And this is our second time staying here, last time we stayed about a year and half ago! The hotel was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well cared for. Everything was spotless, and you could tell that the staff takes great pride in maintaining the property. The beds were comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxing, and we always felt at home during our stay. What really made our experience special was the friendliness and kindness of the entire staff. Everyone we interacted with was warm, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. It made such a difference, especially traveling with my son and my father. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful hospitality and the care shown to us throughout our stay. We would absolutely not stay anywhere else when we return. This hotel will always be our first choice! Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. We truly appreciate everything you do!

Reviewed Aug 15, 2026Todo fue perfecto el personal fue muy amable desde el primer momento ofreciéndose a reservarnos en sitios para comer eso si tuvimos un problema con la cafetera pero fue resuelto al momento, la terraza muy amplia y con buenas vistas y todo muy limpio además de una perfecta ubicación cerca de una playa.
Hubo un pequeño problema y es que no tienen un mini tendedero para tender las toallas cuando vuelves de la playa.

Funcionarios muito simpático e profissionais, o quarto tem um bom espaço, tem muitos utensilios de cozinha e está renovado. A localização do hotel é boa, tal como a facilidade de estacionamento no mesmo.
Gostaria que as camas fossem um pouco mais confortaveis, tal como as almofadas. Alguns equipamentos de cozinha, tal como frigideira, necessitam de ser substituidos. No SPA a sauna a funciona teria sido um plus.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026All the respect to the staff working at this hotel in May 2026, they must be the nicest people I've met. They seemed genuinely happy when we arrived and they saw us, and were so nice and helpful and made us feel so welcomed. It was only us around, but they turned on the sauna and jacuzzi for us. The apartments are nice, and the outside pool is a little heated, so we were able to use it in May even though the weather wasn't very warm yet. And the view from the balcony was so, so beautiful. I really hope we'll return someday.

Reviewed May 25, 2026El personal muy amable siempre atento a ayudarte. Me dejaron hacer el check in una hora antes. El lugar es muy tranquilo y si tienes tiempo puedes usar su gimnasio y sauna, que aunque no era muy grande, era más que suficiente para relajarte.
El acceso a la recepción no tiene rampa y hay que bajar escaleras, pero tampoco era un inconveniente porque no eran muchas.

Widać ząb czas na wyposażeniu. Twarde ( jak dla mnie materace). W tracie naszego krótkiego pobytu, ekipa remontowała pokoje - zamiast poczekać do wymeldowania, wiercenie w ścianie w pokoju obok od 9:00.

Potěšila i hernička pro dítě a využili jsme i venkovní bazén,výřivku a saunu a vše bylo moc příjemné. Lokalita sice není v centru města, ale stejně jsme měli auto a všude jezdili autem.

Reviewed Oct 23, 2025We liked everything about this hotel. Essentially located so very convenient to go to all the hiking spots we wish to see and all the major areas on the island. Parking was great and easy and we loved the spacious quarters. There is a great coastal walk just a short distance from the hotel that gave us great exercise and stunning views.
Unfortunately a group of men were staying there and decided to start partying every night at about 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. We tend to go to bed early and get up early to go hiking so we talked to the front desk and the last night the problem seemed to be alleviated. There aren't a lot of restaurants or supermarkets nearby but we were always out and about so we just grab something as we were traveling. The kitchen is well stocked so it's easy to stop at a grocery and get what we needed.

Falta un tostador de pan como menaje de cocina. Almohadas excesivamente blandas. Limpieza más frecuente de las habitaciones.

Reviewed Sep 19, 2025The Whales Bay hotel is highly recommended. The place was very nice and clean. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and even got into the jacuzzi for a few minutes. The location is nice also as it is out in a quieter area but still only about 25 minutes t Ponta Delgada. The only thing missing was a nice breakfast.

Os quartos têm boas áreas, as camas são muito boas e a cozinha está muito bem equipada. A acrescentar, tem uma piscina com água quentinha, da qual usufruimos todos os dias. O staff atencioso e disponível a ajudar. O alojamento não tem a localização mais central mas, de carro rapidamente estamos em qualquer lugar. Recomendo vivamente!!

It's a pity that there is no breakfast and no cafes or shops within walking distance. Although by car everything is nearby and in the lobby they sell necessary things at reasonable prices.

Reviewed Jun 9, 2025We chose this hotel/apartment because it has a fully stocked kitchen, beautiful location near the ocean, free parking, pleasant, and courteous staff and away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and only 10–15 minutes car ride away. there is a supermarket about five minutes drive and a few bars and restaurants around. and on top of it, the daily price is reasonable.

Reviewed May 26, 2025Funktional, gut gelegen, allerdings wenig Charme und etwas heruntergekommen. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, es gibt einen großen Balkon sowie Pool und Saunabereich. Das Appartment hat leider null Charme, ist etwas heruntergekommen (abgenutzte Stühle, wo sich die Beschichtung löst, Kalk und Schimmel in der Dusche, kaputter Balkontisch). Das Schlafzimmer hat den Reiz einer Jugendherberge mit zwei getrennten Betten und ebenfalls abgeschrupptem Kopfteil hinter den Betten. Zudem liegt das SZ zum offenen Flur, mab schläft quasi neben dem Aufzug und hört jeden Gast, der sich in der Etage bewegt.

Lots of space, super clean and anything you could need was in the apartment. You need a rental car for this area but it was so peaceful and scenic. Incredible walking trails right outside the complex. We enjoyed the spa amenities and pool every night! I would highly recommend Whales Bay!

Reviewed Sep 28, 2024Room and its amenities were great and everything was very clean. Parking was easy. All the staff were super friendly and communication was always quick and easy with them, before and during the stay. We had casually mentioned to one of them that we were on anniversary, and our last day they sent a gift basket for us as a surprise! Would definitely stay here again.

Reviewed Sep 18, 2024It is an apartments hotel. We are a couple, and had a T1 apt, which is the smallest. It is quite large. It has a spacious leaving room with fully equipped kitchenet. The bathroom facilities were brand new and functioned well. The bed room is also very spacious and cosy. The bed very comfortable. There is a good a A/C. The WIFI is super strong and stable. The stuff, either in the reception or cleaning are very polite and helpful. The WIFI super strong and stable. They have also a wet room (sauna, steam room and jacuzzi) which is a nice place to relax at the end of the day, and is opened until 10:30 pm. The hotel is from one hand 20 minutes drive from ponta delgada, and from the other hand 30 minutes drive from sete cidades and the lakes

Reviewed Sep 14, 2024We had the penthouse room 301 and it was fantastic. It was modern, open, clean and bright with ample space. The view was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. There are only a couple of walkable food options, but it was worth it. Highly recommend.
