Katie at check in was excellent.
The pool was excellent
Lovely stay, comfortable room, great food and entertainment. Great location.
Stayed for one night, I booked a twin room but they upgraded me to a double with a view which I didn’t want, when I went back down to reception they said the didn’t have a twin room left, so they gave me A tenner of any drink or food, which by the way the room cost €199, I wasn’t impressed so I’ll not be staying there ever again ☹️
Excellent!
Beautiful grounds friendly staff.
Great atmosphere
Rooms look old and need updating. Only 4 channels on the TV and the TV itself was a really old model, no chance of casting to it to cover for the lack of channels. When we arrived at 3.45pm we were told that in no uncertain terms that check in time was 4. There were loads of people around reception waiting for their room to be ready. Breakfast was generally a poor experience. On the first morning we waited 20 minutes to get the food after ordering it. We ordered more toast, waited 10 minutes and it never arrived. The third morning the food arrived cold. We also had dinner 1 night and the food was nice and arrived quite quickly however when we asked for a glass of wine whilst eating, we had to ask 3 times where the wine was. Apart from the receptionist on the first day, all the staff were very friendly and I thought all areas of the hotel were kept very clean. Only thing in these Covid times was that none of the bins had foot pedals to open them.
Lovely hotel, amazing view. Friendly staff and great service.
Lovely hotel, quiet countryside, hope to stay again
I've been to many country side hotels in Ireland, and many are run down or old. You can see they were great a decade or two ago. This one is NOT one of them. Very well maintained, clean and organised. Staff was really friendly and service-minded. We ate at the restaurant and food was great and well worth the price. Nice pub too with some really good live music in the evening. Day after we enjoyed the spa area. Nice area and no kids allowed (which was a positive for us) The only complaint I would have is that everything was a bit to cold. The pool was not the temperature I would expect for a 'Thermal Suite', was about 20-25 maybe. The Sauna and the Steam room were also both much colder than expected. It's not really a Sauna if it's 40-50 degrees.
Romms were very big and spacious. Beautiful scenery on the doorstep.
This hotel has a unique blend of modern and contemporary which blends seamlessly. The staff are helpful and nothing was too much trouble
Disappointed by the Hiden charge for use of the leisure facilities! This was not clear from hotels.com website on booking. In the hotel when checking out the lady at reception seemed quite nonchalence about my comment and suggested I emailed the hotel about it...she said it was clear on their own website but I personally would not have known to even book the hot without hotels.com. I think €149 for a night's b&b would be acceptable to pay including use of the pool...but to charge an additional €10 each for use of the pool is robbery! The hotel is nicely decorated & the beds very comfortable. The shower curtain in the bathroom is dated & not acceptable, in this day and age I would expect a shower screen over the bath. The towels were tired and had lots of pulls & threads hanging from it. The breakfast was ok - standard Irish breakfast.
We had a terrific stay. There were a couple of minor glitches:we were allocated an accessible room, which we had not ordered(which meant that the bathroom was not what we wanted),and the leisure club pool did not open until 10:00 and closed to kids at 18:00,which did not please our 10 year old. However the staff were excellent and the food was outstanding. The chowder is the best I have ever tasted anywhere. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a base to explore a beautiful part of Donegal.
Decor was nice in reception area. Bar food good for adults, poor section for children-chips & more chips!!! Accommodation wasn’t great-our bathroom was damp & had rotten wood in it, damp ceilings in bedroom too, so smelt a lot. Swimming pool isn’t like web pictures - too shallow & short. No kids allowed before 11 or after 6 which is unfair seen as your in the middle of nowhere. Nothing in Gweedore so must have own transport, to get to Donegal town is over an hour & much the same to Letterkenny. Has magnificent views of Errigal mountain which is amazing 😉
It was great very nice welcoming and gentle staff we’ve get perfect tips
Overall the hotel was nice except for our bathroom.
Hotel claims to be a 4 star hotel, but lads that's stretching it a bit. What we found was the little things that make a hotel great were missing.Silly stuff like biscuits with the tea or coffee in the room, bottles of water, even the batteries in the remote for the TV were dead. Rooms were fine (maybe the decor could do with a bit of brightening up). The staff were excellent and the food was very tasty, but as I've said it was just the little things (added together) that in our opinion just keep it at 3 star level.
staff were brilliant, but had a nice spacious suite room made unpleasant by audible road noise and air conditioning unit and a room temp that was too hot. Also a very good bar and restaurant with well made food, but then strangely average buffet style breakfast. Very nice overall and well located, but at the price point wouldn't have expected some of the minor issues above.
Friendly staff and great facilities. We arrived early and we were able to check in early and our room was ready.
The hotel is lovely, reception staff, housekeeping staff & dining room staff all very friendly & helpful. Bar service on Easter Sunday left a lot to be desired. I think some of the people who should've been in the bar were seconded to Sunday Lunch in the dining room & there was 2 lads in the bar who hadn't a clue how to manage a queue or notice who was next to be served. I was also disappointed with the spa. There is a charge of 10 Euro for guests to access the spa & it is not worth it.
No Wi-Fi in rooms. Seen third world countries with better Wi-Fi No hdmi input on televisions. 18 year old TVs Swimming pool close at 5 pm ???? Rooms not hoovered. Found rubbish from previous guest.
Very nice hotel and friendly staff. We stayed two nights .Friday and Saturday On checking in on Friday night the receptionist told us it was advisable to book a table in dinning room to avoid disappointment so we booked a table for Saturday night and had the bar food Friday night and it was passable for bar food. However the Dinner menu in the dinning room Saturday night was exactly the same as bar food menu that we had previous night which was a bit of a let down .
Excellent beautiful hotel great staff
Lovely spot scenic and remote Lovely room Self service breakfast (plates could be warmer) Food in bar excellent Beautiful place for family do wedding
Stayed for a wedding that was happening in the hotel. Beautiful location and a lovely stay.
Lovely Hotel with stunning views. Comfortable clean room. Beautiful food and helpful staff. Would recommend.
Great hotel and facilities
Generally disappointing. Expensive for standard of accomodation. Staff need training in hospitality skills and roles.
Great hotel but need to drive everywhere although the pub and restaurant are good. Great place to relax.
Possible one of the most beautiful backgrounds for a hotel in the world. Stunning area and unique friendly people. Love Donegal, a truly different place to go.
Lovely hotel situated in very scenic area. Just an overnight stay, great food, good service, my only gripe would be that a band were playing at a function, it was quite loud, this made conversation in the restaurant difficult, and it also could be heard in the bedrooms until quite late. Great if you were attending the function, but for those of us who weren’t, not so good.
Lovely hotel....really professional staff. We have stayed here last year as well... Child enjoyed the swimming pool....
Hotel bedrooms need modernising, peeling paint in the bathrooms & dated showers. Towels were bath towels instead of bath sheets which you would expect from a 4* hotel & all were thin in quality. No bottled water either, we had stayed in a B&B IN Ballyshannon the previous night 1/2 the price with better quality towels etc & bottled water. The hotel was busy each night we were there (3) & you could clearly tell they were short staffed. They couldn’t open the restaurant on the first night for this reason. The staff that were on duty in the bar & restaurant( 2nd night) were pleasantly & friendly however the reception staff lacked rapport. Food is average. It’s in a fantastic location however skimping on quality.
Fabulous views of Mount Errigal from our room. Hotel within short distance of Glenveagh National Park with its beautiful, wild and dramatic scenery. A great place from which to explore the Wild Atlantic Way including Donegal’s north and west coasts. Bar food in hotel very good and Guinness excellent!
We stayed here for one night an d had a lovely room with good view. Breakfast was very good. We didn't have time to use the leisure center or dine in the hotel but would definitely stay here again.
Staff was top notch. The food and service were excellent. If you want to stay in Donegal area, I would highly recommend this hotel
The bar and breakfast room were nice and comfortable but the bedroom was small, a little dark and somewhat cramped. The TV was tiny. Hotel is situated in lovely area and the food was good. Breakfast was fresh and staff were friendly
Nice hotel with incredible view of Mt. Errigal. Room was ok, somewhat dated. Staff was nice and accommodating. Our room had a view of the roof HVAC system, so would recommend confirming with hotel.
The hotel was a beautiful pearl nestled beside a flowing river in the green seaside are of West County Donegal. All the staff were polite, warm and friendly. The food in the dining room (dinner) was well prepared and tasty. The Gweedore area is right around the corner from Bunbeg's picturseque tiny harbor, and very close to at least three gatherings of excellent Irish musicians. A restful dream.
One of the nicest hotels to stay with fantastic scenery
Beautiful surroundings, breakfast was excellent, hotel was spotless and staff were very helpful and friendly
Arrived into the bedroom to discover previous guest clothing in the wardrobe - gave an immediate impression that the room wasn't properly cleaned. Hotel wasn't very busy - not many in the reception area / bar area / restaurant and the room we were given had a view overlooking the roof at the back of the hotel. Location of the hotel is remote surrounded with beautiful scenery and felt it would have been nice to enjoy this view from our room. Wifi is very poor throughout the hotel - non existent in the bedrooms. Many of those who were in the bar wanting to watch a boxing match left to go elsewhere to watch it as the hotel could not facilitate the showing of the match.
lovely comfortable hotel very clean Staff friendly helpful Food excellent
Very good overall excellent service and delicious dinner and breakfast
A perfect location for an overnight stay. Great view of Errigal from our room and we were blessed with great weather. Took full advantage of the leisure facilities which were excellent. The steam room is the best I have experienced and we got pummelled (in a good way) in the hydrotherapy pool. Very relaxing. Breakfast was great and the staff throughout are excellent, sincerely friendly and attentive.
Friendly staff, enormous rooms with comfy beds. Very slow wifi.
Our stay here was lovely. The room and hotel was exactly as advertised. Got a good night's sleep and a tasty breakfast the next day.
Lovely hotel Great rural location Nice dinner Friendly
Excellent hotel with the most amazing location. always use when in the area for business. big gym, good pool and great staff, food and service.
A Great hotel to stay in for a winter break, lovelly drives along the wild Atlantic way, lovelly scenery and the weather was perfect but cold. The food in the hotel was excellent as was the service.
River view, great facilities, big pools, huge breakfast, good service
Staff is very friendly. The food is nice and the rooms are big and clean . The pool is great to relax and swim. The view outside the hotel is amazing.
we basically just had bed and breakfast - car park could be better explained they have an overflow car park we were not aware of.
Best evening meal I’ve had in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
