Our visit to the W Punta de Mita was, without question, the worst resort experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was terrible. The staff was consistently rude, dismissive, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests. For a resort charging luxury prices, the level of hospitality was completely unacceptable. The property itself was also a huge disappointment. The beach chairs were dirty and worn and the beach felt neglected and was nothing like the luxury experience we expected. Considering the premium prices, there is simply no excuse for the condition of the beach and facilities. The most disturbing part of our visit happened as we were leaving. A valet employee confronted us during a disagreement and told us, “This is not your country,” and said he could “send people to your room.” We perceived those statements as threatening and intimidating. No guest should ever be spoken to that way, especially by someone representing a luxury resort. Instead of attempting to resolve the situation professionally, we left feeling unsafe. To put this in perspective, we visited Auberge the day before for essentially the same price. The difference was incredible. The service was warm and attentive, the beach was beautiful and clean, the chairs were comfortable, and the food was outstanding. It was everything a luxury resort should be. There are far better places to spend your money in Punta Mita. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend the W and would strongly encourage travelers to choose one of the many other exceptional resorts in the area instead.
Had the most memorable and delicious lunch with Francelia and Joan at Chevycheria. We had the tuna tostada and aguachile, safe to say they were the best ceviches we have ever had!
We are flying home right now. Our five-day stay was incredible. Front office check-in and staff were a pleasure (Ruben). And server Julio was outstanding. The room was exceptional, they take very good care of Marriott members with status, the resort was clean, the sitting area at the pool is mostly all couch beds (without a charge), and ……. A WOW experience.
Beautiful property in front of the beach, delicious restaurants and spectacular service - with no doubt we will come back
Nothing, everything was great
Muy amables ✌️
The W Hotel has a beautiful property with a great jungle vibe, and the pool area is visually stunning. These are definitely the highlights of the experience. However, this was not the 5-star experience I expected. The hotel would benefit from stronger staff development and leadership training. During my stay, I felt uncomfortable with how aggressively payment was requested, almost as if there was concern that I would leave without paying. That interaction felt unprofessional and out of place for a luxury property. Another disappointment was the dining experience. An 11% service fee is automatically added to the bill, yet staff still seemed to be soliciting additional tips, which created an awkward situation for guests. The main pool was also excessively warm. When I brought the issue to the staff’s attention, no action was taken to address it, despite the pool being climate-controlled. Overall, the property itself has a lot of potential thanks to its beautiful setting and atmosphere, but the service standards and guest experience need improvement before it can truly deliver on its luxury brand promise. Calidad, buen servicio amabilidad
W Punta de Mita is a standout hotel and easily one of the best W properties we’ve visited. From arrival to departure, the experience was polished, welcoming, and memorable. The resort’s design blends contemporary style and the natural beauty of Punta de Mita. Rooms are beautifully appointed, exceptionally comfortable, and thoughtfully integrated into the surroundings, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Service is a defining strength. Every interaction felt warm, genuine, and professional, with staff consistently going above and beyond to ensure a seamless stay. Dining was equally impressive. Chevichería became a daily favorite thanks to its excellent cuisine and vibrant setting, while the rest of the food and beverage program—from poolside drinks to restaurant dinners—was consistently outstanding. Most of all, the people make this property special. Special thanks to Ruben and Carlos at the Front Desk; Marco and Luis at the Living Room; Oscar and Armando at the Wet Deck; Alvaro, Chef Roberto, and Regina at Chevichería; and Belen and Francisco at Venazú. Their hospitality and attention to detail made a lasting impression. With exceptional design, attentive service, excellent dining, and a remarkable team, W Punta de Mita delivers a top-tier resort experience. We look forward to returning and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
ubicacion privilegiada y un servicio excelente.!
el tema de las propinas es un poco excesivo ya que por todo servicio te hacen automaticamente un cargo por el mismo servicio, encima te pide propina por todo!
I suppose the entry experience should have prepared me… a serpentine, unintelligible google map made a 4 mile entrance… 30 minutes of ‘where is it anyway?’ The staff is helpful and friendly… and everywhere you need to go is … far away. Carts go everywhere, and carts are required [I am somewhat impaired walking-wise] for ANYTHING. Ocean-side, I hoped for a seafood dinner. I am assured Restaurant menus can be scanned for my selection — delivery free! Except everyone contradicts this when you call for assistance. If your call is answered at all. Not exactly a Premium experience — not exactly what the Marriott brand promises. I would stay elsewhere, but no Marriott properties are nearby to accommodate a request for transfer. “W” Punta Mita is a disappointment. I wouldn’t consider staying at this property again.
Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
We spent a lovely week at the W in late March for Spring break. The resort, food and service were all wonderful and exceeded expectations. The spa experience was so peaceful and relaxing and the massage therapists were very strong and skilled. We thought we'd take some day trips but ended up spending all but one day on the beach and by the pool with drinks and snacks. Rubra was a highlight.
The W Punta Mita overall was a good stay, with a few caveats. To begin, the location and overall design of the hotel (rooms, lobby, pool and beach) were excellent, all working together to create a relaxing and secluded experience. I would recommend the lagoon facing rooms, but try to stay away from 1101/1102 as those rooms do not feel very private due to the nearby lobby and walking path. Moreover, the beach felt private and the included lounge beds at the pools were great. Finally, the food at the pool and at the spice market restaurant were both excellent, albeit very expensive. However, I can’t say the same for Venazu, which was very expensive for food that was okay borderline bad (and again very expensive). More, during our stay, both hot tubs were barely functioning, which was a disappointment given the high price tag. If you want a luxurious and relaxing vacation, choose the W. However, for the price of the rooms plus the crazy high prices for food and drinks, I would recommend looking into the nearby all inclusive resorts which seemed just as nice for a cheaper price tag.
The beach and adult pool area are excellent, really clean and not over crowded
The room and room facilities don’t feel like a 5 star hotel
It was our first time at the property, and we were well taken care of by the staff at the W. At arrival we were upgraded to a lake view room with a beautiful view of the lake (albeit a fake one!) where you could watch the local birds frolicking about, we were also given complementary breakfast with our status, which was a nice surprise. The property is beautifully maintained and is lush with greenery. The gym facilities were great and clean, and I also attended a wonderful yoga class at the Away spa. We ate at all four of the onsite restaurants, Rubra, Venazu, Spice market and the Wet bar. Rubra probably needs its own review, but the food and concept of 'back to the roots' Mexican cuisine by Chef Daniella Soto-Innes was an amazing experience. The breakfasts at the Venazu was also very pleasant (including buffet on the weekends). And I would like to give a shout out to Dani for excellent service. I had one of the best moles from their dinner menu. Spice market offered asian fusion cuisine, which was good but not great. I do highly recommend the ceviche from the Wet Bar especially at lunch.
My stay at the W Hotel was truly unforgettable. The Equinox event was incredibly relaxing, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind and reset. One of the highlights was the takeover by Brujas Bar—it was fun, unique, and added a special energy to the experience. The mixology class was also fantastic, offering an engaging and interactive way to enjoy the evening. The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Gustavo at the front desk provided outstanding hospitality from the moment we arrived. Marcos Montero, our bartender, was absolutely incredible—his creativity and attention to detail made every drink memorable. Fernando Arroyo, the restaurant manager, was also extremely helpful and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The hotel itself has one of the best atmospheres—luxurious yet deeply relaxing. Our ocean-view room with a private pool was simply out of this world, offering both comfort and breathtaking views. The sound healing experience was another standout moment, leaving us feeling completely rejuvenated. The spa, beautifully nestled among the trees, created a serene and natural environment. The different pools added to the experience, making it the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. Overall, the W Hotel delivers a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and unique experiences. I would absolutely return.
As a long-time Bonvoy member, I chose W Punta de Mita expecting a true high-end Marriott experience. Unfortunately, this stay fell far short of that standard — especially at approximately $800 per night for an “ocean view” room that offered only a narrow sliver of ocean visible from one angle. The room itself was inconsistent with what one expects at this price point. Towels were old and had an unpleasant odor. Housekeeping was unreliable — on 2 of our 4 days, the room was not cleaned despite multiple calls requesting service. Electrical outlets were concerning; several faceplates were loose and fell away when plugging devices in, exposing the interior wiring. The light and AC controls were overly complicated and extremely bright at night, requiring us to physically cover them to sleep comfortably. On a positive note, the pillows, sheets, and duvet were comfortable. Dining was one of the most disappointing aspects of the stay. Two of the three restaurants were closed due to the cartel violence situation in Puerto Vallarta, leaving only one dining option that offered a mandatory $60 buffet. Because the resort was effectively on lockdown and we could not safely leave the property, we felt forced into that option. After raising concerns, we were shown an à la carte menu — but told that half of our group still had to order from the buffet. It felt inflexible and unpleasant. On our first night, our group of 20 (with orders submitted two days in advance) was served by a single overwhelmed waiter. Orders were confused, some children received their meals after adults had already finished, and separating checks by room became unnecessarily complicated. Basic service standards were lacking — water was not brought to the table unless requested multiple times, and repeated follow-ups were needed before anything was addressed. The pool area and vegetation/trees in the 'resort' is beautiful and the beach has lovely sand. However, poolside service was extremely slow and staff were difficult to find. Even when approaching staff directly, responsiveness was minimal. The most troubling experience occurred when nine members (4 children) of our group checked out to fly home, only to have their flight canceled due to the ongoing violence situation. Despite having room availability, the resort refused to readmit them or even allow them back onto the property to stay with family members who still had rooms. There was no flexibility, no accommodation, and no goodwill gesture — nor any discount offered for the significant reduction in services during our stay. Entry key card had to be reprogrammed numerous times if it comes in contact with mobile phone, no other luxary hotel has ever had this issue. Our entry key pad at one point had to be reprogrammed and battery changed by personnel, font desk acted like this is first time this has happened. They do not have enough personnel. Bellman for checkout was going to take a longtime, we carried our luggages to front desk ourselves. To catch a ride to the front took a long while. Services not very optimized. The front desk management’s demeanor was indifferent and unempathetic. In a hospitality environment — particularly under challenging circumstances — empathy matters. This was not the level of service, safety, or professionalism I expect from a Marriott property in this category. I left deeply disappointed and would not return to this resort.
Our Valentine’s stay at W Punta Mita was truly next level. Our Nightly Upgrade Awards were confirmed before arrival, and the Premium Ocean Front Suite with private pool completely blew us away. The views alone were worth it, but having our own plunge pool overlooking the ocean meant we honestly didn’t need to leave the room. We even watched whales breaching right from our balcony, which felt absolutely epic. The food across the property was incredible. Rubra was the perfect choice for a romantic Valentine’s dinner. We also loved Chevy Night at the beachfront restaurant. The surf and turf was to die for, and the setting felt intimate and special with the ocean just steps away. We booked a cabana at Wet Deck Too for a day and it was PERFECT. The adults-only vibe, beach access right from the cabana, and fantastic service made it one of our favorite experiences. The family pool hot tubs were often filled with kids earlier in the day, but by late afternoon and evening they were usually open and a great time to relax without the splashing. We also signed up for the guacamole and tortilla cooking class, which ended up being guacamole and salsa only. No tortillas, but honestly we still had so much fun. It ended up being just the two of us, so we basically had a private class with an awesome instructor, which made it feel extra special. The staff throughout the resort were phenomenal. They even arranged an offsite dinner for us at Casa Tradicional, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip. From the service to the food to the unforgettable ocean views, everything felt seamless and elevated. We cannot recommend this property enough and are already looking forward to our next stay.
We just spent three wonderful nights at the W. Overall, the experience was great. The rooms are a bit dated (my only reason to give it four stars), but everything else is first-rate, especially the staff. In particular, I have to share that our experience in the small “truck” restaurant ("the Chevy”?) was the highlight of our stay. Joann, Bryan, and Fran were exemplary hosts and we would highly recommend the W just to experience lunch there. And Fran’s versions of ceviche were heavenly. I would place her creations as the epitome of Mexican cuisine (and we have been coming to Mexico since the 1980s.). Even if you are not sure if you will like ceviche, you will love Fran's magic - fresh, pure, and flavorful. Antonio, the server at the Adult Pool, was also outstanding.
Had a terrific anniversary stay at this beautiful and fun resort in Punta Mita. The only issue keeping me from giving a flawless five rating was frankly the apathetic and unhelpful front desk staff. My wife was dealing with a severe leg injury so couldn’t handle stairs, but the front office staff (I discussed the issue with two separate associates) said there were no options available so nothing they could do. As a Titanium member I was quite perplexed. Fast forward to when the hotel bell guys brought us to our room, saw the 15 steps down to our room and my wife’s concern, and they sprang into action. They immediately knew the room wouldn’t work for us, contacted management, and within the hour provided us with a suite with no stairs. Truly exceptional service and hospitality from Jesus and Leo. Our stay was wonderful with terrific dinners at both Spice Market and Rubra. Special shout outs to the bartenders and Sommelier at Rubra. Concierge, Aide, was exceptional, arranging transportation and dining reservations in town. The pool staff was also great, and the beach side spa massage was fantastic. Overall a beautiful property with great restaurants, awesome beach, and two stunning pools.
Staff is amazing service great. Liz de cocina best trompo. Al pastor tocos on the pool. Leo bellman is a gracious host
I have been a Marriott member for 45 years and this was the worst experience ever. We paid thousands of dollars for an all inclusive vacation. When we checked in my wife was not feeling well and we were told it was not inclusive and we would have to pay for our meals. They gave us the worst cheapest room like a dungeon. The hallway to our room was dark and dangerous. I spoke with the manager Ruban Escalante and he only offered us a discounted meal plan at $165 instead of $200 a day. I feel cheated we paid fa ton of money for a bad room and were told it was all inclusive and we were lied too….Do not stay at this terrible “resort”
A truly lovely location on the beach with an overall relaxing environment. This year we could get a 2+ mile walk in on the beach in the mornings--last year when we were there the beach was much smaller/shallower which limited how far you could walk before you came upon rocks/cliffs we couldn't walk around. The Rooms felt very private, most of the resort is effectively laid out as two room duplexes, which I find much nicer compared to a high-rise style resort. I think this property offers great value compared to some of the other big name resorts in Punta Mita--particularly if you enjoy relaxing on an uncrowded beach vs playing golf.
Our room was close to the lobby and main amenities, which was great. On the downside this means you are more likely to have groups of people walking past you on the pathway back to their rooms at night. This wasn't a problem for me but perhaps something to consider if looking at a lagoon view room.
We had the absolute BEST and I mean BEST trip ever at the W Punta de Mita. The W Punta Mita took care of every wish and need going above and beyond at every step. It was pure relaxation and amazing vibes all around. The property is truly stunning from the rooms, to the restaurants, the pools, the beach (our favorite), and the spa (absolutely must book something at the Spa to experience it). The excursion we booked was great and very easy to coordinate as you can book through the hotel. Truly what made this trip so special though was staff. They were absolutely amazing and all so kind. From the front to desk to wait staff to spa to bellhops. A couple special shoutouts below and I hope whoever is reading this gets to meet them: Itza: AMAZING poolside service. We loved getting to know her and she was so kind to us and remembered our orders after the first day so we would come down to the pool or back from the beach and have our drinks waiting for us. Augustino: Incredibly friendly and anticipated everything we could need. He had waters waiting for us at our chairs, drink refills just as we finished our current drinks, great food recommendations, and even better conversations. Gabby: At venazu she was our waitress on our first night and she was so fun to talk to. We chatted with her throughout the rest of our stay and is so much fun! Marco: FANTASTIC bartender at the living room bar. Was so nice chatting with him and having him make some cocktails or trying new liquors we haven’t had before. Leiti & Gustavo: Both were fantastic at the front desk from check-in to check-out. We stopped by a few times throughout our stay to check on things and they were always so kind and helpful. Estella & Josue: Both helped us coordinate transportation to and from the airport and also an excursion to the marietas islands (you MUST go). Josue was so detail oriented and very easy to work with and Estella was amazing too. We will absolutely be returning to the W Punta Mita without considering another property!!
Traveling with a multi-generational family of nine. Beautiful property, lovely service and perfect beach for walking (40 mins to walk to other end and back!). A big shout out to Aide and Josue from concierge. They responded immediately via email before and during our trip. Best of all, they helped us plan the most epic surprise for our family matriarch — arranging a 10-piece mariachi band to celebrate her. Outstanding concierge service!!! Exceeded our expectations. We will be back!
The place is quite outdated and needs refurbishment Shabby rooms lobby and restaurant Staff barely speaks English Food at the pool bar is inedible Food at restaurants is quite bad too Waited in restaurants for food for ages every night Staff is inexperienced Confused orders Ectr Concierge charged extortionate taxi rate 100 usd to go 100 min Same taxi company same distance 10 usd Very bad Towels and sheets dressing gowns in the rooms are of Grey color Never come here again All pretty bad
La ubicación es fantástica. La mejor playa para poder pasear.
No me gustó la música que desde el desayuno a la cena es la misma. No te deja oír el mar. Propondría algo más relajado según las horas.
The W Punta de Mita exceeded all expectations. Returning after six years for my partner's birthday proved it's just as exceptional as we remembered. The hotel team contacted us before arrival to ask about any special occasions, and once I mentioned the birthday celebration, they went above and beyond—acknowledging it throughout our entire stay with thoughtful touches from complimentary drinks to desserts. Their attentiveness made us feel genuinely valued as guests. We rarely left the property because everything we wanted was right there: outstanding cuisine, beautiful pools, welcoming bars, and a spa that ranks among the best I've experienced anywhere. This place has earned our loyalty, and we're already planning our next visit.
Great service thank you Jose! He made our surf and turf experience one to remember. What a great hotel we will be back……..
Jose was great at dinner. The food was fantastic as welll and the beach setting was serene. Nice music, waves, food and drink
My husband and I just visited here for 6 days over Thanksgiving week 2025. We had previously vacationed here back in 11/2021. I will say that this experience exceeded our expectations and we would go back again! To start, the hotel is about a 45 minute drive from the PVR airport. The hotel will arrange for transportation for you if you ask, but it is so much cheaper to order an Uber once you arrive (you just have to cross the pedestrian bridge when you leave the airport). The room: We had an escape suite room. We had the same room when here in Nov. 2021 but this one was so much nicer. It's a nice large room with a living area, with a gorgeous bathroom - 2 sinks, separate WC, and a "wet room" where you have a shower and soaking tub that looks onto your pool area. The patio had two chairs and a low table, plus to lounge chairs and a side table. The private plunge pool was awesome, but this room was better in that we also had a nice grassy area in front of the plunge pool, equipped with a couch, two cushy chairs, and a fire pit. This was all right behind the adult pool (where we had made friends and all ended up hanging out in this grassy area). We were even serviced by pool staff there which was awesome. It was super convenient to both the adult pool, as well as the beach! We loved the room and overall huge thumbs up. A small complaint (not a huge deal) was the very low lighting. I could hardly tell what I looked like when getting ready for dinners. The food: we were pleasantly surprised by the food this time, as neither one of us remember that it was particularly great in 2021. The BIGGEST STAR is that they just added a new restaurant called Rubra in 2024, and wow, what an amazing decision. They're only open on Wednesdays-Sundays, or we probably would have eaten there every night. The restaurant itself is so beautifully designed, we felt like we could have been in NYC (but much better weather). Beyond the gorgeous aesthetics, the food was incredible! We live in SF and consider ourselves low level foodies, and we were blown away by the food. Every dish we had was phenomenal. And the flavors of the sauces were divine. We always ordered the Sonora Wheat Sourdough that comes with the most delicious cultured butter. This is highly recommended as we used it to mop up the remaining sauces from the dishes. It was that good. The green bean salad with mandarin, jicama and mango was to die for and we were drinking up the remnants of that one as well (do not miss that dish!). The waitress promised to get us the recipe and I regret forgetting get it from her before we left. Do not miss out on the short ribs. It's a dish for two, but do not skip it. It was the most delectable short ribs we've ever had. Tender as butter and again, the sauce was stupendous. The food here was an five star (really a 6 star), along with the service, and I would not be surprised if they received a Michelin star at some point. The ceviche at the Chevycheria was excellent, and we indulged several times. There was a sort of pop-up surf and turf dinner on the beach area the night we arrived. That was fantastic, from the grilled vegetable salad to the fresh grilled fish of the day to the lobster. Super flavorful dishes and simply yet deliciously prepared. We ate at the Spice Market one night, which was a bit of a miss for us. But others we spoke with loved it, and it is a beautiful space. We did not eat at Verazu other than for the breakfast buffet, which is decent enough. The menu didn't really appeal to us and we didn't have great memories from our trip in 2021. The W had a menu for Thanksgiving dinner, but we were really itching for more of an American Thanksgiving, so we gave the St. Regis a try. That was a huge mistake on our part. The dinner there was very med, service not good, and WAAAY overpriced for what it was (I think my husband wrote a review for that separately). Lesson learned. If we go to Mexico for Thanksgiving again, we will not try to have the typical American Thanksgiving. We should have known better. The service at the W is about a 4.75 stars. EVERY SINGLE PERSON you run into that works there is the NICEST people we've ever encountered. Everyone had a genuine smile on their face and sincerely wanted to help. It was a pleasure interacting with everyone. One of the reasons we returned here is that when we left our trip back in 2021, I had left my Cartier watch in the room and was panicking as it was too late to turn back for it. I wrote to them in the app and they actually found it and SENT IT BACK TO ME! I don't know where else in the world that would ever happen. The only (very tiny) nits - I asked for decaf nespresso coffee pods upon arrival. They said sure but they never seemed to make their way to our room. I asked again on the second day and they arrived! Yay, but instead of giving us a few of the decaf pods, they removed all the regular pods (which my husband was using). They also didn't replace them as I used them so it only lasted a day or two. Not a huge deal as we discovered that Rubra serves coffee in the morning and their coffee is to die for. Otherwise the cleaning was great. We made a point to ask for cleaning service and turndown when we wanted it. DIdn't want to take a chance on missing it. The Spa: we both went to the spa two separate days. I had two massage treatments, and my husband had one and a facial. We thoroughly enjoyed both. The spa is really beautiful. The changing rooms are huge and clean and just beautiful. They have a dry sauna and a wet sauna, separate shower rooms and amenities to get dressed, plus the rooms lead out to a shared/coed area that has a large pool, plus a small hot tub and cold plunge pool. It is really heavenly back there and they constantly come out bringing you refreshing tea/blueberry popsicles, frozen grapes, chlorphyll water, etc. We highly recommend!! The gym: we spent every day in the gym and I don't really have much to complain about. It's a pretty great gym for a hotel. You've got all the cardio, plus a lot of weight machines and free weights. They have cold water and towels there as well. I've seem some reviews complain about the state of the property, and I remember that a bit from 2021. But I really did not experience that this time. No, it's not a brand new property and some things are starting to wear. But I really did feel over all that the property was well taken care of. The excellent service by the staff, plus really nice mix of guests that were all very friendly (not uptight like at other resorts), plus the overall vibe of the property, makes it a real winner for us.
The room they checked us into, the shower was full of black mold and had stuff stuck to the wall as it had not been cleaned. The mirror by the shower had residue from the prior guest. The room was not clean. We checked out and they charged us for a room we could not shower in due to the uncleanliness. I have always liked the W Hotel chain; however, this was a sub standard hotel and not well maintained. Not only was the shower dirty it had chipped tiles.
A quick, last-minute getaway to W Punta de Mita did not disappoint! The resort perfectly blends modern luxury and lush tropical grounds with a relaxed, colorful beach vibe. The beach is gorgeous! Perfect for soaking up the sun and taking in the incredible sunsets. The rooms were beautifully designed, spacious, and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We loved our private patios, the ideal spot to enjoy our Bonvoy welcome snack. A huge shoutout to Héctor with the concierge team...absolutely amazing! Within 12 hours, he had us completely set up with dinner reservations at Spice Market, tee times for the guys at Higuera Golf Club, and spa services for the ladies at Away Spa. His attention to detail and quick responses were beyond impressive. The spa was serene and beautifully set, treatments were divine. Highly recommend! Check in was seamless, and the welcome Paloma was delicious. While waiting (only 20 minutes) for our room, we enjoyed another in the Living Room and chatted with Cassandra, the friendly and knowledgeable bartender. The property has two pools with great ocean views and super-comfy lounge chairs. Our pool server, Ryan, was attentive, cheerful, and made excellent suggestions for cocktails and snacks. We also attended the Marriott Bonvoy Golden Hour reception in the Living Room Bar, such a nice touch! Meliana, the manager, was a delight to chat with. Dining was exceptional. At Spice Market, Diego provided fantastic service and spot-on recommendations. The food was delicious, and the ginger margarita was out of this world! The breakfast buffet at Venazu was the perfect way to start the day. Jesus took great care of us, always keeping our champagne glasses full, and the made-to-order chilaquiles are not to be missed. Overall, W Punta de Mita is a true gem from check in to check out. Offering top notch service, stunning design, and a laid-back yet luxurious atmosphere. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!
La amabilidad del staff, las instalaciones, el ambiente .
Los tiempos de traslados en los carritos fueron lentos
Our stay at W Punta de Mita was nothing short of extraordinary — from the first hello at the front desk to the last sunset on the beach, the service exceeded every expectation. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member, I’ve stayed at many W properties, but this one truly stands out for how personally they recognize loyalty. From the moment we checked in, Mariana Carmona at the front desk greeted us warmly and went above and beyond to acknowledge our elite status. She made sure our room was perfect and arranged a thoughtful welcome amenity that set the tone for a spectacular stay. Gabriela and Luis from the front team were also incredibly friendly — the kind of team members who make you feel instantly at home. The management at this property deserves major appreciation. Rene Rivera and Wanda Anzaldo checked in on us personally during the stay, making sure every detail was flawless. Their proactive hospitality made a lasting impression, and it’s clear how much pride they take in creating memorable experiences for loyal guests. The concierge team — especially Gustavo and Hector — were exceptional. They helped us plan daily activities with local insight that made the trip feel uniquely personalized, from dinner at Hector’s Kitchen to a guided surf morning. Every part of the resort showcases the W vibe while keeping things warm and authentic. The decor is stunning, the WET Deck atmosphere is electric and relaxing at once, and the food — from ceviche at Chevychería to the breakfast at Venazú — was consistently outstanding. It’s rare to find a property that matches contemporary style with genuine hospitality, and W Punta de Mita nails it. Huge thanks again to Mariana, Gabriela, Luis, Rene, Wanda, Gustavo, and Hector — you made this an unforgettable elite experience. Can’t wait to return soon and experience the exceptional hospitality!
Pros.. excellent service, great food, adult pool Cons...super hard bed, not very clean, misc things didn't work (part of the shower), uncomfortable furniture in sitting area, not worth the money.
Nice hotel and beautiful setting. Sunsets can be stunning. I have stayed here twice. The first time there was a very loud wedding after party above us that went until 3 am. Called the front desk but made no impact. The second time I did not have that issue and it was nice and quiet. I have only stayed in the suites here with the plunge pool and those rooms are great. Food options are limited. For me the lush landscape and great beach along with great rooms are the reason to stay. Service and food is why I rate this 4 stars.
Clean room friendly staff
Friendly staff. Good food and drink options. Excellent variety of gluten free food options with knowledgeable staff on allergy requirements. Rooms are a little funky with limited bathroom privacy. Double room had limited storage but king room had plenty of space for stuff. Beds were comfy. Property is spread out but they do offer golf cart shuttle.
excellent
upgrade was all worth it, gorgeous specious room, close to beach and beach club.
Nos encantó el lugar, la atención y servicio! Quedamos encantadas con W Punta de Mita. Nos encantaría regresar pronto!
A good place to pass a perfect time
Definitely not worth it!
The W Punta de Mita is an unforgettable mix of luxury, style, and vibrant Mexican charm. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with the W’s signature energy—playful yet upscale. The property feels like a tropical oasis with lush jungle surroundings opening up to the most stunning stretch of beach. The design is modern and colorful, with plenty of Instagram-worthy details that still feel authentic to the culture of the region. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, many with breathtaking ocean views. The staff truly make the experience exceptional—they’re warm, attentive, and go out of their way to personalize your stay. Dining is also a highlight: from fresh ceviche by the pool to gourmet dinners with a view, every meal felt like part of the vacation. Whether you’re lounging at the pool, taking a surf lesson, or enjoying a sunset cocktail, the vibe is always fun and relaxed. Perfect for couples, friends, or even a solo recharge.
One of my favorite spa getaways - and favorite spas in the world!!! I've been here either 3 or 4 times in the last couple of years, including a very long unplanned stay in January when the LA fires broke out mid-stay. All my friends know this is one of my go-tos for when I'm super burnt out and need a getaway, so 5 stars. PROPERTY: So gorgeous, half beach and half jungle vibes. I've seen some of the prettiest sunsets of my life here. They are extremely generous with upgrades (one of the most important things to me as an Ambassador elite who basically lives at various Ws), most of the time I'm in a suite with a private pool. I've seen the inside of a standard room too and think those are also nice. I am hoping the next time I stay, I can be in one of the newly renovated rooms as the decor is much more my vibe (neutral and relaxing) vs the super colorful decor that most have today. I love walking around the property to get my steps in, there are constantly people taking care of the grounds. The gym is also stunning, gorgeous jungle views and lots of equipment (all new). Most W gyms these days are amazing and I really appreciate that! SPA: Ambassador status (and Titanium) also gets you free access and discounts at the spa - one of my favorites in the world for a couple reasons. 1) the facilities - gorgeous pools of various temps across a tropical backdrop. SO relaxing. And, they have a sauna and a steam room in each locker room. 2) the massages are INCREDIBLE. I've had treatments from Carmen, Kenia, Moises, Lupita, Rubina - I can't even describe how much better I feel after and how I've NEVER had a bad massage even after probably having a dozen+ across all my stays. The de-stress massage is my go-to, along with the all-day journey they have. Cindy and Saul who run the spa always make me feel right at home, Annie who is one of the attendants always brings around their homemade blueberry green tea popsicles and hibiscus tea (my faves). FOOD: Breakfast at Venazu (also open for lunch/dinner) is absolutely amazing (free with status), the food is delicious whether it's a la carte (lower occupancy days) or buffet. In particular, Felipe is my favorite server and always remembers me, has the best attitude and service. Lunch/Dinner options include: - Venazu: same as above - more traditional Mexican, used to have amazing duck carnitas but no more - Spice Market: Asian fusion and has this tomato kasundi dip I dream about - Chevy: Ceviche on the beach - not open past like 7 but delicious and huge portions - Rubra: super fancy tasting menu but actually the worst dining experience of my life, slow/clueless service, absent management, I DON'T RECOMMEND Drinks are amazing everywhere and this property is where I fell in love with mezcal! SERVICE: Sometimes the service is not the best... I do think they really try. Gustavo in particular (I think the welcome desk manager?) has always tried to resolve any service issue I've had and Hector from Concierge is better than most of the front desk associates, but sometimes you just get someone who doesn't understand, or isn't totally truthful, or takes a long time to get back to you. There's been a bit of miscommunication in every stay that I've had (housekeeping not showing up when requested, hours to restaurants being incorrect, rude messages via the app). I met the GM Oscar and Jazmin director of rooms during a recent stay and I appreciated that both took the time to listen to some of my feedback, as I do truly love this hotel and will continue coming back. I hope the service can become as seamless as some other Ws (like London). BOTTOM LINE: Have been here many times and will continue coming back! Just waiting for rainy season to be over :)
On a scale of 1-10 I wish I could give the W a better than 10! This resort is top tier. The view is beautiful. The beach the property sits on has soft sand, the waves are huge and guest enjoy surfing. The grounds are well manicured and constantly attended to, to ensure optimal comfort for guests. Our room had an amazing layout, with a private plunge pool on the rooftop. The decor in the room was amazing, the detail made it feel like home. The bed was soft, almost making it hard to get out of daily - are the blankets weighted? Probably! The automatic shades make the view from room beautiful without having to get out of bed! The dual shower heads and the outdoor bath tub made relaxation a priority, almost a spa feel! The staff greet you every time you cross paths. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. I wished we could have checked in a little earlier but understand why we couldn’t - other than that, I have no complaints. The hotel did accommodate a late check out so that made up for it tremendously! The food was not bad, very much upscale dining except the breakfast buffet. We enjoyed the French toast and the omelette station daily. We tried 2 dinner restaurants - Spice Market (Jose was great, attentive and a pleasure to see twice) ribeye was great - & Venazu - pizza was to die for, wood fired and fresh deliciousness. Overall we had a positive experience and wish we could have stayed longer!
Las instalaciones impecables, nos encanto que hay una alberca solo adultos las 24 hrs.
El costo de los restaurantes es algo elevado.
The transportation options to and from the hotel are extremely unreasonably high in cost
El área verde
se supone que el desayuno estaba incluido, pero resultó que no y el costo fue realmente excesivo
Extraordinary hotel. Very comfortable. Great service. Very nice staff. Spectacular food. Incredible sceneries. Highly recommended.
Hotel, instalaciones, personal, amabilidad, tranquilidad
Precios de los restaurantes
Loved the W Hotel it was so relaxing , the people who work there are super friendly amd knowledgeable about the area . Breakfast was so good and lots of options !
We stayed the third time at Punta Mita and after the St. Regis and Four Seasons we decided to try the W Hotel now. Location and Installations: 5/5 A bit outside of the classical Punta Mita area where the other properties are. The advantage of the W is the great beach and ocean where you can literally swim all day! The W in comparison to those other properties has the best beach area by far, is a bit smaller and you can reach everything easily by walking. There are two pools very close to the beach are, one for adults only with a nice view over the beach and ocean and the pool for everyone (1 minute walking) with two jacuzzies. At both pools there are bars and food available almost 24/7. There were always enough sunbeds available. Restaurants: 5/5 Amazing food! We had lunch at the Chevycheria, amazing seafood and fish! Also the food at the pool was always delicious, shrimp or fish tacos, fresh prepared salsas… We loved the dinner at Venazu Restaurant, one of the best Enchiladas we ever had! For us the food at the W was always delicious and spectacular, for our 4 day stay not necessary to get out for lunch or dinner. We booked the all inclusive package with was completely worth it! For lunch every dish is included at for dinner there is a separate menu, with about 20 main dishes at Venazu for example… including delicious vegetarian options. Service: 4/5 Overall fantastic in almost every part of the hotel. Specially at the pool and restaurant the set ice outstanding, here I want to thank specially Antonio who is doing a fantastic job at the Chevycheria restaurant or the pool area. Also a special thanks to Julian from housekeeping, Gabi and Alejandro from Venazu restaurant where we had dinner three times. And last but not least to Arturo( breakfast) and Sergio (Pool). The staff during the day is really amazing, fast and friendly! Why only 4 of 5 stars: I compare the W to other 5 star properties with a price tag of 1,500 USD per day for our room incl the AI package. The second day in our ocean front pool villa there was no cleaning at our villa. We were outside for breakfast and at the beach from 9:30 to 6:30pm. Explanation: we have a little delay… our room was then made when we went out for dinner. During the turn down or cleaning, nothing special like in other 5 star properties was made, e.g. fresh fruits or little handwritten card.. also the classes of our wine and the ice of the bucket were never changed, you had to ask always for it. At check in I had to ask for an upgrade which was only offered for an extra cost (520 usd per night). At FS or St Regis, both as well as the W when we stayed here with less tab 40% occupancy offered upgrades for free for 2 categories and the rest for a small payment. As well as check out, no one asked if we enjoyed our stay or if that they’ll be happy to see us again. In those areas the W must work on to remain a 5 star property and to catch up the service of their great staff at the pool and restaurants! Rooms: 4/5 My wife’s parents stayed at a wonderful jungle view and we booked an ocean front pool villa. Also the wonderful jungle room is very spacey and a 5 minute walk to the beach and pool. Our villa was huge, with two bathrooms, amazing beach and ocean view and a huge pool overlooking the ocean. A very comfortable bed and a two minute Walk to the ocean and 3-4 minute walk to the main oool and restaurants. We liked the interior design, very traditional Mexican from the 60s combined with the special W new design touch. Why only 4 stars: we felt that a renovation will soon be required here and there… pool and jacuzzi cleaning was never made, only upon request… and no personal details during our 4 day stay in one of the highest room categories at this property. Overall summary: Great location, too beach and ocean, nice pools, great service at beach, pool and restaurants, nice rooms and delicious food. Opportune areas: service at other areas as described, probably lack of Personal on weekends when the hotel gets more busy and a renovation of the adults only pool and rooms could be required soon.
Everything was perfect, from the food to the service. Antonio took great care of us with drinks and food during our stay. Everyone that works there is super friendly.
Antonio attended us a few days and he certainly made our stay 100x brtt
Loved this property, we would definitely stay again. One thing to note, the food is extremely overpriced and mediocre. There is one restaurant in the property that was extraordinary and although very expensive worth every penny, it is called Rubra and it is one of the best meals I’ve had in Mexico.
It was a beautiful property with great food as well as the location. However some things such as towels are a bit old and furniture looks like it needs replacement.
Gorgeous place, beautiful rooms, and wonderful service. In the midst of the jungle, very private. We will definitely go back.
I wish I could stay forever! It’s like an enclosed oasis. I would love to return during the cooler season! It’s a huge resort, everything is in walking distance. It’s a jungle with adorable rooms. We booked a jungle view balcony room, and it’s was beautiful and pet friendly. We travel with my sweet senior chihuahua, and they were incredible to him. I highly recommend purchasing the W Unlimited package (food/drinks included) and it includes an hour of hydrotherapy at the AWAY SPA. 10000% recommended. So relaxing and just pure serenity. Also worth mentioning that they have great vegetarian options! My husband loved the seafood, and they even have a pet menu.
Bohemian luxury! We picked the jungle room and loved it; truly felt immersed in vegetation and secluded. Every walk felt like an excursion. The beach was beautiful with huge waves but low tide; we had our 8 year old and never felt unsafe swimming in the ocean. The food was amazing, every bite in every restaurant; great drinks mixed with real fresh fruit juice. There aren’t any activities at night, but we didn’t feel the need to seek any other option; this is a place to relax and enjoy nature and peace. We will be back!
This place is amazing. Beautiful facilities, comfortable rooms, and an amazing beach access. The hotel was built in the middle of the jungle making your stay a very pleasant and unique experience. Loved our experience at Punta Mita. My only recommendation would be to rent a car to go explore the nearby towns and avoid the expensive taxi rides.
Unbelievable stay the W Punta Mita! Such a wonderful experience. The resort is beautiful, food incredible and the staff are just fantastic. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning!
This was an amazing hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The food was fantastic and I had a beautiful jungle room. I love the property and all the flowers and trees on the property. It is really quite stunning. The beach was also really fun to swim in and the two pools were great. All of the weight staff was fantastic, I had a lot of dietary request and special needs and they accommodated me every time. The rooms are also breathtaking. Another highlight of my day was the manager Edgar. He helped me secure a really nice room as well as was very kind to me upon check-in. He also helped me sort out some thing with my bill and couldn’t have been kinder or nicer. I wish Edgar worked at every single W Hotel all over the world! He is a outstanding employee and Hotel is really lucky to have him.
Loved the lush landscape. Food was really good. Cocktails tend to be very limey and sour. Could have been sweeter. Staff was excellent.
Highly recommend the W Punta Mita for a relaxed vacation. The property is beautiful and the staff is incredible. Great restaurant options and poolside service.
Loved the shaded beds by the pool, the pool itself and beach with the nice waves, and the resort itself with great food and spacious rooms. The food was excellent - even the breakfasts! We loved the shopping and the nice walk to and from the main buildings from our room. The gold carts were convenient too. The gardens were beautiful.
Overall this is a great place to relax, enjoy a tropical paradise and splurge a bit. It is remote, and the listed taxi prices that the hotel offers are not cheap. We rented a car, but driving out of PV to this hotel was a bit hectic, trying to learn the road rules and keep up with the other drivers. The hotel during this time was less than 50% at capacity according to the concierge at check-in. On-site activities, pre-arrival and communication Before arriving, you get an email with a link to all of the weekly activities. The concierge (Josue and Aide) were both great - incredibly helpful getting you reservations at the restaurants on-site (like Rubra) and booking external activities. They responded well via email, but you could also go to them directly at the front desk. The hotel has a WhatsApp and communicating to them via the Marriott app was quick and easy. The on-site hotel activities include paid and free classes. I signed up for 2 free classes (mixology and guacamole, salsa and tortilla making) and 1 paid class (mole). The free classes were awesome - especially learning how to make salsa from scratch. The paid mole class was ok ($800 pesos) as you didn't make anything; the chef went through the process of how to make mole, but what we eventually consumed was mole made previously since it takes at least 24 hours to stew. The beach in front of the hotel is gorgeous - the sand is incredibly soft. The waves weren't very strong in May, and I did see some people out in the ocean. Marietas Islands The external activity I booked via the hotel was a boat trip to Marietas Island. This included a trip to Hidden Beach, snorkeling, and a trip to another beach. On the way back, we saw a mom and baby whale, which was incredible given the time of the year. The tour company was Riviera Mita Tours and was only 15 min away in Punta Mita. Just a note that the operators require 2 pax minimum to go out, and the original operator I used did not have any other sign-ups. Unless it's very busy, I don't think you need to book in advance as they typically require an advance deposit. Since the original operator canceled, the deposit was refunded via cash (originally paid via PayPal) except the PayPal surcharge of $49 pesos was not refunded (that is fine but it reflected the lack of need to book in advance). The 2nd option actually utilized allowed us to pay in full via credit card. Platinum Breakfast Platinum breakfast was great - you had an option to choose oatmeal / cereal / fruit & granola with yogurt plus an egg option plus juice, coffee, and 2 pastries. You need to specify that you want all of those, otherwise the staff won't bring them out (i.e. the pastries). The breakfast was incredibly filling, and there is an option to pay extra for the buffet when it is available, but it was not available during our stay. Spa The spa is pricey but very nice. Not crowded at all - only 2 other people at the co-ed facilities when I was there. The sauna is hot, but the steam room didn't have much steam. The multiple outdoor pools were nice, and in the trees nearby, I even spatted a large iguana! I booked one of the spa specials, which included a body scrub for the price of the 50- min massage, and comes with an hour pass to enjoy at the facilities (although I think it was ok if you stayed for longer than 1 hour). The masseuse was great. Parking I believe valet parking is only available, even though the website lists self-parking as an option. There are 2 gates that you have to drive through to get to the resort, and then you go straight from there (google maps isn't correct, just keep going straight). Once you get to valet, you can walk down a road or request a golf cart. The resort really isn't that large if you don't mind walking - from the beach to the gym, it is a 5-7 min walk. Overall a great stay if your intention is mostly to spend the majority of time lounging at the resort.
Amazing property, great food, and outstanding hospitality
Terrible!! They put us in a basement with no elevator with a 5 month old knowing full well we had a 5 month old! 30 plus steps down- said it was oceanfront and it had shrubbery all around the outside and all adults pool in front of that you had to walk around and past a bar to get to ocean. Terrible food and beyond terrible staff at front desk. They knew we had a 5 month old and put us in a dark dangerous room with steps. See video!!! This won’t let you upload video but Marriott wouldn’t even take a look at this without constant follow up- even as titanium members. Dark depressing room and expecting me to go up and down stairs 30 plus with a stroller?! And 5 month old!!! Wow!
The property is going through a refresh and while we did miss the colorful and local decor it still has the essence of Mexico. The food is amazing…shout out Spice Market. The staff is what really makes this property worth the return. I feel terrible that I don’t remember the names of the guys at the pool and Chevycheria who were consistently making our day lovely, thank you gentlemen. It was my birthday week and there must have been a note on my room number as everyone made an effort to celebrate with me. The concierge team is outstanding. Gustavo and Anna…gracias! You’re truly the definition of excellent and professional service. Jesus/Diego took excellent care of us at breakfast. The beach is spectacular and clean. The grounds are straight out of Jurassic Park. The location close enough to town and far enough to disconnect from reality. We rarely revisit a property, this one is extremely special and we will continue to return.
General: rooms are basic, staff is not the friendliest, beach isn't maintained, beach is not private, cleanliness was an issue overall, food venues were pretty good.... Specific: We have experienced a great number of issues and inconveniences throughout our stay: a front door that didn't lock, housekeeping issues where they couldn't get our room cleaned for more than half the time as they couldn't schedule it correctly, a dirty floor upon check in (hair and dirt, not just marks) a shower that backed up sewage (video shown to front desk).. they were to extend a credit which was still far from being considerate for the challenges experienced and now on top of this we were charged for something we clearly didn't agree to or sign for by their adventure/excursion team. They pretended to credit us for our challenges by saying they were doing something for us but in reality it was already part of our booked package. It's been weeks of back and forth.
The pool and the ceviches
The mistreatment in the spa, the lack of shower and hands soap gel I. The bathroom. Lack of maintainance of rooms.
Work on quality of food in your restaurant. The only great restaurant on property is Rubra.
Fantastic stay at the W! The attention to detail at every turn is impeccable. Super friendly staff and extremely clean. We highly recommend it.
Oh my goodness, where do I even begin to describe the absolute magic of my recent stay at the W Punta de Mita? From the moment I arrived until the heartbreaking moment I had to leave, every single aspect of this hotel was pure perfection, easily earning a dazzling five stars and then some! Let's talk about the staff first, because they truly are the heart and soul of this incredible place. Every single person I encountered, from the warm smiles at check-in to the attentive servers by the pool, exuded genuine hospitality. They anticipated my needs before I even voiced them, offering helpful suggestions, remembering my name, and always going above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Their passion for the hotel and for providing an exceptional experience was palpable and truly made me feel like a valued guest. Then there's the location... simply breathtaking. Nestled on a stunning stretch of the Riviera Nayarit coastline, the W Punta de Mita offers unparalleled views of the sparkling Pacific Ocean. The lush, vibrant surroundings create an atmosphere of serene tranquility, while the proximity to the charming town of Sayulita offers a taste of authentic Mexican culture just a short drive away. Whether I was lounging by the infinity pool, strolling along the pristine beach, or enjoying a cocktail as the sun dipped below the horizon, the scenery was consistently awe-inspiring. And the food? Prepare your taste buds for a culinary journey! Every meal was an explosion!! I could keep going
Wow, we wish we could give 10 stars! Been coming here for years, it's one of the best places I've stay around the world. It's crazy beautiful, lush jungle on a perfect beach. They have 2 gorgeous pools, one of which is for adults only. The food and drinks are phenomenal, I recommend getting a mezcal margaritas with grapefruit and ginger, and the tuna ceveche tostada with peanuts and pumpkin seeds, poolside. Both restaurants are incredible too, The Spice Market has a jewbox of an interior with and Asian inspired menu that knocks it out of the park. The people and the service are of a St. Regis or Four Seasons level, personable, friendly, welcoming, and so very helpful!! We are already planning to return this next Winter!
