Rooms are nice old hotel style rooms. Traditional furnishings in all areas.

The staff were polite and professional but far too busy leading to long waits for service and food in the restaurant, check in etc. Limited spaces in the car park.

The room was quite drab, and small, there was no lounge area apart from a small room on the first floor not very appealing

The bedroom smelt of a urinal, the bathroom attached had a awful smell the windows had anti bird spikes and were covered in piles of rubbish and the bathroom window had all toilet paper on them and awful experience if it was not for the sister hotel the swan sorting this experience out and going above and beyond we would have had nowhere to stay

The bedrooms were tired - in need of a re-fresh. The views were not great - looking out onto untidy roof areas.

Lovely rooms, a bit dated but lovely furniture, very homely feel, nice shower. The food is EXCELLENT. Had a delicious breakfast (Turkish eggs) and even better lunch. Nice sitting room as well. Parking very convenient too. Very comfortable bed, really perfect pillows.

It could have a bit of a spruce up. Staff were friendly but there is a b&b feel to it, rather than fancy hotel.

The room was spectacular. We stayed in room 4 which was the suite and had a separate bath and shower as well as a living room.

The pillows are little too soft and flat for me but I still managed to sleep with no problem

The room was large, very clean and had everything we required. Breakfast was delicious.

One lady at breakfast was pleasant however when my friend asked for something that had been removed from the breakfast buffet, although she honoured the request, it was with some reluctance. I value excellent customer service and this was below my expectations.

Good welcome upon arrival. Staff were attentive when called upon.

We had to wait for staff, a few times when eating our evening meal each night. Plenty of staff, but twice we had to call someone over to take our order, then clear the table & pay the bill.

Really liked the dining space, the staff were lovely and the breakfast was very refined.

The room was in the attic - it was so hot and had no air conditioning. In the middle of a heatwave this wasn't super pleasant. It was very expensive in August so didn't feel like very good value but I'm sure if you went off season it would feel a bit more well priced.

Conveniently located right in the centre. Very good staff, clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast and very cute bar at the rear of the hotel.

Check out on a Saturday is 10.30am which I feel is too early, all hotels seem to be 11am or midday in some cases so I feel this could be reviewed seeing as the cost to stay here isn’t cheap.

Very good location with under cover parking. Breakfast was included in the price and was spot on. My wife is a chef and it definitely had her vote which is very rare. We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel and would thoroughly recommend it.

I liked it’s location. It is a comfortable hotel and my room and bathroom were a good size. The dining facilities were good-space between tables so that you felt comfortable when dining alone.

We stay at the Crown every year and love the location and town centre parking. A fan was provided in the room which helped at night. Breakfast is always very good.

On the Sunday night of our stay, we walked into the back bar for a coffee and whisky at 9.15pm only to be told that the coffee machine was switched off!

Seagulls extremely noisy. Not totals fault. Breakfast menu wasn’t to my taste. I’m intolerant to eggs hate porridge and kippers and not much choice otherwise.

The hotel is situated on the High street in the centre of Southwold. Parking is available at the rear of the hotel and we managed to find a space each day we were there. Bedroom was light and airy with 2 very comfortable easy chairs in the room which was a bonus. We spent quite a lot of time in the evenings with a drink watching the World Cup or Wimbledon in the comfort of our bedroom!! Breakfast is served to order and was delicious. Varied choice including full English or several other options all made to order.

There is no lift in the hotel and the stairs are very steep so its not good for people with limited mobility. We ate in the restaurant on one evening but were not impressed. Overly priced for fairly mediocre food.

Great central location and good parking- the room was well laid out with good storage - powerful shower. Generously stocked tea tray and filtered water kept topped up. A friendly welcome when we checked in

The room size was fine for a couple of nights but might have felt cramped on a longer stay. Inevitable for the seaside location but a lot of seagull noise. We were going to have a glass of wine after coming back from a meal but were told we would have to go in the small back bar so went somewhere else. It was a little expensive considering we didn’t have breakfast included.

The suite was large and very comfortable, just right for our 55th wedding anniversary stay. Dinner was great and the breakfast was plentiful. All the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, especially the lady in reception.

The carpet in the suite was quite worn near the door and entrance to the bedroom. One night wasn't enough!

Delicious breakfast and the roast lamb for dinner was cooked perfectly 👌 Regarding the room it was very spacious clean and tastefully decorated

The hotel looked rather tired and in need of some refurbishment. The carpet in our bedroom was threadbare in some places and much of the paintwork was flaking off and looked quite dirty.

The location was perfect. The hotel has customer parking which was brilliant. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The cooked breakfasts were lovely. The room was comfortable and the shower was powerful.

The continental breakfast was a little lacking. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but that is subjective.

Everything was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and wedding anniversary which was acknowledged by The Crown with a complimentary glass of bubbly with our meal in the evening.

Our room was lovely but there was a small side window in our bedroom we couldn't leave open due to the smell from the small flat roof. Seagulls had a nest with a baby that they were feeding which created a smell like a chicken run. Not the fault of the hotel we did tell them and once the baby leaves they will clean the area. they were pleased we pointed it out to them

Das Zimmer war wie auf den Fotos. Wirklich sehr schön und sauber. Das Personal war nett und es gab kostenlose Parkplätze. Es ist mitten in Southwold, umgeben von Cafés und Läden. Auch der Strand ist nicht weit. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Man hätte vielleicht einen Sessel weglassen können, damit man etwas mehr Bewegungsfreiheit hat. Aber das ist Meckern auf hohem Niveau.

Seagull noise was obviously on the roof but we were supplied with sleeping masks and earplugs. Nice touch.

Lovely staff and great food & beer! Restaurant was very understanding of my wife’s food intolerances. Perfect locaton to explore the beautiful seaside town. Free covered carpark at the rear of the hotel.

A beautiful room and very comfortable bed in characterful surroundings. The food in the restaurant was fresh, simple and perfectly cooked, A great central location for exploring Southwold - everything is in walking distance of the hotel.

The treads on the stairs are very narrow, so need to take care walking up and down!

The hotel was in a good position and breakfast was lovely.

We did not sleep well! Our room needed dark curtains. It was light before 4am and this made it difficult to sleep. (Eye masks were provided but unpleasant to use.) We could hear people moving around upstairs and in the corridor during the night.

3 flights of stairs for my 79yr old Mum to the room wasn’t ideal. The side bath panel was rotten and didn’t look very nice which should be an easy fix.

Breakfast was excellent my husband had the best he ever tasted porridge made with cream and honey. Sausages, bacon was good quality as was everything. Staff are lovely too. Room was smaller than we had before, but was well planned out and adequate. Water was nice and hot in shower. Bed and pillows comfortable.

The room and bathroom were large with a king size bed and also a seating area with a small table.The decor was lovely. The room was very clean. I appreciated the magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The shower was an over the bath one but the water pressure was extremely high. We had dinner on one occasion which was very good with attentive staff. Breakfast was also very good with various hot choices but quite a small selection of cold items . The staff were very pleasant and helpful. There was a small guest lounge.

Staff were friendly and efficient, especially reception. Food was excellent. Location was brilliant. Everything was clean and our room was always done by the time we returned from breakfast .Our room size was generous . The general atmosphere of the place was very welcoming.

Breakfast choices in terms of fruit and pastries were a bit limited and it would be nice to have smoked salmon as an option. The room was fine when we were there; it was unseasonably cold and although the heating wasn't on, the room was very warm It would be difficult to stay there in hot weather
