Convenient location (short walk to the sea), a bright & comfy room, helpful staff & good breakfast options.
Sehr freundliches Personal und äußerst entgegenkommend. Zu Fuß an die Promenade gegangen. Sehr schöne Parkanlage gleich neben dem Hotel. Gerne wieder!
Sehr kleines Badezimmer. Hier merkt man die Geschichte dieses Hauses.
Very clean , comfortable, and easy reach of town
There’s was nothing not to like
Excellent , happy and friendly, well organised staff. Generous and fresh breakfast.
one chair with a ripped seat cover , just remove it .
Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds. Lovely dining room and Lounge . Beautiful gardens. Our room was spotless and bed very comfortable. Staff very professional, friendly and helpful.
Has no lifts so a lot of stairs. ( It does state this on the website and wasn’t that much of an issue but needs to be taken into account if staying) Also not right by beach so a sort walk . Ok if no mobility issues .
Breakfast is one of the best you can buy. Good food, well cooked ,nice staff and a beautiful hotel. The staff can't do enough to help. Really relaxed. We go back time and time again.we have tried other well know hotels but this one far outshines all of them.
To be honest, there is nothing they need to change.
Very good value evening meals 🥳
Delicious, lots of choice, well cooked
Friendly staff, good food, very quiet location will be going back
Nothing
Friendly, helpful attitude of most of the staff.
Breakfast was varied and excellent. Super food. Evening dinner - wonderful. Staff friendly and nothing too much trouble.
It would be nice to have a small fridge inn the room.
The room was comfortable, clean and had a nice aspect over the beautiful gardens. The dinner was exceptionally good, service was quick and the dining room was lovely, we were very impressed
Location
Everything!
Nothing at all.
Hotel was splendid, room was comfortable, breakfast was delicious & plenty of it. The staff were friendly & helpful.
There was nothing I didn’t like about the hotel.
The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. The evening meal was superb and service was provided by the extremely pleasant staff
Car parking the gardens and its location.
Breakfast coffee could have been hhotter.
Edificio storico, camera accogliente e pulita.
Stanza al piano 1 senza ascensore (un pó faticosa con i bagagli)
Peaceful hotel spotlessly clean and fabulous breakfast.
We weren't told before arrival that it was a card only hotel sadly we had been to bank and taken our spending money out not happy about that.
Beautiful gardens, gorgeous historic building, an oasis of calm and tranquility for a mini break in August. And only a short walk along the Sid to the beach.
Nothing
Very pleasant surroundings and very comfortable accommodation. Excellent food. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff.Quiet location but within easy walking distance of local town & beach.
Absolutely nothing. Everything was most satisfactory from our initial welcome to our departure.
The location was excellent, lots of parking places and the owners were very helpful and polite. The food was well cooked and.the menu was excellent.
The portions were too big as I could not eat every thing on my pla
Everything inc the chickens! Quiet but fairly central location. Access to quirky residential roads and thew cinema which might otherwise be overlooked. Caring and observant housekeeping staff
A pool would be more than welcome and would elevate Hunters Moon to top hotel in Sidmouth given the lovely grounds that no other hotel has. I think we will also go for one of the ground floor rooms in the main house next time - I noticed one with French doors opening onto the grounds, must be very popular
Lovely quiet hotel, amazing food (make sure you book an evening meal!) and easy and spacious parking. We had a large room with huge bathroom, and lovely terrace overlooking the gardens. Can't fault our stay, we shall stay again. A bit of a walk to town and beach, but we were happy to do this.
Nothing, all good.
Attentive staff. Breakfast had a full, tasty selection.
Can’t think of anything.
The breakfast was very good, grounds and reception area, very nice.
No fan in the room & no lift, bathroom needs an uplift as very dated & tired.
Location excellent, Room comfortable and relaxing, Dinner excellent.
Nothing
Lovely building set in a beautiful part of Sidmouth. Free easy parking. Good breakfasts.
Noise from neighbouring rooms. We were in the main building. Didn’t see a bar.
Lovely building and lovely decor. In a great location, quiet but within an easy walk of the town centre and seafront. Ample parking and great food.
Nothing
Staff, breakfast , the room , location
The pillows were hard for me that is the only thing , will go again
This is a real gem situated in a beautiful, quiet location, a short walk from the seafront. The hotel has lovely gardens with access to The Byes. The staff were all outstanding - friendly, polite, efficient and helpful - nothing was ever too much trouble. Breakfasts and evening meals were excellent with a different menu every evening. There is plenty of seating in the lounge area and outside on the terrace and in the gardens. There was also plenty of parking. A very peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
Nothing
Location and setting very clean staff very friendly and helpful Well cooked food Very quiet
Everything was perfect
Good breakfast. Close to fantastic park
Nothing
Very central, easy to get into Sidmouth town In a pretty garden, very clean, excellent staff & a lovely breakfast
The service is phenomenal, the food is incredible, it's our third time here and it's just so beautiful. The extra details really just add an extra something to the stay - lemon infused water on the lawn, the white cloth table service, the beautifully kept gardens, the amazing staff. Would recommend to anyone wanting a really luxury stay.
Everything, great room , good food and lovely staff
Nothing to not like
Very comfortable and excellent service snd staff
I have been staying in hotels around the world, both on business and for leisure, for more years than I care to remember. Every so often, I am fortunate enough to discover a true hidden gem. The Hunters Moon, Sid Road, Sidmouth, Devon EX10 9AA, is undoubtedly one of them. Value for Money The room rates are exceptionally reasonable, offering outstanding value for the quality of the experience. Next time, I will certainly book directly with the hotel for what I understand are even better rates. The Room My room was simply excellent. It was immaculately clean, thoughtfully designed, with plenty of conveniently placed power sockets, and a beautiful bathroom featuring both a superb bath and an excellent shower. Housekeeping was faultless, with the room serviced promptly at the same time each day. Parking There is ample free parking around the hotel, making arrival and departure completely stress-free. The Grounds The grounds are magnificent—beautifully maintained with numerous peaceful spots to sit and relax. If you enjoy a little putting, the hotel's own putting green is a delightful addition. The Food This is where The Hunters Moon truly excels. The evening menu changes daily, offering imaginative, fresh dishes prepared with obvious skill and care. Every meal I enjoyed was cooked to perfection. My sincere compliments to the chef, whose passion shines through every plate. Breakfast Breakfast is every bit as impressive. The choice is extensive, with genuinely fresh fruit, a superb Full English, traditional kippers, and an Eggs Benedict with ham that deserves a special mention—it was simply outstanding. The Staff A great hotel is defined by its people, and The Hunters Moon has assembled an exceptional team. Every member of staff we encountered was welcoming, enthusiastic, professional and genuinely happy to help. Their warmth and constant smiles made an already wonderful stay even more memorable.
Leaving.
It was all very good the staff were very helpful it was very restful evere
Everything was lovely
Lovely hotel & the staff were all really helpful & friendly Brilliant location for access to town whilst feeling like a quiet country hotel
Windows only opened very slightly & it was extremely hot, I appreciate the H&D concerns but a bit more than 4" would be good.
Loved the hotel , location ,easy reach to Sidmouth town wonderful food and service and surroundings
very helpful staff
late start for breakfast
Le style historique de la maison principale, même si la chambre était dans un agrandissement et le jardin autour, très beau et grand.
Lovely quiet hotel. Well situated for town and the beach. Good parking and lovely grounds. Very peaceful location next to the Byes. Our breakfast and evening meal was exceptional. Lovely, friendly staff, made our stay very enjoyable. We have another holiday already booked.
Slightly dated bathroom but not really a problem. We were up on the top floor in the roof. Excellent views, but very hot. We did have some very warm weather during our stay though, so difficult for anyone to stay cool. Would have loved a mini fridge to keep drinks cold.
Lovely food at dinner & good choice at breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location in extensive grounds, with a putting green! Fabulous Georgian building.
10 minutes walk to the front - no problem for us but maybe for others. Likewise, room was on the top floor up several stairs.
Excellent breakfast and dinner
The bathroom was rather small for a double room
Lovely relaxing stay at Hunters Moon. Quiet, convenient , everything you could wish for. Breakfast was fantastic.

Stayed at the property some 17 years ago. The owners have made much investment in their continued pursuit of excellence with the Hotel’s level of standards throughout . The hotel has such amazing grounds that can only enhance one’s stay. The room was found to be very relaxing and comfortable. The restaurant was very clean throughout with a brilliant daily choice of food . The standard was found to be at a very high consistent level that was well above expectations. The team are well trained and make you so welcome during your stay. Strongly recommended .
The pillows were found to be in need of upgrading to something more comfortable. The TV often lost the sound on the BBC Chanel One.
Position Electric car charging points Clean
No staff about for several minutes when arrived Dinner extremely poor value and menu very old fashioned Whole house in a time warp of 1980’s. Some of it charming and appropriate to house but other things needed updating
Perfect location, beautiful hotel
Asked for rooms to be together weeks in advanced, total opposite end to each other. 1st room we had blind broken in bathroom with a window that people could see in, so asked to change rooms, 2nd room single beds, 3rd just a quick look over ,so we chose that room. Unpacked and had a proper look over, massive cobweb on the window, radiator boiling hot too touch and a sink really dirty underneath. This was £150 a night. Definitely not with the money and a very uncomfortable bed. Check out and not even asked about our stay or how it was
Excellent breakfast. Lovely location Evening meals excellent with very good range of choices
Location, Hotel splendid Geogian facade. Beautiful gardens with fresh herbs in the garden.
All very pleasant.
Wunderschön in einem kleinen Park gelegen, fußläufig zum Ort, der nicht so attraktiv ist. Aber viele Lokale. Best Fish and Chips ever im Marine!
Betten etwas weich.
Food was excellent, in both choice and quality. Staff were all very polite and efficient.
Dining room was fine but other public rooms need some attention - eg, the table & chairs in the bar. Bar room is the smallest I've ever been in, a party of 4-6 would fill it.
everything
nothing
Location was excellent beautiful grounds .
Twin beds were very uncomfortable. They were very old and tired. The mattresses were noisy and lumpy. They need replacing..
This is our third visit and things have not changed.
We could not find fault with the hotel, the weather could have been a little better but that did not stop us from from enjoying ourselves
A lovely old house, well maintained, fabulous gardens and in a quiet and convenient location. The staff were all very professional and a pleasure to deal with. A very good kitchen serving excellent home-cooked food. They were also happy to have our two dogs staying.
All good.
Location, breakfast, friendly staff
Room a bit airless and conscious of fellow guest in adjacent rooms.
Excellent staff

Old style comfort. Child free. Dog friendly. Lovely gardens.
Cooked breakfast small and poor quality.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Breakfast - lots of choice and a pleasant breakfast room. Comfortable bed and modern, clean bathroom. Lovely grounds and ideal location to walk into the town. Very quiet.
Not the fault of the hotel but it was very hot weather during our stay and the bedroom was too hot. This was to be expected in an older building with no air conditioning. Luckily, a fan was provided in the room which helped a little.
Food was excellent
Clean, peaceful, comfortable
Nothing
Excellent good choice of food
We had no problems
Nice location in a parkland within 10 minutes walk of Sidmouth
It felt rather sad..and frankly had the feel of a retirement home. I wouldn’t stay there again….No fault of the hotel, but I am not ready to stay in an old folks home yet.
This was our fourth stay at Hunters Moon and once again everything was excellent.Location is perfect set back from the main town are in a parkland .Bedrooms are spacious with modern facilities. All meals offer variety and wide choice and attractively presented Many of the guests have stayed their before which is an endorsement in itself. Ultimately it's the people who manage and work in the hotel that count and without exception are excellent..

all was ideal for what we expected, will return
bar area could have been better
It was in a good location and set in lovely grounds.
It was lovely but tired.
Great hotel, beautiful property, nice room and excellent food.
The room was a little light for sleeping with hall light and emergency escape lights keeping the room too light.
Lovely location and garden. Great breakfast. Interesting house.
Nothing
Breakfast was excellent, room was comfortable and the property itself was quite beautiful and very near the charming town of Sidmouth. We would stay there again.
No complaints about this one.
Excellent food,service

Beds very soft
Fabulous building and grounds. Excellent location for town and amenities.
All very good
Breakfast was excellent.
This is just a suggestion. Perhaps signing for drinks at the bar could save confusion when paying bill.
Good, plenty of variety
Bathroom needs updating. More bathrooms with walk in showers
Gardens
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food
Set in beautiful grounds, lots of parking & charging points in a great location. Great hard working staff.
Lovely stay, very friendly staff who really made the experience extra special. Great location, the park next door is lovely. Very good breakfast.
Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice and variety. Location, good within walking distance to most amenities, shops, eateries, beach etc
The hotel itself was abit tired. Noise from the floor above. The toilet bowl and toilet brush were not very clean.
The hotel is located in a beautiful small park, just outside the centre of Sidmouth. WE requested a twin room and got a nice and quiet room. Breakfast was good and the shower hot. Friendly staff.
As indicated by others, this is a hotel for older couples, but it guarantees a quiet and peaceful environment
Numerous charging points for our EV. Friendly welcoming staff. Good sized comfortable room, very clean as was all of the hotel. Really good breakfast options and the same at dinner with an extensive menu. In summary, highly recommended.
Nothing to complain about.
Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, comfortable room with everything working (eg hot water in bathroom, television etc). Easy access to town and beach. Rooms with bath available. We have visited several times before, as have most of guests.
Our expectations were met in full.
Very good
The hotel is in beautiful gardens and it’s a lovely walk into sidmouth. The rooms were clean and bright and the bed very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the whole stay was very relaxing.
There were no negatives and we will stay again at the hotel
Staff were really friendly and polite. Great location, parking available.
The staff, food, location, grounds.
Bathroom window didn't open which, together with the fan not working, made the room rather steamy. The bed was ok for me but too hard for my wife.
The whole of stay from beginning to end was lovely. The staff were excellent, attentive, efficient, our room was exceptional with lovely garden view, gardens were lovely such a peaceful place.

It’s situation and the historic connections. Beautiful gardens. A warm and friendly welcome from the staff. Breakfast was excellent.
Creaking floorboards above room 33.
Room was very comfortable, lovely beds. Bathroom was huge and though it was a shower over bath (not our favourite) it was P shaped with loads of space and strong hand holds. Having a small balcony with table and chairs overlooking the garden was a bonus. Breakfast was excellent - sensibly you choose items for a full English (inc fish) rather than barter.
Its a dog friendly hotel but you cannot take your furry friend in the restaurant so we couldn't eat there, though this wasn't a problem for us, plenty of eateries in Sidmouth! However, breakfast for us and our dog was served in the bar where there were only 2 tables...the first morning we had to wait 25 mins for a table :(
Food very good
We had to run the taps in room 14 for ages before they produced hot water
Everything about the hotel spot on.the food and the welcome and grounds was fantastic
Nothing
the room was pleasant, Parking was easy , easy to walk into Sidmouth. Staff were good
bathroom a bit tired. Main corridors of the hotel are also tired. The breakfast was ok but just ok.
Great room and location of hotel in relation to Sidmouth town centre. Very professional and efficient staff. Plenty of parking.
Could do with more lighting at off road access to hotel drive, as returning on foot after dark is not safem
Friendly staff. Easy parking (on the grass). Easy check in. Good breakfast. Nice grounds,
Rooms were a little tired but well enough appointed so perfectly acceptable.
Staff lovely. Pretty location. Very close to town centre. Lovely grounds. Warm hotel, everything worked. Comfortable. Quiet. Super breakfasts.
Tap a little stiff. Decor maybe a bit tired in places but these things didnt matter as so much was good.
