Lake Villa Resort

Heel vriendelijk personeel.

We checked into Lake Villa Resort on a Saturday and overall had a very pleasant stay. A couple of us initially stayed in the tree houses, but as they were a little old, we requested a room change. The staff were very accommodating and upgraded us to a family room at no additional charge, which we really appreciated. The family room was spacious, comfortable, and well suited for our group. One of the highlights of the property is the location. When you sit outside, you get a lovely breeze coming from the nearby lake, making it a great place to relax and unwind. We also had breakfast at the resort on both days, and the Sri Lankan breakfast was absolutely delicious. We literally wiped everything clean! They were also happy to accommodate our preferences, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Spacious rooms, good food, a beautiful lakeside breeze, and very accommodating staff made it a great weekend getaway. Would definitely consider staying here again.

The only minor downside is that the road leading to the property can be a bit tricky, especially towards the end. However, once you arrive, everything else is quite good.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very welcoming, cheerful and extremely friendly. Check-in was quick and easy. The kids especially loved the swimming pool and were very excited to experience staying in a hotel in a completely different environment from what they are used to. Overall, it was a lovely and memorable experience for our family.

There were some insects in the bathroom. However, I don’t really blame the hotel or the insects, as this is their natural environment and we were the ones visiting it 😅

Super nice location next to the lake and in a well kept garden. Our family room was nice and spacious. The pool was really nice and clean!

The restaurant didn't quite meet our expectations.

This is a hidden gem and we are so glad to have found it! It is located right on the lakefront, and we enjoyed the view from our room and pool looking over the lake and watching crocodiles, birds and buffalo. The staff were just incredible and such an asset to the hotel. They organised our transfers to and from the hotel, and shared local treasures on the journey each way. If you are heading into Yala, please book their local driver at the National Park who was such a professional in finding and respecting animals - we saw 2 leopards along with so much wildlife.

Ruime kamer, zeer vriendelijk personeel, fijn zwembad, mooi uitzicht.

Ładny resort, z restauracją, basenem i miejscem do odpoczynku.

Niets.

Charming staff, thank you Inoshin. Stunning views and birdlife.⁸

Such a beautiful setting. Fantastic to swim in the pool with the lake in the background. They arranged a full day safari for us and provided packed breakfast. What a wonderful day that was. The staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

We stayed in a treehouse which was not a problem for us but you need to be fit and able to get up the stairs.

food was OK

there was no internet , no wifi in the room , and no tv in the room

Super emplacement dans la nature !

Service long

Lovely staff, especially the chef and driver. Unforgetable views to the lake. Everything is clean. They offered me vegetarian options and I had an amazing big and tasty breakfast at the unique scenery of the lake. The safari I booked with the hotel was well organized. Loved the animals around the location.Thank you all so much !

I really enjoyed everything during my stay. If I may suggest a few improvements, I would recommend providing a hairdryer in the bathroom. Additionally, it would be great to equip the windows in the stone house with either proper mosquito screens or plexiglass, so guests can enjoy the light and the view without mosquitoes coming inside.

Bra mat i restauranten

Niets

There are many animals here, which makes it very suitable for a relaxing vacation. The waiters are all very friendly.

Location magica

Non molto curata nei dettagli

Nice view and great staff

The room was musty, and the linen stained and looked dirty. Restaurant wasn't great either. I had a bike so I went to Tissa for food mostly.

Staff were very friendly and decent. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Lights was not enough in the room

Geweldige familie plek!

Slaapplek zag er fantastisch uit.

Really helpful and nice staff. Good place to watch birds. Good location for safari Much value for money!

The pool is small and with broken tiles that gives cuts. A bit run down - but staff is doing their very best. Though the address is Tissamaharama we ended up paying 3.000 ekstra for the pick up by Yalas Safari-people because the hotel was too far away.

Restful & quiet location by Lake Tissa. Stayed in the treehouse which was very comfortable. Staff very helpful in arranging safari & giving advice about buses.

Unfortunately the quality of the meals needs improving. Also very limited vegetarian options. Myself & other guests travelled 3kms to a nearby restaurant rather than dine in the restaurant. Pool water greenish colour & needs more frequent cleaning.

We really enjoyed our stay here - the staff were amazing, super friendly and helped us in any way they could. The room was spacious, had a fridge and kettle and was really clean. The shower was warm and the bed was comfortable. The WiFi was also very good. We sat on the balcony for a few hours watching the sun set and the wildlife and it was so peaceful. The staff also helped us with booking the Yala national park safari and even paid for a tuktuk to the bus station. Our driver for the Yala safari was brilliant. He shared information on the animals we saw, which he brilliantly spotted and many times we questioned how he saw it! He was very friendly and created a warm environment.

Only staff

Stay was quite disappointed with the experience, especially with the tree house accommodation. The tree houses are not recommended – they were full of insects, lacked space, and clearly needed better maintenance. Hygiene was questionable, which made the stay uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the AC broke down on the first night and we had to move rooms – a major inconvenience. The pool was smelly and uninviting, with stray dogs roaming around the area, which made it feel poorly maintained and unhygienic. Overall, this place really needs to improve in terms of cleanliness, maintenance, and guest comfort. Would not return or recommend to others unless major improvements are made.

Nice location, nice pool

Kindness of the people really helpful with booking safari and taxi. The rooms were really comfortable and a very good location.

Nothing

Location. Calm and quite

we moved here from another property which was not good and we're so surprised by how beautiful and quiet the setting was, the room s big and very comfortable, a great pool overlooking the lake with a huge amount of wildlife on lovely restaurant. staff were effortless at helping and as always in sri lanka very happy. Unbelievably cheap priced rooms for a massively good value stay!

Resort was womderful. We enjoyed the pool and lovely people with delicious food..

Beautiful location, elephant bathing in the lake. 45 minute drive from the National Park.

The staff were very good nothing was too much trouble. The setting was stunning so a little isolated, food was good

As last minute booking a lot of steps up to our tree house but we managed ( staff prepared to bring up breakfast if requested)

The location was great for our safari in Yala which the hotel organised, it was very easy and great value for money. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with Sumilya helping us sort our dodgy Tuktuk out. The food at the restaurant was good too, perfect place to stay for a Yala safari.

Our room was fronting the lake. We saw many colourful birds, a crocodile, an eagle and some buffalos - it was very impressive (don't worry there is a fence between the lake and the hotel)! Loved the staff who were extremely friendly from the welcoming drink, food serving, to driving us all the way to Ella (I would definitely recommend using their taxi service as we also had optional stops to see a dam, drink coconuts and visit a famous waterfall)! Safari was excellent. We booked a private tour with them and our guide (Nipona) was helpful passionate and very knowledgeable. Saw lots of animals and ... (solely thanks to Nipona's tracking and knowledge of the deer's alarm call) we spotted a leopard ! I'm sure you could get cheaper tours elsewhere but this was well worth the price and glad we went with them!

Can too much food be a problem? Portion sizes for the rice and noodles are very generous! Good to wear a jumper for the 4.30 am start to the safari.

Everything was great! I do wish the restaurant had more vegetarian and vegan options. Will book again if visiting

Pool and space were great.

Behind on maintenance, ' If you do your loundry here, they throw everything in the dryer....

The place was nice, the room was also nice, could be a little be cleaner but was ok for us. The pool was enjoyable. Nothing bad to say about the place

This property was perfect, we turned up in the early afternoon and the staff there were able to organise a safari that afternoon for us on about 20mins notice. The rooms were very spacious and the pool with the view of the lake is incredible. We were also staying here the day that Sri Lanka lost power and we didn’t notice as the resort had the generators running the whole time. This place would be a bargain at twice the price

It was perfect

Wonderful and helpful staff, delicious food good size portions and variety. Views of the lagoon and so much wildlife. We did 2 safaris arranged by the hotel, yala national park and bundala bird safari, both very enjoyable.

A little disappointed the treehouse room we booked didn't have a view of the lagoon but the room was excellent, comfortable and clean. And you can see the lagoon from the pool, restaurant and garden.

Had a brilliant stay at Lake Villa Resort. A beautiful location, great food, fabulous room and amazing experience. They were very attentive and helpful. We organised a safari through them and also they organised transport to our next destination. Would highly recommend

The property was in the area we wanted to be, although isolated; the setting beside a lake was pleasant; the swimming pool was good; the manager was helpful and took our concerns seriously; and one meal of rice and curries was very good.

We had not appreciated that our "superior villa" was in fact a tree house up 20 steps. We had to take care to negotiate them. There were no instructions on how the shower worked - we had to get someone to show us as it was not obvious. Quality of the food was variable. Property is quite isolated so you need a car or to take taxis to get anywhere.

Warm welcome, and friendly, helpful staff. Took care of our park visits. Unique accommodation in the tree house made our visit memorable. Amazing location by the lake. Lo ely pool area. Can highly recommend.

Basic accommodation. Staff went out of their way to provide a cake for a family birthday celebration and were friendly and helpful. Nice food at the restaurant and close to safari experience. We were a family group of six adults. We had four different rooms and everyone had a slightly different experience but overall we had a good time here.

Expect the usual Luke warm / cold showers as some of the rooms are on solar so if there’s no sun the waters cold.

I enjoyed a two day stay due to a wedding weekend. Accommodation was good, staff were friendly and helpful?

Nothing to complain about.

It was a beautiful, serene setting, and the building designs were clever and fun. The staff were so helpful and diligent and our meals were excellent. Not too far to Yala Safari, and the pool was clean and so refreshing.

Sometimes no warm water, but this was not very important.

Villa house room close to Wirawila lake. Good breakfast and nice restaurant for dinner.

Great location on lake with nice pool and excellent staff. Amazing to have elephants and buffalo walking past on lake front

I loved the staff and I really liked how easy they made it to book the safari tour. They were so helpful and very kind. The property was right on a lake which was the perfect backdrop

The staff was attentive and friendly. They helped book a car to our next destination and the driver was very sweet.

Cockroaches, room is very old, furniture and equipment (a/c) are tired, pool has only room for 3 sets of guests, location is far from everything.

Clean, AC rooms. Friendly staff. Good restaurant that serves beer. Nice pool. You can see peacocks, buffaloes at the resort or nearby.

A little bit secluded but the resort felt like a little oasis in the middle of nowhere.

The beautiful peaceful setting was great. The staff were very helpful. We chose this place to go on a safari in Yala National Park and we enjoyed it. From this area doing safari is quite easy.

Nothing as such.

The staff was super friendly and was there to help in any situation. This accomodation is perfect if you want to relax and enjoy a very nice view. I can highly recomend this accomodation.

Everything was perfect

nothing

It's a nice place but it's away from everything so once you get there you're kind of stuck there. So basically you have to eat at their restaurant which was ok but there's nothing else nearby. The staff was very helpful they booked our safari and our taxi to nearby places. The stone house was nice and spacious but the tree houses are very small and no space to walk around in the room. So if you want a big spacious room book the stone houses not the tree house. Lots of walking space and garden and pool was nice. It does overlook the lake but lake is not so grand it's OK. But overall place was nice.

The tree house. Was really small. Also the place could use a little maintainance bit run down but otherwise all ok. Anyway we were there for the safari which was nice. So short stay it's fine.

what a beautiful place! The staff can’t do enough for you, facilities was amazing, they sorted yala safari for me even with such short notice. Ishan also arranged a boat safari on the lake the next morning. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! So much wildlife, turtles, birds, lizards and amazing pool! I would recommend bringing cash for the tour and hotel if you can, if not they do accept card at the hotel for a small charge.

Everything was perfect

This place was stunning. The stone room lofted over a lake made it feel like we had our own personal castle. The staff were so attentive and helpful, even offering to take photos for us. The room was spotlessly clean and felt so luxurious. We absolutely loved our stay here and wish we had longer.

Nothing!

Very nice location, near the lake. Nice pool with lake view. Very much nature, far away from the traffic fumes. Many birds, and squirrels. Lovely place.

price

food was expensive

Exellent Stay in Tissamaharama. Nice and very quite place. Clean room and nice view of the lake. They also have the nice pool. We get the dinner it was super. They packed our breakfast our next day morning .after the safari they arranged the taxi for us very reasonable price.everything was perfect .

Great lake views and we stayed for two days and they treated us very well.staff is really friendly .they help for us organize a safari tour and driver was really good we saw lot of animals including 2 leopards.we really enjoyed here.

We stay here for one night it was really nice place. Very nice and clean room. Very nice pool with lake view. Staff is very helpful . They arranged the nice safari tour for us. Everything perfect

Nothing

I stayed at Lake Villa Resort from 4th to 7th of July and it was a great experience. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. They even arranged a Yala safari for a very affordable price. The room was spacious and impeccably clean. We particularly enjoyed our time by the pool, which offered stunning views of the lake. The nights were peaceful and quiet, and with minimal light pollution, we were able to see an impressive display of stars. Overall, Lake Villa Resort exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Breakfast is so delicious.

Very nice view of the lake .nice and clean pool . They organized the safari tour for us it is super experience for us.prices was very reasonable .

Nice and clean room with lake view. Delicious food. Staff is very friendly and they also have the grate safari tours in yala. We saw lot of animals including leopard ..everything was super
