Beautiful old Lodge.
A magnificent property located on the picturesque River Dee. The restaurant and bar were comfortable and food of quality. Our room was comfy and clean.
Nothing of note.
The dining was excellent. The scenery including the stream right outside the hotel was beautiful.
The bathroom shower was tub shower combo with a step. It wouldn"t be safe for anyone with any mobility issues, even mild.
The staff were very helpful, especially Stewart in receprion. The situation by the river was lovely. Apart from the first evening the food was very good.
Our room was very poor for the amount of money we paid for it, the bathroom tiny, fortunately we were able to climb into the bath for the shower, others may not have been so able. The low energy lighting was so low I was unable to read my book. There was only 1 chair in the room and the hotel had no lounge to sit in.

Location next to river Dee. Outside space at room. Lovely well kept buildings.
Fan in bathroom inoperative. Some black mould on shower sealant.

Lovely old building in an amazing location.
Lovely building and really helpful staff.
Delighted to have gluten free breakfast - although when I booked with booking.com it said it included breakfast but it didn’t. Room was lovely.
we had a lovely room with its own patio the room was large with a seperate seating area, it was very well furnished and the bed was very comfy, the only negative was the door that was a bit rattly when other people were in the corridor
the door to the room was rattly

Weekends were quite expensive for me but staff were great
We were fortunate to be allocated Room 18, which must be the best in the hotel, with triple-aspect windows giving a view of the Dee. All the staff with whom we dealt were most courteous. We had dinner as well as breakfast and the food and service were very good. The location of the hotel is wonderful but the staff in no way let it down! We had a short but most memorable stay.
Location great but lunch disappointing - friend had to return mussels as half of them hadn’t opened and my lamb was tough. Mussels were replaced with apology from the chef. However, we felt overall the meal was overpriced and pretty poor. We won’t be rushing back!
Fancy place, stylish design
River view from room 1 is not exactly river view. Also people are walking right near your ground floor window, so you have to keep blinds closed
This is a superb hotel. Location is by the ricer and provides a very relaxing experience. Staff are excellent, facilities great and food was very good

Lovely location, comfortable room and excellent breakfast
Access to WiFi could be better
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this lovely traditional hotel that truly exceeded my expectations. Nestled in stunning grounds overlooking the River Dee, it offered such a serene and picturesque setting. We booked a deluxe room, which was incredibly spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was super comfortable, and there was a cozy sofa perfectly positioned so we could enjoy the beautiful view of the river right from our room, complimentary water, tea and coffee making facilities, bath robes and slippers, however a mini fridge, to keep the water chilled, would just finish it off perfectly. One of our favourite features was the lovely outdoor seating area. It was perfect for enjoying food and drinks while soaking in the fresh air and gorgeous scenery. Breakfast was included, and we were pleasantly surprised by the great selection. There were cereals, a variety of hams and cheeses, fresh fruits, pastries and a cooked option that hit the spot every morning. What really stood out , was the friendliness of the staff. Every person we encountered was genuinely helpful and made us feel welcome. They really added to the overall experience, making our stay feel special. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with lovely views and a taste of traditional charm, I highly recommend this hotel. It's a gem!
We have just returned from what I can only describe as an absolute shambles! On arrival to the sitooterie, which we had been looking forward to as we had family visiting for the weekend! We were shown to our shed, given menus & drinks were ordered. We were then told after we had chosen our orders that the menu was unavailable and we were given a sandwich menu and an outside grill menu. My son and husband picked the flatbread (£24) with pulled pork and a side of Mediterranean vegetables & potatoes which I may add came 10 mins after the flat bread, mmm I don’t think you would call it that it was basically a crispy tortilla wrap with a bit of sauce, a teaspoon of pulled pork and picked slaw ( a few bits of red cabbage). The other three main meals never arrived! Then, we noticed food items from the menu we were told was unavailable had been served to a table near us. Why? They were apologetic and we were not charged for anything.
Everything was perfect!

Excellent facility in an excellent location
The hotel is in a great location on the banks of the river Dee. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast.
All was good.
We had a fantastic 4 night stay. Lovely large bedroom. Spotlessly clean. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The setting beside the river is stunning. Will definitely be back.
Wonderful staff and delicious food. A lovely room beautifully furnished with a lovely view.
The food portions were enormous and quite daunting. We ate fewer courses as a result.
Old
Great location and area Marvelous environment of this historic property
Everything, always the best service - staff couldn't be any more friendly. Food is phenomenal and the room is just beautiful, everything you need.
I'd say maybe a fridge would be beneficial, especially when traveling with a baby.
Food for both breakfast and Dinner was great value.
Reception staff were difficult to find
My wife and I spent three nights at the Banchory Lodge to celebrate a special birthday. The setting is stunning; our room was large, comfortable, spotlessly clean and had a wonderful view of the River Dee; the staff were lovely and the food was superb. My only reservation is their "dog friendly" policy. I have been scared of dogs ever since a childhood attack and I do not welcome their company but in fairness the dogs in residence at the time of our stay were generally well-behaved and not a problem.
Spacious, expertly decorated, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The best part was being on the river, it was stunning!
Wifi wasn’t great in room 4.
The lodge sits at the edge of the Dee River and is lovely! We could hear and see the river from the room (#15). There's a patio/deck dining area where folks gathered for drinks and fun! The indoor dining room has 3 "areas" - all are cozy and nicely decorated with views to the outdoors. It's family friendly as we saw happy children enjoying the picnic tables outside yet serene for couples (as we were). The location was a perfect resting spot for our trip: we started from Edinburgh, drove along the coast to see castle ruins, rested for one night and the next day headed to Balmoral, through the mountains back to Edinburgh.
We thought the food could have been a bit more elevated.
Another fantastic afternoon drinking beers in the sun in a stunning location. Excellent service from Davut the manager and his team. We love it here and it’s always a highlight for our weekend in Banchory
Had a wonderful couple of nights at Banchory lodge, lovely large vet comfortable and spotless room. All staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good as was out evening meal, definitely recommend you try here.
Great atmoshere in a historic house
Room with own terrace not so private with guests from other rooms passing through
Bellissimo hotel, immerso nella natura scozzese. Camera grandissima e accogliente.
Nulla
The location and surroundings are simply beautiful. The hotel itself not only looks stunning but is very comfortable and welcoming, with an excellent restaurant. I'd like to give a special mention to the young lady who processed our reception, very pleasant, welcoming and an asset to the your organisation
Room oldie worldie, big and comfortable wit terrace. Breakfast, mostly served with small continental. Dinner excellent!
Bigger selection of cold meats would have been good.
Location and facilities
Breakfast not many choices not cappuccino and local products. Needs improvement
Stayed at Banchory Lodge hotel for 2 nites. This Hotel is set in the one of the most peaceful settings possible along the Dee River. The atmosphere is tops ! staff very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend staying with them !!!
Ideally located for our requirements, Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2026, and very dog friendly (she loved her breakfast sausage). Food is excellent and staff were very friendly and efficient. Beautifully and quirkily decorated and furnished.
Excellent service, staff very attentive, nothing too much trouble, food first class.
The property sits in the gorgeous banks of the River Dee with a nice walking path. It is very quiet and comfortable. Room was large and the bathroom was very large and had good lighting.
I would have preferred a small refrigerator in the room.
The hotel is fab. Cannot fault it. The staff are amazing. Set on the river, easy parking, comfortable rooms, excellent food and made to feel welcome. Will definitely return. We visited for four nights with our dog and had a relaxing break. The dog was also welcomed and you can eat breakfast and dinner in the bar with the dog with you. 5 star!
The attentive staff and comfortable room
Nothing to complain about
Stayed for 2 nights this week check in went smoothly and the guy at reception took us to the room. Bed was very comfy and the room was quiet. Breakfast was superb. We will return later in the year fantastic setting on the river Dee
RAS
Location outstanding. Staff proactive.
Room initially allocated had unserviceable bathroom Basically a prestigious old hotel in fabulous position trying overly hard to appeal to the modern generation. Neither one or the other.
Excellent!! Was extremely happy to have spent the night there. Attended a function outside, food great, the staff were magnificent.cant wait to go back.
That we only booked 1 night!!
Super locatie, fantastische kamer
Dikwijls niet tijdig aangevuld
- Zimmer und Aussicht - Frühstück - freundliches Personal
Terrace room had door accessible to outside for our dog
Banchory lodge is one of my favourite small hotels, the location is superb, the rooms are very well appointed and looked after. The bar is a lovely area to hang out in. There was a slight hiccup with the booking of one of our rooms, however this was dealt with very well by the receptionist on duty.
We had 2 rooms (4 adults), 1 was a double, the other was a double with a sofa bed, none of us slept particularly well as the beds were so uncomfortable. Maybe time for new mattresses!
Beautifully located next to the river
Relaxing and nicely furnished.
Schöne Lage, gutes Essen, nettes und kompetentes Personal
We liked everything about this hotel. Good size bedroom and bathroom. Great supply of toiletries, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. Comfortable bed and well decorated room. The staff were fabulous and could not have been more accommodating. Great bar and restaurant, with a really lovely view.
We felt the breakfast could have had better quality ingredients. It was fine, just not quite as good as other breakfasts we enjoyed during our stay in Scotland.
Klent tryck i duschen.
What a truly exceptional hotel! The staff were fabulous, friendly and obviously a really strong team. The chef was outstanding and our room overlooking the river Dee was simply spectacular.
Lovely property and setting, friendly staff.
Was in the room above the entrance - struggled to sleep due to continuous banging throughout the night like furniture was being moved around downstairs till early hours of morning.
Perfect location by the bank of the river Dee. Excellent food and great service from all staff
Nothing
The hotel is in a beautiful position with glorious views over the River Dee. The weather was fabulous and we enjoyed lunch and drinks out on the lovely terrace. Every single member of staff whom we encountered was friendly, helpful, efficient and cheerful. The management must be very proud of them. The food was good and breakfast in particular was excellent. We had a super bedroom, but next time we will book a room with a view. A FAB stay and we look forward to a return visit.
We have just returned from a great stay, helped by the wonderful weather! The staff throughout were extremely friendly and professional with nothing being too much trouble, especially at breakfast. The room was good, clean and well equipped. Will certainly be back.
Niets
Great stay as usual.
Very good food at the dinner. I liked the non alcoholic wine, especially in fine restaurants I miss them most of the times. The bed was very comfortable. The sound of the river was comforting.
The room was a bit noisy or maybe the neighbours were it.
Cost of wine Wi fi kept dropping out in room
Amazing location. Very comfortable rooms
All food was exceptional and the Location outstanding scenery with Rivers ,Woodlands and Hillside view points a few miles south. All of the staff were incredibly dressed smart waistcoat outfits. Perfect.
The drive is narrow for cars plus pedestrians a foot path in the future may be a thing to consider to prevent guests walking on wet ground as cars pass. No Toilet brushes, awlful things but can be a necessity
Very goox
There is no lift and my wife is disabled, so it was difficult getting up to the room
Location
Room small with only window by entrance so no privacy and no blind Lots of dust and cobwebs
Well staffed and very professional and friendly
A world-class unique location run by youthful, caring & attentive staff who love life.
