Lighthouse Cottages

Beautiful spot! The cottage overall was very clean and nice however the pull out coach was dirty, lots of sand. No sheets or blankets for it so i gave my daughter the blankets from my bed to use as a sheet and blanket and i slept with the towels and my coat.

Clean, comfortable. Needs extra pillows and blankets. Beautiful view and location. Office not staffed after 6 pm or before 8:30 am

Beach was beautiful, staff very friendly, kitchen could use a few supplies like paper towel and a few garbage bags

Wonderful view, clean, comfortable and well-equipped cottage. Excellent bistro only a km or two away.

Beautiful view of the beach. Easy walk to the beach. Owners/staff very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Nice clean cabin.

These little cabins were perfect for us. Clean rooms, excellent customer service, the view was fantastic. Quiet and perfect!

Location, staff, cottage, amenities view and property all amazing.

Close walk to beach, sunset was beautiful from deck

The ocean view is stunning, absolutely amazing. The property is simple, clean and the host is terrific! We be back.

The owners were extremely accommodating. We arrived late and they had already closed their laundry room, but they open the laundry room and just told us to lock it up when we were finished.

Was a very enjoyable stay!

Lovely setting!

Beautiful views!! Clean comfortable cottage! Hot shower .

The owners of the cottages are lovely. There is no better view in Port Hood of the ocean and Port Island then the lighthouse cottages I would highly recommend staying there

Awesome location and wonderful welcoming hosts. Immaculate accomodations. Extremely well kept property. Would definitely return.

Hidden Gem! Everything about our stay was amazing. The views are out of this world and the beach is beautiful.

We loved everything about this property. It was quiet and relaxing, clean and inviting.

Had such a terrific time decide to stay an extra night. All staff were wonderful and the proximity to the beach was amazing for swimming and watching the sunset. Would definitely return!

Great location with a short walk down to Lawrence's Beach, which rarely had more than a dozen people on it. Great for nice walks. Cottage was compact, but had everything we needed. Good central location to explore the west side of Cape Breton. Steps to Ceilidh trail head.

What a great little cottage! Older but well cared for and clean. The view and beach access can’t be beat! This was one of our best beaches on our trip…it was a beautiful hot afternoon and we swam and played in the waves for a long time.

Right of the Cabot Trail, perfect view over the ocean.

Next time i will book for a week! Great place to get away really!

The cottage was small and dated but very clean. The view from the front porch was awesome! The property description online indicated that it was air conditioned - it was NOT. We had to sleep with the windows open and a fan. Not quite what we expected for the price we paid.

This little gem of a stay had fantastic views of the ocean. Great setup of outdoor seating including a bbq, Adirondack chairs and picnic table. The beach being so close was great for early morning walks and after dinner walks. Colin was wonderful in getting in touch for check in.

Great location great beach. Loved sitting out front watching the ocean. My only feedback would be for the price coffee should be supplied in the room.

Met me at the door with a smile and very friendly and helpful. Nice cottages

We had the best time. This cottage property is superb! Clean, comfy and beautiful views. The beach was an added bonus! Oliver was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We watched the Oilers pull out a win after an amazing day on the Cabot Trail. Win, win. We will be back!

Beautiful views! Very clean cottages with everything we needed.

access to a quiet beach, but mostly the kind and helpful proprietors, the Macdonalds. They are the best.

Our first time exploring Cape Breton and we made this our base for a few days. We were expecting it be rustic and it sure was - a real old-style beach cabin. The plumbing had a few issues but it delivered hot water no problem. The kitchen is the front entry so a bit crowded. Still, we had a great stay. The porch and picture window allows for great views of the sunset and lighthouses at night. Colin was very helpful with our reservation when we needed to make a change. It seemed a bit over-priced for what it was but in line with other properties in the area.

Great views! Wish we could have stayed longer!!

The staff and property is 10/10 , highly recommended

Great stay for my mom and I. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

We love this property. Beach view with a path taking you to a beautiful beach. Clean with everything you could need.

Very cute and cozy cottage with beach access. Cottage is well equipped. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We will be booking a longer stay next year.

Amazing property - ocean view and less than 2 minute walk to a secluded beach. Cabins are clean, well stocked and well kept. Hot water a plenty for showering. Thus is a hidden gem, two bedroom cottages, amazingly caring staff and it was just an enjoyable experience all round. 3 year old grandson was easily kept busy and loved the beach. We will be going back - again and again !!

The cottage was clean and had a fabulous view. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is laundry available. It is very quiet and peaceful. The tv channels are very limited and the couch was not very comfortable but the cottage had everything we needed during our 9 day stay. A good location to explore Cape Breton from. 30 minute drive to Inverness and Cabot golf courses.

Clean cabin with a very low sofa for a guy who’s 6ft 3in.fridge a bit noisy but all n all excellent

Lovely little cottage. 2 bedrooms. Beds were comfy. Nice view. Clean. Needs more electrical receptacles. Suggest a multi plug that has usb and c ports. TV is not a smart tv so bring your own Roku or AppleTV type device if you want to watch something. Would also suggest more wine glasses. I would absolutely stay again.

The cottage was very comfortable and most important was very clean.

The sunset views were beautiful! We were going to be late check in. Owner called to see where we were on arrival and stated he would wait til we arrived. Very friendly. Will definitely return.

Nice check in, very friendly. Beach is amazing. Kitchenette was nice to have.

Great place to stay. Quiet cottages that are very modern and clean (no musty smell often found in cabins). The family that runs the place are friendly, helpful and take great pride in their family land.

A great spot along the coast. Well equipped and beach in the backyard.

Very welcoming staff Extremely accommodating and appreciative of their customers.

It was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet and restful. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would stay here again.

Right on the beach, great service from staff. Very clean and comfortable.

Staff and owner communicated with us like family. Checked in on us to be sure our drive was safe and getting into the cabin was easy since we were arriving late.

Beautiful beach in a 2 minute walk. Path was overgrown. Property was beautiful but AC would have made it perfect

Very nice property, quiet and close to beaches

Excellent choice. Very clean & charming. Has a gorgeous secluded beach. Management even allowed us to use their laundry facilities free of charge.

Great location and loved the beach there but our cottage was very rustic and could probably use an upgrade. It had everything we needed, maybe air conditioning would be nice.

Great place within walking distance of the beach.

We have stayed here several times and love the cottages and how close they are to the beach.

This place is heaven on earth ♡ loved everything about it

Our cottage was spacious and had the most stunning view of the water! The beach is a short walk away in the back of the property too. For some reason the water in the sink in the bathroom didn't work at all but that didn't bother us. We just used the sink in the kitchen :) Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Great cottage lovely beaches

Easy walk to a beautiful beach

The cottage was beautiful, quiet and romantic. It is by the shore with great view of the ocean and beautiful sunset. spacious and clean, beds are comfortable,

Love love love this place. Highly recommend. Well equipped units with a kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms & a small Weber grill on the picnic table outside your unit. Incredible views from the units which sit on a hill overlooking the ocean. The star of this place is the dune & beach. Shallow warm clear water great for a swim. We did a couple sunset campfires on the beach & they were the highlight of our trip. Many repeat guests to this little island gem. The owner Colin is a solid dude who really takes pride in the place. Staff were friendly & helpful. This is a wonderful place to use as your home base for a Cape Breton experience. We will definitely return to this place.

The location and view were stunning. A perfect secluded beach stretched for a mile below us. The staff was helpful and friendly. I will be back.

This property was so nice and clean and was in such a beautiful location. The beach and the views were so spectacular. Check in and check out was super easy and everyone there was very friendly. We loved our stay!

It was perfect.

Very clean and private. Wonderful owner and workers.

Excellent!!!!

Great hosts. Clean place. Great location.

The cottages are clean and comfortable with specracular sunset views. Well equiped and situated in Port Hood, with it's beaches and beauty, you couldn't ask for a nicer spot.

Friendly helpfull owners.Well maintained.Beautiful views and short walk to nice beach.

Unfortunately, we spent only one night here. Very nice welcome and lots of information, including where to eat. Fantastic view of the water and sunset.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The cottages are clean and cozy, and contain everything one would need for cooking. The beds are comfortable, the view is lovely, and, the beach is easily accessed from the cottages. What made our stay *extra* special, however, was the warmth, wit, and, hospitality of our lovely host. First, he gave us a courtesy call to provide specific directions to the property, then, called us again to let us know about an event happening nearby at the time of our stay, in case we wanted to attend. He is a lovely human being, who seems to genuinely enjoy people. We were very proud to share the beauty of Nova Scotia with our California friends, especially the beauty of the human landscape (-thank you, Colin!). During our stay, the weather was chilly, overcast, rainy, and foggy, but, the warmth of this property’s owner, and the simple, yet, charming accommodations he offers, will bring us back again.- next time, for a longer, sunnier, summer stay.

Nice job lace

Older property but well maintained. Quiet location with limited shopping - go prepared! easy access to sandy beach

Loved the view of the water. Doesn’t matter what cottage you stay in. We’ve been many times in the last few years and love it.

Amazing location, charming cottages, friendly people, all around fabulous find.

An quiet, scenic spot with all the necessary amenities

The view of PortHood Island is stunning. The beach is literally right at your doorstep. The Cottages themself are spacious and well maintained. All the implements you need to cook a meal, BBQ, or just make coffee in the morning are there; you just need to bring the food. My only regret is that we only planned for 2 nights; I think we may return next season for the week and totally immerse ourselves in the beauty of the region.

This was the best stop on our Cabot trail trip. Beautiful cabin with everything you need, well maintained, well decorated to make you feel at home, back porch facing the ocean, and a beautiful beach right there, we loved it and wished we could have stayed longer.

Right on the ocean 2 min walk to the beach terrific

View was great - owners friendly and helpful. Good area to travel from while exploring Cape Breton and the Park. Lovely beaches in the area.

The cottage is simple and very clean. The views and beach are outstanding. Colin and his staff are warm and welcoming. They provided us with information about other nearby beaches and activities. We loved the tour of the Glen Breton Distillery. Next time we’ll try out the restaurant. I would definitely recommend the Lighthouse Cottages and we plan to return in the future 😁💕

Great cozy spot on the water

Our cottage was super clean, well appointed and spacious. The view and sunset were spectacular. The kitchen was well equipped. Being so close to the great beaches was wonderful. The lady who checked us in was extremely polite, friendly and informative and gave us great recommendations for dining out. I highly recommend this resort!

It was absolutely perfect! The view, beach and cabin exceeded our expectations! Will definitely go back!

A very quiet place to relax will book again !

Beautiful area, property has access to a nice beach.

No shampoo provided. No hot water in the evening so could not take the shower. Staff is nice

Beautiful little spot, so close to the beach. Close to grocery and a little tea shop. Comfy beds

We arrived around 7:30pm and stayed in an old two bedroom cottage house. All grocery stores and restaurants within 10 miles were closed. The house has very slow wifi, dusty bed, no air conditioner, no shampoo!

The view is incredible. Sitting on the covered patio on comfortable Adirondack chairs enjoying the water view over the softly rounded grass covered dunes is amazing. The cottage was clean and the beds comfortable. I wish the cottage had had a hair dryer and a working microwave. Bath soap was provided but no shampoo. Plenty of coffee filters, but the only coffee policed was instant.

It’s very clean and neat , lots of space, nice kitchen. Great place for money it charged. Loved ocean view from the porch, bbq. It’s true ocean cottage experience.

excellent place for a family

Beautiful spot, beautiful beach, felt very welcome.

Super clean ,great beds , quiet, walk to beach, all with $1 million view😀😀😀

Nice location with beautiful beach right in front - sand dunes and beach walking. Near a grocery store. Everything you need to make a meal kitchen.

The owner is really personable. Our cottage had a homey feel that made it comfortable

Just spent two nights. Our fourth trip in a year. Love the cabins, the beach location and sunsets.

Charming cottages in a great location. Rachel at the front desk was a true gem. Her kindness & consideration went above & beyond. Exceptional experience.

Clean new cabins and most of the amenities needed. Beach access but weather was not cooperative while we were there for only one night. Would be excellent for 4 people for multi-night stay

My wife and I loved our mid Sept visit here. Cottages are great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful view of the ocean. Nearby beach has nice sand and the water was warm enough for swimming. Will definitely come back. Much thanks to Colin and Heather.

Beautiful view, walk to the beach I a couple minutes, clean and well kept, we will return 😁
