Taleju Boutique Hotel

The place is very welcoming, quiet and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food (breakfast) was modest but delicious and the prices are very affordable. A big plus is the wellness center inside the hotel where you can get excellent relaxing massages. It is located in the center of the Thamel from where you can easily walk to some shops and good restaurants. We had really enjoyable stay in this hotel.

Excellent boutique hotel with spacious and clean rooms. Very courteous and friendly staff. Centrally located with stone throwaway distance from Central district. Excellent food and mix veg curry with roti is yummy. Paneer butter masala is a must try. Excellently done mushroom soup is on the top. Very calm and safe for any tourist. Your trekking pain melts away with Ms. Anu's magical deep tissue massage. Overall a great value for money and really enjoyable stay.

The approach road is a little narrow but not an issue. You will get a taxi at the door step.

Amazing location , beautifully made and maintained , the hotel staff was very hospitable ..must stay property in Kathmandu . Also the food from the in-house restaurant is super delicious .

Staff are very nice, kind, and friendly. The manager is very helpful for us to arrange activities including a day trip around Kathmandu. Restaurant/bar is so good that we came back to the hotel for lunch/dinner instead of eating somewhere else.

It was my second stay at Taleju Boutique Hotel and there will be a third one hopefully in the future if I ever return to Kathmandu. The hotel has the best location at Thamel. On the one hand you will be two minutes walk away from all the restaurants and night life, while on the other hand you will enjoy a peaceful stay in a beautiful serene hotel located on a quiet side street. The service is top-notch. All the employees there, from the receptionists to the cleaning ladies, guards and restaurant staff are extremely curteous and professional. The hotel is very well maintained, clean and the rooms are just great. I stayed on the sixth floor with an incredible view over town and a huge terrace attached. Spent beautiful peaceful evenings having tea there. I couldn't recommend the hotel enough!

Ontzettend lief en vriendelijke personeel, je voelt je er echt thuis! Ook hebben ze een heel fijne binnentuin, waarin je helemaal niet het gevoel hebt dat je middenin het drukke Thamel zit. De kamers zijn ruim en schoon.

Żona powiedziała, że menadżer ładnie pachnie. Świetna lokalizacja. Piękny wystrój ogrodu. Ładne przestronne pokoje. Przemiła obsługa Pani manager, Panie z recepcji ,kierowca i Pan ochroniarz przy drzwiach. Z mojej strony dodam wspaniały dach na piwo i papierosa, woda w pokoju, piwo w minibarku i nie płacisz sztabkami złota. Wspaniałe miejsce! Czułem że wypoczywam w tym hotelu. Głos ptaków budził codziennie rano.

We loved our stay at Taleju Boutique Hotel, it was amazing value for money and the location was walking distance from shops, restaurants, cafes, lots of good bookstores and tourist sites. The highlight was the staff who were super friendly and went out of their way to help us with both sightseeing in Kathmandu and in preparation for our trekking. The courtyard for dining was beautiful and food/breakfast was great. Would highly recommend for a budget friendly and safe option for Kathmandu.

I think this must be my third or fourth time staying at Hotel Taleju in Thamel, and every single time I come back to Kathmandu, I honestly don’t even consider other options anymore. I’m completely Nepal-addicted, I love trekking, and Hotel Taleju has become my home away from home in Kathmandu. The location is absolutely perfect: right in the heart of Thamel, close to everything, yet peaceful enough to relax after long trekking days. The staff is one of the biggest reasons why I keep returning — they are genuinely warm, welcoming and caring, and every time they make me feel like family rather than just a guest. The breakfast is lovely, but what makes it truly special is having it in their beautiful inner garden while listening to the birds singing. It’s pure magic and such a peaceful way to start the day in chaotic Kathmandu. The restaurant food is also very good, and the overall value for money here is honestly incredible. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, very clean and exactly what you need before and after trekking adventures. I also tried the spa twice and was genuinely impressed — absolutely up to standard and perfect for recovering after long hikes in the mountains. One of the things I appreciate the most is how helpful they are with trekkers: they safely store your luggage while you disappear into the Himalayas for 10–12 days, and they always welcome you back with a smile when you return exhausted and dusty from the trails. They often even include airport pick-up service, which makes arriving in Kathmandu so much easier and stress-free. I truly cannot recommend Hotel Taleju enough. For me, Kathmandu means Hotel Taleju.

I stayed at Hotel Taleju twice within less than two weeks — before and after my trek — and I can honestly say it confirmed all the reasons why I keep choosing this place whenever I return to Kathmandu. For trekkers, this hotel is simply perfect. They safely stored my luggage while I was away in the mountains for many days, and coming back here afterwards felt incredibly comforting. The atmosphere is warm, peaceful and genuinely welcoming. The location in Thamel is excellent: central, convenient and close to everything, but the hotel itself still feels calm and relaxing. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable, with great beds and everything needed to properly rest after long travel days or trekking adventures. One of my favorite moments every morning was breakfast in the garden courtyard. Sitting there with coffee while hearing birds singing in the background is such a beautiful and unexpected experience in Kathmandu. The staff deserves a special mention because they are truly kind and attentive. They helped with everything, always smiling, and made me feel cared for during both stays. I also tried the spa treatments after trekking and they were wonderful — exactly what your body needs after days in the Himalayas. Considering the quality of the rooms, the service, the restaurant, the airport pick-up and the overall experience, the value for money is exceptional. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kathmandu, especially fellow trekking lovers.

i loved the garden restaurant, an oasis in thamel! very friendly staff, i felt very welcomed and got an upgrade on my room aswell. there is a beautiful terrace with amazing views, would definitely recommend !

The location is great for just everything from good local cuisine restaurants to shoppings and convenience. The rooms and facility is clean and quiet. We were on the courtyard side. It is easy to arrange tours with kind and highly knowledgeable guide like Mr. Hari or multiple day activities up to Anapourna base camp by HL through the desk mgr, Januka. Great menu choices and breakfast is available at convenient hours.

The bathroom was not so great for the shower stands by the toilet seat and sink. While a sliding curtain helps the bathroom get flooded and it can be slippery if you are not careful. Faucets knobs are reversed both sink and shower fixture. There is no appropriate bath towel holders. Bus ride to Pokhara took 8 hours while booked in a comfortable bus. There are plenty of road works half way through which cause heavy slowdown or just being stuck up to 35 minutes.

Great location, tranquil gardens and friendly staff

The location is tucked away in the Tamel neighborhood of Kathmandu. It is very clean. The rooms are basic and clean. The staff was very attentive. The food at the restaurant was very good. Considering the noise and chaos that’s going on outside, the hotel is peaceful and quiet. The patio was beautiful, and our room, being on the 4th floor, had access to a delightful rooftop patio. Really wonderful. Oh, and the security guy out front was very friendly and a pleasure to work with.

The rooms are very basic, but we expected that. There was a private bathroom connected to our room and was adequate. Not fancy, but adequate.

There’s not one thing that I didn’t like about this place. From staff (THE LOVELIEST PEOPLE EVER!!!), to location, cleanliness, architecture, food, everything!

Love the peaceful courtyard tucked away amongst the hustle n bustle of Kathmandu. Easy access to all there is in Thamel District.

Fabulous atmosphere and quiet down a side street. Staff very helpful and courteous.

In the old part of the hotel there isn’t a lift so a climb to the forth floor.

The starr were so incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our stay from the men on the front door to the barmen (Roshan). Grest room and value for money too.

La vétusté et le manque de prises électriques. Le lit un peu petit pour le standard de la chambre. Le manque de vrai café au petit déjeuner. La rue entièrement dédiée aux hôtels.

Sehr gute Lage in einer ruhigen und sicheren Straße am Rand vom Stadtteil Thamel. Das Personal war stets freundlich und zuvorkommend. Zimmer sehr groß und daher ideal für Trecker mit ihrem großen Gepäck. Gepäckaufbewahrung während unseres 11-tägigen Treks war kein Problem. Schöner Garten mit Bar. Kostenloser Flughafenservice! Behilflich beim Sightseeing (hatten sogar nen persönlichen Fahrer). Und das beste zum Schluss: Das Taleju-Team hat uns den Kontakt zur wohl besten Trekking-Agentur in Nepal (Nepal Trekking Experts) hergestellt! Können wir einfach jedem hinsichtlich Wandern in Nepal sehr empfehlen!

The staff were very helpful. The lady manager was very helpful to change our room since my wife had a health condition for which she couldn't climb stairs. She even gave two options to choose from. The room size is very nice and especially the rooms in the front building. Hot water was not at all a problem throughout our stay and the bathroom was spacious too. The staff at the restaurant were also very helpful

Die Türen lassen sich ein bisschen schwer schließen. Abends ist man dadurch unfreiwillig ein bisschen lauter, das sorgt für ein unangenehmes Gefühl gegenüber anderen Gästen. Andererseits ist das ja dann auch wieder "einheitlich".

This was my second stay in Taleju and I was even more impressed than before. Loved everything, from the friendly, professional staff to the attractive, characterful interior and perfect locality. Would love to visit again.
