Just avoid the place and sleep in your car as it is not worth the $30. The mattresses are crap and can feel all the wood in the bed. The shower curtains are seen, though with slippy floors. There is no place to change after a shower other than the open in the bathroom. Once you go through, check in. It's narrow, no light corridors, and like a horror movie. Crap prefab interior. I'm not sure how it can be registered as accommodation. The heater in the room wouldn't switch off and was so hot in the room overnight. I had to force the window open at 6 am. As i couldn't open it earlier. No staff around because they would have so many complaints, online computer check-in. I arrived at 11.30 pm and left at 7am unable to get any sleep and it's just gross.

Price is good for the facilities. Location is good. Warm and cosy rooms. Kitchen is very good! Public showers are nice and hot.

Beddings were not fresh in room 20( bunkbeds) and small space. Shower room was cold and had poor water pressure in room 4 ( luxury room)

Very well managed, clean and comfortable.

My whole room was empty and I was assigned a top bunk bed. As there was no reception and automatic assignment of beds, I couldn't do anything.

Todo era tenebroso, no había luz en los pasillos y era muy laberintico. Además no hay nadie en recepción por lo que parece todo el rato un hostal viejo abandonado. Muy tetrico, pasé miedo

the affordable room

the water temperature is not working. We arrived 6pm and we had a cold shower as we dont have choice🫠

The bed was very comfortable and the room was very warm. The movie room was cool.

This place was incredibly noisy you don't want to stay near the kitchen. The shower was horrible no hot water the 2nd night. The fridge was dirty and terrible reception.

Great place to stay, everyone super friendly and can always find someone to chat with. Enjoy rhe cinema room and playing pool, which you do have to pay 3 bucks for but should be free for guests 😀. Clean, tidy and warm. Great place to stay , recommended 👌

The kids loved the “Narnia wardrobe” into the kids tv room. The car charger was excellent and surprisingly fast…though i had great difficulty registering for the app with poor cell reception.

The cellphone reception was terrible which made us reliant on the WiFi which also was not great. WiFi should be a secure network.

I like the location which close enough to both skiing fields. The environment is cozy. The self check in is easy.

The room I live was opposite to the kitchen. I could smell cooking all night, and it was very noisy I couldn’t sleep well. People were talking loud in the kitchen area. I had have to get up at 2:47am to close the kitchen door.

It was too noise, walls are too thin - we cood hear snoring people throught the night. In the morning we were woken up by running children in the halwway earlir than we wanted. Cookware is dated and rough.

Like that it has security lock system and close to whakapapa if you’re feeling lazy to travel back.

We got the noisiest room- literally next to kitchen. Unfortunately couldn’t have properly sleep as can hear all the noise next door and also at the back outside and next room.

The room is poorly soundproofed; kitchen smells can waft into the room, and there's no hairdryer.

La cocina estaba muy equipada, tiene sala de tv con netflix y de juegos que puede dar mucho de sí en un día con mal tiempo.

La cocina está muy equipada y es espaciosa. Los lavabos estaban muy limpios y se estaba muy calentito.

Todo va con código y no sabía que no encontraría a ninguna persona para realizar el check-in y de paso poderle preguntar información sobre el parque Tongariro.

Easy self check in process

Location was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Amenities were great and the games room was very nice

The shower pressure wasn't that great and it was a bit annoying having to type in your pin when you wanted to go into the main facilities (we were in room 4)

Easy check in via computer, provided. Clean and tidy. All well even with no staff present. Responsible guests.

My mattress was a bit used in the middle of it a bit flat.

La poignée de ma porte de chambre était cassée, je devais jouer avec pour trouver la bonne position pour pouvoir entrer ou sortir mais je me suis retrouver un grans nombre de fois coincée dans le couloir ou dans ma chambre. La wifi fonctionne quand elle en a envie. Le chauffage.. laisse à désirer également, je pense que j'aurai dormis dehors par moment j'aurai eu tout aussi chaud, et pour cause, le chauffe se coupe pendant la nuit, plusieurs fois j'ai vu d'autres clients autour de la pompe à chaleur essayant de faire en sortant qu'on ai tous plus chaud mais sans succès, j'ai passé mon séjour à dormir en vêtements thermiques, jusqu'à ce que je comprenne pourquoi. Un manque de chauffage oui mais ma fenêtre ferme très très mal laissant entrer une grosse partie de l'air de dehors. J'ai voulu faire une machine à laver, j'ai payé via la plate-forme comme demandé, j'ai bien été débité mais la machine ne c'est jamais lancé, j'ai perdu $5... quand j'ai contacté le propriétaire j'ai eu des messages très condescendant. J'avais le même principe de machine à laver dans mes auberges précédentes et je n'ai jamais eu de problème mais apparemment pour le propriétaire je suis dois être une idiote. La communication était difficile car ils ne veulent pas se faire contacter par booking mais seulement par WhatsApp seulement avec une wifi qui ne fonctionne pas je ne pouvais pas télécharger WhatsApp. J'ai également signaler une bête vivant dans le toit et faisant beaucoup se bruit on m'a dit que c'était des oiseaux mais j'ai beaucoup de mal à y croire aux vu des bruits entendu.. bref quand on signale quelque chose au propriétaire le problème n'est pas l'établissement mais bien vous! Un gros problème pour accepter la critique constructive apparemment. Le matelas est creusé on s'en les lattes et le dessus de lit sent vraiment très mauvais et était tâché. La cuisine est dans un état lamentable.

Nice accommodation, good beds and spacious room with a little outdoor seating space. Big common areas with a well equipped kitchen. Easy parking right in front (you do need a car to stay here)

The shower in the room had very low water pressure on with warmer water, did not try the communal showers

Stayed here previously to hike, this time was driving cross country. It was extremely quiet due to being out of season, so everything was cleaner than last time. Lots of cooking equipment and everything you need. It was nice and warm inside, the showers are good pressure and hot. The lodge has a cosy feeling, and nice decor. The double room was better than last time, a bit more cosy, very comfy bed and 4 pillows.

Perhaps could ensure the dish sponges are clean, they looked a bit old with food on.

Es war nachts viel zu heiß: 3 Uhr aufgewacht komplett verschwitzt (ohne Decke) und es war unmöglich für mich im Zimmer wieder einzuschlafen weswegen ich mich mit Decke und Kissen in den Game Room gelegt habe wo die Temperaturen angenehmer waren. Küche war von 18-20 Uhr sehr überfüllt und wenn man früh schlafen will kann man das hier teils vergessen weil die Türen und Schlösser auch noch die lautesten die ich kenne sind. Die Betten auch nicht viel besser ohne Rost nur mit holzbrettern unterm Rücken. Aber naja sind ja auch nur 8€ die Nacht

Brilliant position for access to the Tongariro reserve. Good value. Kitchen was reasonably equipped if small and the dining area was good. Nice Communal lounge and TV room plus an extra film room.
