Perfect location. Great staff. Restaurant good.
The menu was excellent and the dinners were great. The menu offered enough choice for us to try something different every night if we were there for a fortnight. We especially loved the scallops and the Cullen skink.
The breakfast menu is a bit limited for nowadays but what we had was very good.
Breakfast menu was tasty and a good variety of choices available. Room was very comfortable, if a little small ( only because we were in one of the loft rooms :D ) Overall the atmosphere in the Crown made for a relaxing and informal time
Nothing at all - the price of the ferry from home to get across 12 miles of water :)
Everything was fine. Staff were exceptional.
I struggled a little bit with the stairs
"My stay at the Crown Hotel in Portpatrick was a wonderful experience. Portpatrick itself is absolutely stunning—the town is like something straight out of a postcard. The hotel did not disappoint; my room was very clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had an awesome view to wake up to. What truly made the stay special, however, was the staff—they were the best and so welcoming. As a solo traveler, the only slight challenge I encountered was navigating the stairs with my suitcase, which was a bit difficult for me. Aside from that, it was a fantastic visit, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful coastal getaway."
Location, food staff good.
Room was ok but. Camp ceiling would have troubled a dwarf. Im 6'1". Carpets on stairs to room were filthy.
Lovely comfortable bed. Great views. Food is delicious . Staff are so professional and hard working.
Rooms could do with a coat of paint. If you like sleeping before midnight at the weekend, take a pair of earplugs. Entertainment in the pub can be noisy.
Ideal location on the front and very friendly and helpful staff , good was also delicious
There is nothing to not like a about this place
Friendly staff, good food and a comfortable room.
All the staff were very friendly. Nothing was too much for them to keep us happy with our stay. The food was splendid and very generous.
Nothing
Staff were excellent
It was very convenient for visiting the town
Bedroom was small with a huge bed they had a huge chair under the dresser that was difficult to move
The location is perfect. The pub style downstairs is matched with a fine restaurant and top class hotel facilities upstairs. Staff were all excellent. Standard of food in the restaurant, breakfast and dinner, was exceptional and good value.
We had to take a family room which had an extra bed we did not need, this made the room feel a bit cramped. But only a minor inconvenience, the accommodation was generally faultless,
Staff very welcoming and frthroyghout the stay. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast.
Great location and good breakfast!
Both hotel and room in need of total refurbishment. Old unpleasant smells. Bar food very average, fish and chips (clearly just deep fried from frozen) disappointing particularly given location.
The dinner choices were excellent and good value. Breakfast was a bit mixed with a limited cold menu but an excellent cooked breakfast.
The room and bathroom were small and a tight fit for two. Only one bedside table which is annoying. The bathroom extract was not working on arrival and was unable to be fixed before we left. Staff were excellent and friendly.
Good location. Room was ok for a one nighter. Food was nice.
Only thing was we were waiting ages for one member of staff to know what to do with us when we checked in but think they might’ve been new
Location and staff
The Bar and the restaurant area look a bit tired
Excellent location in a beautiful little village. No parking on-site, but pretty easy to find parking on the street. Big comfortable bed. Décor a little tired, but nice and clean. Great breakfast options, and very helpful staff.
Our room was directly over the pub, and with live music on Friday and Saturday nights it was quite loud. They did finish right on the dot of midnight, so not a major concern, just something to be aware of if you want an early night.
Location, food, friendly staff, large comfortable bed.
Bed was large but room was small. OK for 1 night.
Great location by the harbour, comfy room with space and a view. Friendly folks running the place. Good stop over for exploring locally with sensational local cliff walks and countryside.
If you were sensitive to pub punters outside till 11pm then they might bother you but it wasn’t an overall issue. Parking easily found locally but not directly next to the hotel.
Position for the town
Room: Bed headboard shelf on the wrong side/ not required so bed was up against the wall: Tv in a stupid position
Excellent stay 👌
Im not a fan of smelly dogs when I'm eating my dinner inside. l
Great location and staff could not have been more helpful. Very old property but charming setting and well maintained
Location
Clean rooms, welcoming staff. All needs met. Lovely generous breakfast. Outstanding location.
Nothing
The breakfast was very nice. The staff were lovely. The bed was very comfy. The location was excellent. The toiletries were fantastic. The room was very clean.
We could hear the entertainment from downstairs but it wasn't unbearably loud.
Everything, especially the staff, the food and the location
The bend in the stairs going up to the room. Another handle to hold for old pensioners like me ( 89yrs )
Staff friendly. Nice location on the harbour front.
all a little dated, including the decor and the furniture in the restaurant. Menu was all pre-printed and unchanged. I was hopeful of a few more fresh fish options, given its proximity to the harbour. That said, all the pubs/restaurants in PortPatrick suffer from the same, and this one is probably the best of them.
Great harbourside location, friendly staff and great food.
There was nothing we did not like

Lovely location on seafront and very good food and menu choice. Some traditional music in the bar area provided after dinner.
Lovely hotel, very clean, reasonable prices. Great view from the room.
Not a thing.
Location and view, excellent breakfast, and food in general, staff very friendly

Great location free parking lovely hotel great quality and choice of food comfortable room
Room 4 has a loud extractor fan straight outside the window
Breakfast was great and staff fab. Brilliant big bed and fantastic view.
Evening meal awful and didn’t eat much. Burger bun fell apart and chips hard. Overpriced and despite complaining to waitress nothing was done. Really disappointed. Bathroom cleanliness not great. Entertainment dire and we had to leave.
Location on harbourfront was perfect. Street parking was not an issue but I imagine it was all timing as the town was fairly busy (it was a weekend). Staff were great, breakfast was good. It is an old building, so as expected it was a bit dated, but it was clean. Bathroom had been updated and was very spacious. We had an 'attic' room, so getting around the side of the bed was okay but if one was on the tall side.....

The location is excellent on the seaside. There was free car parking directly opposite the hotel. All the staff were super. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious.
As relatively fit 70 year olds this was not too much of a detriment but the room was up 2 flights of stairs with a unusual step arrangement between them. Someone with poor mobility or eyesight may have a problem
Excellent couple of nights away, pleasant staff good food & banter. Will definitely be returning.

Shower was really low pressure. One and only gripe.
Friendly staff and location
Room was in the attic which was tight but was fine for an overnight stay .
Was good time thank you
The weather
Staff were brilliant. Situation. View
Dinner. Mould in shower. Stains on carpet
Breakfast was good also had dinner in the restaurant the 2 nights we were staying food was great
Very good breakfast, good pub food. Old building so slightly cramped room, but clean with an exceptionally comfortable bed. Seafront location excellent. Enjoyed the sunshine and views at the outside tables.
Mysig fiskeby och charmig pub med hotell ovan.
Fantastic view from the bedroom
Beer 🍺 garden at the back needs a bit of tender loving care and a spruce up with Hanging baskets etc as a suggestion
Location is fantastic, but downside is noise till late in evening.
Breakfast could be better in the 21st century, grapefruit segments is something from the 60/70’s.

Couldn't fault where it was and the view from the room was stunning.
The grumpy lady who seemed put out because we sat at the wrong table for breakfast, she was annoyed having to move the cutlery and had a dig at us.
Meals good. Lovely breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
Decor a bit tired.
Great location Clean Nice staff

Location. Friendly staff
It felt rather run down and needed a deep clean.
It’s a fantastic location with great food and a large comfortable room with sea view.
I wish I’d booked a longer trip. I was sorry to leave.
Hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly
Food was excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly!! Thank you.
Essentially rooms above a pub/ restaurant but the rooms were exceptionally quiet at night so that wasn't a problem. The reception is essentially the bar which I found charming. The room was on the small side but might be because the bed is so large which is a plus. It was enough for two nights and we loved the bed. Breakfast was okay, you ordered to the table. Not for vegans, though - the only vegan items on the menu were the tomatoes and mushrooms from the Scottish breakfast. The town is small and quiet. The location is beautiful and it's right at the sea front.
Our room window overlooked a small graveyard. This was not in the pictures and not in the ad on booking. I did ask to change when I got there and realised but it was too late and they were fully booked, the only other room available, they said, has the same view. It may well not be a problem for many people, some may even like it, but it is not for everyone and it really should be more transparent. Wouldn't be a problem for someone who booked the sea front view I suppose. The shower pressure was really low. You could switch between the normal shower and the overhead shower, but the overhead shower essentially had 4 small streaks of water coming out so we never used it.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, food was nice.
Everything was fine. 👍
I liked the position of the hotel and the view from the room
The hotel needs upgrading.Carpets old, scratched bedroom furniture, poor lighting and water pressure in bathroom and silicon needing redone in shower. Two vegan mainmeals unexciting and no sweet so ate elsewhere inthe evening. No vegan breakfast, not even plant milk or spread fot toast. My husband who is not vegan had a full Scottish breakfast.I had dry toast, mushrooms and tomatoes. The hotel had asked us if there was any requests before arrival and they knew in advance that one of us was vegan.
Lovely friendly pub in a great location.
Everything was great.
I loved whole time breakfast great same as staff
outside area very busy but if go next door bit cheaper plus they sell Hawkstone lager and cider

The overall hotel is very tired Shower was not clean & old black mould on the silicon of the shower base
Great food, pleasant staff and a good pub.
location great. Excellent pub and plenty of seating in the restaurant if you couldnt get a table in the bar. Room clean and shower room. Shower good. Roof lie-ins in the bedroom made the room smaller but good side window let in plenty air.
A bit slow on the breakfast, last day we grabbed cereal and juice as were time constrained and only saw a member of staff as we left the dining room
Excellent location. Free parking nearby. Good food Great shower and view from room
Room very small. As it was attic room the sloping roof made the appearance and feel much smaller. Wouldnt suit a tall couple
Location on the harbour front
Place is dated and needs a refurbishment, windows and internal glass needs cleaned and all tables are sticky and need degreasing.
The staff were lovely, very pleasant and helpful We loved the location of the hotel, overlooking the harbor, beach . The menu for evening meals was fabulous, we ate there twice and had absolutely no complaints , the food was delicious.
Not really a dislike, we liked very much ! Would have been nicer with a bigger room . But we had a king sized bed, which was very comfortable
Location is excellent as was breakfast, dinner and lovely staff.
The property overall is excellent, however room 10 was an awkward shape as in you couldn’t walk round the bed due to the shape of the ceiling. Fine for us, however not good if our older parents were with us.
We had a very comfortable, clean room with a great view. Very good supper and breakfast. The staff were all very friendly.
Lovely helpful staff. Right on waterfront was awsome. Old pub with mana! Enjoyed our stay, would love to have stayed longer. Food was very good, lots of choice. Staff helped take bags up to rooms.
Nothing was lovely.
Friendly staff, fantastic food (including breakfast), perfect location.
We had an amazing view of the harbour from our room.

Had a meal last night, I had the braised steak and mushroom in a large Yorkshire pudding which is absolutely loaded with steak and mushroom and vegetables in a lovely gravy accompanied by chips which was gorgeous, the steak was fantastic, my wife had the cod in breadcrumbs with salad and chips and said it was the best cod she had had in years. Pleasant staff added to a lovely evening. Would highly recommend.
location; excellent breakfast and dining
Room just above the pub on Friday and Saturday night!! - Very noisy until midnight, band, karaoke . Other nights were fine, quieted down quickly.
Good food, clean room, friendly staff
Good food, room and staff so what more do you need. The location was great with a great view of the sea. Will be returning.
Food, room and staff
Friendly staff throughout our stay room was clean and fresh with and absolutely brilliant shower good food and even better full Scottish breakfast
It’s a bit dated but still clean and welcoming and wouldn’t put us off

Quaint and the location in portpatrick
Good value for money with friendly staff. Ideal location with excellent sea views.
Rooms need an update.
Called for a drink and were given the warmest of welcomes. Quaint little bar area and great menu. Food looked fab but we were booked at our accommodation. Next time at Port Patrick we will definitely visit the Crown Hotel. Definitely worth a visit.
Exceptional breakfast. Nice bar facilities and great atmosphere.
bar staff could have been more engaging to enhance the experience. was a bit uncomfortable in bed but that happens often with me.
Didnt book which may have been a mistake. However got a table straight away. Entertained by a load of old blokes. Food spot on. Great location. Staff spot on.
location was perfect, the food was a cut above the rest
bar area was quite small for the amount of people coming in to eat
Food and service was top class.
While our room had everything we needed, Room 10 required a degree of physical fitness and agility to be given top marks!
Lovely friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable for a one night stay. Peaceful harbour setting ( early June midweek ) Would stay again and would recommend Food very good fresh and local Price good
The view over the harbour was amazing, and the room, while small, was extremely comfy. The hotel has a pub/restaurant, and the food there (breakfast included) was very tasty! The staff were all helpful and pleasant, and helped us with everything we needed. Portpatrick, and the entire region, is very pretty, it's a good idea to go explore the surroundings. My suggestion: go to Wigtown, Scotland's national book town.
The room was on the second floor with tight stairs, so beware if you have mobility issues.
Nice quiet location and staff
