The unit needs urgent upgrade. On arrival window frame broken, extractor fan in bathroom not working, furniture needs URGENT attention and repairs. Floor cracked, Cornishes in room differ. Wardrobe and chest of drawers handles and fittings missing, not enough clothing hanging space in wardrobe.Water leakage in parking area. Floors very slippery when wet.

I think in summer the room needs AC or a fan. Did not notice any.

Reviewed May 4, 2026The under floor heating in the room was great during cold weather. The central location meant we could park our car for three days and walk to all of the events, shops and restaurants.
The staircase up to the first floor is a bit narrow when carrying a suitcase.

I think the TV can be position in spot so that you can watch from the comfort of your bed because you there to relax. I also think the restaurant below must keep to their word when music will stop otherwise, I have no complaints

Reviewed Jan 17, 2026The Red Mountain House was plum centre in Clarens and located above a traditional Italian Restaurant which was equally impressive. Despite the busy season and centrality of the place, it was quite on the night we stayed there. The bed was comfortable and spacious. An added bonus was the huge balcony overlooking the park - Room 8.
Two areas that could be improved! The TV was poorly place on a low coffee table and not at all easy to view - particularly lying in bed! The shower tiles could do with a bit of de-moulding.

It was unbelievably noisy. Our room was situated on top of a restaurant in the front of the building. The noise from the restaurant was hectic. No possibility of an afternoon nap. The late evenings were difficult as the noise went on until the last staff member locked up. It is not the place to stay if you want a rest.

Reviewed May 3, 2025Violet was amazing!! Since it was my wife's birthday, I requested flowers, champagne and a chocolate cake to be placed in our room as a surprise. We received a bottle of Pongraz champagne and a lovely cake for which I paid a very fair price, and a bunch of wild flowers. Loved the whole experience!! Thank you Violet and Red Mountain! We will certainly visit again!

Reviewed May 2, 2025Clarens is a busy little town with lots of shops and eating spots. So walking is essential. Position of this accommodation is certainly the best in the town. Easy to access restaurant s and the centee square. Rooms are large and spacious.
Being in the centre of town makes it quite noisy at night. But restaurants close by 9 pm. So everything settles by 10pm

The room was on top of the entrance to the restaurant. Smokers will smoke just outside the door or on the veranda. The smell of smoke was quite disturbing. The bed was a bit hard.

We enjoyed our lovely balcony in the sun under the big tree while observing the passersby. Bocca di Lupo once again accommodated our food order which was Italian cuisine. Dont book the room if you want to be in a quiet area.
Could do with some space to put our stuff down - both in the bathroom and bedroom. The room needs a shelf/server at the door for bags, coats and travel gear.
