Carnation Rest

Nous avons passé deux nuits dans cette charmante guest house. Nous avons été particulièrement bien accueillis. La chambre est très propre et calme. Les petits déjeuners sont excellents et servis dans une véranda. Notre hôte a été de très bon conseil et nous a aidés à organiser notre séjour (réservation de tuk-tuk, conseils sur les endroits à visiter, etc.). Nous avons beaucoup apprécié sa disponibilité et sa gentillesse.

Tout était parfait

La chambre triple est propre, un lit double et un lit simple. Moquette au sol. Salle de bain avec douche, wc, lavabo. Petit déjeuner très copieux. Organisation d'un transfert vers le parc national Horton plains avec un chauffeur parfait pour nous.

It was a simple, but clean and comfortable stay. The staff was friendly, and like everyone in Sri Lanka, they would go out of their way to help. The location is very central, easy to walk to all the main points across town. The breakfast was very generous. There is a Barista coffee shop right next to it - perfect if you need that second coffee in the morning like me :)

Super accueil, le personnel est très attentionné et de bon conseil. Ils nous ont organisé tous nos déplacements.

Les hotes sont super accueillants et se démènent pour nous aider à organiser toutes les activités dont on leur parle. Nous conseillent des chauffeurs de Taxi et Tuktuk de qualité. Le petit déjeuner est excellent. Merci pour tout, Nous recommandons vivement.

L'accueil du personnel, gentils et très arrangeants ! La propreté de la chambre et l'espace ! Le petit déjeuner était bon également!

Les équipements de la salle de bain étaient étonnants, l'évacuation d'eau (un trou dans le coin de douche) et d'air (une petite ouverture en haut du mur) mais rien de trop contraignant, plutôt surprenant !

Le personnel est très agréable et toujours prêt à rendre service . On nous a amenés prendre le train à Ambewela , conseillé un restaurant très sympa, … Il est très bien situé , un peu à l’écart du centre mais assez proche pour s’y rendre à pied.

Super cute place , clean, have everything you need in the room. All the staff were really nice. They can arrange taxi service for you at a very very reasonable price. One morning, I had to leave the hotel at 5:00am, they were so kind to prepare take away breakfast for me early in that morning.

Property is humble and well kept. It is good value for money, breakfast was fulfilling and varied. The room was medium size but enough for two people and super clean. The shower was very hot which we appreciated as the weather was cold. The manager was very helpful and helped us book a car to Haputale on a short notice and good price.

There was another guest smoking inside, and staff should make clear to enforce no smoking indoors.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Carnation rest. The room was spacious with a separate living area that make it very comfortable. The staffs were very efficient and friendly. They even offered to wash our clothes which was very nice. Breakfast served in a cute little room and was more than adequate.

We stayed just one night at Carnation Rest in Nuwara Eliya and it was a truly wonderful experience. The property, surrounded by beautiful, well-kept plants, feels like a mountain chalet: unique and charming for its atmosphere. Since this is a cooler area of Sri Lanka, the property offers all the comforts to best enjoy the lower temperatures. We were welcomed with excellent tea and biscuits, and the morning breakfast was absolutely delicious. The staff, very kind, also recommended a restaurant that turned out to be an excellent choice. A wonderful place, with a unique and evocative atmosphere, that is definitely worth experiencing.

Schattig, houten verblijf. Kamer was erg groot, met ook een woonkamer incl. koffie/thee faciliteiten. Fijn om daar even op de bank te kunnen zitten na een hike. Host is erg aardig en behulpzaam. Ontbijt is ook top (westers, en erg veel (toasts, yoghurt, omelet, fruit en cake).

De muren zijn erg dun, je kunt letterlijk het gesprek volgen van de andere kamers. De kussens van het bed roken erg vies (beetje schimmelachtig), die moeten vervangen worden.

Great acceuil with tea and cake, with the best tea we had in Sri Lanka. Very cozy, nice wood smell everywhere, nice decor overall great vibe. The shower had warm water, albeit with low water pressure. Good location at the doorstep of Nuwara Eliya.

Prima uitvalsbasis om Nuwara Eliya te verkennen. Personeel is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Kregen heerlijk ontbijtpakket mee voor de wandeling naar Horton’s Plains en ook het ‘gewone’ ontbijt de volgende dag was lekker. Toen we aankwamen regende het en het was koud. We hebben dankbaar gebruik gemaakt van het kacheltje. Fijn dat alle bedden in de familiekamer een klamboe hebben. Je kunt vanaf het hotel lopend naar het park en verschillende restaurantjes.

Hier kan het hotel niets aan doen, maar we moesten even slikken toen we aankwamen, vanwege het aanzicht. Achter het hotel staat een hoog niet afgemaakt gebouw dat er wat eng uitziet. Maar bij een zonnetje de volgende dag was het al beter dan bij aankomst in de regen. En gelukkig zie je het vanuit je kamer niet. Onze kamers waren wat vochtig, maar het bleek al twee weken geregend te hebben. Wellicht is dit dus niet altijd zo.

Logement en bois chaleureux, petit déjeuner pas mal du tout et surtout personnel hyper gentil et serviable. C'était propre et bien équipé.

Absence de volets, emplacement un peu éloigné de tout (gare, centre ville, resto, ...). Rapport qualité-prix

Very warm welcome. Convenient location (close to Victoria park, walking distance to city centre). Clean room. Excellent breakfast . Nice living room with sofa.

The location was good, easy walk to the lake and the town. The staff were lovely and breakfast was great.

Place was under renovation, which made the place dusty and noisy. Some rooms had no hot water. The walls were too thin so could hear in other rooms and noise from the street.

The staff was very friendly and hospitable. Specially Haritha was very helpful.Location was good.

The staff was very kind, welcoming dedicated and helpful, this deserves 5 stars just for that :) Furthermore the place is comfortable with a nice véranda with Flowers for breakfast.

10 mins walk to town. Very close to Pizza Hut & Dominos. Dark and gloomy property which appeared not to have received any investment for many years. There were a lot of flies in our room and in the dining room. Laundry was being dried in the dining room.

A very nice inn midway between the town and the lake. A good simple breakfast, very helpful staffe and comfortable common areas.

Small hotel that some how provides comfort to weary travelers

Charmant petit hôtel dans une petite rue. Chambre très confortable, literie impeccable et, cerise sur le gâteau, une couverture moelleuse et chaude. La salle de bain est nickel. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et complet.Le personnel est adorable, aux petits soins. Nous avons été accueillis avec du thé et des petits gâteaux. Grand merci !

Great hosts

The build of the property has lovely woodwork and lots of plants to make it cozy.

The walls were thin that you could hear people talking downstairs and the smoking lingered upstairs.

Nice hosts, very helpful. Good location, close to shops and restaurants. Very good value for the money.

Large room with a front seating area. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Good quiet location about 10 minute walk to the main part of town. The supermarket is a 5 minute walk the other direction. The breakfast was very good toast, omelet, mixed fruit plate, yogurt, marmalade, cake, and tea or coffee.

Cozy B&B, clean, comfortable and very centric. Walkable to the city center. The staff is great. Hassi, from the hotel, arranged to show me around the places I wanted to visit and for a good rate. He was great company and safe driver. The continental breakfast is also very good and complete. Lastly, I work remote and the wifi was reliable and worked perfectly for what I needed.

Good location and a comfortable stay

Wir haben 2 Nächte in diesem kleinen Hotel übernachtet und waren sehr positiv überrascht. In unseren bislang 4 Unterkünften auf Sri Lanka war dies mit Abstand die Beste. Das Haus wird mit Liebe geführt, es ist sehr schön dekoriert und es gibt überall tolle Pflanzen. Die Lage ist ruhig, aber alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Unser Zimmer war groß und schön, hatte einen kleinen Schrank und einen großen Spiegel sowie genug Ablageflächen, die in anderen Unterkünften häufig nicht vorhanden sind. Das Bad ist sauber, und gibt warmes Wasser. Die Betten waren super bequem, wir hatten in unserem Family Room zwei Doppelbetten und ein Einzelbett. Es gab extra warme Decken und wir haben - trotz kühler Außentemperatur - nicht gefroren. Das WLAN ist super schnell. Zudem war das Frühstück wirklich toll, es gab sowohl Dhal als auch Omelette, frisches Obst, Jogurt und Toast. Am zweiten Morgen gab es statt Dhal Coconut Pancakes ;-). Die Besitzer sind super nett, der Sohn spricht sehr gutes Englisch und hat uns netterweise noch mit seinem Auto zum Busbahnhof gefahren. Wir können die Unterkunft wirklich besten Gewissen weiterempfehlen!

This property is gorgeous - reminds me of a chalet and well located. Whilst the bedrooms are humble the buildings architecture is well done and the breakfast area is particularly wholesome. What really stood however is the staff who were warm, generous, friendly and accommodating. Thank you for making us feel at home :)

Small hotel, with comfortable bed & enough blankets! The breakfast was amazing, and the hotel staff was also really kind. The furnitures are old, but it wasn't an issue for us. We got towels and we could have a hot shower after our long day. Enjoyed our stay, thanks!

Great location and breakfast. The room was ok as well, it had a small sunny area where you could have a complimentary tea. They also helped us hire a tuktuk driver for the day that drove us around and showed us great locations for a good price

Rooms are spacious, beds are comfy, room and bathroom are very clean. Nice calm surroundings. They had special attention on our kids food. Food was good. Hot water is with good temperature. Staff is super helpful. They even attended to our special request on arranging a theewheeler at a reasonable price to see a waterfall. Super accessible from the city. Only 5min drive. We had the best value for our money.

Responsive and a very helpful staff! Great breakfast!Walkable distance to main spots of Nuwara Eliya. Everything was clean and if anything was needed, staff quickly provided that for us. We went to Horton plains at 5:30 in the morning and had our breakfast to go. Overall, it was both a great experience and pleasure!

The hosts were very friendly. They made a great effort to make you feel home. We also got some recommendations for walks and hikes. The room was nice, clean, and cozy.

The architecture. The staffs were very kind and polite. The whole atmosphere were welcoming... I had a peaceful sleep and good rest as I felt like at home during my stay here. The location also was great as it was very close to the town.

The welcome tea was so heartwarming. Their staffs are really nice and one staff helped us a lot to decide what to see and where to eat in. The breakfast was also nice. You can feel like at home in this hotel.

The place is very special because of Haritha. It literally means plantations and he is doing so many nice indoor plants projects apart from doing room services. The hotel is clean, quiet, and close to the centre. We stayed in 3 different places in Nuwara Eliya, and for the last few years, maybe few dozens. So far, the best place. We stayed in their apartment.

Excellent stay which was fairly central. Good parking as well and staff were very friendly and gave us great suggestions on what to do. Breakfast was also great - would defintely recommend this plave to stay.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Originally a booking for 2 nights, they made sure we could stay in the same room. Clean and convenient. Good breakfast or breakfast packs on the go. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, always looking after us.

Everything! From the host’s welcoming to the food, one could eat on the floor, the comfortable room, hot shower separated from the toilet and all the service provided. They even drove us to the train station. I strongly recommend!!

The best thing about this property was the manager Hasi he is so humble soft spoken and good that it will fill you with warmth despite the cool weather there. He is a gem of a person and you just have to ask it, he has solutions for your every problem, be it stay, food, travel, pick up, or rest and amenities he has them all covered. The property is pretty well looked after, good location.

Spacious room(s) and bathroom. It gets cold up there at night so it was great to have a proper blanket. The breakfast room is a glass house and gets hit by the sun just right in the morning. Very cozy.

The breakfast was in-line with what we had so far but not extravagantly so. We wanted to have an early start but despite agreeing on the breakfast time the night before (7.30am), they only started serving it at 8am.

Wonderful, kind and helpful host, who arranged trips for us at very resonable prices. Accomodation is basic but very clean and comfortable. We had a little sun room on the side of our room which was lovely to sit in and drink tea.

Amazing place, fantastic service, kind people. Our stay was our favorite in Sri Lanka because the staff was so kind to us. My husband I were not well when we arrived and they took such good care us, sent us to the doctor, asked about our health everyday and very sweetly packed us a breakfast to go on our very early morning train. We will stay here any time we come back! Also loved the abundance of hot water and lovely shower pressure. Sometimes those little things make such a difference!
