Reviewed Aug 29, 2026I always stay at Valley Lodge when I’m in the area, mainly because the location is so convenient. It’s close to some great restaurants, shopping and all the amenities around Kloof, Hillcrest and the surrounding areas. The rooms are spacious and each has a small lounge area, which makes the stay feel much more comfortable than a typical hotel room. There’s secure on-site parking, and the property is gated, which is an added bonus. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful, and getting to the airport is straightforward via the M19. For me, it’s become a reliable home away from home — convenient, comfortable and well located for everything I need.
The shower over the bath made me a little nervous — it felt slippery despite the rubber mat, and the steep climb in and out of the bath felt like a bit of an expedition! And the height of the basin… was it designed by a giant? 😄 For anyone with mobility concerns, the bath setup could definitely be a little challenging.

The gravel stone paving is aesthetically pleasing, but not practical. You can end up walking on the beautiful lawn to avoid the gravel

Reviewed Jun 16, 2026The property was beautiful, clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We especially appreciated the honesty and kindness of the staff member who contacted us after we had accidentally left some belongings behind. Overall, it was a lovely stay.
The check-in experience could be improved. We arrived after hours at around 22:30 after a long drive from Johannesburg and felt that the late check-in was not handled as warmly as expected. Communication over the phone could have been a little more professional. While we understand that after-hours arrivals can be inconvenient, we felt that the staff members we spoke to did not seem particularly welcoming or happy about the late check-in arrangement.
