De gastvrouw was hartstikke vriendelijk en lief. Het uitzicht was prachtig! Locatie was juist top omdat je in het stadje zelf niet veel te zoeken had en je nu wel mooi uitzicht hebt.

Sherwood Cottage feels more like home than a place to stay. I’ve been coming here regularly whenever I visit Nuwara Eliya, and every visit feels special. The owner is no longer just a host to me—she feels like a mom, with the same warmth, care and kindness. A truly precious little home away from home. ❤️

Het ligt vrij ver de heuvel op het centrum uit. Ja je kan via een paadje naar de stad lopen maar voor een leuk restaurant oid moet je een tuktuk of taxi hebben. Omdat het een vrij smal weggetje omhoog is moesten we meerdere keren de chauffeur ervan overtuigen dat het toch echt de goede weg was. De accommodatie heeft een flinke opknapbeurt nodig. Muren zitten vol met vlekken (met name van insecten), het douchegordijn was beschimmeld en er hingen op meerdere plekken elektradraden uit muur/plafond met een kroonsteentje erop. De deuren sloten niet goed omdat het hout door het vocht is gaan werken. Het is dus ook vrij klam in de kamer. Je voelde het aan je kleding, het linnengoed en de meubels. Onze aankomst was ook ietwat vreemd. Nadat we door de taxi waren afgezet moesten we zoeken naar een receptie oid. Die blijkt er niet te zijn. Na enig zoeken zagen we een soort eetzaal waarvan de deur gesloten was. Door een tijd op de deur te kloppen kwam er iemand aan om ons te ontvangen. We kregen thee op de kamer en de mededeling hoe je sneller richting de stad liep. Uitleg over de accommodatie, eventueel ontbijt etc was er niet

Very nice place to stay with family with a very nice host and beautiful views. Our full family of 8 people had a nice time.

L' hébergement a une belle vue sur la vallée et les montagnes. Il y a un passage qui permet d' aller assez rapidement en ville. Notre hôtesse nous a chaleureusement accueillis avec un thé et elle a été très accommodante pour la suite de notre voyage. À noter que la couette du lit a été appréciée, car les nuits peuvent être fraîches.

Het is een stukje lopen naar het centrum. Naar beneden prima te doen, maar terug is het een flinke klim. Er is niet heel veel te doen in NY, dus we zijn i.p.v. 2 nachten 1 nacht gebleven.

From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. The hosts are some of the kindest and most thoughtful people I’ve met—always incredibly helpful and truly caring. The room was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed. Waking up to the beautiful view every morning made the stay even more special. The whole place has such a peaceful, cozy atmosphere that it instantly feels like a home away from home. This is truly a place where you can relax and feel completely at ease. I would come back without hesitation and will definitely stay here again the next time I’m in the area. Highly recommended!

We made a confirmed booking, but when we arrived, the rooms we had reserved were not provided. It appears that once a booking is confirmed, the property does not actually hold the reserved room for the guest, which is very disappointing and unprofessional. The owner's behavior was also disappointing and lacked professionalism. Overall, this was a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend this property based on how our booking was handled.

Can not recommend this place enough, for the price I don't think you could get any better. The view is absolutely incredible, you can spend ages just watching the clouds roll over. The room is clean, bed is very comfy and the shower is lovely and warm. It's a really great location too, slightly out of town so it's very peaceful but is only 10 minutes walk to get into town using shortcut. The walk back up from town really isn't so bad either! It's also easy to get a tuk tuk if preferred and you can get food delivered there too. The staff were really friendly and often brought me tea / coffee and snacks! I ended up extending my stay as I loved it so much and i will definitely stay here again in the future.

Only thing I can think of is it would be nice to have a kettle in the room

Il fait super froid dans la chambre, on était pas prêt mais bon c’est les montagnes mais à savoir quand même. Je n’ai pas pu prendre de petit déjeuner les 2 matins également …

Stayed one night at Sherwood Cottage. Such a pleasant and calm environment. The room was very comfortable, worth the price, and had hot water which was perfect for the cool weather. The host was so kind and friendly. Definitely planning to stay here again.

La familia que lo lleva son muy amables, el alojamiento lo han arreglado y no tiene las manchas de humedad de otras fotos. En general está muy bien por el precio que tiene. Pero hay demasiada humedad y huele y se hace algo incómodo para dormir. Si arreglan eso estaría perfecto.

Amazing place we wish we stayed an extra night here. The family are so friendly and the view is so relaxing. They should charge more for the room

The host of the property is extremely kind and warm person. Rooms are beautiful with a lovely view. They upgraded us to a room with a loft. Room was clean and spacious. Great host, great property.

As per my clients, they like the overall style and look of the hotel, the rooms were really nice and comfortable but were also met with some inconveniences (please read 'what didn't you like?)

As per my clients who stayed at the hotel, there was no one at the reception to greet them, no hot water in the room, their breakfast the next day was poor and delayed, they had to wait 30min to receive their bill. Overall experience wasn't pleasant.

The room was filled with mold. The linen were dirty. Very cold with no heating. It was so cold that we could not sleep. Terribile toilet, It was impossible to flush It. All of this for AN High price for Sri Lanka standard

Very big property

When we arrived the price was different to booking but that is our fault for net checking the confirmation email. However the residence was filthy with stains and dusty. My wife and kids have asthma and this didn’t make it any better. The host only arrived initially for payment did not give us any sort of contact details to call him during our stay. We didn’t have hot water in two of the showers and we couldn’t shower properly. No mini table was available the kettle and cups were placed on the dirty chairs. We didn’t receive any additional resources such as toothpaste or body wash for our stay. Although we can’t late host didn’t help us with arrangements of our food or even give us suitable options. He knows we are tourists and he telling us to just call for pizza. He also didn’t come in the morning to check on us or even ask how anything was. We were all very disappointed in the stay.

Il personale carissimo, gentile e disponibile. La città è veramente una chicca, un volo in un dimensione storica dello Sri Lanka, ben diversa da tutto il resto. Di fatto anche alloggiare nei cottage tipicamente inglesi fa il suo che… vista sulla vallata e risveglio con scimmiette sul terrazzo.

Purtroppo il cottage è un po’ vecchio, ammuffito e andrebbe sistemato perché la notte è stata complessa con tanta umidità e il freddo che incombeva. Un po’ di lavoretti per renderlo più caldo.

The room we had booked had been mysteriously double booked so we were put in an unfinished new block. Cold and damp, no heating. Kettle in one room but no cups or tea/coffee.

L’état de l’établissement est déplorable, les chambres sont salles, les murs moisis et une odeur d’humidité très forte. Les toilettes sentent très mauvais Les draps sont tachés ainsi que les serviettes qui sont aussi troués, nous avons dû demander à en changer. L’hôte vous installe rapidement à votre arrivée pour ne plus vous adresser la parole. Ils viennent cependant toquer à votre porte dès 10h pour vous demander de les payer Vraiment un établissement à fuir

Best shower we have had in Sri Lanka! Very warm and amazing pressure. The bed was super comfortable and it had an amazing view. The family who owns this place are so lovely and speak good English especially the dad who lived in England for a bit. We got super muddy on our day tour of nuwara eliya and the mum wash our clothes for free for us, super sweet. There’s a little short cut to the city centre, 10 minute walk. Safe place to park out tuktuk aswel. Don’t listen to the people saying it’s run down, it’s not at all.

Because of how damp it was outside our bathroom was never dry but that’s it !

La vue était magnifique, le cadre splendide, et le logement très calme, entouré de petits jardins fleuris. Bien que le logement soit très excentré, nous avons facilement pu rejoindre le centre ville à pieds par les "shortcuts". Nos hôtes étaient sympathiques, mais nous ne les avons vus qu'à l'arrivée et au départ. Nous avons regretté de ne pas avoir pu échanger davantage avec eux, contrairement à ce que les commentaires précédents laissaient présager...

Nous n'avions aucun numéro de téléphone pour échanger et nos questions posées à nos hôtes via le mail de Booking sont restées sans réponse encore à ce jour ! Ce n'était pas la pleine saison et nous avons un peu eu l'impression d'avoir été oubliées... Heureusement que nous avons réussi à nous faire d'autres contacts sur place pour nous aider et nous conseiller pour nos visites sur place et la suite de notre séjour ! Nous avons également eu un peu froid dans le logement, il y avait une ouverture sous la porte-fenêtre qui laissait entre l'air frais et nous n'avions pas de couverture supplémentaire.

Le logement est très beau de l’extérieur et le personnel qui nous a accueilli était très agréable et sympathique.

Cependant, la chambre n’est pas du tout entretenue.. Taches sur les draps, une odeur forte d’humidité ou d’urine de chat, moisissures sur les murs et sol gondolé, peu d’équipement dans la chambre (bouilloire mise à disposition mais pas de tasses ni de thé ou café). Les murs sont mal insonorisés et l’on entend ce que disent les personnes des chambres au-dessus. Dommage il y a un vrai potentiel..

View from the balcony was amazing. Some morning monkeys came to the balcony what was nice) Location is very comfortable, - the house is just within walking distance from the city centre. The place have a beautiful flower’s garden.

High humidity in the room which caused mould in bathroom - it’s common for Sri Lanka but need to be fixed 🙏🏻

Très bien situé. Marche facile pour aller en ville. Chambre propre et douche chaude. Par contre, la porte de chambre reste ouverte jusqu’à notre arrivée donc plusieurs moustiques réussis à entrer. La dame nous avait organisé un taxi pour nous rendre à la gare.

Host was lovely, very friendly and accommodating and offered us lots of hot drinks. Comfortable beds with warm bedding for the colder climate. Nice view from window of valley, walkable via footpath into the town. Parking available. Good price.

A little bit of damp in the room, but I can imagine the buildings struggle in the cold, wet but humid climate.

Heerlijk verblijf met spectaculair uitzicht! Je loopt in 10 minuten naar het centrum van de stad. Onze gastvrouw was ontzettend aardig en zorgde goed voor ons. Zij gaf ons veel tips voor de omgeving. Aanrader!
