Reviewed Aug 21, 2026The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was large and clean. Within a 10 minute walk from the fort. Access to the pool from our room was a bonus. WiFi was reliable and the room contained a safe.
It was up a steep hill which may cause a problem for some people although there are plenty of tuktuks available.

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026This is a great 3 star option in Galle. It is 15 mins walk or a quick tuk tuk to the Fort area, the pool is a nice way to cool off after a day of walking. Room was clean with AC and a fan. The staff were helpful and friendly.

There was no lock from inside of the washroom, which is not a bigger issue but felt it should be there at least from inside. I've paid the bill while checking in but still while checking out I had to wait for the confirmation of the payment from the daytime manager - lack of communication.

There was a very unpleasant smell in the room, and it did not feel clean. There were spiders in the room, and both the bathroom and toilet were in very poor condition. The room lighting and air conditioning were also very poor and barely working.

Swimming did not have filters running so did not wish to use it, no sunbeds or chairs by pool. No kitchen, bar or vending machine so any food or drink needs to be purchased outside of the hotel. It is a little tired and not like the photos.

Reviewed Jan 2, 2025The staff are very formal and polite, they are a huge asset to this hotel. The hotel is quaint, in an old fashioned style, which is very well maintained and extremely clean.
There was no functioning kitchen at the time of our visit, but there are many tourist type cafes a short rickshaw ride away in the fort.

It is really in need of a lot of work to bring it back to its glory days. As it appears to have only reopened post covid in Feb 2024 it has only had low season occupancy so I’m guessing funding any refurbishment is a long way off. That being said, we were comfortable enough staying for a couple of days and the staff were all really great. Might be a very different experience in the on season with restaurant and bar facilities open.

Also the location was really good, in walking distance to the fort. If I ever returned to Galle I 'd be glad to book it again.

We booked the "deluxe family room" and it didn't match the description on booking.com. No balcony, no TV, no coffee maker and very limited sea view. And to be fair, the room is very basic and not very "deluxe". However, the management did their best to make up for the mistake/mis-info and we had a nice stay. The hotel seems quite tired and could really use a makeover. But for the price you pay for the room, it still really good value,
