było super, ciekawe doświadczenie spanie w samolocie ,pokoje czyste z kuchnią w otoczeniu przepięknej natury ,bardzo na się podobało
Quirky, fun, comfortable and an attention to detail. Clean. The electric blankets were on; the heat pump was on. The place was clean and ready to receive us. There are games to play. The grounds are great to wander. There are interesting things to explore.
To be honest, nothing. We were warm, welcomed, comfortable, great location, well provisioned, clean. There was nothing amiss really. Lots of lovely places for an evening stroll.
The location was close to the caves.
We were expecting a fun novelty room. As soon as we walked into the cockpit the musty smell hit us. The room was old and so basic there was barely anywhere to sit . The beds were on a lean and looked totally horrible. We left straight away and booked elsewhere
Unique property with an ideal location if you are visiting the caves
we cooked so amazing
better mattress
Samo w sobie spanie w wagonie.
Chłodno w lazience (w zimie)
Very unique idea.
Rhe manager was an awesome gut. Friendly and accomodating
It was fun to stay in the plane and the bonus was the fabulous evening to unwind.
It is a novel place to stay but glad we had no neighbours.
Great cosy little train carriage. Heater was on when we arrived.
The bunk was a bit wobbly
The location was interesting. Rooms were comfortable. Was a bit disappointed in the information provided to check in. The front gate was closed and only had a garbage bag attached saying "closed". We eventually decided to just open the gate and go through. There was a gate adjacent to it which you could have gone down if you did not understand what was happening. There was very little communication between the host and us. Although the accommodation is quirky we did not feel very comfortable. I think there should be more interaction between the owner and guests. There is a lot of history in this place and could be such a wonder of NZ.
Son loved the aeroplane theme, enough facilities, the place and surrounds got a beautiful view
bed wasn't comfortable and room wasn't very clean but it's all part of the experience, overall okay
The room was great
The soap in the bathrooms wasn’t very nice
It was very quirky which made it fun. Staff were friendly, location was great. Much better than many reviews suggested it would be. Bedding etc and kitchen equipment was clean. It is quirky so probably wouldn’t suit someone who is particularly precious about things being modern and spotless but for us that was what appealed.
Some of the curtains/flooring were a bit old. But it was clean and we felt comfortable there.
Great novelty factor and good location.
We stayed in the plane cockpit, it was good fun but it needs a bit of a freshen up. Blinds were all broken and couldn’t open plus the mattress downstairs is pretty worn out. Also there is a mouse or rat living in the cockpit, was making a lot of noice and surveying around for about 30mins at 3am haha
Fair stay in a qaint town.
Beautiful location
Place needed to be tidied up , there was ladders lying around and old paint tins etc
Really cool concept! We stayed in the cockpit of the airplane. As airplanes enthusiasts, this was really a neat experience. Nice park, quiet location and great staff. A fun way to spend a night!
Quirky idea and good location. Bed was comfy
Very unpleasant odour in the room, which resembled a septic or drainage issue. Bathroom door and window blinds was broken so difficult to close and so no privacy from other guests.Water leaked through the door when it rained. Staff didnt respond to email regarding the matter.
Unfortunately, upon arrival we were met with a very unpleasant odour in the room, which resembled a septic or drainage issue. After a bit of investigation, it appeared to be coming from the bathroom area. We had an early start the following morning, and when we returned later that day we noticed a dehumidifier had been placed in the room. We appreciated this effort, and we also tried to air the room out by opening the doors and windows, which helped slightly, but the smell unfortunately persisted. Additionally, during heavy rain we were unable to keep the room ventilated, and we also experienced water leaking in through the door. Many of the fixtures were also quite tatty, and there was no blinds on the windows facing the other room whoch meant little privacy. As we arrived late on the Friday and a fairly full itinerary over the weekend, we weren’t able to raise the issue directly with the office during our stay, however it was raised afterwards but they never responded so very disappointed overall.
Kids loved staying in a train, big clean bathroom, great location, shame we arrived too late to enjoy the grounds and view
Double bed mattress uncomfortable and could do with replacing
Always wanted to stay in a Hobbit House & this one was well made but getting a bit tired, broken railings outside the entrance & generally looking a bit unloved, also the fridge sounded like there was a howling gale behind it... however my Daughter loved telling her friends where she was staying so that made up for it!

Sehr originel
Schlechtes Internet
A unique setting and accommodation. A stones throw from all Waitomo attractions. A clean and tidy unit (the Captains quarters). We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Ship. The uneven floor gave one the feeling of being at sea 🤗
No coffee. Plunger or sachet.
Loved the whole stay, we were booked into the Olympic unit. Most favorite stay.. will definitely come back and try the other accommodations.
No fault
Loved the uniqueness of the stay.. first time in a plane tail unit. Loved checking out all the antiques in the main reception area. So close to the Glo worm caves and surrounding areas of interest.
The Plane unit is a little small to accommodate 4 comfortably however the kids loved it too. Took us a few goes to get the gas stove to work but worked it out... perhaps a small sign for future guests would help.
The host was amazing we came with two rooms booked and didn’t know the distance and it was no trouble to move us together, host was full of information and helpful places to visit and eat!
Nothing amazing
Hobbit hole was my favorite thing by far. The staff were really amazing and helped with all the bad luck that happened that was no fault of their own. They even lent us their chargers since our luggage was lost and when it arrived they moved it into our room
Die Aufmachung des Motels ist wirklich witzig. Man muss so etwas Ausgefallenes mögen.
Kids were happy so 👍
Had a musty smell but other than that was good
The hobbit hole was super cool, very comfortable and the staff was great
I think leaning a little bit into some hobbit decor could go a long way for the atmosphere of the place.
Stayed in the cockpit. Had an absolute blast. It also had everything I needed.
A couple extra handles to get up into the cockpit would be helpful. This place definitely brought out the kid in me but that kid is aging.
An original and fun self contained accommodation idea , staying in an actual plane! We were in the tail section, (one double bed, two bunks) another family in the front but access from either side of the plane so it felt very private. Room enough for the 4 of us. Nice to be able to walk around the whole property and see outside of other fun accommodation conversions. Conversion all done by one man and there was also a boat, a train, and a hobbit style house on the extensive property.
Kitchen accessories were limited but we were able to cook in the small kitchen both nights we stayed.
Quirky accommodation, perhaps unique. Enjoyed staying in the ship, almost wish we could have stayed in the aircraft!
It is cute the boat was good but I think we should have chosen the hobbit house. We really enjoyed the wart hog
Unfortunately, we didn't stay. $219 for a substandard room on an old boat. I should have looked at the alternate accommodation photos more closely. We just cut our losses and booked another room in the next town.
Bed almost at floor level, no room for luggage. Crickety steps to the hull to access the bathroom. Just not up to standard for $219 per night. Booked a room next town for $147, clean and modern.
Really confortable bed and Plenty of Space. Quiet location
We originally booked into the airplane cockpit but we realised that it was not suitable. The manager didn’t hesitate to find us an alternate room on site.
It was a little bit cool but was plenty of heating available
The location and idea of a hobbit hotel
The Strong mold smell… It was impossible to be able to sleep there for health reasons
We made a late booking and there was nowhere else to stay, so we were allowed to stay there which we were grateful for. The manager did warn us that there was water damage.
Beyond the water damage from recent storms, the hull is cracking and has allowed heavy mould into the room. We gave feedback to the manager about better maintenance which he seemed to take on board.
Unique. Convenient.
staff ok, accommodation rubbish
Awesome setting and fu ky accommodation
Nothing.. was all as described
Perfect location for the Glow worm caves, Fun and quirky accommodation especially in a thunderstorm!
Nothing it was great.☺️
It was clean, tidy and exceptionally quirky. None of our party of 4 adults had ever stayed in such a unique property. It really was a highlight of our journey up North Island. We stayed in the captain’s cabin. Arriving at night was most atmospheric.
We couldn’t fault it. It was exactly as described.
I enjoyed the theme of the aeroplane room and background information provided on how the idea was brought to life. Plenty of parking space and clear signs for good directions to each themed motel. The top floor was our favorite with the cockpit still intact. Very quiet and secluded area with nice views.
There was a bit of a slant to the bed on the main level, outdated carpet, and difficulty opening/closing sliding door to bathroom.
very good
This is such a quirky place! So much fun to visit we stayed in the airplane cockpit section and just loved it.
It could use a little reinvestment and TLC
it was the experience for us as our kids wanted to sleep in a Hobbit hole.
I sort of expected it as i read it in the reviews and because the accommodation is built in the ground and there for quite some time the air in the home is quite damp. The Fridge was not ideal and not working great and the stove did not work. We wer provided with only one roll of toulet paper for 5 people 2 days. We did get more when asked.
All was great! Accommodating Staff.
Wife mentioned one of the rooms was a bit dusty. Nothing else wrong.
great experience sleeping in a cockpit!
Didn't think the maximum of 4 people would fit
The entire family loved staying in a Hobbit home! The location was convenient for visiting Waitomo Caves and close to town including a great restaurant called HuHu. Our room was basic but had everything we needed for a one night stay. The whole property is unique, quirky and obviously someone's passion project. The kids look forward to returning and sleeping in the ship!
Our cave room had a very strong musty smell. Not entirely unexpected given it is a "cave" room and was after a massive amount of rain in the area. Unfortunately the air fresheners, fan and open windows didn't help alleviate the smell so this did negatively impact our experience.
Quirky accommodation: we were in an old converted ship. Peaceful setting very convenient for the caves. Friendly and helpful staff.
Wifi connection was slow and variable. The furnishings, bedlinen etc a bit shabby. Booking gave the impression we’d be in the hobbit accommodation.
