! Parking was reasonable in the lot when free parking was unavailable.

There were stairs to reach our room which was not a problem for me. The staff transported the luggage which made things very manageable.

Stairs were a challenge

Very warm welcome from lovely chap on the desk, who carried up our cases to the room. Room was spacious and bed was large & comfortable. Terrace was lovely. Very handy for old town and 3 mins walk from Port Parking.

Bathroom was a bit dark and whilst we had an impressive massage bath, we couldn’t really take a regular stand-up shower.

Hotel is very cute with an old fashioned, traditional vibe. It is in a perfect location for the old town., with all restaurants and bars down little alleyways. A good mixture of traditional and modern bars too on your doorstep. The courtyard area is beautiful and relaxing. The restaurant also is very good and the staff in both hotel and restaurant are lovely.

As much as it's meant to be old fashioned it could still do with a slight renovation in rooms. We only had a bath so showering sat in the bath was fun. Rooms aren't very sound proof and can hear every sound in rooms. And take your own hair dryer as it was abit useless.

Historic building in a great location with nice courtyard and pool to chill in when hot, staff are friendly and check-in/out very simple, the room itself was interesting set over two floors with an upstairs mezzanine floor bedroom and lower snug and bathroom leading out to a spacious patio

The bathroom was a major let down in our room, the shower didn't fix to the wall so just had to hold it and wash, the jets in the bath were mouldy and dirty, the toilet would occasionally emit a sewage-y smell too, TV's in the room didn't work, general cleanliness of the room, quality of the towels, etc. etc. overall poor, could just tell that maintenance and investment in keeping the property to its best potential wasn't being met

Wunderschönes, kleines, familiäres Stadthotel mit sehr herzlichen und hilfsbereiten Mitarbeitern nur wenige Schritte von der trubeligen Altstadt Rethymnos entfernt. Unser Zimmer lag sehr ruhig zum Innenhof, war sehr sauber und hatte bequeme Betten. Leckeres Frühstücksbuffet mit selbstgemachten Marmeladen und gegrilltem Gemüse. Obwohl wir am letzten Tag schon sehr früh abreisen mussten, durften wir schon vor 6.00 Uhr im Frühstücksbereich frühstücken. Auch das hoteleigene Restaurant ist für das Abendessen sehr empfehlenswert. Auf dem Parkplatz am Venezianischen Hafen (Entfernung 300 - 400 m) kann man für 17 Euro für 24 Stunden relativ preiswert parken.

Leider ist der im Bad befindliche Föhn - zumindest für lange Haare - völlig ungeeignet.

The location was perfectly situated between the beach and beachside restaurants (approx 1km) and the old town shopping and restaurants (approx 0.5km) The staff were amazing, from the owners to the cleaning staff.

There are other complaints about the hotel, and I would agree the pool is relatively small, but I provides a nice afternoon break from the beach.

Séjour vraiment très agréable dans cette vielle bâtisse aux multiples recoins. Tout est très joli de l’espace piscine aux chambres. Le petit-déjeuner est excellent. Le personnel est aux petits soins et très souriant. La situation de l’hôtel en plein centre est un vrai plus.

L’hôtel étant très bien situé dans le centre de la vieille ville, c’est bruyant jusqu’au bout de la nuit. C’est le jeu, il faut l’accepter. De même pour stationner, il faut accepter de faire un peu de marche pour éviter de payer. Tout est gratuit le long de la citadelle.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and escorted to our rooms, which was a very nice touch! A good location for walking everywhere, very central and less than two city blocks from a convenient parking site - yet our room was quiet. Breakfast was held in the restaurant on site and plentiful with lots of options.

Keeping in mind, this is an older building in the older part of the city, the bathrooms were modern, however, as we found in most of our lodgings, showers were not typical of what Americans are used to. It’s all handheld showerheads which can be fun and tricky at the same time!

Optimale innenstadtlage, freundliches personal, gutes Frühstück

Unser Zimmer 'Sapho' , also Zimmer 38, hat leider das Restaurantküchen-abluftrohr im Zimmer verlaufend, wss Geräusche vegursacht. Dann geht ab 0.30 der Disco-club gegenüber los mit spürbar wummernden Bässen.

Sehr nette Menschen, die dort arbeiten. Die Lage ist klasse. Sehr gutes Bett. Es ist alles sehr sauber und am Empfang konnte die Dame uns einen prima Überblick über die Stadt vermitteln.

Das Badezimmer entspricht nicht dem Standard, wie es angeboten wird. Sehr veraltet und dringend zu renovieren. Ebenso das Mobiliar auf dem Balkon. Ich glaube, dass es im Haus auch renovierte Zimmer gibt. Dann sollte das bitte bekanntgegeben und preislich unterschieden werden. Das Frühstück mit abgepackter Butter u Marmelade sowie Obst aus dem Glas hat in diesem Haus nichts verloren. Da kann gerne verbessert werden um mit den Mitbewerbern in dieser Kategorie mitzuhalten oder sich bestenfalls abzuheben.
