Provider-sourced guest reviews.
This place is a huge scam. Only positive is location. Charged $236 for one night and had the worst experience. No air conditioning, none of the electrical outlets work, no wifi, no fridge, no bath mat, no trash bin, no security. Host will not answer you and won’t address any of the issues. We never got any of our money back. Don’t make the same mistake I did and run don’t walk away from Destination Stays.
I booked this place through Bookety.com.The room price was $56.01 per night (x2). Taxes & fees: $96.72. Total 208.74 which was advertised in C$. After payment, they issued a breakdown stating the price was quoted in US dollars charging my card C$297.19 which was higher than the US dollar conversion. Contacted Bookety.com and no response. Horrible and very dirty place. I Spent most of my time cleaning and away from it. Bugs and holes in the sofa, Internet, and TV, not working, no towels, bedding full of hair and smelly. total nightmare. Daniel runs this shady place and never responded. I should have read the reviews before booking.
Its a fine accommodation for shorter stays. Practical location. Management is responsive.
Great location near the metro station but otherwise has nothing else good going for it
This property does not live up to the pictures. Don’t be fooled. The rooms are extremely tiny and broken down. The staff didn’t even give us toilet paper. I’ve paid $30 to stay in hostels that were much nicer than this. Absolute scam!
Location is the only good thing in this property - close to transportation and a lot of tourist spots. However, customer service is lacking. I understand this is an apartelle with no receptionist at the location but if there are customer needs that are urgent/communicated to property personnel, there should be someone to address our needs. Our reservation was for 3 people but we were not given extra bed, extra pillow and extra towel for the third person. We contacted them but they said they were contacting the host which we realized was non-existent. We were charged extra guest fee but did not receive any service/amenity for the 3rd person. I would not recommend this place to anyone!
The place was not clean.
The room was not prepared and I need to change my own bedsheet.
-No cooking vent making it fire alarm sensitive -Itchy bed sheet, blanket and sofa. -Booked for 3 people but towel, blanket, utensils, toiletries, etc just for 2 people. -Small bed and sofa not eligible for third person sleeping. -Doesn’t qualify for 3 people stay. -Tried to contact the property but went to voice mail which was already full. -Have to leave the place right away due to all the issue. -Didn’t stayed in property
I wish I had of read the reviews before booking as they are spot on. Just an overall horrible experience. No bed sheets, no couch cover, water wasn't working in bathroom sink, shower was a slow trickle. Room smelled like gas at night. No noticeable air conditioning. Security to the building was non-existent. Save your money!!
Besides the location, do not stay here unless you are staying for a night or rarely going to be in the room. The walls and dishes are stained and dirty. When I asked help to get more towels, pillows, and toilet paper, I was ignored and told that someone would come help but no one ever did. The bathroom door was broken so it was hard to get any privacy when using it. The code key pads rarely worked & the smell from the restaurant downstairs poured into the apt strong. The stairs were also a surprise and there was no reception peopl my large suitcase on my own and no one was there to help me. The shower is extremely small with no water pressure at all, yet there is mold, old hair and dirt on the floor, as well as hair from past tenants. The walls have marks from dirt from past tenants which was also disgusting to sleep next to. There is no outlet next to the beds and you have to get up to charge your phone. No full length mirror either or bath mat provided. I would not be as mad about all these problems if there was a responsive customer service team, who actually cared about their guests. It was super frustrating that everything we reported was ignored repeatedly. However the location is next to lots of public transportation & great food in walking distance. If you are able to spend a little more money, I would definitely choose a nicer hotel/airbnb in the same downtown area. BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE with responsive customer service people who actually care and upkeep the rooms!
This place was so dirty, there was blood on the curtains, and stains on the wall. There was also a huge window that didn't lock so that was a huge safety issue. There is no front desk and no one to talk to. Spend the extra 20$ or so and stay somewhere decent. They stopped answering my emails when I asked for my money back, so I had to contact hotels.com and flag it as a safety issue because it was so bad. Do not stay here.
The room was great for the price and very convenient to Concordia and the metro. The room was chilly even with the heat on but wasn’t uncomfortable.
cleanses is horrible.
Never in all my life of travelling have a stayed somewhere that so drastically misrepresented on its website the state of the rooms it rents. This place is like a half-way house or a room at Salvation Army. Truth in advertising!!
DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!! First time that I have such an unpleasant stay. Bathroom dirty, not enough toilet paper, only one towel for 2 people, not even a hands towel. I requested an additional one as soon as I checked in and it arrived one day before I left. No hand soap! When it's the most needed thing during the pandemic! Almost no water in the shower! We could get more water from the kitchenette tap than the shower! Nobody on site to complain, just an email saying that they will inform about the problems but nothing done to fix it.
long story short, please please please avoird yourself humiliation and lots of hassle. There is no manager, nobody to speak with. we arrived to the hotel and didn't receive door code, and nobody answers ever any of your calls. This place is dirty, lacks heating (we froze the whole night in there) before we called Hotels.com to cancel this reservation and get a refund. which I am still awaiting to this day (almost a month now)
Im Sorry for the honest feedback. But we did not enjoy our stay in the place. Safety is not evident, doors at the main are normally unlock also the 1st and 2nd staircase.Cleanliness is terrible, upon entry you will see how it is. Im sorry, but we are so disappointed on our stay. We prefer to go outside rather than staying inside the room. The size of the room is acceptable, but the cleanliness is a big deal. Thank you.
when I was first to arrive the apartment was absolutely not in the photo, in my room there was no hot water and the heating did not work it was extremely cold I called the owner he told me there is nothing he can do no rooms are available i had nowhere to go because it was late I should wait until the next day to look for another place frankly I do not recommend this hotel, it's horrible
Booked this through hotels.com and it was advertised as $52 per night. At checkout, I didn't see the total as it was on the right of the page, and only after I paid I noticed I was charged $150 due to exorbitant fees and taxes. AS SOON as I booked it and realized this, I called and emailed both the hotel and hotels.com to request to cancel and refund as I would not have booked it had I known it was $150, not $50. Very shady move IMO. Hotels.com was actually willing to refund IF the hotel approved, which after many emails back and forth they would not approve. To make matters worse, when I got there the place looked nothing like the photos, I wouldn't consider this place a hotel it's super run down, the room was super cold (think MTL winter) even though the thermos was set to max, and the portable heater in the room didn't even work. There was no way I could sleep in there with the room being 10-15 deg C. Honestly, a hotel room with inadequate heating in winter should be illegal. You could tell the place gets no regular maintenance. There are about 3-4 door locks you are supposed to go through to get to your room, which I was provided codes for. I only needed 1-2 of those because the rest of the locks were broken so the door was just unlocked. Not a very secure place if that's what you're looking for. The customer service was almost non-existent. Hotels.com and I called the property several times with no answers. You're better off staying at a hostel like M Montreal for $30 for MUCH better service, amenities, cleanliness, and comfort. Please do yourself and myself a favour and don't stay here. There was wifi which I didn't use becuase I did not end up sleeping there, I took one look around and left due to the cold, but the wifi seems non-existent based on all other reviews.
Perfect location. Communication with the manager quick. Room smaller than expected - tight for two if your traveling with a friend.
Location is amazing. Right in the centre of Concordia and surrounded by Asian restaurants just off of St. Catherines plus a convenience store 100 ft away. A bit noisy outside but my room (302) was very quiet. Bed was fine and good wifi as well as netflix. Only issue was minor... the wood floors were swept but not washed well so bring sandals/slippers and don't wear white socks. No shower hook to hang my wet towel (you can buy them for a dollar so please install one); no toilet roll holder nor any shelf to hold a cup and hairdryer was listed but not provided (not an issue for me and my short hair). This is more of a homestay apartment than hotel but for a solo traveler for 3 nights, value is pretty good and a great location.
the place was not a hotel quality at all, it is a bunch of super small rooms in a an old building without elevator. bathroom was supper small, and not clean. we immediately reserved another hotel and left the place. i emailed the contact person asked him to call me, he never did. i called the hotline noone answered. i asked refund on my email, noone replied with proper answer. i would appriciate if Expedia make a refund to my card for the hotel portion since we did n ot stay at this place. this IS NOT a hotel, it's a hostel.
Let’s just say I can’t stand the smell from the restaurant in the room and the room gets cooked with no AC. The customer service is good but that’s about it.
The day I checked in , the room had not been clean yet
There are no refrigerator, air condition, and kettle. The stove is partially broken. Doors are cracked. There is terrible smell of rancid cooking oil rising from Vietnamize café placed on the first. No contact with staff excepting email.
Awful experience. DO NOT BOOK! No hot water, wifi was a joke, and absolutely ZERO response to phone calls and emails. I left and am still fighting to get my money back 2 months later. Worst Expedia experience ever!
I have stayed several times and still there is no toilet paper holder attached to the wall. It is very annoying. With the gravel on the sidewalks it would be nice to have a broom available to sweep the room. I don't expect anyone else to do it but a broom hanging in the hallway would be nice. Maybe a mop too.
-wifi is very weak. -room temperature is not comfortable.
For the great location, room condition and price, this is a very good value deal. I would have given it an excellent rating only if the internet were a bit faster. Finally, for those who like Asian food, you would probably enjoy the smell of scrambled eggs for about an hour or two almost around every midnight while the restaurant downstairs prepares its next day meals...
The rooms are exceptional, at the center of the downtown area - rooms clean, fully equipped private kitchen - bathroom and toiletries. Service is great and the technology bar none. Destination Stays Downtown Montreal is the place to stay during your visit in MTL
The room itself was as advertised, and the contact person was very friendly. The bathroom wasn't very clean and the water pressure in the shower was very bad, which is a problem if you visit in the winter as I did. At one point they changed the code to the building without informing me and it took them about two hours to give me the right code. Make sure that you have access to mobile data in case this happens to you because otherwise I would have been stranded.
Montreal is great.
A convenient location across from the Guy-Concordia metro station with easy access to restaurants and local attractions, this apart-hotel covers the basics well!
The property is in a really good location and easy to find. There is no elevator in the property, but there are only two short flights of stairs.
Reading negative reviews made me worry before the trip, but it turned out that the place is not bad. I did experienced unstable internet connections some times, but other than that I did not have any problems. Overall, considering the price you pay, I think that this is a great place.
The reserved property was not fulfilled. We were provided check-in information late and for a completely different location across town. Complete radio silence from Destination Stays. With nowhere to stay, we carried our luggage around town for the better part of our first day on vacation and ended up re-booking elsewhere. Never do business with this company.
I enjoyed my stay as it was close to transportation and it was really affordable. Everything I ever needed was in the room.
Very nice place to stay and the location also was good because you can find everything you want in the area. The only issue was to find a parking but wherever you can go in Montreal, the parking lot will be your big issue.
There was cold water in the shower, I tried to contact the hotel 20+ times to resolve this. The wifi signal was essentially so poor it was unusable. The tv kept showing a "couldn't connect to the network" message. They specifically said to contact them if you have any issues, but refuse to respond.
Very good location. Sufficient space generally. More drawer space would be helpful. More tourist information would be helpful also.
Last-minute cancellation without any notice on the date of our stay. Total lack of professionalism, organization and honesty. Do not book under destination stays as it is a shady and dishonest service.
Great location, great amenities, very clean, the only issue we had was finding parking, but there is a garage a few blocks away, 100% would stay here again
It was in a great location and easy to find. Close enoygh to ealk to most attractions. There was no legal street parking during the weekdays. Parking lots nearby only took Canadian currency and had hourly limits.
The room was good, clean and fine for the business trip I was on. However, it would have been really nice if the TV functioned. There was no cable or control box, and no instructions on how to get a signal to the TV to make it useful. It is a great looking flat screen TV, but it was as entertaining as watching wet paint dry. There was no daily housekeeping as advertised. The fact that there is no convenient parking available should have stated in the up front room info.
Fantastic location: steps to metro, steps to restaurants and bars and grocery stores with a Vietnamese restaurant connected to lobby. Not wheel chair accessible if that is a requirement. Emailed passcodes for all doors and check-in instructions. Three floors, no elevator. It all worked. Small room. Clean. Air conditioning worked. Not central air, but kind that sticks out window so there will be noise from it. Ceilong fan. Fire dept across the street, but I did not hear siren 🚨 so thought that was odd. Small washroom, really small shower. Not sure how it works if you’re really fat. Hot water. Three towels and washcloths. No soap for shower. Hand soap in washroom. There was shampoo and conditioner, but not sure if left by previous guest. Have to be careful not to wet floor. No mat to soak up water. Bed for 1 is ok. Pillow really uncomfortable. Room was quiet. No daily maid service. Kitchenette with hot plates, microwave, sink, bar fridge, cups and plates. Fine for solo traveller.
I enjoyed it . It was clean, well situated , not expensive .
I liked the fact that the place was close to everywhere I needed to go. And the noodle place below had excellent food. However, problems started at check in. There was no office or concierge, with everything being done online and through locks. I wasn't even sure if I was at the right place. Being from out of country with no roaming data, it made double checking the e-mail with all my checkin information difficult. I needed to find a place with wi-fi just to look up the wi-fi password for the room and combinations to get in the room. The wi-fi signal was in and out and not reliable. The walkway at the entrance was dirty, and there was spilled coffee on the black side table leading to the stairs which I got all over my sleeves. When I got to the room, I wasn't expecting much but the I expected the toilet to flush, which it didn't. I exchanged e-mails, had to leave a conference panel early just to let someone in to fix it, only to find out later the problem wasn't actually fixed. The bed was basically an army cot with two pillows and extremely cheap furniture. The shower water pressure was terrible, with the water taking a long time to heat up only to become unbearably hot which required a lot of adjusting and patients. Don't be fooled by the photos. Everything in the room photographs well from afar but is exceptionally cheap and uncomfortable. At least the place had air conditioning, but the air conditioning unit was leaking water that would eventually collect near the TV.
The online picture is mis-leading. The rooms are not that pretty. All amenities are there, but not in optimal condition. The shower had only one little beam of water, and the cabin was extremely small. There was no nightlight on the nightstand. The window could not be fully closed. Other than that, everything was great. I had a good night's sleep.
It is a self check in hotel which is clean and cozy.
The place was very convenient for us. Very close to metro
Dirty. Not an hotel but sort of AirBnB. The rooms smell the cuisine of the downstairs restaurant. The lowest internet speed I ever experienced. Self checking and no customer service. Try to contact them by phone and email. No reply.
The room was not clean, there were only 2 towel during stay for 6days and no change even we asked for it, the dishes was dirty can’t even use it. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody
I don't usually write reviews - but this was terrible - stayed one night and left (was a 5 night booking, that's how bad it was)
The bed was too low on the floor, a desk light will fantastic, the smart TV did not work for me Otherwise it was fine
I had a pretty pleasant stay here, it's true that some things seem old because they are, the whole building is. This was more of an airb&b so no front desks and I kinda like just being able to have somewhere cozy to stay without anyone knocking on the door. Daniel always checked up via emails. There were amenities: T.V., fridge, microwave, stove top, plates, pots&spans, mugs and full utensils. I didn't really use much of it because I'm in downtown Montreal which is filled with amazing restaurants, but hey if you want to cook you got everything. Everything was clean. To be honest it was like a small apartment for one. At least the one I rented out which was a solo studio-like room. The location is a major bonus. The only down sides I saw is it lacks an elevator and very small shower, but I think it was both alright for the price I paid.
Amazing choices of rooms and location. I was serviced royaly.Very clean and responsive. Merci Destination stays for your prompt and fast service. I loved ur conciergerie, very helpful.I will definitely suggest people to stayz with destinationstayz..
Nice self check-in hotel with clean rooms and good equipment (fridge, stove, etc.) where you can make your own meals.
Smelt like an ash tray and extremely outdated and dirty
We loved our stay in #201. It was cozy, bright and had a great little kitchen. The view looked into a heritage brick building which was really beautiful. I think it is a school so it was very private at night. We used the kitchen and cooked a lot. The location was great. Close to the metro station, shopping and restaurants. Also walked 14 minutes to see a Montreal Canadians game. We arrived late at night and my first thought was what have I done booking us here for 5 nights?! It was dark, late, cold and my boyfriend and I arrived at different times. I was uncertain about arriving with no one to greet me at a front desk. The cab driver stayed to make sure I got in safely. I felt totally safe. The area looked much better in the morning. It turns out I loved everything about the area and suite and really loved coming back here at the end of each day.
Very clean but the building is hard to find. I also didn't like that there was no parking
I travel for business 60 nights plus a year. This was truly the worst room I have ever seen. See pictures attached. The property was not helpful in a solution. I called and asked them to look into it 2 times and never heard back. Please stay elsewhere. The pictures in the post are very misleading.
There was no reservation desk. There was no one to help, except a gentleman that worked at the restaurant next door. I'm 72 and had to walk up lots of stairs to my 3rd floor room. Rooms left unlocked with key on desk. No wifi, as promised, so I couldn't get the email sent the day of my arrival, with the code to get onto the different floors. Nowhere to park, so I parked several blocks way, in the rain, and that cost a $62 ticket. It was not well marked, from the street. Filthy, stained couch, in room. I could go on, but you get the idea!!!!!
Metro is really close by. It's right across the street. The air conditioning is small but it worked great. The fridge and TV with youtube were a nice touch too. You can contact the manager(?) thru e-mail and the replies were fast. Now what was bad about it.... 1. No Lift. You have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs. 2. The room is not as bright as seen in the photos. The window is small and you can see everything from the outside so we had the curtains closed the whole time. 3. The ceiling fan was super dirty. 4. The bunk bed was absolutely HORRIBLE. The metal frame looked and felt really weak. The whole thing would literally shake every time the person above or below moves (even just getting up.) I've slept in a lot of different bunk beds in hostels and this is the worst ever. 5. There's a fire station across the street and there was siren noise at night. I was fine with it but my mom woke up a couple of times during the night because of it.
Don't make the same mistake I did. I booked this hotel after looking at the pictures online but somehow, I didn't read the reviews. I should have read the reviews. I'm going to get the pros out of the way, because there were a few: We stayed in Little Burgundy, in a great location. Surrounded by adorable cafes and restaurants. The apartment itself was...big. There was a kitchen with a microwave. A TV, a sofa bed and two large beds. A washer and a dryer. Some cute fixtures and nice design in the bathroom. But it was dirty when we got there. The carpeted lobby/staircase looked like it had never been vacuumed. There was a thick layer of dust ALL OVER the banister. There was dust and hair on the floors and hair in the bath! There were black scuff marks ALL OVER THE WALLS. There were crumbs on the kitchen counter and a half eaten jar of nutella and some old bread in the cabinets. A hairspray bottle behind the couch cushion. The windows were filthy, as if they've never been washed. Wet cloths underneath the sink. A black, filthy mop in the closet. (I'm very sensitive to smell, and there was a lingering scent of someone's perfume everywhere, which was very off-putting for me). Everything was just way below any hotel cleaning standards. Of course I called the main office right away. But suspiciously, they didn't answer. Since "Daniel" had been communicating with me solely via email up until then, I decided to email him. A woman named "Shara" answered me even though I had emailed Daniel's address. "She" apologized profusely and said she would let "Daniel" know, and they were working on getting the cleaners to us immediately. Spoiler Alert: THE CLEANERS NEVER CAME. NOT ONCE IN THE FIVE DAYS WE STAYED THERE. Since my husband and I were on vacation with our three little kids, we couldn't just leave the dirt and dust there that first night. We ended up cleaning for 2 hours to get it to a state that was acceptable. TWO HOURS while we are on vacation. For the rest of our stay there we kept getting emails promising to send cleaners to us. One day, at 9:56am they sent an email saying, "we're sending a team now". By 11:00am there wasn't even a knock on the door. When we came back to the apartment that night at 8:30pm, everything was exactly as we left it. So I emailed "Shara" and asked what happened and she said the earlier email, "was supposed to go to another guest....but I am working on getting a team out to you". WHAT IN THE WORLD?! I asked for a reimbursement/some compensation for the cleaning we had to do and did not hear one word back about that. It would be VERY EASY to make this a 5 star stay. All they had to do was invest in a cleaning company and be diligent. Oh, and not tell lies. I really don't know why they lie--it seems like it's much more work than just telling me NOPE we're Not going to do that! My theory from this whole experience is that "Daniel" is the only one running this thing. He bought a bunch of apartments and is running some kind of Air bnb operation on his own, but (illegally?) calling it a hotel. He cleans and does the repairs himself so he doesn't have to spend any more money. There is no Shara, and there are no "cleaners". He's making that up so that it can be appear that he has a legitimate operation. It's all very shady and very disappointing. Don't make the same mistake I did. JUST SAY NO to Destination Stays!
Great Location...Great place to sleep and get cleaned up but too small to spend any great length of time in. Would stay there again.
There really should be someone there to great you when you arrive.
I don't think this property should be listed on Expedia. This property doesn't meet even the minimum standards. The only good thing about it is its location. We had a room on the 3rd floor, the building doesn't have elevator, so we had to carry our luggage by stairs. The room was very small. Dirty dishes in the cupboard. Around the window was so dirty (I am not sure if it was mold). The water pressure in the shower was terrible. There was a TV in the room, but was not connected to anything. We even emailed Daniel (who was sending us welcome email, and emails regarding how to unlock the doors, etc), and explained some of the issues, but he never responded to our email.
This was one of the worst places I've ever stayed. I don't know how it's able to be listed on hotels.com as it really isn't a hotel. We were told we would be met at 3pm for check in. Nobody came. When we got into our room (it's self check in) it was dirty. The only towels provided were 2 tiny hand towels. (See pictures). The description says there's daily housekeeping, premium TV channels, complimentary water bottles, and a microwave, none of which are true. When we contacted the "hotel" they didn't answer or call back. They ended up responding to our email saying they never said they offer those things. That's completely untrue (see attached picture listing what the room includes). They asked which website we had booked them from, guessing Airbnb which wasn't the case. Clearly they don't post the same information on each site they're listed on. They went on to say they only provide enough towels for the amount of guests. We wrote back saying all we had were 2 tiny hand towels as opposed to bath towels so there was no way to dry off. This was day 1 of our 3 day stay and we never heard back from them again. When we complained to hotels.com they couldn't help us because they couldn't get a hold of the "hotel." No surprise there. When hotels.com finally got a hold of the "hotel" 2 days later, the manager said he wouldn't issue a refund because they had never received a complaint from us. Also completely untrue since we have email proof. Terrible customer service and place to stay. DO NOT DO IT!
We are traveling right across the country and this was by FAR the worst place we've stayed in, and one of the most expensive. The price was increased because of a big event in town that weekend. We could not find anywhere else, but sleeping in a park may have been better. At best, this was a $50 motel room. -It was very small; cramped, in fact. -It was not clean. The bedding cover was stained and we didn't use it. The curtains were stained. The baseboards in the bathroom were very, very dirty. All the cutlery and dishes were dirty, sticky, and stained. (We took photos) -There were only 2 bath towels and 1 facecloth for two people. There was 1 stained mug, and 1 tiny wine glass. All the dishes and cutlery we're both dusty and sticky simultaneously. Just gross. -The bathroom had no hooks or rails for towels. None. There was no toilet paper holder, and nowhere to put a toothbrush. - The shower was terrible, and way too small, even for a small person. Again, there was nowhere to put anything. - The only light was the main one. There wasn't even a lamp. - There was a fire escape right up to the window, but no bar on the window. It didn't feel safe. - It was too hot. There was no a/c. - The TV didn't work. It had no signal. We managed to get YouTube to work. - The only garbage bin was in the bathroom. - One closet door was unopenable and broken. -The WiFi was very slow - The smell from the restaurant downstairs was in all our clothes and we had to wash everything once we'd left. It was such a disappointing experience. To be gouged in this way, on a special trip, was really poor. For a relatively small amount of money, and some good, deep cleaning, new bedding, hooks, rails, lights, new crockery and cutlery, and a much lower price, this place could be improved. The point of contact person communicated quickly, but showed no interest in attempting to address this terrible experience. Avoid at all costs!
The single worst travel experience of my life - avoid this 'hotel' at all costs.
The Space: Extremely small room, bathroom literally fits one person standing. Not a comfortable experience. no a/c. The Location: Downtown, close to bars and restaurants Administration: Self Check in, communication only through email. The reason why I say sketchy administration is that every time I send them an email (i.e. asking for check in info, or for deposit refund); they would first send me the official refund email and shortly after reply to my previous email saying they already issued the refund; which is true indeed, but weird timing. As if if I didn't ask, they wouldn't take the initiative to issue it. Maybe I'm wrong, but it was the feeling I got from them.
I made the mistake of booking the « Griffintown » apartment through BMO Rewarss without looking at these terrible online reviews and I really regret it. I agree with these other reviewers and recommend that you stay away from this place. Here are the main reasons. The entire check in experience is really sketchy, and I kept being sent emails intended for another person, which included all kinds of personal information. I would not trust this “company” with your personal information. The apartment is nowhere near where it claims to be in Griffintown, but actually about 5 kilometres away in a sketchy part of Montreal west. Worse still, the place is very loud all night because of only single pane window letting in all street noises, such that you’re unlikely to get much sleep. The place is very dirty with stains everywhere on the walls and black mould clearly visible in the shower. Yuck! The appeal of this place for us was that there was a kitchen included, but the kitchen was so poorly equipped, lacking basic things like a coffee maker or a pot! The internet connection was very poor, and when I tried to address this with the patrons they said that all looked fine on their end, but did nothing to resolve this. So no, there’s effectively no internet connection included. There is a television set in the room, but it’s not connected to any channels. Ultimately, when I sought a refund from my rewards program after leaving this horrible place two days early, the managers lied and said I was still staying there, and refused to provide me with any reward. And so, I repeat, avoid at all costs!
I liked it, although it's probably not a place for everyone. It's a self-checkin "hotel", no clerk, no common spaces. I wish the curtains would cover the window a bit better and I would definitely recommend them to change the bed (thus the 4* rating). Otherwise, I liked the diverse neighborhood, the proximity to downtown, the metro just across the street, the quietness and the lower price for being in town. Not for you if you need a gym/pool/bar/restaurant/spa type of hotel surrounded by fancy restaurants. They are just a couple metro hops from this place though.
It is not possible to operate a hotel by remote control with no front desk and no people. The entire premise of this hotel is flawed. It simply doesn't work. There was great anxiety on being able to check in, with many emails exchanged for many weeks. There is a complex systems of combinations and keys that is almost impossible to understand. The walls in the hallway and room are filthy, with hundreds of mysterious scuff marks and the paint on the room windowsill chipped and cracked. There was no towel on arrival and no way to get one. Two emails went unanswered until a housekeeper finally knocked on my door more than 24 hours after check in. It is weird and creepy to not see others in a hotel and feel alone. I did not feel secure and cannot recommend this hotel to others. Throughout the entire unpleasant stay, I got weird automated emails talking about how wonderful the hotel was and how exceptional the service was. This was so creepy and so at odds with my own experience, I felt like I was being gaslighted in a bad science fiction film.
First bad experience booking through hotels.com This one it is not a hotel because you can never talk to a person, there is not a reception. The "studio" we got or appartment, it was not, we opened the door and the bed was just there, to go to tge washroom, I had to move the table and chair, better not to put anything to not block the entrance to the toilet. The shower is super small. If the pictures matched the place, I would not complain, they made you think it is a two or three piece space but it is not, just there, place for a bed almost on the floor, no place for your lugagge, no place to pass to the washroom or open the closet, yes there is a tiny kitchenette but that is all. At airbnb maybe 30 CAD per night due to location I would not complain. Left the place after one night, nobody to talk to, person never answered back when I complained. Of course, you can not ask for any refund and when I opened the door, I understood why. This place should be deleted from hotels.com and the other websites, go to airbnb and tell the truth, charge a fair price and let people choose according to real information.
This is fine if you just want a place to sleep, and like to cook some of your own food. The room is very small, though, the kitchen is modestly equipped and the bathroom is very small (and I live in New York City). The description is a bit misleading: there’s no premium channels. There’s a smart TV, and you can use your own Netflix login. The WiFi is so bad you can’t make it through a single show without stalling and buffering numerous times. Free bottled water? Nope. I did not have the problems with the entry system that others here have mentioned, though. The location is convenient to museums and the metro, but feels very college-y. There’s grocery stores nearby, but the decent restaurants and cool vibes are elsewhere.
My wife, in-laws, son and I stayed at one of the Destination Stays apartments for a few nights for New Years. The listing said the place had two singles and a double which would be great so the in-laws could sleep separately as my father-in-law is a loud snorer. Unfortunately when we get there all we have is a double and a fold out couch. But, its vacation so we decide to just go with it and give the in-laws the bed and the fold out for us. The first night we go out with friends and come back around 1am. We go to fold out the couch... and nothing happens. We spent half an hour trying to open it before giving up and deciding my wife gets the couch and I get the floor. The next morning I email destinationstays, I text them, I email an alternate email address and hear nothing back. So my father-in-law and I try for another half hour. Finally that afternoon they email back saying they’ll look into it. That evening we finally get the couch open by having my wife push on the bar of the couch, my father-in-law pulling it out, and me lifting up on the back of the couch. So now we have a bed, but won’t have a couch. Also, still no update from destinationstays. Rest of the stay is uneventful. We leave, go home, wait for our deposit to be refunded. They had said it would be 72hrs so after a week we email about the deposit. They reply it could be up to 14 days. So after 22 days we email again. Finally they say they’ve issued the refund of the deposit 23 days after we left. Needless to say, we will never book with these people again. There is NO customer service, and they try to cheat you out of your deposit by hoping you don’t look at your card statements. Terrible company, stay away at all costs.
Stay and check-in was easy. Hotel was clean and very good location. Very good for single person on business as per location and size...
around 20 steps to access to the rooms! Local area near from Ste-Catherine street, from Concordia station and a taxi station just in front..! Room 202 is really too confined for 1 couple (ok for solo short stay). The television doesn't go during our stay.
Best location, comfortable room !! But you guys have to know that hotel is self-service hotel. No staff, no cleaning staff during staying, just keeping touch with me via email. But if you are a person who don't wanna be interrupted by staff like me, it's gonna be best accommodation.
The place was in a great location close to metro and buses and plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. It had a little kitchenette which is nice if you want to make some of your own meals. Cons include that the TV didn't work and never got fixed, I never saw housekeeping during a stay of several nights and there is no front desk. This turned out to be a big con when there was a fight in the room next door the last night. I didn't want to full on call 911 (though I thought about it) yet there was no front desk call or security on site. Consequently I was really scared and couldn't leave fast enough in the morning.
Great location for the metro and downtown Montreal. Steps and stairs difficult to manoeuvre with luggage. No sign of Danielbthe owner throughout the stay, but housekeeper was brilliant, did everything he could to help. Room was small but adequate for my stay. No tv stations , only netflix or youtube both of which kept streaming. . Enjoyed my stay there.
Parking is an issue An old man like me to be on a third floor without elevator is another issue
Expect a student room. No more no less. Barely any furniture in the room. TV was powered but no channels whatsoever. The cleanliness of the bathroom left to be desired. Here comes the worse parts: 1) in the room I stayed in, there is a massive gave between the curtain and the window. That gap lets light coming from the corridor (light that never shuts off) directly on the head of the bed. Someone never tried a night in his hotel. 2) They ask for a deposit which is fair, it happens. But they ask you to send your credit card via email or phone. Seriously? Really did not enjoy my stay at this hotel.
We stayed here in early July for 6 days and chose this particular place for its location: downtown Montreal, 1 minute walk to the Metro station, and very close to Rue Sainte-Catherine. Close to plenty of restaurants, shopping, Concordia and McGill universities. Our room was like a small studio apartment and was very clean with modern decor, and a small kitchen area (fridge, burners, microwave, dishes). There is a Jean Coutu pharmacy on the corner that sells grocery items, so you can make some of your meals in the room (but not every meal...you're in Montreal!) This establishment is more like an apartment building than a traditional hotel (i.e., no staff at the site, more like an air b&b), but Daniel is just an email away if you require assistance. The entrance is passcode-protected for added security. There is no elevator, so you will need to climb one or two flights of stairs. It is also an older building, and the rooms are not air-conditioned so it can get rather warm in the summer. You are also required to make a damage deposit prior to your stay, it took a little longer to have it refunded, but it was returned to me eventually. This is best suited to independent travellers who need a "home base" while exploring beautiful Montreal and do not require daily room service.

Destination Stays Montreal Reneged on my reservation 2 days before i landed in Montreal.. The excuse was that it was overbooked. I paid in full 3 weeks in advance. Expedia did a good job of finding a new place but fell down when it came to helping me get my money back from Destination Stays Montreal..... Expedia returned one call, but not one of my 30 emails.. After calling & sending Destination Stays several emails,. I was promised that in 24 hrs at the most i would be refunded. That lie went on for a week plus. 1 month to the day that i paid in full, i was finally refunded.. Do not do business with Destination Stays Montreal..............
Nice experience in the hotel. The room was organized. Clean and neat. Close to the subway station. Nice staff who helped us a lot when we were confused with the E-key. But it was actually secure and convenient.
This is not a hotel. It's sort of an airBNB. But only stay there if you are looking for a cheap accommodation. It is in the downtown. That's a big advantage. Otherwise not a good option for staying. No reception or help desk. NO housekeeping. My room did not even have AC. Only a fan which was not working properly. They give you the key via email and that's all. I stayed there for 3 days and I did not see a single hotel person. I was there for a conference and my venue was really close. So I had to choose this option. Only stay there if you don't have an option or a poor grad student.
Excellent location and warm welcoming staff
It is small place for active people, the location is great, close to the guy concordia metro station. Clean and with great AC. Doent have coffee maker but there are a lot of cofffee shops around. It has a little kitchennette and there is a ketle so you can boil wate. Manager was nice and always in touch !
My stay was great until the last night I was there. There were two individuals who asked to get in using my passcode, and who wouldn't leave until I opened the door for them. I refused to give them my passcode and asked them to contact "Daniel", who had been sending me emails daily to check on my stay. Daniel didn't respond, and I emailed him to let him know. He responded "sorry for the inconvenience" and then failed to respond when I contacted him again when the two individuals tried to open the door to my room (thankfully, it was locked). The individuals then left and came back, and were waving at me and banging on the outside door to get back in. My friends who were staying at a different hotel called the police because I didn't feel safe leaving as I would have had to confront the two individuals downstairs (again). Through the entire fiasco Daniel didn't respond by phone or email. I would recommend paying a little bit extra to stay in the many hotels downtown...this was one of the least expensive options and you get what you pay for in service and safety.
Sketchy. Took my depost - never gave it back, could not even stay due to the conditions. unsafe and paid 191 (plus 145 depsoit). unreal, i cant believe a hotel can get away with this. should not be under a "hotel" on expedia
