Nice Place, Great Host. Good place to visit one of the caves. Absolutely recommendable.

The hosts were very friendly, and the breakfast was good. The location was perfect! It was a clean and great place to stay!

Very friendly and helpful hosts and a charming environment of small houses/cabins hidden among vegetation. My cozy cabin (number 6) was a standalone, so it was very quiet - I enjoyed listening to the birdsong in the nearby trees! Good heating for the winter time, and although the bathroom was compact, the shower was nice and spacious and had good water pressure. Perfect location if you want to visit caves, with multiple destinations within walking distance, and let's face it, why else would you go to Waitomo! 😄 I appreciated the option for a curry for dinner, since there aren't that many restaurants around and open in the low season.

My cabin was rather sparsely furnished; I would've liked to have a luggage rack or somewhere other than the floor to keep my bag. The bathroom had the tiniest sink, making it a challenge to get water for making tea. Breakfast was quite limited (although to be fair, this is made clear in the description), and the butter/spread containers that were shared by different visitors did not seem entirely hygienic (there were traces of jam/vegemite mixed in from previous days).

Difficult to find in the dark

I had a wonderful stay at Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge and couldn't recommend it more highly. The lodge is lovely, comfortable and very well located for exploring Waitomo, but what really made my stay special was the kindness and hospitality of the hosts. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to help me organise transport and make the most of my time in the area, which I particularly appreciated as I was travelling without a car. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and everything felt welcoming and very well cared for. I genuinely felt looked after throughout my stay.

Can suggest if possible to put microwave to the room it self . And some Plates and spoon , pork and knife .and place to wash our Dishes. Can I suggest also a little bit bigger Table to eat .

Hele vriendelijke ontvangst en lekker ontbijt. De plek is super, vlakbij de Waitomo grotten. Tegen betaling kun je ook een diner gebruiken. Wij hebben op loopafstand bij een restaurant gegeten.

The hospitality and welcome. The owners, Munci and Kunal, were so accommodating. We arrived late and they prepared us wonderful (pre-ordered) curries. They gave us some advice for our travels around NZ and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was simple but with plenty of choice. Only 5 minutes from the Caves. For me, what I’ll remember most about this, apart from the hospitality, was the view of the Milky Way!

Cleaning, bro yous need to use CLR in shower and bathroom walls use a tooth brush for detailed clean in shower. It will get all that black stuff out of the little spaces. Also no curtain on the door . Also i noticed you guys dont have extractor fan in bathroom this will also help with cleaning and keep ur bathrooms from water damage.

Hosts were beautiful! Rooms were lovely and had plenty of beds for our family of 5. The included breakfast was yummy! Felt very homey!

The hotel was in an excellent location, within walking distance of a cafe and the Waitomo museum. The staff were extremely accommodating after our dinner plans fell through and there was nowhere to eat.

We loved our room. It was quaint and warm on a cold evening. The hosts were kind and lovely and very informative about the area.

Sehr netter Host! Die Lage traumhaft. Aufgrund der Nachsaison total ruhig. Wir hatten ein Zimmer in der oberen Etage mit wunderbaren Ausblicken (mehrere Fenster). Das Vogelgezwitscher am Morgen war toll.

THE LOCATION WAS BRILLIANT FOR VISITING THE GLOWWORM CAVES. WE ARRIVED EARLY WHICH WAS NO PROBLEM AT ALL AND MEANT WE COULD TAKE UP THE OFFER OF A CURRY FOR EVENING MEAL. ITS A MUST FOR ALL VISITORS, VERY TASTY. THE ROOM WAS CLEAN BUT IN NEED OF UPDATING HOWEVER WE LEARNT THAT THE OWNERS HAD NOT LONG TAKEN THE BUSINESS OVER AND WERE IN THE PROCESS OF SORTING THINGS OUT.

THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WE DID NOT LIKE. OWNERS WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. FOOD FOR EVENING MEAL AND BREAKFAST WAS PLENTIFUL AND TASTY. OUR ONLY ISSUE WAS THAT THE ROOM WAS A LITTLE TIRED BUT IS BEING ADDRESSED. WE WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GUEST LODGE TO EVERYONE

Comfortable, homely rooms, friendly, helpful staff and close to the caves and a restaurant. Complementary continental breakfast was also very welcome.

Parking was a bit inconvenient outside the lodge, but we could unload our luggage close to the room before moving the car.

The room was small but functional for one night. Breakfast was served in the morning. The host was very nice to accomodate breakfast for us a few minutes early so we could get to a tour down the road. Thank you.

Wir hatten das Zimmer Nr 1 im Obergeschoss. Es war über eine Außentreppe erreichbar, geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Es gab einen Kühlschrank und einen Wasserkocher auf dem Zimmer. Die Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich und das Frühstück in Buffetform nett angerichtet. Man erreicht das Waitomo Touristencenter auch zu Fuß. Gegenüber der Unterkunft ist ein nettes Café - man kann aber auch vorab ein Abendessen (Indian Curry) in der Unterkunft vorbestellen (30NZ$ pP). Für unseren Aufenthalt hat Preis-Leistung absolut gestimmt.

Location excellent for proximity to Caves and walks. Owner Manci was very personable and made us feel welcome. Gave us local information.

Rooms were very small and cramped. Pathways and driveway fairly precipitous. Would be no good for anyone with mobility issues

We booked due to the good location close to Waitomo caves. The family running the accommodation were friendly and helpful. We were loaned towels for our black water rafting. Washing and drying facilities afternoon and early evening. Shower was the best we've had for powerful jets and water

Room 5 is quite tired. The walls were fibre board and there was quite a bit of noise from things going on around the site. There was an odd smell in the room that I couldn't locate

Apartment was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owner was lovely, made some great suggestions of things to do locally which i wasn't aware of, and offered a home cooked evening meal.

Breakfast could have included slightly more options, but it wasn't a big issue.

Friendly and welcoming owner, Good continental breakfast provided in comfortable dining area, close to Waitomo Caves The owner contacted us to offer evening meal (curry) the day before arrival but we had already booked at the HuHu restaurant which is on the opposite side of the road

Booked Room 5 which we found cramped and in need of updating, however the owner explained there were larger and more comfortable rooms but on our visit the guest house was fully booked.

Wonderful hosts, beautiful outlook, comfy bed, lovely room and included breakfast. Also there was a home cooked dinner available. Would stay there again.

Host very friendly. You must book a curry meal, it was delicious. We were in room 1 and it felt like we were in a tree house. Great location to visit the caves.

Manci was very friendly and welcoming and her mum and young daughter added to the family feel. They clearly care that it runs well. Breakfast was excellent. Location is brilliant for the caves and Kiwi house. Room is well laid out with good use made of the space. We had a view out to the hills.

This was the perfect place to stop after the caves! The host was extremely welcoming. Our room was very nice and clean. Outside there was a private seating area and beautiful flowers. I was very impressed! 10/10!

TV was a little small and did not work properly

My son and I stayed for several days in two of the accumulations. He was in #7, which was really spacious and had a large separate bath, with a limited number of steps to the room. I was in #3 with a really nice view and close to the laundry. Manci and family were warm and welcoming hosts. I enjoyed our time with them. The location was wonderful. Close to the caves, and walking distance to food.

It didn’t bother me, but if you have limited mobility you might find it a little difficult - some rooms more than others, so contact them to see which would be suitable.
