Perfect room lovely armchairs to sit on when looking over the harbour

Surprised by the fantastic views of the town and the harbour from our bedroom and the hotel's public rooms.

Das Zimmer war gross. Wir haben ein Upgrade mit Balkon erhalten, ohne, dass wir danach gefragt haben. Gute Matraze und Kissen. Tolle Aussicht auf die Bucht. Sehr freundliches Personal.

Ein kleiner Kühlschrank wäre nett gewesen. Porrige zum Frühstück hat gefehlt.

We had a lovely welcome from Martin on arrival. Very friendky and welcoming. He even gave our dog some treats and we got a room upgrade. Jane in the restaurant was lovely too.

The relaxed atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. The friendliness of all the staff while staying professional. Thank you to all of you for your perfect manners and service. The meals are exceptional in the restaurant. I recommend the slow braised beef featherblade. Prices aren't too bad, just what you would expect to pay. We stayed in room 6. Room was large, amazing sea and village view , which we enjoyed a great deal,, watching the world go by. It wasn't top of the range furniture, however the chairs at the window were super comfy and the bed was perfect. Like a step back in time. Everything was spotlessly clean. Plenty of storage for those, like us, who overpack. We enjoyed it that much we are planning on returning with other family members next year.

I can honestly say the only niggles I have, one, The shower. Steaming hot, fantastic, however as the shower head faces the shower curtain, the force of the water opens the curtain and it soaks the floors in the bathroom. Pity the shower couldn't be turned around to face the wall. Could save a nasty accident happening. Two, the entrance door to the room was very loud when trying to close it.as I said, these were just niggles and it would not stop me rebooking at all. Thank you again for an amazing stay ! See you next summer !

Lovely setting with great views. Friendly helpful staff... Special mention to Rosie and Adam. Nice choice for dinner and breakfast menus. A nice size room with a comfortable very big bed, and a private outside balcony with seating.

Everything is lovely at Fernhill. People will likely say the decor is outdated, and a bit untidy, but we feel it actually added to the charm.

Loved the location, the room was lovely, big and clean. The staff where friendly, helpful and very pleasant.

The room was a little chilly. The bathroom shower and shelf needed updating . It was expensive for what you got.

The room needed some maintenance

We have stayed here before a few times. We booked a few rooms for family, all rooms very comfortable, clean and had an amazing view. Staff very friendly, helpful and efficient ( as always.)

Not hotels fault but to give heads up for anyone with mobility issues there is a lot of stairs coming up from town centre.

Tape on the shower, wall paper peeling off, path next to balcony full of weeds, evening meal seemed like it wasn't freshly prepared, more like reheated factory made food

We’re put in the 4 roomed Annex adjacent to hotel was tight squeeze between the 2 buildings!.

Lovely elevated location with excellent sea views from our room and the restaurant. Very friendly staff - nothing too much trouble. Good food nicely presented and excellent breakfast with fresh local produce. Very comfortable and would highly recommend.

The views were amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful . We got checked in 3 hours before.

Rooms were a little tired

Our room was large, with a generous bathroom too. Fabulous view of the harbour from our room and two armchairs to sit in and enjoy it.

Apart from my caesar salad the food was very average. Halloumi fries were the frozen variety. My two poached eggs were overcooked and served on just one small slice of bread. The staff pointed out we were the last ones down for breakfast (9am and breakfast is from 7.30 - 9.30). A 10% service charge was added to our dinner bill.

Stayed in room 15. Junior suite. Absolutely amazing. Room size and comfort would be difficult to beat. Beautiful views from the leather chairs. Stunning.

Even with the windows open. The room was warm. I asked at reception if there were any fans. Unfortunately no fans provided. Perhaps this could be an option to consider?

Problème d électricité dans la chambre qui n a pas permis à mon conjoint de se préparer à 4h du matin sereinement pour le départ de sa course la race accross scotland qui démarrait à 6h pour 350 kilomètres. Gros stress sur le moment ! Et aucune remise sur les repas ou petit déjeuners !!

Staff accommodating and friendly. The room is clean and comfortable. Food was served hot and was delicious. Fabulous views over the harbour.

Hotel is up on a hill with great views but our room only looked out onto a roof Room was a good size. Really enjoyed the breakfast and good variety. Short walk down to the Port.

The only thing that let the hotel down was the pillows. None of the two were firm and one I would have disposed of long time ago so for that reason I wouldn't stay there again as I had a terrible sleep.

Friendliness of all staff and quality of food. Location had excellent view over Luce Bay however very steep path to access the village.

The price charged for Villa Maria wine (over £10 for medium glass). All other alcoholic drinks were reasonable priced.

Our room’s bathroom was very small and in need of some tlc. Paint was peeling off the walls and it was very small.

We had room with a sea view, the breakfast was great, big comfy bed.

We stayed for several days here and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean & tidy albeit a bit tired in some places but the views of the harbour were great. We had dinner at the hotel which was excellant i recommend the beef. Plenty of choice at Breakfast. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Plenty of parking and a 10 minute walk to the harbour. We would definetely recommend staying here. 😀

Emplacement exceptionnel au dessus d’un port charmant

My partner and I got married at Fernhill on the 1st of August 2026 and cannot thank Rosie enough for all of her hard work and dedication to making our day perfect. Not only for the day itself, but the whole planning and organising. She was so welcoming, friendly and organised which made the day go flawlessly. All of her staff were exceptional and the canapés, wedding breakfast and buffet were delicious. The views are spectacular and is such a picturesque setting. There are so many spaces to enjoy within the hotel and the junior suite we were staying in is stunning. All we have had is words of praise and admiration on the whole day and that is down to Rosie and her commitment to making our day so special. I would recommend anyone who is planning on getting married to contact Fernhill. Or even if anyone is looking for a break to portpatrick or meal out, it is truly fantastic.

A lovely hotel with fabulous views overlooking the harbour. Plenty of free parking. The room was large and clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was really good with lots of variety. We did not have dinner at the hotel but the menu looked very good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The bedroom we had, in the annexe, was large and comfortable but very dated. The shower was over the bath and had a shower curtain. I don't like shower curtains because they stick to you when you are showering (as they have to everyone else before you). Only one hand towel in the bathroom. I had to use this towel for drying my hair. The walk up to the hotel from the port is very steep.

The view was amazing. Food was excellent. Best liqueur coffee ever. (Irish) Staff were great. The peace and quiet was fantastic.

Our room needs a bit tlc. Towel rail and shelf rusting in bathroom. Electric towel rail was not working. Hair dryer was not working. No heating available to dry towels.

When you step through the front door you are met with the most wonderful view of Portpatrick and the sea. It was worth coming just to see that. The hotel is excellent as was our room. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine and then an evening meal in the restaurant. The breakfast too was really good. You can walk down to the shore very quickly and then return a little slower as it is steep. The staff are lovely and very helpful.

Our bathroom was perhaps the only weakness of our stay. The shower was over the bath and not up to scratch in present day expectations.

A relaxing few days, helpfull people who work there, clean room with a great view over the town and harbour.

Exceptional stay, great location, facilities exceeded all my expectations especiallt when room upgraded to one with a balcony.

The balconies are not private whatsoever, the brick dividers between them are small and you look next to you and your neighbour is there. Good for groups I guess. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, the haggis (I'm assuming it was haggis) was pure slop. Everything else was okay. and the toilet seat was broken in our room. Other than that it was good, The staff were friendly.
