Alles war perfekt! Wir haben ein gratis Upgrade bekommen, das Zimmer war wunderschön. Das ganze Personal war sehr nett, freundlich, aufmerksam und professionnel. Das Essen war ebenfalls sehr gut. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Prachtig gerestaureerde koloniale villa op wandelafstand van het historische centrum. Lekker eten en uitstekende service. Regelden perfecte late check out voor onze nachtvlucht naar huis.

The staff were amazing, everyone at the property was so helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the turn down service was very nicely done. We ate breakfast and dinner here which were both very good. The house is beautiful and very well designed.

Our room was on the small and didn’t have a room fridge. Given the age of the house it is to be expected.

Un vrai havre de paix. Le Sun House est une ancienne maison coloniale magnifique, pleine de charme, avec une décoration soignée qui donne tout de suite envie de se poser. Notre chambre avait une superbe vue sur un jardin luxuriant très reposant. Le personnel est aux petits soins, toujours attentif et discret. L’hôtel est très calme, loin de l’agitation, parfait pour se détendre. On recommande sans hésiter pour un séjour à Galle.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The hotel was very stylish and well-appointed. The restaurant was top-notch and could serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The common areas were simply amazing, and I took a dip in the pool.

We loved everything about our stay at The Sun House. The location is perfect, central enough to explore Galle easily, but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel itself is a beautiful colonial masterpiece, with so much character and every detail carefully considered. Our room was really comfortable, with a great sized bathroom, and the staff were attentive throughout our stay. The food was also a highlight. Everything we ate was delicious, particularly the homemade granola and ice cream.

If I had two small suggestions, it would be to add a mini fridge to the rooms and give the pool area a quick sweep in the mornings. Neither took away from our experience though.

The property and the rooms were beautiful and the food was incredible. A lovely setting for evening cocktails and dinner. It was nice and quiet and just a 10 min walk into the fort area.

The Sun House is an exquisitely preserved house from 1860, equipped with all the modern conveniences we could wish, while maintaining the original charm and structural details. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The food was excellent.

Possibly the most beautiful, interesting and elegant property I’ve ever stayed. Our room was breathtaking and the entire hotel is stunning. Make sure to have a drink in their colonial intimate bar and eat at their incredible restaurant. The staff were so friendly and attentive while giving us space to enjoy and soak in our surroundings. I can’t wait to stay again. It’s a short walk/drive to Galle Forte and has beautiful views and a lovely breeze. The outdoor bathtub was amazing!

A secluded, beautiful lush colonial house within 5-10 minutes walk of Galle fort and a quiet haven away from the bustle of the town. The house is bright airy beautifully decorated and made even more special by the very attentive and warm staff. The surrounding monkeys make good entertainment. The rooms are large elegant and have a sophisticated colonial feel with all modern conveniences except for a mini bar which is really not needed. Tea, coffee and water are available in the room at no extra cost. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and the air con is most effective. The breakfast is very generous and served to the table, no buffet with a choice or either Sri Lankan or western style breakfast. The herbal drink served at breakfast has real kick and gives you a boost for the day. Dinner was delicious and despite a small problem with one dish this was quickly remedied by the chef who personally came to the table to ensure everything was to our liking showing a professional and caring attitude. The gardens and pool are gorgeous well maintained and picture perfect.

The property was exceptional! The house was an original with wonderful furnishings. It felt like a home away from home! Pool was on the small side, but thankfully only two other guests were using it. Rooms were so nice.

The Sun House is truly one of a kind. It is the most gorgeous heritage building with lots of wildlife around (birds, monkeys, lizards)! The staff were so attentive and kind and the food is incredible. You will not want to leave the hotel!

The property was beautifully decorated to a high standard in colonial style, it felt like a piece of history! All of the staff were so attentive and sweet and helped to make our stay special. Slightly outside of the hustle and bustle of Galle but easily accessible by tuk tuk or a short walk, it’s location allowed for a peaceful environment and a good nights sleep 😊

Der Charme des Hotels war umwerfend. Man fühlt isch in die Kolonialzeit zurückversetzt. Sehr hübsche und saubere Zimmer. Mit Tuktuk in wenigen Minuten im Galle Fort.

Auf der eher kleinen Hotelkarte war beim Lunch und Frühstück nicht alles zu bestellen. Der vom Hotel organisierte Transport kostete schlussendlich mehr als bei der Bestätigung einen Tag davor.

A beautiful peaceful stay where we were very looked after by the staff. Watching the wildlife from the pool was a highlight! The property has so many spots to relax and enjoy your surroundings, and a perfect spot close enough to get into Galle fort easily while still being in a more quiet area outside the busy part of town.

Die Anlage und die Zimmer sind wunderschön. Das Frühstück ist ein Traum mit frischen Früchten und einer Riesen Auswahl. Man kann viele Vögel sehen und singen hören und immer wieder kommen Affen vorbei. Der Service war super, alles wunderbar!

This is the most beautiful hotel. Its unbelievably beautifully curated and we had a wonderful time exploring the grounds and noticing each and every little detail. We actually got upgraded to the best room and each room we were in had character and style. You can't have a bad room. The pool is gorgeous and monkeys pass through which is entertaining and only a little bit scary ahaha.

There isn't much to say. Everything is great.

Tuktuks en uber chauffeurs hebben soms moeite met de locatie omdat maps niet helemaal klopt, maar daar kan The Sun House niks aan doen. Het is simpel genoeg te vinden en daarna kan je chauffeurs instrueren welke afslag ze moeten hebben.

Das Frühstück war insgesamt sehr gut, mit einer schönen Auswahl und frischen Produkten. Lediglich schade war, dass der Cappuccino separat berechnet wurde. Die Lage des Sun Houses ist oberhalb von Galle, bei schönem Wetter hatte man eine schönen Aussicht.

Der Poolbereich war grundsätzlich angenehm, allerdings ist die Ausstattung bereits etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Zudem gab es nur eine begrenzte Anzahl an Liegen, sodass nicht immer ausreichend Platz für alle Gäste vorhanden war.

The Location, staff, ambience and style of The Sun House will stay with me forever. We had some exceptional food, hospitality and drinks here. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our only regret is that we weren't staying longer!

We stayed in the Queen room which was very clean and comfortable with a nice big bathroom area. The property was once a colonial house and is utterly superb and serene even though quite close to the fort. It was magical having a drink in the swimming pool area and watching the monkeys playing in the trees, an experience to remember. Excellent breakfast and great staff all around. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one.

Eine stille Oase eignet sich um einfach zu genießen

This was, without a doubt, the best hotel we stayed in during our tour of Sri Lanka. The location is great, away from the hustle and bustle of town but just a short walk away. The property is beautiful and very serene. We had a lovely surprise when we arrived as they upgraded us the the Dumas suite, which, I have to say, was truly outstanding. Huge room on high level with amazing close up views of the monkeys in the trees. Food and drinks at the hotel are excellent. You will definitely not be disappointed if you choose this hotel.

A beautiful hotel, with gorgeous rooms. We were upgraded which was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was delicious with a choice of Western or Sri Lankan. Eating a la carte was a little pricey. The location was quiet and although outside of the Fort it felt very special.

The walk to the Fort was a bit hot with lots of busy roads - but we could have taken a tuktuk.

Stunning Colonial house in the hills above the town but only a five minute walk away. Super staff who were attentive and efficient. The Galleon Suite is absolutely gorgeous. Saw most of the hotels in Galle and wouldn't have wanted to move from The Sun House. A quiet oasis of calm from the very busy and touristy fort and town

The property is absolutely beautiful, relaxing atmosphere and plenty of seating areas. The staff were exceptional and couldn’t do enough for us. Of particular mention was Priyantha, but all of the staff were a credit to the hotel.

Beautiful heritage property, great staff

We had the room with a balcony which overlooked a tropical paradise with monkeys swinging in the trees and birds singing! The pool was lovely - it was just us for a good few hours. The food was fantastic - amazing breakfasts - I had the shakshouka and my husband the Sri Lankan curry - both delish and large quantities. We ate there once in the evening - seared tuna a winner.

Water temperature was a bit hit and miss

The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The food was excellent and we loved the hot butter cuttlefish. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of the township

A beautiful colonial house in a peaceful location not far from Galle fort. A lovely garden and small pool and very charming house.

Our room was off the entrance courtyard and had no outside space to sit. The pool area had only a few sun beds which were hotly sought after.

Exclusivity, charm and serenity in a perfect location. The rooms were stunning and kept the essence of the house, but with contemporary facilities. Breakfast and evening meals exceptional. The staff were truly wonderful, the kindest people you could ever wish to meet. I also, particularly liked the monkeys too!

absolutely perfect end to our trip and the nicest place I've ever stayed - adored being able to walk around the place, lounge by the pool, bird / nature watch, play games, read books. all the staff were so lovely and attentive, (special shout out to Priyantha). the food was incredible - best breakfast (recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast), and we ate most meals at the Gallean restaurant (must try the barramandi and the HFC and basque cheesecake) which is a must. staff were so thoughtful and kind - they let us lounge around way past our checkout so we could go straight to the airport afterwards. thank you and would absolutely recommend this place!

An elegant building that is an oasis of calm. Many delightful spaces throughout the house and gardens that makes it feel like you are the only guests there.

We stayed in the 'Study Room' which is the queen room on ground floor. The room was beautiful and so individually furnished with gorgeous touches. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was unexpectedly large with lovely design features. This was also by far the best shower we had in two weeks in Sri Lanka. The staff were so friendly and gave us a tour and told us about the history on arrival. The breakfast was delicious and we thought the drinks at the bar were reasonably priced. The citronella lotion was lovely also. We would have loved to stay longer!

A minor point but a fridge in the room would be handy.

We had a superb trip to Galle staying at the Sun House. It is the perfect base for exploring the town and being able to come back to a small slice of paradise to relax by the pool, in the gardens or around the house. The food was brilliant, staff incredibly friendly and the cocktails were brill.

There was a chipmunk who was scratching on the roof at night 😁
