We had a wonderful stay at The Celestine Kyoto Gion. The room was extremely comfortable most importantly quiet, making it very easy to relax after a day exploring Kyoto. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the onsen. It was incredible to be able to unwind there both in the morning and again in the evening. After a full day of sightseeing, having such a beautiful and relaxing bath to return to was a real treat. We would happily stay here again when visiting Kyoto.

Bardzo dobra lokalizacja. Hotel dyskretny, można przejść obok ulicą i nie wiedzieć, że to hotel. Miejsce doskonale i harmonijnie komponuje się z otoczeniem. Doskonała obsługa gości i ogólny klimat. Pokoje bardzo duże jak na Jaoonię i duże jak na warunki europejskie. Ogromne podwójne łóżko. Bardzo fajne rozwiązania w pokoju. Czysto. Dobre śniadania.

All was perfect, the size of our room, the comfort of the beds, very clean, very well maintained. The location is perfect, the amazing garden just in front of the hotel. Very pleasant, I didn't want to leave the hotel.

I'd like to have international TV channels and a selection of teas. There was only green tea available.

Ziemliche unfreundliche Dame an der Rezeption. Wir wollten lediglich eine Auskunft über das public bath. Die Antwort war kurz angebunden , unfreundlich und wenig zufriedenstellend.

Un niveau hôtelier excellent et le sens du détail : cadeau d’arrivée, chambre exceptionnellement fournie (jusqu’à avoir un kit skincare…), navette depuis et vers Kyoto station gratuite, salon pour les guest avec tea time et Happy hour … Un personnel bien que peu anglophone mais très mobilisé pour vous faire passer le meilleur séjour possible !

My favorite hotel not only in Kyoto, but honestly one of my favorite hotels ever. I’ve stayed at many luxury hotels around the world, but experiencing authentic Kyoto style while still having a modern, contemporary feel is something completely different. It has the perfect balance of traditional Kyoto vibes and modern luxury. The location is also excellent, with many of Kyoto’s main attractions easily accessible from the hotel. The hotel is exceptionally clean, and the customer service is truly one of the best I’ve experienced. I even forgot my wallet when I checked out, and the staff tried calling me multiple times to make sure I got it back. That level of care really says a lot about their service. They provide daily skincare products and toothbrushes, and everything is refreshed every day. They also offer a complimentary happy hour with drinks, alcohol, and snacks, which is such a lovely touch. This hotel is absolutely worth every penny. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about. Highly recommended 10! ❤️

The hotel was an amazing experience from the moment you stepped inside. The location was amazing because many temples and shopping areas were very near and otherwise we just walked to the next bus station. The hotel was modern and very aestetic but still had a traditional japanese touch. The room was very clean and we had plenty of space.

Great breakfast with good variety. Has omelette bar, noodle bar, and western + Asian options - Excellent hospitality -⁠ ⁠Tastefully designed. Limited space in Gion district but doesn’t feel cramped at all inside the hotel. Rooms' doors face an indoor skywell containing trees and plantation, which integrates nature into the accommodation. The skywell gives it a spacious feel. -⁠ Our room is situated on the first floor so there’s no view but a view of the small garden. Plenty of sunlight goes into the room. - Room design is efficient; utilizes limited space well. Two sliding doors can segregate washing area (snack bar + coffee machine table, toilet room, shower room) from the sleeping area (bed + TV) completely. •⁠ ⁠Small sauna with a single pool

Snack and drink bar is nice, but could have more variety. The "working space" is combined with the bar, which could have been situated in a quieter location. Rooms could have been larger (hence the "value for money" deduction). The queen-size/double bed takes up the majority of the room. However, there are separate spaces for the toilet and bath area. A snack bar + coffee machine area exists to divide the sleeping area from the washing area.

We really liked our stay at the Hotel Celestine…the location was perfect. Down a quiet street but easily walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. We also used the local train to explore Kyoto and took a quick cab to/from the train station (they do have a shuttle but we arrived late at night and left early in the morning outside of its operational time). The public Onsen was really nice, very clean and not very busy, in fact I had it all to myself. We did have the breakfast one morning and it was fantastic. A lot of food with a huge variety of Japanese and Western cuisine. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room small but nice and clean - it had everything we needed.

룸뷰가 중정 쪽이라서, 약간의 답답함이 있어 살짝 아쉬웠습니다. 이 빼고는 거의 완벽한 숙소였습니다.

Servizio Free drink alcolici nella Lounge solo dalle 16-18 . In quell’ora si è in giro per la città o comunque presto per alcolici. Sarebbe meglio una scheda con un numero di drink offerti e un cliente può utilizzarli quando desidera. Altrimenti è un servizio non usufruibile.

Die Bar war etwas „pricy“, aber dies ist auch der einzige Kritikpunkt…

Die freundlichste Mitarbeiterin im Servicebereich - die ich je gesehen habe - bediente uns von Ankunft, über Check-in, bis zum Check-out mit Verabschiedung. Der Service von den anderen Mitarbeitern war auch sehr gut. Happy Hour (jeden Tag 2h) mit kostenlosen Drinks - sehr cool! Super um mit anderen Gästen ins Gespräch zu kommen.

Die Zimmer waren für eine Familie mit einem Baby, Kinderwagen und zwei Koffern zu klein - für den Preis. Raucherbereiche zu klein und schlecht belüftet.

Accoglienza, staff, posizione

La localisation de l’hôtel ne pourrait pas être plus incroyable. A GION vous serez au cœur du vieux Kyoto, proches des temples principaux du centre et de l’est, tout en pouvant rejoindre le centre ville (moderne) en 15 min à pied. Les chambres sont confortables (matelas et oreillers extrêmement confortables) , peu spacieuses en revanche (a moins de prendre une suite) mais bien aménagées et surtout très bien équipées. Le petit déjeuner y est très bon, complet, autant pour les occidentaux que les voyageurs asiatiques.

Le check in est un peu cafouillé, du moins pour une gamme d’hôtel 5* qui propose un Check in “express” à ses clients par mail. Ensuite le “lounge” laisse à désirer, entre un distributeur à café type gare ou station d’autoroute et un espace qui est moyennement accueillant et donne peu envie d’y siroter un des pourtant nombreux whiskeys proposés. Nonobstant la qualité certaine des chambres, deux points sont à améliorer : les interrupteurs trop high tech pour les luminaires sont en fait peu intuitifs et le panel de contrôle pour la climatisation juste à côté du lit émet des LED qui sont trop visibles dans le noir complet. Par ailleurs pour les chambres (hors suites) doubles, une option pour arrêter le nettoyage automatique des WC -parfois longtemps après avoir tirer la chasse -serait apprécié.

I read so many good reviews that I had really high expectations. But I just found it ok, not good value for the money. A bit cold environment, the guest lounge doesn’t really offer anything - different that other hotels in Japan.

Beautiful hotel and rooms. The rooms were spacious by Japanese standards. The hotel is situated in Gion which has a number of great small restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. The included lounge was a great spot to relax and have a drink and snack and meet other travelers staying at the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel!

Everything was fantastic

Un excellent compromis à Kyoto et IDEALEMENT situé. Nous avions une Suite Junior et la chambre était vraiment TOP avec un ménage 2 fois par jour et les produits du Minibar renouvelés INTEGRALEMENT tous les jours. Ca parait basic pour un 5 étoiles mais le Celestine est plutôt classé 4 étoiles +. Le personnel est vraiment Top et aux petits soins !!! On est dans un hôtel plus abordable donc le PDJ est limité, ça fait très cantine mais bon quand même. Le quartier est génial, à 2 pas du centre de Gion pour tester tous les restos typiques :-)

2 points noirs pour nous : - Le Lounge. C'est minuscule et peu approvisionné, soit on fait un VRAI lounge (payant), soit rien car là c'est vraiment pas terrible - Le Restaurant : nullement adapté aux familles avec un Menu unique mais sans être un restaurant gastronomique non plus donc positionnement très étrange

It’s got a great onsen, a shuttle to Kyoto Station, location is superb and the staff is very friendly I have to give special mention to their Concierge team, they bring their A-game everyday, they planned some amazing meals and experiences for us. Went above and beyond every time. Thank you!

Hotel Celestine is een ideaal gelegen middelgroot hotel met lokale Japanse charme en moderne luxe. We hadden als gezin 3 Superior Twin kamers en deze waren zeer comfortabel en ruim. Alles oogt en voelt supernieuw en alles is brandschoon. De ontbijtzaal is gezellig, de keuze is heel ruim en de kwaliteit is hoog. Het hotel is rustig gelegen en lopend kun je makkelijk en snel naar zowel het 'oude' als het 'nieuwere' gedeelte van Kyoto. De gratis pendelbus van en naar het Kyoto station hebben we vaak gebruikt, ideaal. Er is een hele moderne onsen waar je gratis gebruik van mag maken. Ook leuk is de dagelijkse Happy Hour einde middag, waar je even samen kunt bijkomen van een drukke en warme dag. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam, je voelt je continu welkom en op je gemak. Dus als je een mooi, luxe en centraal gelegen hotel in Kyoto zoekt: kies The Celestine!

Bra hotel med bra läge personalen var väldigt trevlig. Frukosten var bra man kunde få lite av en skolmatsals känsla men allt var gott men behöver dock komma tidigt på morgonen för att få plats.

Beautiful property, everything we needed. we extended our stay twice

First, the location: right in the heart of the Gion district. Step out of the hotel and you’re immediately surrounded by the buzz of restaurants, parks, temples, and traditional streets—all within walking distance. The hotel features modern architecture and has its own paid parking. The room is small, but the bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is small but functional. Very simple but good public bath (no sauna, no cold pool). The Western-style breakfast was delicious.

Parking is paid, dinner is outrageously expensive.

Le prix du petit déjeuner un peu excessif ainsi que le prix du service de laundry, on aurait préféré une salle avec machines à laver le linge en libre accès.

Świetna lokalizacja, dosłownie kilka kroków i jesteś na słynnej uliczce z widokiem. Bardzo czysto, wygodnie. Polecam także onsen.

조용한 곳에 위치해서 쉬다 오기 좋은 곳입니다. 더운 날씨에 냉방도 잘되고 욕실에 물도 잘 나왔어요. Public bath 도 깨끗하고 물이 좋아서 거의 매일 잘 이용했습니다. 교토역까지 셔틀버스가 다녀서 시간 맞춰서 다니기 편했습니다.

방음이 잘 안되서 위층 소음이 그대로 다 들렸어요. 화장실 변기수압이 좀 낮아서 불편했어요. 체크인 하는 공간이 좀 혼잡해서 힘들게 로비에 도착했을때 편한 느낌이 없었습니다.

Der Onsen war nicht überzeugend und auf den Fotos deutlich größer und hübscher. Die Unterstützung des Front-Desks war sehr mühsam und entweder hat das Restaurant qualitativ nicht gepasst, oder man wurde in ein anderes als das gewünschte umgeleitet.

Maravilloso hotel, decorado con excelente gusto, habitaciones muy amplias, muy bien situado en Gion, en el centro al lado de un templo. Hall super agradable para pasar un rato descansando. Y los baños públicos excelentes!

The strongest suit of this hotel is its location. Amazing. Walking distance to major destinations and landmarks. Rooms quite big, well organised, well equipped in anything you might need on holidays.

It’s a bit of a hit and miss on all fronts. Breakfast selection was amazing but they put out frozen donuts on one of the mornings( mistake corrected after guests’ complaints). Breakfast restaurant space feels like a canteen. It’s not a nice space to enjoy your meal. There is a bar that serves as a guest lounge during the day but it’s the smallest, claustrophobic space, without the window. Not welcoming at all. There is a complimentary bus to and from train station but when we wanted to use it we were told it was very late and we were better off using a taxi. We were very surprised by this. There were a couple of instances of noise. On one night there was a lot of arguing and shouting in a couple of the rooms on our floor and on another occasion there was a party noise coming from a different room…

Ausgezeichnetes Hotel mit hervorragendem, überaus höflichen sowie stets aufmerksamen Personal. Mein Zimmer war perfekt ausgestattet, vergleichsweise groß, in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand und zudem super sauber. Ergänzend hervorheben möchte ich das sehr gute Frühstück, das neben "Klassikern" immer einige Besonderheiten bietet. Von der Lage im Viertel Gion her lassen sich viele Sehenswürdigkeiten zu Fuß erreichen - ein weiteres Plus. Daher eine eindeutige Empfehlung meinerseits, das Hotel würde ich jederzeit wieder wählen.

Air conditioning could have been more effective. It was capped at 20 degrees and heat in Kyoto was exceptional. Would have preferred the ability to select a lower temperature.
