The Hotel location was good, staff was friendly and the room was comfortable

​The linen needs to be replaced. Additionally, we ordered a packed breakfast the day before for an early 6:00 AM safari, but it was mistakenly given to another guest due to poor communication between reception and the restaurant. This caused a delay of over 45 minutes to our morning schedule.

Apart from its location being 10 minutes drive to the Udawallawe safari , the hotel has a spacious vicinity to walk about.

The staff are not warm. No basic manners towards guest. The rooms are dated, The bathrooms are horrid, extremelt stained tiles, Very old & used. Its unkept. The f&b leaves much to be desired. The stay was fortunately for 1 night only , we were happy to check out early and leave.

O hotel está envolvido em muita natureza, o que o torna num espaço agradável. Fomos bem recebidos à chegada pelos funcionários.

Apesar da arquitetura bonita e de toda a vegetação bonita ao redor, podia ser mais luminoso. Nos locais mais fechados havia pouco luz artificial a compensar a pouca entrada de luz, o que é pena. O pequeno almoço não era muito bom.

Friendly staff and close to safari

No airco at restaurant. No extras... Good TV to watch sports and have a beer, no entertainment for kids besides a large pool.. No gym Very isolated No view and no animals

Very unfinished and tired. The whole place needs to be updated. The food was mediocre (buffet dinner).

Room was big and bed comfortable, nice hotel grounds. Staff nice

The food at the restaurant was not nice. We had to send two plates of food back. I wouldn’t recommend eating here. Packed breakfast in the morning was ok

A very friendly welcome, very generously sized, immaculately clean rooms with comfortable beds and great bathroom facilities. Delicious breakfast with a wide selection for all tastes. The staff were lovely and the hotel is set in beautiful grounds close to the safari points. Highly recommend

Nothing out stay was fabulous

A great retreat if wanting to safari in Sri Lanka. Nestled away in the jungle, there is lots of wildlife to see, even from your room. Great service and delicious food.

Beautiful grounds in a great location. Restaurant, bar and reception staff were wonderful.

Rooms (in particular the bathrooms) are a bit dated and in need of refreshed design and upgrades.

Did not have the air conditioned dining room for us. Only on last day when there were European guests, they turned it on. Only fan service for us though everyone paid the same. Close to elephant feeding centre and the dam. Half an hour to Safari. Please leave early for safari as time is wasted on the way.

It's a big but very outdated resort. Staff was was friendly and nice. Food not a great buffet with running out food. This place has seen it's hay days before, but large rooms, good service and location

The location and the staff are very good. Highlights is the monkeys and peacock. The spa looks basic but the ayurvedic massage was really nice and relaxing.

The breakfast and dinner buffet are quite average. The pancakes, French toast were all cold as they were made n kept. The à la carte menu for lunch/dinner is great and tasty.

Gut um Affen zu beobachten und recht nah am Udawalawe Park. Der Pool ist schön eingebettet im Dschungel.

Leider ist alles recht veraltet und abgenutzt und es Bedarf intensiver Erneuerung

The surroundings of the property were amazing. We were upgraded to a suite which was a lovely surprise.

The food in the restaurant was very poor. We are not a picky bunch but all our lunches were dreadful. Breakfast, was lacking in fruit as it had not been replenished, I had an omelette which was lacking in items such as tomatoes. I requested more as I had 2 very small pieces added and was told there was no more. My daughter and husband also had omelette La which were basically 2 eggs.

Nous avons séjourné 2 nuits au Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort lors de notre passage pour visiter le parc national. L’hôtel est très spacieux et situé dans un environnement calme, proche du parc, ce qui est pratique pour partir en safari tôt le matin. Durant notre séjour, il y avait très peu de résidents, ce qui rendait l’atmosphère particulièrement paisible. Les chambres sont grandes et confortables. On sent que l’établissement a dû être très beau et impressionnant il y a une vingtaine d’années, avec de beaux volumes et une architecture agréable. Toutefois, les chambres mériteraient aujourd’hui un petit rafraîchissement pour être plus modernes. Le séjour reste agréable grâce au calme de l’hôtel, même si la climatisation, un peu vieillissante, peut être assez bruyante pour dormir... Dans l’ensemble, c’est une bonne base pour explorer le parc d’Udawalawe, surtout si l’on recherche un endroit tranquille pour se prélasser au bord de la piscine après un safari.

The place is tired and needs modernising which makes it not good value for money. It is dark and the WiFi is terrible. Light switches were complicated Bathrooms tired and they need to use limescale remover. They were clean. The staff’s English was not great and this is fine but they should use Google translate, when I did it was revolutionary ! Noisy air conditioning It was dark - in rooms, out of rooms, corridors, by the pool etc.

En general el hotel está bien! Cuenta con buenas piezas y una buena piscina. Pero si genera más expectativas de las que creo que cumple.

En la pieza el baño no estaba 100% limpio y nuestro hodromasaje estaba roto.

We had such fun during our stay — feeding monkeys with their babies right from our balcony, playing with ducks, riding the hotel’s bicycles, and strolling through nature while breathing in the fresh air. The staff were truly amazing, making us feel cared for every step of the way. Our room was spotless and beautifully kept, adding to the comfort of our stay. It was a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and kindness, and we left with hearts full of gratitude. We would love to come back again and relive these wonderful moments

Le lieu est formidable, proche du Safari, les chambres sont sublimes et très propres sans oublier le personnel qui est très gentil Très grande piscine, buffet copieux et facile de réserver un Safari avec la réception Des petits singes à regarder mais qui ne viennent pas au contact donc ne craignez pas

Schön war der Stil und die schöne Außenanlage.

Das Wasser im Pool war stark gechlort und wirkte nicht gut gepflegt.

Sehr gutes Zimmer gebucht. Schön gelegen. Es kommen Reisegruppen zwecks Ausflug in den Nationalpark. Großes schönes Hotel. Essen gegenüber ist auch lecker. Alles gut.

Hôtel mal entretenu. Gros décalage entre les photos sur le site et la réalité. La rencontre avec des cafards dans la douche et la chambre nous a poussé à partir plus tôt.

Bit tight with the drinking water, asked for some at breakfast and informed it’s an extra….. it’s water!

Aller en face au restaurant familial The Spoon Massage: plaquette alléchante avec des massages très divers... résultat massage très moyen sans rapport avec la description . Prix prohibitif Safari : hors de prix sans aucun service supplémentaire par rapport au marché Airport drop : deux fois plus cher qu'avec un opérateur local Clairement sans charme, minimaliste pour la gamme visée, services beaucoup trop chers

L’établissement est bien placé et a du charme, mais le service ne suit pas. Nous sommes restés 2 nuits et la chambre n’a pas été faite malgré nos deux demandes

Flies in the breakfast room though all food were protected from them

We had a suite with separate bedroom, lounge and bathroom The room was exceptional, the bed was one of the most comfortable that we’ve ever slept in. The monkeys that roamed the grounds were a constant source of entertainment

Some of the decking around the bar area was rotted and collapsed when one of our party sat on his chair, this area desperately needs replacing

- Royal Suite ist sehr groß und hat alles, was man braucht - schöne Poollandschaft - tolle Lage, um eine Safari zu machen - wir haben viele kostenlose Getränke und Früchte aufs Zimmer bekommen

- Modernisierungsgrad - Gym ist sehr rudimentär - Safari, die das Hotel anbietet, ist vergleichsweise sehr teuer - im Restaurant gibt es kaum vegetarische Speisen à la carte - im Restaurant sind durch die offene Architektur sehr viele Mücken, gegen die nichts unternommen wird - WIFI nicht stabil

The location and the staff was great. It was close to safari and everyone was willing to help.

The bathroom are quite old and we didn't enjoy the brekfast.

The food was not great, we went to dinner at 1945 and found the majority of food trays at the buffet empty and they weren’t replenished. The vegetarian choices weren’t great either and drink service was incredibly slow

Bathroom shower screen was not clean and the toilet leaked. Buffet was over priced for what you got.

Best place to stay if planning safari in Udalawawe nature park or visit elephants in Pnnawala.

Was a bit crowded in the restaurant, restaurant in other building. We got a bit wet on the way as it was raining.

Overall the stay was fine. It's a good location and the staff were helpful when it came to booking our safari tour.

We organised 2 massages through the hotel reception which were charged to the room. One of the massages was very uncomfortable as the masseuse was inappropriate and didn't show the normal discretion and privacy that you would expect from a massage, I explained these issues to reception when we were checking out, they didn't really want to know and offered no apology or understanding. They proceeded to charge for both massages, when I questioned this I was told that I would need to take it up with the spa as they are separate from the hotel. At a 5 star hotel I would expect any issues to be dealt with by reception and not to have them send me elsewhere in the property - especially as we booked through reception.

The property was obviously once a grand hotel but it is quite tired in places. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable but tired in several areas.

Wir hatten 2 Zimmer gebucht und meine Tochter hat ein Update in die President Suite bekommen, die sehr schön war.

Wie in allen Unterkünften, die ich bisher in Sri Lanka hatte, wurde auch hier nicht unter dem Bett gekehrt oder gewischt. Hatten eine lebendige Kakerlake und eine tote im Zimmer. Auch eine in der President Suite.

Resort perfetto, in mezzo alla natura, rilassante! La Sig. ra della SPA molto brava a fare i massaggi, se vi volete rilassare consiglio di farvi lasciare l’elenco con tutti i massaggi disponibili! Ristorante a buffet molto fornito e buono! Personale davvero cordiale e gentile

Wonderful property with a great restaurant. The included breakfast was exceptional and the staff were very helpful in organising a safari for us. The other amenities, both the in room ones and the pool were fantastic.

The spa smelt heavily of mildew and the rooms could’ve been cleaned with a greater attention to detail (e.g., there were dead flies behind the curtain)

Good location with ease for safaris and elephant transit. Staff were very helpful and friendly. They organised our safari for us. We liked the monkeys at the front- they were not aggressive.

Lots of mosquitoes in the rooms- we were bitten a lot. A mosquito net around the bed might help. The food at the restaurant à la carte menu was not pleasant.

Location, but evening time nothing to eat nearby, everything is closed after 11pm, even grocery stores

Das Hotel wirkt insgesamt etwas in die Jahre gekommen, ist aber dennoch sauber und ordentlich. • Essen: Die Auswahl am Buffet und auf der À-la-carte-Karte war groß, das Essen insgesamt gut – auch wenn wir auf unserer Reise schon bessere kulinarische Erlebnisse hatten. • Lage: Für Safaris ist die Lage ideal. Kein Wunder, dass viele Reisegruppen hier einen Zwischenstopp einlegen. • Pool & Ambiente: Der Pool ist eigentlich schön angelegt, wirkt jedoch – wie das restliche Hotel – ein wenig lieblos und könnte mehr Pflege und Atmosphäre vertragen. .

Alles in allem ein solides Hotel mit praktischer Lage für Safari-Ausflüge, aber ohne besonderen Charme.

Best buffet out of all the places we visited. Good amenities and facilities. Room was clean and comfortable. Also really liked the proximity the national park.
