The Fiddle and The Sea B&B

I cannot say enough about this stay! We enjoyed the owners hospitality so much. They sure made me feel special at breakfast!

Fabulous is the word I choose to use to describe this place. Wish I can give more than 5 star rating. The place was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed, everything inside our room was high quality, including the towels, bed sheets, furniture. Beautiful view from the room, very quiet place, shops and restaurants close by. The breakfast was excellent. They treat every guest with love and respect. I wish to go back and stay there for longer just to enjoy their hospitality. Thanks to Alain & Denise for doing such a wonderful job.

Everything was very clean. The owners were friendly and breatkfast was very good. We enjoyed the history of the facility and of the area. And also the Fiddle presentation after breakfast.

Excellent location with great hosts!! Highly recommend!!

We came here for the EV charging and the quiet atmosphere. We were very happy with this choice

On hand owners good information about area and facilities

Every detail was seen to. The welcome was gracious. The local information helpful. The beds were comfortable. The hot cooked breakfast was exceptional. Highest recommendation

The breakfast experience was enjoyable and delicious. The vicinity to 60 miles of bike trails was a bonus. It was a nice starting point for driving the Cabot Trail.

I look forward to returning to a peaceful place with gracious hosts! The room was clean and spacious. Everything I needed to feel at home was waiting for me including home baked cookies. Alain and Denise are wonderful hosts and paid attention u to o my needs. Breakfast was delicious stree a ted with fresh fruit, followed by a changing entree, tomatoes from the garden. Alain knows the area well and offered great advice as well as interesting facts. All of this topped off with some great fiddle music during breakfast. Thank you a thousand times over for offering me a home away from home!

Breakfast was delicious and we were treated to a violin performance! Room was clean and quiet.

It was nice owner took note of any food allergies. Asked about breakfast time preference - nice. Explained everything. Gave us history of area + played the fiddle for us. Breakfast was lovely. All homemade + special.the Red Shoe Pub in Mabou was great too! A must do!

The Fiddle and the Sea was a great place to stay in Port Hood - and one of the best accommodations we had on a long east coast trip. The hosts were lovely, breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were clean, beds comfy. Everything was perfect. Port hood is a great base for Cape Breton - highly recommend.

Alain and Denise were very welcoming. The stay was very comfortable with great views from room 1 on the front of the ground floor. They catered a very tasty vegetarian breakfast for us. Alain even treated us to a rendition on his fiddle.

Great bargain!! Highly recommend!

Wonderful owners (knowledgeable and accommodating). Excellent breakfast with live fiddle music and a slide show of local history. Will be recommending this B&B to my family - wish we had stayed 2 nights!

The room was clean an comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, particularly the bread and preserves.

Really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was pleasant, the fiddle was a nice touch. Nice view of water. Would return if back in the area.

Our room at The Fiddle and The Sea was fabulous! Spacious, clean, and private. Breakfast both days was awesome! Best coffee in Nova Scotia🤗

Homemade frittata, bread, fruit cup and jams for breakfast prepared by Denise was accompanied by a very informative storytelling of the local history AND a quick little fiddle piece by Alain. Thank you both for a lovely stay.

Wonderful hosts Great room with private bath and view of the water Breakfast was scrumptious and served elegantly Getting info on local attractions and live fiddle music at breakfast was the icing on the cake - thank you!!

Beautiful comfortable property. The breakfast was delicious. High recommended!

Wonderful hosts!

Great breakfast

Beautiful spot. Great hosts.

New and impeccable property. Super friendly hosts and a huge delicious breakfast. Be prepared to be entertained by Alain and his stories of Cape Breton at breakfast time!

The hosts are wonderful & so helpfull! Homemade breakfast was delicious! Room spotless! Beds comfy! We would absolutely stay again!

Charming home. Our room was very spacious as was the bathroom. Very quiet rural area, we had the windows open at night for a cool salty breeze. The hosts were very knowledgeable about local attractions and places to eat. The breakfast was delicious custom order and all homemade. The only flaw was it was bit difficult to locate as the signage was a ways off the rod and partly hidden by grass.

Great Hosts, Best breakfast we have had on our trip, Hosts were very informative.

Husband at the door with CC machine in hand on our arrival! Also he was coughing loudly at the guests during breakfast!! We could not get out of there fast enough!

The Fiddle and the Sea was a great B&B experience. The hosts were very helpful - they put our ice pack in their own freezer so it would be ready for the next day and gave us a second one that they had on hand at no cost. The room was comfortable and spotless. The hosts were a wealth of local knowledge - they shared a number of local restaurants that offered live music, and encouraged us to walk up to the bandshell for their concert. We did, and it was a lot of fun - just local people who could play and sing. Best part was breakfast: The host made a soufflé and homemade bread with homemade jam. And while we ate her husband entertained us by playing the fiddle. Really cool personal touch. Definitely would book again.

Excellent location. Great view of water. Hosts were wonderful and gave a brief history of the area during the delicious breakfast.

Alain and Denise are great hosts. They are clear on making your time with them the best possible. From knowing all of the local events and providing you options to warming up a newly purchased lobster (complete with a lesson on how to extract the most meat possible) I look back on my time at the Fiddle and the Sea with fondness and a greater understanding of the history of the area. I highly recommend the Fiddle and the Sea B & B.

Comfortable room and convenient location. Good restaurant/bar nearby. Very friendly owners who were very knowledgeable about the local area

Owners were very nice and knowledgeable of area and things to do

Hosts were absolutely amazing!!! The husband and wife team were so very helpful and informative. Attention and care was taken in the preparation of the room with nothing lacking in amenities. The breakfast experience was a definite bonus. We were not expecting such a wonderful service, starting with a fresh fruit bowl, yogurt and granola, followed by freshly baked bread and a warm frittata. We were also serenaded with beautiful live music played on the violin and a welcome brief of the history of the island, its culture, and other points of interest. Definitely would highly recommend staying at this inn.

We were on a short turnaround, we arrived late and left early, and didn’t get a chance to experience the breakfast. The hosts were gracious enough to create a takeaway lunch in lieu of our missed breakfast which was greatly appreciated.

Wonderful stay with lovely hosts. Plus a delicious breakfast.

Denise and Allan were wonderful hosts. They assisted us in our needs with a pleasant demeanour and smile. Denise made everything fresh and from scratch. The breakfast was so delicious. Alan was very informative about things to do, history and culture of the area. We really enjoyed our stay

Denise and Alain are exceptional hosts! Generous with tips and tasty foods to better our visit in the area🎶

The owner Alain did a presentation on his laptop about the history of the area followed by playing his violin while we were having our breakfast. Very nice touch.

Excellent facilities. Personalized service. Best breakfast in the entire area.Highly recommended.

The hosts are lovely.

Very clean accommodation and very comfortable. Fantastic hosts , close to restaurants and beach . Lovely breakfast with home cooking and home made bread. Host played the fiddle for breakfast guests and gave a slide show on the area and attractions

We had a lovely slide show by the owner after breakfast, lots of wonderful history and information shared! He then played his fiddle for us. Perfect!

Breakfast was the best I've had at a B&B, complete with live fiddle music

The hosts were fabulous! They were extremely knowledgeable about all facets of Cape Breton and Halifax, both historic and current. The food was delicious. It was skillfully prepared and fresh, even the bread was home made. I would recommend this B and B without hesitation.

We had a lovely time. Nice room, great breakfast and wonderful hosts. Highly recommended!

Clean, friendly, quiet spot to stay the night along the Cabot trail!!

A fine room with a beautiful view, charming and informative and entertaining hosts, a wonderful breakfast!

Great host's

Alain and Denise were incredible hosts! The room was clean and delightful. Our breakfast in the morning was decadent, fresh and hot! The entire breakfast was made from scratch. A culinary delight!

Great view of the Port Hood harbor. Good jumping off location for the Cabot Trail.

They charge $3/hr for the EV charging station.

Wonderful breakfast, clean and spacious room.

All great so far!

Excellent food, great hospitality, overall awesome place to stay!

Great property and lovely hosts. Fabulous breakfast and a bonus treat to have some fiddling while we dined.

Denise and Alain were great hosts and Alain is a fantastic entertainer/storyteller

Super endroit. Les hôtes sont vraiment gentils et nous donne beaucoup d’informations pour agrémenter notre séjour.

Nice BnB run by a friendly couple

Lovely spot. Comfortable bed. Friendly host! Great to have coffee and access to the shared mini fridge. I enjoyed the granola and preserves in the morning.

The hosts were wonderful. During the delicious breakfast they explained the history of the area and made great recommendations for hiking and exploring. We even got a fiddle song played by Alain.

Excellent in every way - couldn’t praise this any more highly.

Great stay at the Fiddle and the Sea. Breakfast was great. They directed us to a local farmers market and a beautiful beach. Would recommend staying there.

The innkeepers made this inn a very special place. They were most gracious in sharing information about the area, preparing a lovely breakfast, and nice touches in the room to make for a perfect stay.

This is a perfect place to stay. The owners goes beyond to let you feel comfortable. Breakfast is amazing and you are lucky, you get to hear some violin music during breakfast.

We enjoyed staying here. The bed was very comfortable, the room was beautiful, and the breakfast was excellent. I would highly recommend this place.

Everything was very nice. Denice was so kind to make me a really delicious dairy free breakfast. We were met at the door and shown around. We were treated to some local history and fiddle music too!

We had a good stay here. Our hosts were very attentive and gave good recommendations for where to go and local restaurants. Bed was comfortable and room well air conditioned . Breakfast was nicely served and lots of homemade offerings. Easy to find and could walk to good local restaurants and beaches .

The hosts are amazing!

Very nice place and friendly people Did not like the central AC as we could not control room temperature. & we were not allowed to use ceiling fan on high

A delightful B&B, well located for Port Hood’s fabulous beaches. A super breakfast complimented by hosts that are passionate about the area, its history and local music.

Entertained by the owner on the fiddle.

Beautiful home, beautiful room, kind hosts, delicious breakfasts, and local recommendations. Great stay!

A very nice B$B with a great breakfast. The owner gave a presentation about the area which was informative. We would definitely stay there again.

What a wonderful cozy place and loveliest hosts we've come across. Clean, homely feeling and the hosts go above and beyond to ensure guests have the best experience. Not your typical B&B, but a place filled with charm and character. Highly recommended.

Lovely hosts, breakfast was top notch and room was very clean and cozy. Very good value.

The people who greeted us show they care about the people staying and almost treat you as family. Rooms were very quiet, and the breakfast set up was excellent. I think there was 4 rooms available, we never heard a noise from any of the other rooms

Owner had a presentation of things to do in the area. Suggested a square dance nearby. So fun.

This property and the owners were amazing. The food at breakfast was homemade and also amazing. They imparted their knowledge and history of the area so that we could have the best time and we did.Thank you

Beautiful B&B. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Lovely hosts that prepared a fantastic and filling breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.

Great stay. Hosts were fantastic and provided a delicious breakfast while giving an overview of the sights in the area. Highly recommend.

Aside from a clean, comfortable room and great breakfast, Denise and Alain, though transplants to the area, are steeped on it's culture and enthusiastically share their knowledge with their guests. Alain gave us a great slide show and talk at breakfast, followed by a short fiddle concert of local music.

Dennis and his wife are amazing! The rooms were impeccable and the breakfast excellent. Dennis even regaled us with fiddle music at breakfast and explained the difference between Cape Breton fiddle music and that from Quebec.

Great place !

The owners served a great breakfast and gave a lot of information on the area and its history, which was very interesting. They even played the violin! They were also helpful on telling about the local restaurants. The room itself was only average because it was on the lower level and partially underground, though the amenities were normal.

The place was well situated to walk to the beaches and any dining option. Alain and Denise suggested the Clove and Hitch Bistro which was excellent. As hosts they have thought of everything you may need in the rooms which were spotless and very well stocked. The information Alain shared at breakfast about the area was useful and interesting. The breakfast was home-made, fresh and delicious.

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are large and clean. You can walk down to several beaches. The breakfast was fantastic! We enjoyed learning about the area and some fiddle music at breakfast. The hosts are warm and welcoming. It was the best coffee my husband had on our whole trip throughout Nova Scotia.

Denise and Alain welcomed us warmly and made our stay memorable. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious.

I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the Fiddle and the Sea. Our room was spacious and quiet. Spotless too. The breakfasts were excellent, with homemade bread, various egg dishes, fresh fruit and yogurt. Best of all, our host Alain played his fiddle for us at breakfast and gave a brief talk (with photos!) each morning about about the history, culture, landscapes and wildlife of Cape Breton. We learned so much. He and Denise also advised us on things to do and see based on our interests and time. We’d love to stay at the Fiddle and the Sea again.

An example of what B&Bs should be like

Limited choice for breakfast

This was a fantastic experience! The couple who own and manage could not have done more! Lovely!!

Breakfast

Amazing hosts and place. Close to the beaches. The hosts have history and also music. Lovely stop. Super clean. Great breakfast.

We loved this B&B. The hosts are so warm and hospitable. We had the most delicious breakfast along with a history lesson of the area and fiddle music played for us as we ate. The place was spotless clean and had very adorable furnishings and decor. We would definitely recommend to stay there. You will love being spoiled.

A perfect stay for me while golfing in the area. Lovely facilities and great hosts!!! Very quiet and a wonderful view of the water. Great spot to catch a sunset. Breakfast provided each day was plentiful and delicious. Would highly recommend staying here if in the area 😀

Very nice & cozy B&B. Right place for meticulous travelers, rooms were super clean, they tell you about the time for breakfast in the morning 7:30am and they make it for their guests so it is hot & fresh. The hosts are kind and friendly, they care about their guest beyond doing their job. It was one of the best accommodations to stay in Cape Brenton Island.

Everything was top notch
