The property was beautiful
Nothing bad to say
Camere pulite ogni giorno e rifornimento minibar costante. top top top
nulla tutto benissimo, con nostro grande stupore.

Many of the staff were outstanding. Food was very good. Poolside activities were a lot of fun and definitely entertaining.
There were a handful of staff that were definitely sub par. The app is terrible and what activities that are going on throughout all the included resorts was not clear at all that app only showed the aquamarine activities yet there where multiple other resorts and common areas that had activities but there seemed to be no way to find out what and when these activities where.Due to some upgrading construction (necessary evil) so things were moved around but map, signage, etc. did not show this so where certain things like restaurants actually were, was very confusing.
We stayed at the Bahia Principe in June 2026 for a special celebration. The overall experience was mixed with positives and dissatisfaction. Positives: Personnel overall are friendly and customer-focused; the gardens are beautiful and well kept. However, we were dissatisfied on the following: rooms are incredibly outdated, rusted bathrooms and 5 of our rooms had AC issues; the music in the pools and bars is low quality and you can barely appreciate it; the nightclub is NOT included in your stay and incredibly expensive; the food quality is OK but not to the standards of an All-inclusive; when the buffet is closed, on multiple occasions the snack bar/grill area by the pools only offered chips and salsa/no personnel available for support; check in process is complex, they should consider an express check in line; and lastly the entertainment around the pool needs more structure and pool hours should be extended. It gets pretty boring to be around at times.
Great location, friendly staff, food was good, and service was great.
Sometimes the AC would cut off at night and it would get hot.
Property was clean
There is no elevators. Not easy to walk stairs to third floor with a sick leg
A nice stay. I recommend the place. Thank you.

We stayed at the Bahía Príncipe Aquamarine. We had a pool side room on the third floor no elevator! The room was very clean . Atmosphere was a lot of fun thanks to Robert and the Dance team there! I recommend you download the App and book all your Ala cart restaurants usually allowed 5 days before your trip .. loved Meat restaurant and Mongolia! Flame was good too!! Otherwise you will eat at the buffet ! No chance to get in to those restaurants.. everyday we went to a different restaurant fun getting their welcome drinks.. This trip offered a lot for the price! Wonderful location close to the airport. I would go back .. Easy to get around with the extended golf carts! Thank you Bahía Príncipe ! Also a Hyatt property! Beach is a 2 min ride away!
Staff is extremely friendly. The hotel is very clean. Lots of food variety even for vegetarians.
Si muy buena comida
Todo estuvo bueno
Absolutely amazing holiday, excellent facilities from the room to the pools and restaurants. The staff are so attentive and friendly from the general manager to the waiters and the housekeeping teams, nothing is too much trouble for any of them. We have stayed here 4 times now and cannot wait to return. Would thoroughly recommend it to everyone.
Never been to DR before so all new to us check in was good and quick Carlos at desk was very helpful great surprise with our room very big with large balcony overlooking pool with no palm trees obstructing view as most rooms had them so very happy with that , nice big bathroom with whirlpool bath and large shower, food in buffet restaurant was decent always something to have couldn't knock it ,al a carte restraunts where we eat were good ,definitely recommend normad,. The 3 pools where large no issues with sunloungers entertainment team where always on the go , and work hard all day and night ,very loud at times , and if you know BOB you know iiiiiiiii and my friends from CANADA I must of heard this 3 thousand times lol been from England your mixing with alot of South Americans, Canadians Americans, etc but the ones I met and talked to where lovely people so this was a big plus . You get staff bringing drinks to you poolside and what we found out was the more people tipped the better drinks and glasses they recievied ,I don't go away to spend all my money on a service I have already paid for although I do tip generously ot still wasnt really enough , you could see some staff sticking to certain areas of the pool ,obviously where they were getting larger tips, so I done plenty of trips to the bar ,I only found one bar lad who seemed geniune that was sandros he was spot on , where the others give you the impression they didn't want you there especially kamika the small girl who only smiled at me on my last day lol I wonder why that was , maybe expecting a tip on me leaving ,didn't happen ,i do go by first impressions with people , but overall I couldn't knock the staff they do work hard all day , the pool area is always clean the pools are warm ,but they definitely have an issue with pipework corrosion, we googled it because our swimwear was turning green lol plus the wife's hair had a nice tinge of green in it after been in pool ,we just binned the ruined swim wear but the wife came home with me 🤣 we couldn't fault the place all in all and wouldn't write off a return , the night entertainment was hit and miss the retro night is definitely the best , we actually seen it twice and if you like a pool foam party theres plenty of them lol ,we prefare more laid back holidays these days but we had a great time and met some great people . There's one thing I'd say about the domincan, if you want to sell stuff to holiday makers stop trying to rip everyone off the prices in them shops at hotel are shocking 40 dollers for a cooler cup 6 dollers for a small toothpaste and the price of the cigars in a country where they originate from is beyond shocking take note you will sell more .
I have just arrived home after a 2 week stay. I travelled with my mom, and from the very first moment until the last we had a fabulous vacation. Check in was great- we arrived right around 3pm, and the staff at the check in counter (unfortunately we did not get their names) were welcoming and friendly. They were able to accommodate our request for rooms close to each other, and we ended up directly next door to one another in rooms looking over the pool area. We also received quick and very friendly service at checkout, where Marco ended our stay with more of the positive energy we had experienced the whole time while at the resort. I have travelled to the Dominican about 50 times, staying in about 30 different resorts. The service at aquamarine was far above anywhere I have been. The hosts at the buffet were so sweet, and we had amazing service at breakfast by Jose, and lunch with Raimer. Our water glasses were always filled within 30 seconds, and our drinks orders taken right away and brought while we filled our plates. There were so many food options and we liked everything we tried. We didn’t use the buffet at dinner as there are so many à la carte options that we were able to use. We had delicious meals and great service at all of them! We enjoyed cocktails in the lobby every evening before dinner, and then again after dinner while sitting outside in the terrace area for the live music, dancing, and shows. Luis, Andy, and the rest of the bartenders there knew our drink order after the second night and always made them with a smile. The entertainment team was friendly, energetic, and fun. We enjoyed getting to know Jose, Luis, Robert, and Vianely. Isaac, the entertainment supervisor, was also fun, super friendly, and great to get to talk to. Dancing with all of them to the live music in the evenings was so much fun. Another special shoutout goes to Adolfo, one of the drink servers around the main pool. We were always served our drinks just to our liking and with a smile. And speaking of the pool, the guys cleaning the pools thoroughly every single morning were great and also greeted us with a friendly ‘hola’ every morning. The property as a whole is large, but once we learned our way around the different resorts it was quick and easy to get where we wanted to go. The trolleys were also always close by if you prefer to catch a ride. Guest services in the main lobby were helpful and friendly, and through them I was able to organize a birthday cake for my mom at our dinner reservation on the evening of her birthday. It was sad to have to leave, but we both agree that we will definitely be back again. Great job to every employee, we didn’t run into anybody who wasn’t happy and helpful. We are thoroughly impressed, you should be proud of the team of employees you have there. Thanks all for a great holiday
Just returned from 10 days at Aquamarine, our first trip to the DR. Resort is massive but always trolleys running to take you where you need to go. Alternatively it is walkable which we often chose to do. Buffet for breakfast & lunch is very samey but had different options each evening that we went. We tried a few of the a la cartes, MEAT and Portofino being stand outs. We spent a lot of evenings at the Ambar Sports Bar which was great. Only downside was the amount we were bitten when we sat outside here. The pool bar staff were excellent and extremely attentive. Special shout out to Yorkie and Liciana who made our pool days so enjoyable. The entertainment team here also do a great job of getting everyone involved. Robert was always friendly and doing the rounds around the pool. Only downside to our trip was on the last night we returned to the room to find a huge leak coming from upstairs. It took multiple calls to the concierge and a trip to guest services before maintenance came out 90 minutes after we first reported it. By this time the bathroom was entirely flooded and we had to move rooms at 1am. Appreciate these things happen but waiting 90 minutes when we have reported a severe leak was incredibly frustrating.
Receptionist supervisor gave us a dirty room phone did not work shower only had hot water shower was in a deep bath tub .floor was full of dust we had three hand towels .next day we change rooms still hot water only in shower .beach is full of seaweeds I did not go in water.have to wake up at 6 am to reserve a chair with umbrella at pool. The food was really bad at buffet recycle food chicken roasted first day then different sauces is added to serve next two days eggs are burnt .only one speciality restaurant had good food..have to walk far to get trolley it’s not as it was a year ago. I will not go back I am 69 years old vacation suppose to be pleasure .
After 6 days we decided we wouldn’t return to this hotel again
To Whom it May Concern: We would like to give a summary of our trip to The Bahia Principe-Aquamarine in the Dominican Republic, Room Number 82307. This was my first time ever leaving the country, but not the first time for my wife. However, we both feel this trip was a horrible experience and has altered my opinion of ever doing something like this again. We flew out from Northwest Arkansas on May 22nd, to Miami to catch a connecting flight that took us to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Our flights were fine, it wasn’t until we got into the van to make our way to the resort that things began to change. We had set up transportation through AmStar. We met our AmStar representatives and they led us outside to a van. There were several AmStar vans in the area, but he led us to a van that was not AmStar. I didn’t catch what company’s name was on the side of the van, but I’m 100% positive it was not AmStar. Our driver did not work for AmStar either. We entered the van with 4 other people, 6 of us total in the van, we sat and waited for approximately 20-30 minutes for our driver to enter the van and take us to the resort. Our drive to the resort was awful. I know that people drive differently in other countries than the United States, but our driver was all over the road and showed no concern for the lives he had in his vehicle. And I have the drive from the resort to the airport at the end of our trip with an AmStar driver to compare it to, which was much better than the drive from the airport to the resort. So that started our trip out very poorly. We arrived in Punta Cana Friday evening, and after a day of traveling we were exhausted. We had purchased an Anniversary package that was supposed to have a welcome bottle of liquor, a door banner, discounts on spa services, and I believe discounts on merchandise, none of which we received when we arrived. Our first full day at the resort was Saturday May 23rd. We decided to keep it relaxed and spend the day at the resort pool. While entering the pool I fell down the steps leading into the pool and injured my tailbone. The entire pool area is very slick tile which makes it very easy to slip. I did not go to a Dr to get looked at but was severely bruised and had difficulty standing and sitting for several days. The next list of things that we encountered at the resort may not be in chronological order, but were serious issues that affected our stay. The outside of the resort (grounds, pool area, entertainment lobby) was taken care of very well, was clean and very visually appealing. However, the inside of the Aquamarine Resort is a different story. The hallways, stairways, and our room/bathroom were dirty all the time. I will attach photos of the stairway I took on Thursday the 28th as a snapshot of what they looked like the entire week we were there. Our bathroom had long black hair on the floor that was there the first 3 days we were there. My wife and I have blonde and brown hair, so we know this wasn't either one of ours.I had to clean the jacuzzi tub before my wife and I could use it because it was so dirty. I'm also attaching a photo of a door of a room approximately 2 rooms down from us, where we noticed on Wednesday the 27th (after we had been there 4 full days) a “Happy Anniversary” banner had been draped over the door. The same banner to the same package we had purchased that we did not receive and was told by an AmStar representative that the package we had purchased was no longer available due to the fact that Hyatt Hotels had taken 50% ownership in March of 2026 and had eliminated all of the “perks” from said package. On one day of our stay, while at the resort pool, we watched a rat swim across the pool. A patron who was in the pool, used a personal drink floaty to give the rat a “ride” to the edge of the pool. The rat then ran on the ground around the pool bar, only for a staff member at the pool bar to beat it with a broom until it was dead, then sweep it off into the weeds. We noticed, along with other patrons, that tipping the staff did not grant us better service. Rather, the overall customer service was awful. On multiple occasions when walking up to the pool bar, guest services counter, lobby bar, check-in counter, there would be several staff members behind the counter/bar, they would see me/us, but would not come help serve for whatever need we may have. They failed to even greet us when they saw us standing there waiting for service. Their conversation would continue with one another, joking back and forth, completely walking away from the bar/counter, then after the one person who was serving someone would finish with a previous customer, then we would finally get some help. We found this to be a common issue with other patrons after speaking with them. This awful customer service continued when we arrived at our reservation time to the speciality restaurants. First off, the reservation system at this resort was an absolute joke. To get a reservation was a challenge in itself. Then when arriving at a restaurant that we did have a reservation for, to be sat and forgotten about for 20 minutes or longer, to have water glasses stay empty and have to hunt someone down to get a refill, to seeing on the menu that there are only 1 or 2 options for food, and if we wanted other options we would have to pay for them. When we first started looking to make reservations, on the morning of Saturday the 23rd, we found most of the restaurants were “booked” and did not have openings for us. We thought we would try our luck, and see if some of the restaurants that were booked, would maybe have room and still seat us. Yet upon arriving at 2 restaurants, which were practically empty, being turned away because we didn't have a reservation. We would have definitely understood had we arrived at a fully packed restaurant, but to show up and the place be practically empty, felt very discouraging. It came across to us as customers of this resort, that they like to show that they have all of these wonderful restaurants that we could enjoy as customers of their all inclusive resort, to only show them “booked” so no one could enjoy them. Another issue that arose while there, Wednesday the 27th, starting at 2am, the entire resort complex lost electricity. My wife and I immediately woke up when this happened. After approximately 30 minutes of no electricity, we attempted to call the guest services desk to find out what the issue was, only to find the room phone was dead. Also while the electricity was out, we went to use the restroom to find we had no water. The Wifi had stopped working during this time as well, so we had no form of communication with our cell phones or the internal phones. The doors having the wristband scanner to get into the room, we were not sure if they were electric as well, so the concern of leaving our room and being able to get back in became very real. We were unsure of how long being without electricity was going to last, without any way to charge our cell phones we avoided using them for the time the electricity was out. The electricity did come back on some time after 4am, but nothing was ever said or explained to us the next day or any day thereafter. On either the 26th or the 27th, we left our room and spent time down at the resort pool. I needed to return to our room to grab something, we had only been out of our room for approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours. I returned to our room to find the housekeeping staff had been there, which the only thing they did any time they came to our room was make the bed and replenish towels-no actual cleaning, and that our door was left 6”-8” open to the hallway. We had some valuables locked away in the safe, but other things were left out to charge and all of our clothes and other personal items were there available for anyone walking by to come in and take. On Sunday the 24th, we wanted to spend the day at the beach. We only spent a couple of hours there because we could not enjoy our time there due to the amount of aggressive sales attempts from people on the beach. We are unsure of who these people were affiliated with. It seemed to be every 5-10 minutes someone was coming by, aggressively trying to sell something. From cigars, to ankle bracelets, to foot massages, to pictures with monkeys, iguanas, parrots, etc… It was impossible to enjoy ourselves because we were constantly having to decline purchasing items, massages, or pictures. This deterred us from trying to spend any more time on the beach the rest of our stay. Having spoken to multiple people there at the resort from multiple states in the United States, as well as people from Canada, and England our experience of poor service and the rooms/interior being unclean was common throughout this resort. Many people told us this was the worst resort they had been to, and most of the people we spoke to said they would never return. This was supposed to be a great anniversary trip to celebrate our 12th year anniversary. However, this resort was so bad, and the customer service was so awful, and the facility was so unclean, and we didn't receive the items/discounts we were supposed to receive, it was a trip to remember for all the wrong reasons. Because of this, we will not return, I will be leaving a negative review, and we will be telling all of our friends and family about our experience to deter them from staying here. For the amount of money we spent for this trip, we expected better. Thank you for your time, Brandon and Rachael Turner
Far from beach, rooms were ok, had to ask for face clothes, 4 days later there they made bed but did not restock coffee or refrigerator. Beach was full of seaweed. Restaurants were a nightmare to try and book 10 days prior to coming. We were only able to book one as everything was already booked up upon arrival so we had to eat at buffet everyday which the food was just ok just what u would expect at a buffet. Entertainment was fun durning the day at pool, and night time was ok.
We had the most amazing experience at the Aquamarine. It was our first experience a Bahia Principe and loved every minute. The staff were so happy and kind and could not do enough for you - nothing was too much trouble. The only place we had an issue was in the Indian Thalia - the food was plain awful - we sat there for an hour with only water and then when they eventually took our order it came out cold and rock hard chicken! The staff in there were quite rude at times with not very helpful and would not return to that restaurant on our next visit! They were not even bothered that we walked out after recieving our main due to the quality of it being not good. Some of the staff went above and beyond like Issac and the staff in the buffet were always brilliant and helpful too. The accomidation was fine could do with a lick of pint but that didn't phase us as we spent little time in our rooms and they were really clean with a daily clean and change of towels. The majority of à la carte were fantastic food. The only bit of feedback was the entertainment programme could do with a two week rotation instead of one as if you come for a fortnight you same the exact same thing twice. Overall experience was brilliant we have already booked on our return for next year with family. Thankyou to all staff for making our stay fabulous and I would definately recommend the aquamarine - for what you pay it's amazing!!
Currently still on holiday, weather is sunny and really hot. Plenty of sunbeds to lie on all day round the pools . We mainly go by the quiet pool as it does get rather noisy when the entertainment team arrive. Room is nice we stayed in the more recently refurbished. Nice and spacious. Seperate shower and toilet in bathroom . Mattress a little too hard for our liking . Food is generally ok and there is lots to choose from . Although can be a little bit cold , there is a microwave to warm things up though. There are also lots of different restaurants you can book into and as many times as you like . We have eaten in the meat and the Greek and a la carte so far . All nice and less busy than the main restaurants but they do get booked up quite quickly. This is not a quiet hotel. The corridors can be quite noisy at night with slamming doors . This is not the fault of the hotel but the people who think its acceptable to shout in corridors at 3am in the morning . Given this is adults only I do struggle to understand the thought process of why an adult would do that . I appreciate its their vacation to but a little respect for other holiday makers wouldn't go a miss . We did venture over to the village , there are some shops for souvenirs but they are quite pricey . The shops in the hotel are also pricey but handy if you forget something as an emergency purchase. Pools are warm and refreshing . 20 mins from the airport . You can also use Ambar for some of the restraunts. This is a very big complex . There are regular buggys to take you where you need to go but if you enjoy a nice leisurely walk then it is only 10 mins walk to the beach . If you struggle with mobility issues I would advise to use a buggy . Staff, some members are quite polite and nice and some dont want to talk. Also some staff members can be quite nosiy when arriving for work in the early mornings , I can only presume they are exited to be in work and really love their job ? Beware of the mosquito bights bring your repellent and also make sure you bring high factor sun cream . All in all the holiday is OK. But we probably wouldn't come back to the aquamarine. We would however probably try the Ambar instead , seems more modern and seems less lively.
.
Beach is stunning only thing I loved about our holiday. Room: dated, bed hard yellow stains, bearable with a topper. Sockets loose in wall, toilet leaked, ironing board broken. It needs refurbishing. Room kept clean, cleaner was lovely Spa was beautiful massage was fantastic I don’t class coffee from a vending machine 5 star. I know you can go to another hotel to get coffee. Aquamarine hotel staff some were friendly but felt very unwelcome at our hotel all because one waiter took a dislike to my husband. I felt very uncomfortable, being pointed at as you walk by is intimidation and I do not expect that when I go away on holiday. Cups around the pool are not clean bring your own. We tipped all the time, some of the staff just don’t want to be at work! We have never experienced this any where else in the world. Buffet food was okay very average for a 5 star hotel. Staff always friendly in there. Lots of choice of restaurants the only one we liked was Nomad and that was because your food comes out hot.
My wife and I stayed 11 nights in May of 2026. This is a very nice 4 star resort. It's not a 5 star as its claimed to be. Property is very clean but showing some wear. Room also dated, yet it had all we needed. Our king pool view room was good size with seating area, and we liked having two sinks and shower stall in the bathroom. But rooms are due for a re-do. Liked that our arm band was the room key, so we did not have to carry a room key card. Room doors seem to swell due to humidity I suppose so had to slam door hard making a lot of noise to close. Beach was nice. They did a great job cleaning up the sea grass every morning. But there was not enough space on beach or umbrellas, so finding spots in the shade was difficult. Also, chairs were very close together, so when someone was smoking for example, you knew it. To get a good spot at the beach you needed to reserve with your towels by 6AM. Signs said reserving chars was not allowed but everyone did it, so you had to to get a chair. Pool was not as crowded as beach but still needed to reserve early if you want any shade. This was a huge resort with many other sections. Information was not clear what you could and could not use at other resort areas. Pools and beach areas were off limits at other Bahia resorts, but most restaurants could be booked. But wish they would provide written instructions for what is and is not available at the other resorts. Golf cart transportation was excellent, and drivers would go out of their way to help you, but I think we prefer a smaller resort where everything is walkable distance. Got old waiting for carts. In summary, I think we personally prefer smaller and more intimate resorts, plus we like seeing new places so it's not likely we'd go back here again.
Love the Bahia experience. Property is well maintained, food is excellent, staff are amazing. Trollies to take you around. So many things to do. Our room was a little outdated but my daughter and I had an amazing time. Our second time at the same resort.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I am going on every platform I can and letting future visitors know what goes on at this resort. My second day here, housekeeping stole my $180 perfume and my shampoo/conditioner. I made an incident report that night. It is now 5 days later and I am being told “we asked the workers and they said they don’t have it” Well of course if you ask someone if they stole something they are not going to admit to it and loose their job. They told me if it wasn’t locked up in the safe there isn’t anything they can do. They are completely fine with their housekeeping being thieves. I will NEVER EVER recommend this resort to ANYONE!
My 1st time to Punta Cana and this resort. It will be my last. I arrived today almost 2 hours ago and still sitting in an unair- conditioned lobby because even though I've shown them my reservation and they have confirmed I have one it doesn't show in their system. Until they can get it resolved they won't give me a room and they have no idea how long it will take. The concern and hospitality has been zero. Shame on Bahia.
We have been to Bahia Principe Punta Cana before, and this time we stayed at Escape Aquamarine—it was a wonderful experience. The restaurants offer fabulous food selections. Breakfast and lunch at the buffet had a great variety of choices. The beach was beautiful, with plenty of space to relax. A couple of days were rainy, and there was some seaweed on the beach, but it was cleaned up regularly. The rooms we had were a bit outdated, but staff were quick to fix anything when needed. Everyone was very helpful even if they didn’t speak English, they would find someone who did. Overall, it was good value for the money, and I would definitely recommend a stay at Aquamarine.
What a beautiful resort. A 5 for us. loved everything about this resort. Our rooms to the food to the staff, especially Coralina and Maria serving in the buffet and Juan in the pool area getting us our drinks. Beautiful well maintained resort. All employees were very helpful and pleasant. All in all a very lovely time at Aquamarine.
My wife and I stayed at Bahia Principe Aquamarine from April 16th to the 23rd, and after reading some negative reviews, I honestly don’t understand where they’re coming from. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, the service was exceptional. The food was consistently good, and the entertainment added to an already great experience. We stayed in Building 71, which was perfectly located—close to everything and very convenient. One highlight of our trip was renting a beach cabana at the Aquamarine beach for two days. It included wine, a fruit tray, and attentive service throughout the day, with ice always available for our drinks. I especially want to recognize Liciana at the beach. Her service was truly outstanding—friendly, attentive, and professional. She made our experience even more memorable. I sincerely hope her hard work and dedication lead her to a management position one day, because she absolutely deserves it. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would gladly return.
I spent two weeks at the resort for the seventh time. I would say some things are changing with Hyatt Resort now taking over the operation of the resort. I always request a lower floor in building 85. Upon arrival, they had me on the third floor, which my legs can not do. They suggested building 72103 for a temporary fix for the night, until they could see what would be available for building 85 the following day. Their is a lot of construction going on with buildings being gutted. Building 72 should be next, because no one should be given a room there. When the guests above have a shower, the water cMe through the ceiling dripping into the tub. The caulking is basically gone and the gaps are noticeable. The beds are like bricks. The balcony looks onto the construction. No one who paid good money should have to endure any nights there period. I got out the next day thank God. Thank you to Wagnor at the front desk !!! I stuck to the buffet as my go to. It never disappoints. The food is very good. The soup is amazing. The staff is so warm and will assist in any desire to accommodate your needs. A shout out to Germain & Ulyssa who are always so nice. Kudos to the rest of the staff. The Sports Bar offers an amazing cheeseburger and chicken wings. The playoffs are on and 🏒 is a must. The staff is very warm and welcoming there. To the gardeners who work tirelessly on keeping the grounds maintained ... you are truly amazing. A huge task but they always get the job done. The tram system which transports guests to different locations is excellent. Sometimes there is a language barrier misunderstanding, which is understandable. I would like to do a shout out to LEO who saved me after being kicked off a tram in the middle of the resort, trying to get to the front gate to go golfing. I had surgery on the leg and can not walk too far without limping. Leo, your amazing. The entertaining staff are truly the spoon the stirs the pot. They go from 11am till 12pm. They have unreal stamina. 👏 They interact with all the guests. They encourage everyone to get involved. Kudos to you 👏 I heard a complaint from another guest regarding a topper for their bed. They have back issues and put in a request while originally booking their trip. They are a returning guest. They never did get the topper. They may not come back as they enjoy a good night's sleep. To all the Belle Provance guests who think their stay is more important than other guests. Get a life. Find an island where you can all go to. Merci buckets. All in all, a good stay.
Had a great stay here the buffets are good, the rooms are nice and big the beach was beautiful and well kept. Our cleaning lady Ignacia was very good and kept the room clean I also want to mention Carolina too who was good too!
Everything was good. There are a number of cats. They are so sweet and friendly. We brought cat food, but sadly, not enough. I wish the hotel took care of them - they don’t even have fresh water. These sweet kitties should be cared for, they are friendly, and beautiful animals. One of the staff here told me that the hotel “gets rid of them”. I sincerely hope that is not true. If you love cars and are coming to this resort, please consider bringing some cat food for them. 🩷
We just came back from another amazing trip to Aquamarine. We have been between Aquamarine and Ambar many times in the past. We always liked the food at Aquamarine, but we noticed many improvements this time in both buffet as well as the grill around the pool. Many options on where to eat. The staff were amazing as always. The resort is very clean in lobby and hallways, etc. Our room was cleaned and stocked daily. Shout out to the cleaners. The entertainment at the pool was fun and engaging as always. Bartenders and servers were great, and we never had to wait for a drink. Washrooms beside the beach and pool were always clean while we were there. We ate at MEAT and the meal and drinks were great. We ate at Nikkei Mashua and there were some changes to the menu and no signature drinks this time, but it was very good. We ate at Rodizio and the food was great. If you do not like cats or have a fear of cats, you may want to go somewhere else. There are a lot of cats wandering around. I thought they were cute and they were not in any way bothering us on our trip but thought I would mention for someone who may not feel the same way. Trolleys to the beach or anywhere around the resort were plentiful and the drivers were amazing. Always a clean towel available at the exchange hut. Check in and out was fast. The Bahia app works perfectly while at the resort for booking a la carte and looking for what entertainment is happening that day, etc. Never an issue with the free wifi throughout the resort. My only critique would be adding a few more umbrellas around the the pool. They have added a lot more loungers so finding a seat was not an issue, but it gets really hot at the pool and a few more umbrellas would be perfect.
We just returned from a week at Aquamarine. This was our second trip, as part of a group of six. We were happy to see that Isaac was still part of the entertainment crew. He has a wonderful way of making everyone feel special. We added some new favourites, Lisianna at the pool, gave us fantastic service. She is so cheerful and hard working. I was very impressed. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. I love it when the Domincans say "welcome home" to us Punta Canadians. A few other highlights were Vianellis (I hope I spelled that right) from the entertainment staff, Ingris from Flamboyan, and German from the buffet. Thank you all for a wonderful week.
The Bahia Principe Aquamarine Punta Cana present a beautiful exterior and stands out for its overall cleanliness. The grounds are well-maintained at all times, and the outdoor facilities are pleasant, especially the pool and the beach, both of which are very attractive and inviting. However, several aspects significantly detracted from the overall experience. Upon arrival, the check-in process was extremely long. We were even asked for a $20 tip to get our room immediately; it was 2:30 PM, and check-in was at 3:00 PM. We refused, which was a rather disappointing first impression. The room had several shortcomings: no bedspread (only a sheet and a stained foot warmer), no washcloth, and a sofa with stained cushions. The number of electrical outlets was insufficient for charging electronic devices. On the balcony, the paint on the chairs is peeling, giving an impression of neglect. Furthermore, essential items are frequently missing from the room, such as washcloths, soap in the shower, or even Coffee Mate. The minibar is very poorly stocked with alcohol, containing only beer. Moreover, we constantly had to request that it be refilled. No snacks are offered, and only large bottles of water are provided, which is inconvenient. The lobby staff is unhelpful and rarely smiles. You often feel like you're bothering them, and basic greetings, like a hello or a smile, are rare. Making reservations at the a la carte restaurants is also problematic. The reservation website is unreliable, and it's often impossible to book or modify a reservation despite available tables. The staff on-site seem unwilling to help. Some restaurants, like Mashua and Rodizio, are disappointing: dry, tasteless food with bits of fat on the plate instead of meat. The dishes are lukewarm at best, and the service is unfriendly. The house wine is tasteless; it seemed diluted. As for the main buffet, it's large but offers nothing exceptional. The food is very ordinary, often lukewarm, and the accompanying sauces are never labeled. Canned fruit is available, but very little fresh fruit. The croissants and muffins, wrapped in damp plastic, give off a strong fishy odor, which is particularly unpleasant. The only positive point: the staff at the buffet reception are friendly. The resort doesn't offer enough umbrellas at the pool and beach. You have to get up very early to ensure you get chairs in the shade. In short, despite a beautiful and well-maintained resort, several shortcomings in service, room maintenance, and food quality detract from the experience. The Aquamarine is not a five-star resort and should not be marketed as such. Thank you.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. We stayed at Aquamarine Resort expecting a high-end, well-maintained property, but what we got was far from it. We specifically booked a room with two beds, assuming—based on how the resort presents itself—that we’d be placed in one of the renovated villas. Instead, we were assigned to Villa 71/72, which are clearly outdated and not up to the standard you’d expect for the price. It honestly felt misleading. If some villas are not renovated, that should be clearly disclosed before booking—not something guests find out after they arrive. To make matters worse, when we raised the issue, the customer service was extremely disappointing. The representative we spoke with was rude and dismissive, which only added to the frustration. For a resort that markets itself as luxury, this experience felt like a bait-and-switch. I would strongly recommend that future guests double-check exactly what room they are getting—and that management seriously addresses both the condition of these villas and the way guests are treated. Very disappointing overall.
We can't complain, our experience was amazing. Everyone at the resort was kind and helpful. We were there for our anniversary, and the staff ensured we had a great time, which we did. The resort is clean and well-maintained, and the food and activities were also excellent. Our room was impeccable. The location was great and had a stunning beach. I loved the fact that they had the "SHHH" signs, because people were respectful and there was zero noise outside our room.
“Can we sit here?” “Not unless you pay extra” “Can we get this?” “If you want to pay an absurd mark up” “Can we eat dinner at one of your à la carte restaurants that serves microwaved food and watered down wines?” “Absolutely” Staff was really nice. You’re not really getting access to a “resort,” but if you want to eat lots of buffet food and drink cheap liquor by a slightly scummy pool: go for it!
Aquamarine needs updating the Punta Cana section looks nice but it’s for people with children We’ve been to the resort of Bahia 11 times but we are ready for some place new
The cleanliness, the staff, the choices for food and drinks. Juan was our favorite at the pool! Liked the adults only area.
The rooms were very clean but could use updating. Our bed was fine but some others on our trip didn’t like them. It was also loud at night so you may want ear plugs.
Very nice resort for adults only. Getting old and will need some work done it. Food is good but not as good as the Ambar. Entertainment team is great.
The resort’s location is excellent. However, due to its large size and the fact that several resorts are combined into one complex, distances to restaurants and the beach can be quite long. The property is very clean, and the staff does a marvelous job keeping everything well maintained. The room was spacious but dated. Hot water was only available at certain times, and although there is a TV, there were no English-language channels at all. The bed was comfortable and definitely not too hard, despite what some other reviews have mentioned. My biggest issue was the strict separation between the different resorts. On the beach, guests are only allowed to stay in their designated section. On my first day, I was politely asked to move because I hadn’t noticed I was in the wrong area. Interestingly, on my second day, while I was in the Aquamarine beach section, a large group from another resort was sitting directly in front of me and was not asked to move, which felt inconsistent. The evening entertainment is quite diverse, but if you try to enjoy a performance at one of the other resorts, you are unable to get drinks or food, which is frustrating. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, but the quality varies significantly. While the Mongolian and Mashua restaurants were very good, the Meat restaurant was disappointing. The menu and food preparation there really need to be reconsidered. Service overall was good, though not exceptional. This was my first trip to Punta Cana, and next time I will likely choose a different, smaller resort.
This was our 14th trip to the BahiaPrincipe Chain. Well years ago we bought into the fact if you travelled 10 time to one of their resorts you were rewarded with a VIP braclet upon signing in a a guest. The bracelet just showed you were a frequent visitor and allowed you to go everywhere in the resort. Bars and restaurants. Most of the Privilage club carneys left you alone. Well this trip we were expecting the same treatment and we were extremly disapointed. This being our 14th trip and most trips we talked others into going with us. So without reservation I would say us and our groups have spent well in excess of $80,000 dollars over the years. Like I say we were Bahia junkies. Now this trip we were greated with uh no, no longer have VIP. So we began our vacation. First day at the beach we went to the restaurant by Amber at the beach. I must say we have eaten at ths restaurnat well over 20 times. This time while my wife was using the restroom I was greated by a rather unfriendly woman in charge and she kicked me out of the restaurant. Mind you she was considerate and let me finish. Imagine that getting kicked out a restaurant you visited many time. Everyone around our table heard this and it was rather emabrasing. So after a week we returned home wth a little disapointment. What the Bahia Principe Team needs to understand we along with many other help build your Empire by being LOYAL. Unfortunatly Bahia does not understand LOYALTY and they have shown us none. So would we come back to the BAHIA if the price was right probally but were looking around and were not commited to being LOYAL as no LOYALTY was shown back. So ae we get older and are going to be traveling more I just would like the Bahia Chain to know we are booking with my brother and sister inlaw at the JOIA PARASIO IBEROSTAR in the Myan Rivera, Mexico. 4 of us just under $20,000. So we as a very small group know we wont have that big of a dent in Bahia making money but we do have a say in where we send our money. And from here out after this trip we just might be IBEROSTAR fans. So over the course of the next 5 years Bahia by cancelling the VIP program you are loosing well over $100,000 bucks. Plus whomever does not go because of your treatment of guests well that not my problem. Most of the staff are extremly frienly but many things have changed and not for the better. Anyways thanks for the great memories..
The hotel has simple but spacious rooms, and the pool is huge. The buffet is well served and offers a good variety of food. The staff and attendants are very helpful and friendly. Another positive highlight is the Portofino restaurant, an Italian restaurant located inside the Bahia Principe Ambar hotel. The staff there are extremely helpful and friendly, and the food is delicious. The only downside is the beach. It is a bit far from the hotel, and you can only use the area designated for your hotel category, since there are other hotels from the same chain. When you arrive, sunbeds are already marked with towels even if no one is using them. The beach area reserved for the Aquamarine is very small and there is almost no shade. It is worth mentioning that the hotel offers a late checkout option of up to 5 hours, costing USD 10 per additional hour. Other than that, I have nothing else to point out about the hotel.
Nice resort, buffet food was good with a large selection. Pools were great. Entertainment was decent. Shop on line for excursions, I was not happy with AmStar excursions.
We left after one day! We upgraded and paid the difference to go to the BP Esmeralda….even thought it was not an adults only it was 100 times better than Aauamarine. Aquamarine is dated, moldy, run-down. Rooms smell horrible and are damp and wet. Staff are so incredibly rude….we felt like we had gone back to university days and getting the cheapest resort we could afford! They actually pointed to our building and said go to your room - no one to help at all! All “premium” alcohol (they consider cheap Canadian Club to be premium) and upcharge $9 USD a drink. It is a joke at this resort…..horrible!
Just got back from Punta Cana and stayed at the Bahia Principe Aquamarine. Overall, it was great. Few issues but none that would not make me come back. The resort is much bigger than what I am comfortable with but there is something for everyone. I would recommend block 80 for the rooms if you want to be close to pool, buffet and large lobby. There are lots of cats frolicking about but they leave you alone. Most are quite cute and friendly and seem pretty healthy! The staff are friendly, the rooms, hotel and grounds are very clean. The buffet food is awesome and has a great selection. The à la carte restaurants are very good - try the Mongolian which is new! We did wait over an hour for our table at Limbo and the service was mediocre. The service at the Mexican was terrible and very slow and the food was ok. The Beach restaurant which is the Mexican restaurant always appeared dirty at lunch and service was not good. Tipping is something that has been ingrained to receive better service in some areas and you might even be ignored which is not right. I only had pesos with me fir tipping which is fine. We took an excursion which I would not recommend. The Marinarium - not worth it. The bus was late, getting onto the boat took close to an hour for a half hour snorkel in very murky and crowded waters. ..saw NO sharks and one stingray. A tiny sandwich and some drinks and a waist deep swim which was to your neck and water was so murky! We went on the tour operator's suggestion - they should know!! Been on great excursions but this was not one of them! The weather is great and make sure you bring lots of sunscreen and bug spray for the evening!
This was my second trip to this resort, and we came back because we had enjoyed our first visit. This time, along with my boyfriend, I travelled with 2 sisters and a friend. Once again we had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect. The rooms were lovely. The service was great. This time we went to the resort spa for massages. Honestly, the massage was slightly cheaper than what I pay at home, and every bit as good. Sadly, I have a bone to pick with the TV. It went off completely for two and a half days. But besides that, we had a great time. I bought some larimar bracelets and earrings. Larimar is a beautiful pale blue stone found exclusively in the Dominican Republic. I haven’t taken my bracelet off since I put it on a month ago. My usual advice is to be generous with tips. We tip at home and we should tip wherever we get good service, and that’s the case here.
Buena bebidas. La buena atención del personal, amabilidad
Nada
This is my second time staying at this franchise. We stayed on the other side of the island last time. The a la carte restaurants in my opinion are absolutely amazing. I'm not a meat eater but I eat fish. It was always perfect. The ocean is amazing. Do not expect flat water because you're on the ocean side and there are waves coming into the shore. They are fun to experience. The grounds are maintained extremely well. Yes, there are a few mosquitoes here and there. They spray ecologically but not overdoing it. The buffet has a lot of variety and the quality was good. I started my trip off with a $10 tip at the check-in counter. The staff there was quite surprised and did everything to make sure we got the best room to meet our needs. Our overall experience was pleasant. There was nothing really negative about this place. It's a very big resort with seven hotels. They have carts to drive you around and they come quite frequently. You never have to wait more than 2 minutes or so.
The hard working friendly staff is what makes this place. The quality of service was excellent in the bars and restaurants. Never really noticed areas of dissatisfaction from other patrons. Everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying their vacation.Bars and restaurants were very accommodating to everyone. Have been to many all inclusives over the years and this one is one of the better ones. Only drawback is that it is a big resort but then there are many carts around to shuttle you to your destination for the day. Would go back and highly recommend.
Excellent experience at this resort. Been going there for 8 years. The a la cart meals are top shelf. One of the best beaches Ive been to
Location wasn’t too far, Atmosphere was energetic, Rooms were clean, water was hot A/C was perfect (could use an auto setting), outdated TVs, NO ELEVATOR to gain access to upper level rooms. Value was worth the cost. No problem with noise level. Service made a promise to change room location from first entry to room when there was no elevator found but was not resolved until the 3rd day at 430pm. Lots of amenities to choose from but lack of communication about all of them, and the sister properties and what they had to offer and what could be used at those properties. WiFi is bad so paper maps and menus would be a great addition.
Beautiful hotel. Lovely beaches. Fabulous pools. We spent 2 weeks here and had a wonderful time. Our room faced the pool and entertainment.centre so it was a little noisy but everything was quiet by 11 pm
Lo servicial de todos los empleados
We visited the Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine Nov 22 to Dec 4 with our three grown children and their spouses. The overall experience was very positive. Having stayed at this resort many times in the past, it once again met our expectations and impressed all. We have stayed at all the resorts with the Bahia complex except the Punta Cana, and Aquamarine remains our favourite. It is the best value, is clean and well kept, provides friendly customer service, decent amenities, plenty of activities and entertainment and tasty diverse food choices. The rooms are a nice size and well appointed though they have a tired feel and are in need of maintenance and or refurbishment. The cleaners did a great job and worked hard. Our AC worked fine, but expelled a lot of condensation. Bed was firm but comfy and there were lots of soft pillows. Water pressure was excellent with plenty of hot water always available. There is a whirlpool tub but we did not use it. We had a pool side view, which was great in the daytime but at night it was loud, therefore earplugs are recommended if you go to bed early. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. The vegetation is varied and lush. You always feel to be in a tropical garden, no matter what part of the Bahia complex you happen to be in. We mainly frequented the pools while there. There are three, side by side and a quiet spa pool. There were plenty of loungers, with some always available. They could use more umbrellas as most people seem to want shade and if you didn’t get up early, it was hit and miss if you’d get one. The water was usually quite clear and the temp was refreshing. They clean it well every morning. The bathrooms do get crowded at times, especially the ladies, and the dedicated cleaner seems to get overwhelmed. The entertainment team was super friendly and provided assorted fun activities at decent intervals. Isaac and Ray treated us like gold but they were all great. The pool bar offered a great choice of cocktails and service was typically quick, though by the afternoon, it slowed down as small crowds developed at both the stand up and swim up counters. The servers in the pool area were excellent and we used them frequently as they rarely disappointed. They were all great, Luciano, Juan, Yorky, and Aldolpho. Luciano kept us topped up and is the sweetest girl, often calling us mamy and papy. The lobby bar had a good choice of basic hard liquor. There was a fee for anything top shelf. The bartenders were typically very attentive, though in the evenings, a short wait was not unusual. There was another bar available in the tented entertainment area in the evenings. This was also the main smoking area. Servers did make their rounds but were sometimes slow with drinks, especially in the evenings. An assortment of coffee. beverages were available from two lobby coffee machines. The coffee station also had water, flavoured water and sweets. Be advised it doesn’t open until 0700. Front desk staff were generally very helpful and friendly. We found Mikey was great! He was courteous, helpful and spoke good English. There is a (shared) modern well equipped gym located between the resort and the Ambar. It has a good selection of free weights, machine weights, cardio machines and a stretching area. The beach area is beautiful, with the seaweed not being too bad during our visit. Any that is present is quickly cleaned up early in the morning. The water was rough at times but we were able to swim often. Watch for the colour of the flags because if the red flag is up, you really are taking a chance going in for a swim. As Privilege Club members we didn’t use the Aquamarine beach area so we can’t comment directly. The beach is a 5-10 min walk from the lobby, but carts are available. The beach house buffet is a crazy spot at lunchtime, therefore we always avoided it. The buffet offered plenty of delicious choices and never seemed overly crowded. There were stations for freshly cooked omelettes and fried eggs in the morning and for lunch and dinner they changed to pasta and meat stations. The greeters and wait staff were typically very attentive and polite. Smiles and trying a little Spanish on them went a long way and got you better service. Edwin was super friendly with us and always ensured we were well looked after during breakfast. They list four ala cartes restaurants for the resort, but we’ve only ever tried the gourmet restaurant, El Olivia next to the buffet. We like it and have always had great service there. Our favourite waiter, Edwin works there in the evening. There’s a Sports Bar too which is shared with the neighbouring Ambar resort. It’s only opened in the evenings, offers outdoor and indoor seating, has games, lots of TVs and pretty a good selection of tasty pub fare. There are a variety of evening shows with early lounge type entertainment typically available and then a more traditional show around 2100. Some samplings included a circus show, retro show, silent disco, karaoke and fire show. It’s not Vegas by no means but it’s decent resort type entertainment most will enjoy. We tipped well and the service we received reflected that. It’s of course a personal choice but the staff are very appreciative and count on it to supplement their meager wages. USD, DOP and CAD (bills only) are accepted, with USD being their favourite from our experience. We would recommend the BP Grand Aquamarine every time. It is our favourite within the Bahia complex. In fact, we have our next stay already reserved and we can’t wait.
Just finished another great vacation at the Aquamarine, service was great from check in to Buffets to pool bars and all the A la Cartes! All the staff were very pleasant and helpful! Our room was very clean and the mini bar was kept stocked. The property is beautiful, the rooms although very clean could use an update but certainly wouldn’t stop us from coming back!!
Well first I will get the bad part out of the way. We went with 2 other couples and we all had the same experience with the beds, they were the hardest I have ever tried to sleep on at a resort. We all looked to see if they forgot the mattress and it was just the box spring it was that hard. I have been to many resorts and this was the worst bed by far. Part 2 of negative was that none of our patio doors locked or had a bar on them, good thing it was 3rd floor. The check in was pretty quick and the bellboys were great as the took all our luggage up the 3 flights of stairs to our room (no elevators). The rooms were what we booked (Jr Suite) and they were fairly clean and had some items in mini bar. We were at the top of Aquamarine in the 84 area so not far from lobby. Tried 6 of the a la Carte (El Olivo, MEAT, Oriental Takara, Tequila, Portofino, Capricco) and they were all very good, we were not overly impressed with the beef at MEAT but I think our expectations might have been too high as it was good. The lemon dessert at Oriental Takara was outstanding. We did the buffet one night and it was very good with lots to pick from. One of the better breakfast buffets we have had with quality and selection. I will say the red wine quality from place to place was hit and miss, one night could not even drink it. Had no trouble getting places to sit at the beach or pool but doing it by 7am was usually the key to get a spot that had shade as well. A number of vendors on the beach but all you had to do was say no thank you and they kept going. We never used the servers on the beach or at the pool as it was good to get up and walk around a bit after those hard beds. The only thing that was confusing is we were told we could use all the pools but we tried to get a beer at the Ambar Pool bar and the bartender told us no and then him and his coworker laughed at us as we left, not cool. So where you could get a drink seemed hit and miss. Being many resort sections in that one area there was lots of areas for walking and the grounds were well maintained. Lots of cats around but none came up to us which was good. Signs said not to pat them but lots of people feeding them and even holding them and patting them so hope they did not catch anything off the cats. The check in lobby had a cashier where we were able to change out some of our larger Dominican Pesos for smaller bills for tipping. We took down some items for the housekeeping and it was the first time we had to fill out forms for what we gave them (crayons, colored pencils, etc). problem with that was the housekeeper had to find you so you could fill them out. Had a few nights the doors slamming woke me up but overall not too bad for noise. Never turned on the tv so no comments on that. Wifi worked well. Overall a great spot.
We love the DR, and we really enjoyed this resort. The food was great. We ate at the Steakhouse, Portofino, and the Japanese restaurants and would highly recommend them. The entire complex is huge, but easy to find your way around. The place is immaculate, and the staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and hard working. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are comfy. We had some minor issues with the plumbing and the AC, and both were fixed immediately. The beach is beautiful! We loved walking for hours in the sand, and there was never an issue getting a lounger. We highly recommend this resort!
Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine was an average experience. While we had a great pool side room, the room itself was dirty and old. It was in dire need of updating. The daily cleaning was not really "cleaning". There were many days that were not left with new towels, and the towels that were on the floor, were not cleaned up. The plumbing needs updating. The water was scalding, no matter which way we turned it. The shower dial needed to stay in a certain place for it to be tolerable, but you could not use the faucets, so we had to get creative with brushing our teeth and washing our faces/hands. The pool area had a great vibe and there were always pool chairs available. The pool bar was one of the highlights, but the entertainment was average. At one point, the staff came around with QR codes and would not leave until you left them a 5-star review, which I did not appreciate. We were there on a girls trip, so we made our own fun. The beach was beautiful, and even going at around 10 AM, we still managed to find beach chairs. There was barely any sargassum. The food was okay. Not the best, but not the worst. Overall, for a 4 day trip, it was not a bad stay. The experience is what you make it and we made the most of it.
DO NOT STAY HERE FOR ANY REASON!! I don’t know how this is classified anything more than a 2 star resort. BELIEVE ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS as they are an accurate representation of this place. We were treated horribly since we step foot on this property. I’m not sure if it’s because we’re American or African American but it’s absolutely wrong. Our money is green just like everyone else’s. TREATMENT: Restaurants- even though we were seated first, we were ALWAYS served last! We asked for our drinks and noticed on several occasions we were served after those of different races when they were seated after us and ordered the same drinks. Rock crab was on the buffet. We asked for crab crackers. The table beside us asked after us. Needless to say, that table received theirs and we were still waiting. We asked several times after. NOTHING! We then asked for a manager and bam, crab crackers appeared. We still wanted to speak to the manager. 20 minutes later the manager came. The manager lied and said they only had 2 crab crackers which was untrue because we saw them give them to 2 other tables, 1 table already had a pair and they brought us a pair. Bars- we were none existent there. They walk right past us and offer to serve others. The waitresses don’t ask if we care for a drink. We always had to go to the bar to be served and once there, we’re still over looked. Same when at the beach and the pool. ROOMS: Antiquated!! They definitely need a major makeover. The jacuzzi tub is filthy. The dirt is embedded as we bring cleaning supplies and ours couldn’t get it cleaned. Paint is chipping everywhere, the faucet and drains are rusted. The beds are extremely hard. We got better sleep in the lounge chairs at the pool and beach! There are thin sheets on the bed. You will need to turn the air off unless you will freeze throughout the night (we got clean beach/pool towels at the end of each day to use as blankets.) The water is extremely hot. There is no cold water and no water pressure. What mini bar? 1 orange soda, 1 Pepsi and 2 beers daily. That’s it! Pillows are flat. BARS: Bring your own alcohol. The stuff included is below hell. The bottom shelf liquor like Jim Beam is an additional fee. There is no cognac, bourbon or whiskey except in the lobby bar and it’s below bottom shelf liquor. The juice for mixed drinks are very concentrated. Therefore, the drink tastes NutraSweet! We drank champagne the majority of the time. RESTAURANTS: I’m almost scared to eat anything as the food at the buffet that’s supposed to be hot is less than room temperature. There is a variety but nothing seasoned. They have crab but no crab crackers. Some of the same food in the restaurants be on the buffet. If you plan to go to the restaurants, make reservations at least 2 weeks before you get there to get the selections you like. The best thing we eat in 5 days were hamburgers from the pool’s grill. POOL/BEACH: Pool filters were never on. There was a film on top of the water so we never got in. Beach is nice. However, the vendors are overbearing. Also, in order to get a decent place to sit, u have to be up at the crack of dawn as people bring their towels and belongings and leave them for hours to hold a chair. We sat all day and towels were on the seats beside us as the people came at almost 6 pm, gathered them and left. The resort personnel need to stop allowing this. PROPERTY: Overall well kept. However, cats are everywhere. Therefore, if you’re allergic, stay away from here. Mosquitos are HORRIBLE! They eat regular bug repellent. OVERALL: I do NOT recommend this property. I wouldn’t care if they offered a free vacation here, I’ll pass! Granted good customer service makes up for a lot but that’s missing as well. Trip type
Went with 3 friends. Booked through a travel agent and requested 2 rooms with 2 beds each. You need to remember this is a request and not guaranteed. We ended up with one room with 2 beds and one room with a king sized bed. Despite doing a check in from home, in person check in could have been smoother. The delay in part though was due to our group of 4 hoping for two rooms with 2 beds. Although check in is at 3pm, we finally checked in to our rooms at 5:30pm. Building 72 is a great location. Close to main lobby, buffet and pool. Over all quiet and not even a 5 minute walk to the beach. Doors difficult to close and close with a loud bang. Resort is extremely clean. Staff is very nice and friendly. Favorite a la carte restaurant, which were booked 10 days before departure, was MASHUA Nikkei Restaurant. Buffet was decent. The one by the beach is very busy. Staff do their best to clean the tables quickly. Beach and water were beautiful. A bit of sargassum but overall not a bother. Lots of chairs available at beach and pool. Although may not be in the shade. Bring DEET spray for bugs in the evening. The resort has a lot of cats. A little skittish but very clean and friendly. Bring cat treats! They love them.
This is our favorite resort in the Dominican Republic. One small portion of a much larger complex, getting around is very easy with shuttles running on a regular basis. Aquamarine is adults only and is an excellent way for a couple to relax and enjoy life in the sun. It is the staff which make this resort so enjoyable. They always have a smile and a pleasant attitude. Any problems are resolved immediately, day or night. They are there to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible. There are several al a carte resturants and making reservations is very easy. Food is excellent weither in the buffet or the specialty restaurants. A beautiful beach is only a short trolley ride away. Miguel Ramos (one of the concierges) is always there to help if needed, weither he is on shift or at home. On check in he has our Al a carte restaurants booked before we even get our room, in fact we even talk via the internet before our arrival to discuss our expectations. . Love this resort and the staff that work there.
Checked into room 85110. Dodgy light fitting on bedside lamp, broken iron, thumping music from next door hotel, very little water pressure from shower and taps offered thermonuclear temperature only. I asked about a replacement iron at reception, was told it would be swapped. 12 hours later, I tipped a maintenance guy to swap mine with another room... halfway through the week, had to swap rooms as water was running down the walls and pooling on the floor after aircon broke down...not a good start. Moved to room 72106, not to same aesthetic standard, but much quieter and better placed. Patio door lock broken, still no real water pressure, and only one sink... Food in buffet restaurant was mainly lukewarm, and with no plate warmers avaliable, it got colder quickly. Service was much better if you offered tips... Staff; brilliant, especially pool bar Juan, bar staff Andy and Eddy, Karina, Yulisa, Luis and others in buffet. Small mangrove area worth a look to see iguana, terrapins, fish and a variety of herons in a natural environment, Sports Bar only opens at 6pm which was disappointing, entertainment a bit lame, but white party and singers enjoyable. Transport around the site was good with electric buggies regularly stopping to pick up, beach was good (go left for adults only Aquamarine beach) but get there early or late for a shady sundowner otherwise you've got no chance... Pools good, clean but surrounding marble tiles very slippy when wet so tread carefully... grill food by pool mainly lukewarm, but if desperate, saves you leaving the pool for lunch. Would we return? No, but despite some rooms/areas looking tired, we enjoyed the holiday overall. Im sure there are better hotels, but I'm sure there are worse...
Everything was excellent!! The service, the drinks, restaurants, entertainment staff, room. It by far exceeded my expectations. I will return:)
