Reviewed Aug 15, 2026This is a lovely property in Middleburg at the end of a quiet street with good facilities. The staff were efficient and very friendly. Rooms were clean & the food in the restaurant was excellent. Also have an outside pill & small playground for children. A really great option for a stay over in the area.
The towels are ridiculously small for big people. & rather than asking yr patrons to keep them white use another color. Can never understand why establishments always use white towels!

Google had us travel on a dirt road from the N1 just past Colesberg. We should have phoned the Lodge, as they would have been able to advise differently. But we traveled safe and managed go get there easily.

Reviewed Jun 12, 2026We stayed at Celtis Country Lodge & Restaurant on 10 June while travelling to the Western Cape, and our overall experience was excellent. The lodge is very neat, the rooms are clean and well maintained, and the staff provided friendly and professional service throughout our stay. Having a restaurant on the premises makes the experience especially convenient. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast there, and both meals were fantastic. We stayed in Room 12. The only negative aspect of our stay was the king-size bed. Unfortunately, the mattress on the right-hand side felt worn and sagged, which made it less comfortable to sleep on and affected our overall sleeping experience. We have stayed at Celtis before in a different room and slept very comfortably, so we believe this may be specific to this particular mattress. Apart from that, everything was excellent. Had it not been for the bed, we would gladly have given a 10/10 rating. For this reason, we are giving it a 9/10. In our opinion, this is definitely the best place to stay in Middelburg. We will certainly stay here again in the future and simply hope that some attention can be given to the mattress in Room 12. Thank you for the excellent service and hospitality.

Reviewed Apr 7, 2026The breakfast has a nice varied choice of hot meals and good bottomless coffee , plus we like the fact that one can park your car securely and have a nice meal on site in the evening , and they have a large pool if you wish to swim. We have stayed here several times, the management and staff are always very welcoming and the service from all is excellent. A great stop over whilst travelling.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026The property had good security, staff were very friendly, grounds were lovely. Our room was clean, of a good size with air-conditioning and a fridge, which helped a lot. Bed was comfortable. Had a nice outside area were we could sit. We had room 1. Our friends stayed in another room and they didn't have as nice a room.
There was no door on the bathroom and the lighting to apply makeup was too dim. Also the inclusive breakfast options were all with egg, no fruit, cereal, yoghurt or something like mince or avo on toast.

The noisy neighbor, but we reported to front desk and they were very helpful and apologized Google maps takes you through the unformal settlement and there were burnt tires and rocks lying next to the road. going home the next morning, we used an alternative route.

The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are well appointed and clean, it is peaceful and quiet and the food at the restaurant is amazing. They even had a power point to connect my caravan for the overnight stay and they have a charging point for EV's.

Using old bath towels as swim towels was not appealing. Idea, buy 10 towels from Mr Price and use a sign in and out book. I would suggest on the family room main door to have a lock for safety purposes.
