Somerset Damansara Uptown is strategically located in the heart of Uptown and is just short walk to eateries and offices. In particular it is located next to Starling Mall and there is a direct connection from the hotel into the mall on Level 3.

The place for breakfast. Had breakfast and after it, i took 2 small croissant that I couldn't finish eating as I got to rush back for a meeting. The waiter stopped n said I cannot take it out. Tried telling him it was just a small pastry and hotels do allow it to be taken and it s not wet food or in a big quantity. He still insisted n I left the thing wrapped in a tissue there n walked out. Cheapskate and unprofessional to take the small thing that was part of my own food and it s a shame to take it back and wonder what would they do with it. Will never go back to this place for breakfast again and I didn't have breakfast for free there. Somerset should just give us a breakfast voucher so we can have breakfast at in the mall which has other restaurants to dine for their breakfast package. Even in 5 star hotels, other food are restricted to be taken out but a small pastry from your own plate will not be an issue . A horrible customer service!!

Easy access to shops and restaurants within walking distance. The room is clean. Self laundry is available in the hotel.

We had the option of placing the wooden block on our beds to indicate when we didn’t need the sheets changed (we opted to not change sheets and towels daily to save the environment) but this was ignored and sheets and towels were changed daily.

The apartment itself was clean and amenities was just right. The receptionist on duty was helpful and attentive.

There is a certain kind of mouldy smell at the ground lobby and lifts. Somerset needs to pay attention to this.

Pas d'eau en bouteille. Très pénible d'aller en chercher dans le couloir. La télévision qui s'allume a chaque fois qu'on rentre dans la chambre. La clim mal réglé et direct sur le lit. Le sèche cheveux qui ne marche pas. Le petit déjeuner a l'extérieur dans un centre commercial

The room has very large, clean and well equipped. Very good quality throughout. We asked for a quiet room and it was very quiet. Above a large shopping mall. Many restaurants in the mall and nearby. Some good bats too.

Lovely stay, convenient location surrounded by tons of food. Navigating there was easy, staff were helpful and friendly. The shampoo and soap provided were of amazing quality and smelled great! Loved that they were as eco-friendly as they could be by providing water-pitchers and cutleries. Kitchen was thoroughly prepared for any form of cooking and the room had all the amenities necessary to stay.

Some fixtures were a bit loose in the room. Bathroom wastepaper bin was slippery and difficult to use. Sofa cushions were a little sunken and the comforters did feel as soft as other hotels.

Air-con was set to a fixed temperature that was not cool enough for comfortable stay. Air-con was not adjustable to be lowered for decent comfort.

More guidance in advance that to drive to the hotel car park requires passing through 2 barriers.

A nice change from our usual hotel. Spacious unit enough for 2 pax. Staff at the hotel are friendly. The hotel is supporting sustainability but not enough information on how the guest can help eg. Change of sheets and towels etc. Shopping mall is connected to the building, though is not big as compared to 1 utama mall but can find essential shops like supermarket, pharmacy food court, bakery, restaurants and cafes. .Plenty of eateries eg village park nasi lemak and massage places are around the area.

The apartments are getting a little dated and needs some minor repairs / upgrades. Our couches had some suspicious stains from previous guests.

Front desk staff were attentive, polite and helpful.

This is my location of choice. Perfect place for rendezvous with friends at the Starling Mall just a step away from the Hotel Lift Lobby.

I had a really great stay at Somerset Damansara Uptown Petaling Jaya! The location was perfect and my workplace was right next door, which made everything super easy and convenient. The room was spacious, cosy, and very comfortable. I also really enjoyed the facilities, everything was clean, well-maintained, and made my stay even better. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I’d definitely stay here again!

Beside a big mall with loads of food options. Nearby has some nice food. Room is big, comes with a kitchenette, living room, toilet.

Only have one small pack of tissue in the big room. A bit hard to get grab out of the hotel in the morning, inconvenient.

I continue returning to Somerset Uptown for the same reason due to the spaciousness of the apartment room, amenities at Starling Mall and in the vicinity and the professional service shown at the reception.

Hiccup with my booking and another guest which resulted in the other guest being given keys to my room even though I had checked in earlier. System should have alerted staff that room was already occupied. The staff apologised for mistake but please have system in place so it does not happen again

Location - fantastic. The on-ground staff (the ones opening doors, leading taxis, etc) were so helpful and friendly. Super convenient for Starling Mall enthusiasts. Also, whoever cleaned rooms - extremely trustworthy and I hope your pillows are always cool.

This was my second visit to the property. I appreciated being upgraded to a double-room apartment for a reasonable additional fee. The room was spacious and well-maintained, with clean amenities and a convenient location. Most of the facilities were in good working condition, though one of the rain showers was malfunctioning. Overall, I was pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the space.

Despite the property being decent, my overall experience was extremely disappointing—primarily due to the way the front desk staff handled my check-in and inquiries. The staff lacked basic customer service skills, responding with repeated “no”s to every question without any intention to help, unless pushed hard to take action. The most unacceptable part was the attempt to overcharge me for bringing two pets. The standard room rate was RM800 per night, but the staff quoted me a total of RM1600 for a single-night stay—essentially trying to double the price. When I asked for a breakdown, I was told there was a 10% surcharge per pet. However, basic math shows that 10% of RM800 is RM80—not another RM800. When I challenged the charge, the staff gave vague and inconsistent justifications, saying, “That’s the property’s policy.” It was only after I showed proof of a previous stay—where I was charged RM180 for 2 nights with the same pets—that he reluctantly agreed to apply the same charge. Even that didn’t make sense, as this stay was only for one night. It was already past 10:30 PM when I arrived with my family, and instead of a smooth check-in, I had to argue and justify myself over an illogical and exploitative fee. The whole process felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of guests—especially those with pets who are left with little choice late at night. I left feeling scammed, exhausted, and completely disrespected. This level of dishonesty and poor service is unacceptable, and unless there is serious improvement in staff conduct and transparency in pricing. The frontline is good, but lack necessary skills to understand customer point of view. I will not be returning.

Great location, very spacious area. We were grateful they allowed us to have late checkout. Checkin was fairly smooth. However one of the toilet seats was quite worn out.

Great service, and excellent hotel. All the staff were helpful from people to help with luggage, reception and house keeping. Good location great room. Only negative is breakfast - provided by third party restaurant in the attached mall. It was ok, staff there were very helpful, not perhaps quality that I would expect from an otherwise excellent place.
