Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin We paid to upgrade to a suite and it was worth it. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a proper separate living area and good winter views. Lounge access was a highlight. Overlooking Harbin Ice and Snow World, the evening views were excellent. A great place to sit and warm up after being outside. Cherry, Kiki and Wendy looked after us very well throughout the stay. Service was attentive and friendly without being over the top. Food in the lounge offered a strong selection, and the à la carte options were a welcome addition. Overall, a very good stay and a solid choice when visiting Harbin in winter.

Stay was not long enough

Friendly F and B chef and staff who were very approachable and willing to deliver their best service. The room was comfortable and has a good selection of TV programs compared to other hotels. Bed was excellent sleep for our tiring trip. Worth the price.

Loved the Hotel

ทำเลดี นอนสบาย พนักงานดูแลดี

Gym, pool and 28th floor restaurant for food and drinks were spectacular.

The WiFi was very hit or miss, kept logging us back out and then giving errors. I used mobile data for the whole stay. The biggest problem unfortunately was the staff. First of all I requested their concierge service to pick us up when we arrived at the train station but they were not there / arrived late (the hotel couldn’t explain which). After phoning the number given and waiting in -20C for almost half an hour we had to get a taxi. They apologised and arranged the concierge for our departure free of charge though the driver was outwardly miserable and unfriendly. The check in and check out is one of the only times we interacted with the staff and showed the worst of them regrettably. Upon check in I was informed that (despite booking in advance and having made the deposit). The total for our stay was ¥20,000 instead of ¥14,000. After a lot of arguing they eventually agreed to charge the originally booked price and but still wanted a deposit of a further 50% on a separate credit card. Then we checked out they gave me another new bill saying yet again it was more with no explanation as to why and when asked just said the bill is this. They still have a massive hold on my credit card.

朝食が大変充実している。部屋もきれい。スタッフも親切。

Everything excellent

Excellent Basis to get around Harbin. Kind people.

The location is not bad and it’s quiet. The hotel has nice space in common area. The rooms are much older than the pictures shown on booking. The style indicates it was built around 15-20 years ago. But it is well maintained. The value of the money I’m not too sure. £150 per night is higher than usual as we came in a peak season. Usually it’s £90 which is a good value.

Hotel staff was very helpful in organising our activities. We needed to purchase additional suitcases and they even guided us through an online purchase which was in Mandarin. Breakfast selection was brilliant. Perfect location.

Great hotel

We were in Harbin for the Ice and Snow Festival. We were a cousins group of 10 people. First night, we had shabu shabu dinner in Ice Palace. It was a wonderful experience as the structure was built from ice. We had individual hot pot with a very generous serving of all kinds of meats, seafood, veggies and balls. The hotel rooms were very clean and luxurious with very comfortable beds, bath tubs, separate shower, spacious and with complete amenities. On our first night, we decided to go to the nearest mall. The concierge with the instruction from the very accommodating manager, Mr Luffy Jia, booked 3 cars to bring 10 of us to the nearest mall. He even advanced payment in our behalf. Then, he also gave us his We Chat contact. After the mall closed, we couldn't get a taxi ride back. I called the concierge for assistance. After a few minutes of not being able to book a return ride home, Mr Luffy Jia instructed his staff and drive to pick us up with their hotel van even it was already 10:00 pm from the mall. Thank you so much Mr Luffy Jia and your team for such a great service. Truly appreciate as it was soo cold, being -27 degrees and late that night. I highly recommend Shangri-la Songbei, Harbin to people planning to visit Harbin.

Staff are very accomodating

Staff are very helpful

The room smelled a little like smoke and was not the cleanest. However the staff is awesome and the property has multiple restaurants.

breakfast was good. but your location is a little inconvient. and your staff had better speak English.

Very very kind staff. i dont have Wechatpay for renting unbrella while i stay, but staff kindly help me to rent their own umbrella without pay. cleaner also super kind. She keep trying to giving me plenty of water with smile. Even she cannot speak english, i can see she is very professionl of her job.

Enlgish. They barely can speak english. its quite shock to me cos this hotel brand is famous enough internationally. Most of staff i experience only can speak little bit. Thanks to their kindness, i can stay without any problem, but still it's the thing i didn't expect.

It is a great experience to live here. Nice staff and quite.

good restaurant facilities..great views across the river... helpful staff..clean rooms, immaculate reception. ( really a couple of western TV channels and i wouldn't have chosen CNN as my news source!! Why not English national news as an option ?? Western media bias is very strong so more tempered or unbiased source of news would have been welcome

decor needs a little more attention..starting to look a little worn in small areas. Water drain sounds after toilet or shower.

Very close to Ice and Snow park! Highly reccommended!

There is another Shangri La in Harbin more centrally located but a bit older. This one has a good breakfast buffet and I acan recommend the ub sandwich and burger from the room service menu. Easy to get a Didi from here and it's roughly 30 min to get to the main attractions downtown, such as St Sophia Cathedral. Rooms spacious with fast WiFi, and staff was very attentive!

Dear Songbei Shangri-La, We thank you for your perfect service and delicious food, which impressed us deeply. We specially thank employees shelly, JoJo and Rose whom gave the most cooperation during the horizon club. Finally, we sincerely thank you for the supports from you and colleagues. Best wishes, Alex

Very disappointing, requested for non smoking room during booking, and re-emphasized for non smoking room at the front desk, but still being given a room with strong smoking smell. Very very bad experience and will not visit again.

It has snowed a little early this week in Harbin. It is a week of rather less upbeat at work. This is a relatively newer hotel than the one on the south of the river. Albeit less near to the city it prob means people are more patient with everything. Our corporate package seem to include buffer breakfast. Selection is fairly good. The surprisingly good bit is how sweet the staffs are. Shelly remembers customers’ needs and proactively ask me if I need lemon same as the day before. When going to a table that is nearly ready Jaime diligently cleans my table even though it seems to be already quite clean. Michelle from the entrance and coffee counter initiated a refill of coffee. Everyone seems to be enjoying their work at this already rather busy morning. The room i have faces the river. Unfortunately the TV channels are only local, I think since I gave up after a few since no channel guide is available. Interesting I can’t find a hotel guide in the room. It is quite generous to have the minibar included in the package with a beer a night. Similar to most hotels at places with winter, the central AC is not really controlled in the room so it was rather warm for me at night. Overall a good stay.

The Songbei Shangri-la has potential to be amazing, but lacks the finer detail of a 5* service. The room was nice with amazing views and a comfy bed. There was rubbish by the lifts, which was left for a day and not cleared by any staff. The bar was closed permanently and I hadn't been made aware of this when booking, but the manager sent me a bottle of wine to my room which was a lovely touch. Room service was good though, as I couldn't eat from the buffet. Small details like only having whole milk were disappointing for a 5* hotel aimed at at international market. I would stay here again, I hope staff can be unskilled into improving improving minor details which would make such a difference. Keep trying!

The staff and ambience of Songbei Shangri-La Hotel provided a very warm welcome to my first winter break in Harbin. The room (Panoramic River View) was well-equipped, spacious and very comfortable, with all the usual features and luxuries. The buffet dinner at Café Song was extensive, including Chinese and Western dishes...and included delicious local Harbin bottled beer! Dining highlight was some local specialties at Shang Kitchen - amazing! Fitness facilities are also very good, including a sparkling indoor pool which was just the right temperature. I am looking forward to returning to Songbei Shangri-La in the near future. Thank you to all the fantastic staff for a very memorable stay.

Nice large room with floor to ceiling view of the river and ice sculpture park. It’s pretty doggone cold so when not out at an attraction, hanging at the hotel was the best option. Food was ok in both restaurants we tried. I’m leaving this review a few months after and only recall being comfortable and well accommodated. Would recommend.

We were choosing between the older Shangrila and Songbei Shangrila for our December trip to Harbin, we picked Songbei because it's newer and its location, which is away from the city. It's indeed a reasonable assumption that a newer hotel is better in hardware. In China where even a year makes a big difference in hotel features. Songbei Shangrila did not disappoint us as it exceeded our expectation in both room and food quality. We booked a room with river view and lounge access. The hotel was also quite close to the site of ice and snow festival which was an event not to miss if your visit Harbin in the winter. Hotel offered shuttle bus to town and to a few more tourist spots. Our room was spacious with large windows faced the Songhwa river. Beds were extremely comfortable and there were plenty of drawers to store our winter gears. This feature was often missed by many of Shangrila's competitor but it is so important for guests who intended to stay more than 3 days. There were also many towel racks, which came handy for us who care about water conservation and do not wish to have our towels washed everyday. We had light dinners at the lounge couple of times and it was not fancy but satisfying. Chinese restaurant Shang Palace was a class of its own for Harbin, we had a sumptuous meal and the price was totally affordable, a good recommendation if you fancy Chinese food in this part of China.. Breakfasts were served in the coffee shop and it again, exceeded our demanding taste There were good variety choices for local and international taste. Harbin was a super fun town and we really had a good time there. We will soon return to the city and of course, will stay at Songbei Harbin again.

This was an amazing stay, very friendly staff, great service and food, fantastic view. Felt as I am at home.

The Shangri-La in Harbin is a new Hotel with excellent service and good location to reach the festivals. We had a short conference and nearly all was perfect. Only little negative points were the english knowledge of the staff and also the breakfast wasn’t too great (Dinner in contrast was excellent…). Also the Horizon Club was soso… However, Hotel in general is highly recommended.

Very nice hotel only it is a bit out of the main city and can be difficult to get a taxi to go there. It is reasonably close to Ice World Understanding English was a problem.

Beautiful and luxury Hotel. The staff are good with service mind. Room is big with extra large king bed and big bathroom. Breakfast is good with a lot or choices. Great view of motor way from my room.

Love to stay there forever ❣️❣️ A most recommend Hotel to Stay🏨. It's more than I expected. The room so clean and most Importantly I am satisfied to their services. I Will be back soo with my friends

Very recommend travelers to stay in this hotel! Comfortable, clean! Most important is, that the staff Mr 姜 and Mr. 劉 are very kind and friendly!!!

I have great expectation of Shangri-La having stayed in a few of them around Asia but this is pretty disappointing. Was encouraged to upgrade to the executive floor upon checking in for the inclusive breakfast and executive lounge accessibility and we did. First, room carpet was like fluffing big time. You get loads of fluff on your clothes should you sit or squad on it while packing and unpacking. Room suppose to come with complimentary mini bar that never get replenished. We stayed there for 3 nights. Only thing that they replenished was the drinking water. Executive lounge pre dinner cocktail food was the same for all 3 evenings. So are the breakfast menu for all 3 mornings in the restaurant. Nothing changed at all.

I do not expect such service from a Shang establishment. If you say breakfast starts at 6am, the whole restaurant has to be ready. By 6:30, the pancake station is still not manned. Kids upset. Have flight to catch.

The food was awful , waste of ingredients , the sushi chef is very unprofessional, I doubt if she knows how to make Japanese food. The food choices are very limited , they only provide Asian food or Chinese food . I have stayed in Shangri-la brand so many times it’s my first time experiencing such an awful buffet dinner. I m so disappointed with their food and service in the buffet restaurant. There was no service at all, all of the staffs were standing at a place and chatting with each other. Only one waitress was clearing our plates. There was no responsiveness , I ordered the oyster at the cooking counter and waited one our , it didn’t come to my table , when I went to ask again the staff said there were no more cooked oyster and he didn’t not respond to me if he will cook for me again . Anyway it was an awful experience staying and dining in this hotel.

We booked one suite and one bedroom, They are not large it is a bit small for a new hotel, but it was modern and comfortable with nice views of Harbin river, also it has some commercial stores around the hotel, it is around a 10-minute drive from Central Street

Had a great stay. The hotel was really nice and very modern. Beautiful room with a great view. Excellent staff service. Communicates very well. Good food at the buffet restaurant, only some are too oily/edible but everything are perfect. Staffs are friendly and attentive. Fast and Efficient service. Also, there is a bar called D Drunk Pig with a very energetic live band from Philippines. The band plays really great music, good dancing skills and very friendly. I can see that philipino good singers are anywhere. Overall, my stay was great beyond expectations. Definitely staying here again on my next business trip.

It was quite comfortable. This hotel has a really good atmosphere. The service by hotel staff was excellent! The bed is a soft and quiet comfortable. However the breakfast doesn't taste very nice but it's edible.

All well and neat - helpful staff too The Shang Palace is awesome esp the Roast Duck

Been here couple times. Always amazed by the great service provided by the waitress Michelle Zhang and Tracy Jia. The food was prepared freshly and cooked perfectly. Everything from the food to decor is way beyond average, compared to other buffet restaurant in Harbin. Love the Hainanese Chicken Rice, which I would say, pretty authentic and bring me back to the time when I was in Southeast Asia. The Chinese style steamed food is also highly recommended. A+++.

The staff, Moon and Shelly were all very nice, friendly and efficient. They went over and make sure we were taken care of, and made our arrival most comfortable! After that, it was smiles and joy each day.. All in all, a really great time! Hope to go back again.Would highly recommend this hotel.

Our stay was great, The staff was very helpful as we had some extra requests.

This hotel belongs to the Shangri-la chain, but it is not as Ritzy as the others I've visited. The staff by and large does not speak English, like most of China. Of the ones who do, it's not spoken or understood well. Nonetheless, they tried very hard to provide good service. It's just that you have to ask. When I arrived, I had to push a bit to get the concierge to put together a plan for me. I know the intention was good, but it really was not on part with a 5 star hotel. I was suggested to visit the famous St. Sophia cathedral, I hired a taxi and organized my agenda to take me 20 mins downtown only to find it was closed due to renovations when I arrived. On the other hand, they were right to suggest I visit Ice and Snow World at 4:30, I got to see all the lights come on and transform the place. And I didn't have to stay any longer than necessary (at -24 C, that's non-trivial). I also chose this hotel because another reviewer said that it was entirely non-smoking, nary a smoke molecule around. My room smelled great when I walked in, but soon enough I found a cigarette butt and plentiful cigarette ashes on the floor. When I contacted the hotel manager, he was very much embarrassed and tried to find me another room. Funny enough, that room actually smelled like smoke. All in all I basically lost the whole morning checking in, getting settled into my room and getting my schedule (pseudo-) sorted. The manager tried to compensate me with a fruit bowl and some sweets.

I went on a girls trip to Harbin Ice Festival and stayed at the Songbei Shangri la (we were a group of expats living in Shanghai). We were greeted by Jo, she was wonderful and very helpful. The beds were super comfortable and location was perfect for Ice Festival and tiger park. The bar staff were a bit slow on making cocktails. Overall I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

We stayed here (2 adults, 2 children) during the ice festival. You can see the festival area from the windows of the hotel, it is quite close. Hotel is new and very nice. Gym and pool area also good. Highly recommend it.

An experienced i naver had, while booking from hotels.com free breakfast was included but the hotel still charge me while i checked out.

The service is not on par with other Shang rila property. Front desk service is poor

Very typical Shangri la style but too far from downtown
