Not a huge hotel but feels like an extended home option. Close to everything.

This may sound odd, but the breakfast is quite a lot of food. Too much, so we used everything we didn’t eat for our lunch. So, actually we liked that very much!

The building and our room were lovely. Breakfast was fantastic, if pricy. The history of the building was well described in a brochure and very interesting. Location to see Utrecht and find meals was excellent, right next to the remaining medieval gate.

Cleaning service was very peculiar. I was told I could have a voucher for some wine instead of cleaning, which I initially accepted. My 92-year-old mother had an accident overnight and I handed back the voucher to request cleaning instead. They said they would have the room cleaned. I came back after seeing her off on her flight to find the soiled sheets bundled in a corner of the bathroom and her bed left unmade. The bathroom was not cleaned. The staff did not know she wasn't returning with me. When I told the staff what happened, someone came to collect the soiled sheets and left again with no other efforts or apologies. There was no offset on the bill either. It was strange. I'm not sure I would return although the property was very attractive.

Imaginatively designed with very comfortable rooms and bathrooms, as well as lovely friendly staff on hand too. Great location - just a few minutes walk from the station and just strolling around, so we could explore everywhere on foot at our own pace. The breakfast spread was incredible as was the added bonus of the little cafetiere/restaurant where we had lunch one day and afternoon tea the next. Hope to return one day!

In den Zimmern gab es kaum Ablagemöglichkeiten und keinen Schrank,wenn man längeren Aufenthalt hat,fehlt das schon sehr,da man ausschließlich aus dem Koffer lebt

Le confort était limite : bâtiment ancien, donc pas de clim… On peut le comprendre. Mais pas moyen non plus d’ouvrir la fenêtre car chambre au Rez de chaussée et tabatière très dure à bouger… De plus, chambre pas faite (oubliée ☹️)

Sehr hübsches Hotel in perfekter Lage. Liebevoll und passend zum historischen Gebäude eingerichtet. Praktische und komfortable Ausstattung. Sehr nettes Personal und tolles Frühstück. Direkt am Wasser gelegen und mit Blick auf die alte Mühle. Würden wir wieder buchen und empfehlen wir gerne weiter.

Tolle Lage im Zentrum von Leiden. Das Zimmer war modern und gemütlich eingerichtet. Sehr nette Mitarbeiter.

L'établissement ne permet pas de garer les vélos, un comble au Pays-Bas. Une chambre sous les toits sans climatisation. Du bruit dans la rue...

Die Lage ist zentral und gleichwohl ruhig. Das Hotel ist sehr geschmackvoll renoviert. Die Zimmer sind gross, sauber und gut ausgestattet. Das Personal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend; eine Person bei uns war krank, und das Reinigungsteam hat uns lieb geholfen. Auf vegane und vegetarische Speisewünsche wurde problemlos eingegangen. Parking im städtischen Parkhaus ist nicht billig (22eur/Tag) aber sehr angenehm und gleich um die Ecke.

Es ist ein historisches Gebäude, weshalb keine Klimaanlage vorhanden ist. Leider lassen sich deshalb manche Fenster auch nur knapp öffnen. Das Hotel gibt sich alle Mühe, die Situation angenehm zu machen, es stehen Ventilatoren und gratis Eis zur Verfügung, aber selbst bei mässigen Temperaturen draussen wird es sehr drückend und stickig in den Zimmern, was in unserem Fall sehr unangenehm war. Es gibt eine zentrale Selbstbedienungsbar, aber das wird schnell teuer. Ein Kühlschrank im Zimmer wäre eine grosse Hilfe gewesen. Das Frühstück ist unkonventionell, es ist kein Buffet sondern ein vorbereitetes grosses Brett mit viel Essen, das hingestellt wird. Für uns zu viel, wir haben es als eher unangenehm empfunden.

Charming place, well appointed rooms and cafe with friendly staff. Also very well located.

Convenient for the train station and in an ideal setting for exploring the historic centre. Excellent breakfasr served at the table and pleasant to sit outside adjacent to the canal and overlooked by a windmill. The building itself seems to be part of the city's history and thoghtfully converted.

Unfortunately no air conditioning in our room; however coolimg fan was supplied. Only one chair supplied.

De kamer was gezellig en schoon. Het personeel was vriendelijk en het ontbijt origineel en lekker. De ligging is ideaal.

Staff were helpful and pleasant, breakfast was very good. Close to train station.

The temperature was mid to low 80's when we were there. There were two fans in the attic style room to help with cooling. We had to keep the window open at night to try to cool the room. There was a restaurant below our room that was open late and was noisy, and because the attic style window had a shade inside of it, when it was open there was no way to darken the room. It may be quieter during the week. We were there on the weekend. It would be a much better stay when it wasn't so hot.

The room was so nice, very clean, and well maintained! The staff were all polite. Coffee and breakfast was delicious. This place was incredible and I highly recommend this to anyone.

Die Bettwäsche war dreckig! Selbst nach einem Wechsel wurden von uns erneut dunkle Flecken (??) im Laken entdeckt! Das Frühstück bot keine Abwechslung! Jeden Tag das gleiche Frühstück! Das Brot und die Brötchen waren von schlechter Qualität! Im Zimmer nur eine winzige Komode! Da wir eine komplette Woche zu Gast waren, haben wir überwiegend aus dem Koffer gelebt!

Perfect location, close to the station and the city centre.

The facilities and the room itself did not reflect the requested price, which was excessive compared to the accomodation and services. No fridge foreseen, no wardrobe included, no amenities included.

Location and modern design.

No storage in room for clothing (armoire, closet, drawers) which was annoying for 5 days. Minimal air circulation. No AC was expected and acceptable BUT even with the fan in our room the air was stifling. The common area was welcoming but absolutely an oven, again no air circulation and it was unavailable after 9:00pm which was very unfortunate.

Unfortunately the hotel has no private grounds, the surrounds are all public access land, walkways and restaurants and as it is a listed building it cannot have double glazing or air conditioning units fitted. In addition, less than 5m away from the bedrooms on the south side, is a children’s play area, a small wooden galleon, that can sometimes become a focal point for noisy youths late into the night and as the reception is not manned 24/7 there is no one on site to deal with any disturbances. Fortunately our stay was after the recent exceptional heatwave but even with moderate outside temperatures it was still quite warm in the bedroom, exacerbated no doubt by the large windows. I dread to think what the temperatures were like during said heatwave but the hotel did provide an electric fan and free ice pops at reception to mitigate the issue somewhat.

Alles was netjes en schoon. Perfecte ligging. Parkeren uitstekend. Personeel vriendelijk.

De douche-kraan gaf heet en koud water maar dan precies tegengesteld. Was niet even door het personeel doorgegeven. We hadden een kamer direct onder het dak, het was heel erg warm in de kamer. Er stond wel een mobile airco maar deze produceerde geen koele lucht. het enige dat ons restte was de ramen wijd open zetten maar er zaten helaas geen horren voor. En dat voor maar liefst € 195,- per nacht.

Spacious room with attractive dormer windows and exposed original beams. Pleasant sunny view of playground and windmill. The breakfast was generous and in a nice space. The hotel is close to everything but in a quiet area just outside the centre. It was an easy walk to the station

While we had a very comfortable stay in late April, with no air conditioning and facing south, it could be quite hot in summer.

La ubicación es perfecta, en el mismo centro de Leiden y a 5 minutos caminando de Leiden Central, la estación desde la que seguro llegarás a la ciudad. El hotel es muy bonito y está enfrente de un canal con unas casitas preciosas. Además tiene una pequeña terracita en una zona verde súper agradable. La habitación es muy correcta y tiene máquina de café.

Estuvimos un fin de semana extremadamente caluroso para la temperatura que suele hacer en Países Bajos. Por ese motivo, las habitaciones del Hotel no cuentan con aire acondicionado y, aunque durmiendo con la ventana abierta se estaba bien, como la habitación está a pie de calle y justo es una calle con bastante actividad por la noche, se oía bastante ruido, pero no es culpa del Hotel, simplemente algo a tener en cuenta si se viaja en verano o la previsión de temperatura es alta.

Brilliant position near city centre, but reasonably quiet. Room was not huge, but adequate. And beds were really comfortable.

Nothing, really, though bar might’ve stayed open a bit longer. And there might have been more breakfast choice. We didn’t want the huge breakfast plate every day and there were few alternatives.

Mooie locatie. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Dicht bij het centrum.

De locatie is alles wat je wil, 2 minuten lopen van het centrum, 1 minuut van een hele nette parkeergarage. De kamer zijn heel sfeervol, goed ingericht en proper. De service uitmuntend, niets meer en niets minder. Het personeel verdiend ieder schouderklopje denkbaar…..

Amazing setting in the prettiest corner of Leiden.

It was cold and the army barrack decor is a bit sparse…

It was clean, incredibly comfortable and has great, friendly staff. It is located close to the train station - handy for day trips to Amsterdam, The Hague and other interesting cities. It is located a pleasant walk from restaurants and shops.

Breakfast was a bit expensive though very tasty and large enough that we didn’t need to have lunch!

Heel vriendelijke service, perfecte plek om Leiden te bezoeken, pittoresk gebouw. Uitgebreide lunch: lekker!

Kluis zat op slot, meisje wist niet wat ze daaraan kon doen. Erg rumoerig rondom het gebouw met dronkemansherrie. Vooral ‘s nachts vervelend wanneer je het raam open wilt laten staan. Veel verslaafden in de buurt.

Fabulously repurposed old army barracks. The breakfast was beautifully presented on individual platters. It was more than welcome wanted to eat so, not wishing to be wasteful, we shared a breakfast the following mornings. We were given a drinks voucher because we didn't want housekeeping services and there were free ice lollies available for guests.

It was a bit noisy with guests arriving late and students chatting late into the night in the children's play area outside our window. Car parking was an extra €22 per day but it was nearby and very secure.

Het is op een mooie plek en je loopt makkelijk de stad in. Voor het hotel is een klein parkje, aan de andere kant staat de mooie Morschpoort. De parkeergarage is aan de overkant, vlakbij. Het hotel heeft een knusse authentieke sfeer. Ik vond onze kamer fijn en licht, het was netjes en schoon. Voor ons hondje lag er een dekentje klaar en was er een waterbak en wat snack. We kregen waterflesjes wat fijn was want het was heel warm. Het ontbijt was leuk! Lekkere koffie en verschillend lekkers om te eten aan tafel geserveerd op een mooie plank.

Everyone we dealt with was welcoming friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tge beds very comfortable. The ambiance of the hotel was very relaxed and pleasant. The location, 5 or 6 minutes from the station and on the edge of the City centre was excellent. It was generally very quiet at night although one of our party had a problem with noise from late night stragglers on the first (Friday) night. The coffees in the room were very good and the breakfasts enormous and excellent.

There was nowhere to unpack our clothes in our first floor twin room, just a few wire coat hangers behind a beam. The lighting in the bathroom was very dim. There was nowhere to sit other than in the cafe or our rooms if we were in during wet weather.

Easy check-in and helpful staff. Room exceeded expectations - it was large and clean and great decor. Loved a free drink at the bar. Felt safe and very central.

There was no fridge in the room, would have been nice.

Breakfast was very tasty and lots of it. It was served on a tray at our table. Coffee was very good. Staff all very helpful. Area to sit outside the hotel to enjoy a drink. Hotel was in a very good position to explore the town, it was a short walk to the train station to travel to Amsterdam and across the road from the carpark.

This hotel was lovely, very clean and beautifully designed. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed being within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in Leiden which was a plus.

Due to the location it was very noisy outside, even in the middle of the night. We had read reviews so had expected that but it was worse than we had anticipated.

Kein geschützter Abstellplatz für Räder (wir brachten sie dann am Bahnhof in ein Fahrradparkhaus), Frühstück wurde am Tisch serviert, Buffet wäre sinnvoller gewesen ( zu viele Reste), nachts leider viel Lärm an der Oude Morsch vor dem Hotel.

This boutique hotel is perfectly situated to explore Leiden and is located next to the canal, historic city gate and the Park de Put windmill- it’s very picturesque! It’s also just under a 10 minute walk from the central station and close to a multi-storey car park- very convenient! The hotel is tastefully decorated and room 14 was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was superb- a selection of breads and croissants with meats and cheese, as well as yogurt, fruit and granola, small pieces of cake and boiled egg- great for a big appetite! We also enjoyed drinks and a snack platter on the terrace in the afternoon sunshine while watching passing boats on the canal! Receiving a token for free drinks at the bar for skipping a room clean is a nice touch, there is also an honesty bar for drinks after the hotel bar has closed at 9pm. There are plenty of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes within easy walking distance. This was our first visit to Leiden and we loved it and cannot recommend the city and hotel enough! We will be back!

The room could have had a little more storage and there is noise from the square outside of an evening- but to be expected in a vibrant and busy city like Leiden!

Très bel hôtel, moderne, bien placé, des boissons offertes si vous choisissez de renoncer à ce qu'on vous fasse la chambre entre vos deux nuits, un super petit déjeuner, et du personnel très agréable et serviable.

Aurait mérité d'être légèrement mieux insonorisé en week-end quand les fêtards du bar d'à côté décident de prolonger la soirée et un réfrigérateur pour ceux qui comme moi ont un traitement à maintenir au frais, mais à part ça, rien à redire.

Tolle historische Location mit modernen Zimmern. Gutes aber preisintensives Frühstück.

Wir wurden gefragt, ob wir auf den Zimmerservice verzichten und als Gegenleistung einen Gutschein für die Bar bekommen möchten. Dieses Angebot haben haben wir angenommen. Allerding wurde das nicht konsequent vom Hotel für jeden Tag ohne Zimmerservice umgesetzt, sondern nur einmalig gewährt. Eine Anrechnung auf das Frühstück war nicht möglich.

Location was excellent. Beds were comfortable and water was hot for the shower. Liked the history of the place. Staff were all pleasant.

See through glass bathrooms are terrible. No privacy when sharing a room. There is noise between rooms - Not just the banging of shower doors but we can hear neighbors blow their nose or cough. Soap products were watery and not sudsy at all. Bathroom had very little counter space for getting ready at the mirror.
