Saffron House Guesthouse

I love the guesthouse and the 2 ladies working on the receptionist are so sweet and amazing, the swimming pool very perfectic.

We found the property just as we thought it would be - you get what you pay for. A budget we could afford but also safe and secure. We had everything we needed. What made it an exceptional stay was the staff ! Anitia was an absolute gem and would rate as a super host in our opinion. The friendliness efficiency and the endless willingness to go over and above of what was expected was amazing. Anything from organizing Uber rides, helping with information or catering to special food requests and just basically appearing whenever we needed something..........always smiling helpful and very efficient. In future when visiting in the area, this would be our first choice! What an amazing host !

Saffron House Guesthouse cancelled our family holiday booking a week before Christmas with absolutely no reason provided whatsoever. We had booked 5 months earlier in July and paid in full. Travelling from UK this has added so much stress to our holiday - how are we meant to find something with such short notice and work with last minute booking rates? Absolutely despicable!

Very neat and tidy place. Could do with air conditioning though.

excellent thats all I can say I can really say I was really happy I chose the Saffron guest house from the excellent service from karla and Christo and the ladys who cleaned my room, and they served a great breakfast and the location was really good, right by the beach and a really good bus service into town, much better than any hotel I've stayed in.

The guest house is clean and and has all the basic facilities. The only issue is that it is far away from central Cape Town. Breakfast service is also a bit slow. The single beds are too narrow and uncomfortable for an adult.

We had a delicious lunch at Saffron House. For Rs350, we had an amazing fish curry and some other delicious veg thali. Great coffee too. And my husband had the Sri Lankan dessert which he said was delicious. Also free and good wifi upon request, which we needed to book a hotel. The fresh lemon soda is also the best I've had.

This property exceeds expectations of a B&B/Guest House. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with non-fussy decor. There is a lovely pool and garden, and the rooms we had both had balconies. Staff were very friendly. My main concern in advance was the location, but provided you have a car, it is only a few minutes easy drive into Cape Town..

The place was very nice. Well located. We enjoyed our stay there. But we were not happy with their breakfast. They offering very very small portion and very few options. But overall stay was satisfactory.

lovely accommodation, neat and tidy with very friendly greetings and tasty breakfast. Just a bit noisy at night with wind howling down passage way. Otherwise very pleasant stay. Good location and safe!

I booked clients for 1 night and they greeted by asked why they had not arrived at the promised time. The bedding was grubby, which considering is all white is very obvious. This is meant to be 4* Accommodation. Waited 20 minutes for a cup of coffee and breakfast, breakfast was served cold. Staff unfriendly and unaccommodating. Will not rebook or recommend this guest house.

The manager was extremely accommodating and friendly, putting me up at late notice. However there were some issues- no milk at the tea stand, no covers on some pillow cases, and very slow service at breakfast.

It was the first time I ever felt like I was still at home. Warm greetings , friendly staff and a very pleasant vibe in general. This was a REAL home away from home experience. Thanks to Esme and her husband for making us feel so welcome. The best 9 days away from home . Thanks Guys !

Although the set up of place is acceptable, the internal dynamics of staff relations has much to be desired. Inconsistent service from cleaners and animosity between staff, management and ownership results in a fragile living environment. I stayed there for 22 days, and could wait to leave. Thanks for thelma for attempting to make my stay comfortable, but your working environment was clearly not feasible to promote good guest relations

Friendly service. Nice breakfast menues. Enjoyed our stay. THANK YOU for the service. The Manager provided us with a room on the lower level although I did not put it in my original requests. The Manager is a friendly host.

I challenge the Owner of this place ( apparently nameless and certainly over the 5 days we were staying, faceless ) to come and experience her Saffron house offering over a 24 hour period. I would be concerned if she was left feeling anything less than embarrassed and apologetic ! Firstly, let's be clear about one fact. Carin is the Manager and against an apparent back-drop of a failing service business, she copes admirably and were it not for her excellent judgement, intuition, friendliness and 'accountable' mindset, our stay would have been 'hopeless' ; Carin is THE glue that holds this place together...but she needs support and I doubt that this is being offered on any front. Ignorance it would seem is bliss ?! Others have mentioned the decor - all white. This is a literal fact and for me impacts in a way that allows no soul, no heart...no 'colour' into the building. The room ( 9 ) on first glance was fine but within minutes we were aware that lots of little things were faulty - the safe wasn't working for example, there is residue coming off the linings of the curtains presumably due to extreme heat, the sliding door to the bathroom has no handle on the inside...and the door itself was off its hinges and couldn't be closed. When we later returned to the room, Carin was up a ladder, pliers and screwdrivers in hand...fixing the problem ! There are no carpets about the place ; a modern 'feel' - Yes...but sounds reverberate around the building and in the morning the paper thin partition walls do little to muffle any 'comings & goings'. The marketing advertises a pool ; someone before me has talked of this being 'uninviting' ; I would agree and add that it looks like an abandoned ( and very large ) fish pond ?! And then there's the competence of the staff. Zwelle makes every attempt to be polite and responds to queries, often with a smile. Her shorter, female colleague has a serious attitude problem which was 'bad' to the point of being toxic. No smile, no eye-contact, slouching over counters, 'what do you want for breakfast ?', no energy, no responsibility for changing sour milk for fresh despite me asking twice for this to happen, at a cost of R300 damp clothes returned to me after washing... I took it upon myself to speak directly to this lady as I was leaving. I was very conscious of not wanting to appear angry, or aloof or arrogant or 'superior' so I quietly asked - 'Do you not like working here ?' 'Yes' was her reply, again without eye contact. 'Do you not like me ?' 'Yes, I do' was her 2nd reply. 'Then why don't you make an effort to make me feel welcome...both here and in South Africa ?' She couldn't answer me but at least did mumble an apology. There was electricity load shedding this morning ; I asked why either lady had not come forward to explain what was happening about breakfast - what the problem was and what could be offered instead. Again, no interest and we duly left... The responsibility of this place living up to its advertised 4* billing is the Owners and Owners alone. Potential does exist - the beds are comfortable, the pillows similar, the poolside chairs do their job very well - but the fact remains that in the service industry sector, Saffron House is failing at almost every level of basic customer service provision.

the place is neat, secure and beautiful. That white inside is just welcoming. I can definately come back and would recommend it. Closer to the beach, restaurants and about 15 mins from V&A. We even regreted staying at some hotel before

The room was advirtised as a double luxury room, but what we got was not even a standard room. There was only towels for one guest, the bed's headbord were dirty, the carpet was burnt, the complimentary toiletries were empty, the digital safe could not open, the fitted sheet on the bed was to short and did not cover the matress. On the upside, Carin, the manager was very helpful and tried to rectify the problems and the breakfast was good.

Great spacious rooms with balcony Friendly welcome received Nice and quiete and clean Appreciated laundry facility, wifi. It would be good to place a permanent receptionist at door. Or at least place a buzzer that a staff member would respond to Try and improve ur breakfast and the service when receiving breakfast. All though u have all the ingredients the breakfast was not very good. It was also not very appetizing that the lady who was cleaning a toilet as I was walking downstairs is the one who made the breakfast. That was after 5-10 min of waiting. Finally take care of all furnishings. I.e. Slightly torn curtains etc. Otherwise I enjoyed the great facilities including pool. I loved the size of the bed and linen. I think with slight improvements especially around service, the venue would be 5 star.

Went to Saffron House Guesthouse on a three nights stay business trip, was a lovely setting in a lovely area. Centrally located and friendly staff. The breakfast served is made fresh for each guest and delicious. Rooms are kept nice and clean.

Rooms are equipped with all the necessary basics (tea, heating, etc) Service is nice and friendly. Some of the rooms have no wifi, some have very old black and white tv sets. Breakfast is too light and has not much choice. Some efforts on decoration would make the stay even more pleasant. Overall an excellent value for money experience!

The location is quiet, quite a way from Capetown (about 20 minutes), but if you rent or own a car, it is very good. Sleep comfort was exceptional - mattress, down blanket and feather pillows - better than at home. The manager was very helpful when I was experiencing car problems, and very welcoming in general. For the price I paid, I never experienced anything close to this guesthouse. A little more thought to the internal design, e.g., a bigger desk, could make it an even better accommodation.

I had a good five night stay,The room was clean, spacious and well maintained. I received wi-fi password to ensure I can continue working while at the guesthouse. Breakfast was served promptly on my request. All the Staff are friendly and made my stay very pleasant.

Welcome makes you like feel home away from home. But the was brown spot on the fitted sheet kind like a blood. Saturday my room was not made up and when I highlighted it I was told it because they thought I was inside. You made a convenience of placing the do not disturb sign in the rooms and if a person needs to make up the room comes to the door and do not find the sign the least they is to knock and find out, instead of assuming. Because the time I left I even left the sign on the door for making up my room and it means that they didn't even go back. And the time I have left they were still cleaning in other rooms but the did come and clean. And in the morning when the lady bring food I requested for tea which have never came until I went to the kitchen to request again. And when went in there was no any nice word just I will bring it in weird voice as if I am bothering her. It will been nice if she was nice and say apologies I have forgotten or say to me I very busy it slipped my mind.
