Very pleasant and friendly environment. A particularly beautiful landscape. Staff are all very friendly and helpful.
Nothing.
Booked my dad and stepmum in for the weekend . Grace helped choose a suitable room and staff looked after them all weekend. They had a fantastic stay and couldn’t say enough about the room and warm reception from everyone.
Superb in all respects: friendly and helpful staff, excellent room, great view and very good food. Loved it!
We traveled from South Carolina, USA and the service, food, and accommodations are excellent! Meals are delicious! Great location to visit Mizen Head and Three Castle Head. A 5-star hotel!
The location is exquisite. Whoever did the interior design also did a superb job.
Gym was under renovation and we were not aware of that at time of booking, which was disappointing.
Staff room and dinnet
Would have like more variety for breakfast
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Park Hotel Kenmare. The location was perfect as it was an easy walk to town and adjacent the Kenmare Golf Club. Our room was nicely appointed and good in size. The staff and service at check in and while dining were lovely. Very friendly, professional and attentive. The hotel was clean, the grounds were beautiful and the atmosphere was quiet and very enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Pro Tip: not all rooms have air conditioning. Inquire when making reservations if you prefer a room with individual climate control.
Absolutely a must when planning to visit Kenmare. This hotel is right in town yet you would never know it. It is nestled off of Shelbourne Rd and the views from the hotel are amazing. You will be able to sit and view the mountains from your room, the restaurant and the bar. The music from the pianist in the evenings is heart warming. The only thing we missed out on was the spa which was under renovation and due to open in August. I was able to do yoga each morning with Katie who was just hired as their spa manager and comes from the US. It was great to be able to start my days this way.
My wife and I stayed one night at the Park Hotel Kenmare during an eight-day trip through southwest Ireland. We booked a king room on a bed-and-breakfast rate and found the service friendly and prompt throughout our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. There was no air conditioning, but the hotel had been clear about that in advance, so it was neither a surprise nor a complaint. The only real drawback was an odd mildew smell in the bathroom area, likely related to the age of the property. Fortunately, simply closing the bathroom door took care of it. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay in a charming older hotel.
Having just returned from an amazing few days in PKH with some friends, I could not recommend the Hotel more highly to anyone. The Park Kenmare Hotel in Kerry is one of those rare places that feels both quietly luxurious and deeply personal. It is elegant and welcoming in a way that immediately makes you slow down and settle in. The staff are a huge part of what makes the hotel so special. Everyone we encountered was warm, attentive, and thoughtful, with that wonderful ability to be present exactly when needed and discreet when not. The service feels sincere rather than scripted, which is increasingly rare and all the more memorable. One of the highlights was Harvey the barman, who recommended a delightful Irish whiskey for us all, after an amazing meal. After many Whiskeys were consumed late in the evening, Harvey without being asked and with perfect timing arrived with some well deserved toasted sandwiches at 1am, to the delight of us all. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a calm, timeless atmosphere that suits its setting perfectly. The artwork throughout the property deserves particular mention. It gives the hotel character and depth, adding a sense of culture and individuality rather than the bland sameness that can sometimes define luxury hotels. Sitting down at breakfast, enjoying a morning coffee, with views of the Kerry landscape out one window and then to the left of you, stunning pieces of Sean Scully artwork. It is like a battle between nature and man trying to capture your attention. All you can do is admire, order another coffee and let the battle resume. What stays with you most, though, is the tranquility. The Park Kenmare has a peacefulness that is hard to manufacture. Kerry’s natural beauty surrounds the hotel, but inside there is also a stillness and sense of escape that makes it easy to properly unwind. It is the kind of place where mornings feel slower, conversations feel easier, and time seems to stretch in the best possible way. For anyone looking for a beautiful retreat in one of Ireland’s most special settings, it is a truly outstanding choice and somewhere I would happily return to. Well done Mark and Team.
Our two-night stay at the Park Hotel Kenmare was an absolute delight. It is rare to find a hotel that manages to honour its history while embracing such an exciting new vision, but the transformation here has been beautifully judged. The restoration of the rooms is exceptional—elegant, understated and wonderfully comfortable, retaining all the character of this historic hotel while introducing a fresh sense of style. Every detail feels considered, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel is warm, relaxed and quietly luxurious. What impressed us most was the extraordinary collection of contemporary art woven throughout the building. Rather than simply decorating the walls, the art becomes part of the experience, inviting you to pause, reflect and discover something new around every corner. Seeing works by artists such as Sean Scully, Dorothy Cross, Elizabeth Columba, Guggi, Theaster Gates, Park Seo-Bo and even Andy Warhol in the setting of a grand Victorian hotel creates a remarkable dialogue between old and new. It’s unlike any hotel collection we’ve encountered and elevates the entire experience. (Park Hotel Kenmare) The staff deserve equal praise. Every member of the team was genuinely welcoming, attentive and effortlessly helpful, making us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. The gardens are beautifully maintained and provide a wonderfully peaceful setting, while the hotel’s location is perfect—just a short stroll into the heart of Kenmare, with its excellent restaurants, charming streets and wonderful galleries. It’s also exciting to see the investment continuing with the new spa currently under construction. If the care and attention that’s gone into every other aspect of the hotel is anything to go by, it promises to be something very special. We already have an excellent reason to return when it opens. The Park Hotel Kenmare has always been a special place, but it now feels as though it is entering a remarkable new chapter. We left thoroughly impressed and are already looking forward to our next visit.
We stayed in The Park Kenmare for 1 night to kick off our summer holidays in Kerry. From the moment we pulled up we were warmly greeted, helped with luggage and invited inside. Mark at reception gave us refreshments and a little tour of the facilities in the main house. He made us feel welcome with 2 kids and was so knowledgeable about the art and area. Our room was beautiful and the turndown service was a lovely touch. The food was the best we have tasted anywhere, both dinner and breakfast! The pool facilities are so tastefully done and have everything you could need. We can't wait to return from Offaly and see the new renovations. 5* experience. Thank you.
This is a hotel in transition from proud Victorian mainstay to eclectic reinvention. The staff at all levels chat with you about the vision of the new owner who is bringing in his exceptional modern art collection, shutting and renovating some areas and reinventing others. You can’t tell right away who is the owner or brother of the owner or waitress or upstairs neighbor with a chef — these folks seem to know abd care about each other and treat guests like old friends. Though the vibe is dynamic it doesn’t feel like a construction zone but more so an energetic presence that is part of its community, not isolated behind a gate. Art includes themes about human rights and women (we were told by a former porter-turned-art-collection-docent that the owner’s female relatives helped inspire this). As an example of a cute detail, turn-down service left a vintage radio bedside playing a Wagner opera, which actually felt about right at the end of the day. Loved the food, the risotto was a top 5 vegetarian meal of my life. Old gardens with a magical view of the water. I would travel back just to visit this hotel again and see what creative changes are underway. Such a kind staff team. Thank you for an amazing stay.
I last visited this hotel in 1996 (30 years ago!) and finally returned. The hotel has since been purchased and is in the process of being renovated. Our room was beautiful and the view out to the back of the property was gorgeous. Service was perfect and we enjoyed conversation with other guests at the small, cozy bar in the evenings. They are in the process of adding a few new rooms which would be nice to check out. Some rooms have yet to be renovated so ask before you book. Love this hotel. It was the highlight of our trip to Ireland! And the town of Kenmare was also our favorite town.
Mo Farm recently managed to steal a rare evening away from the farm to attend the Music at the Park event featuring Martin Hayes and Peadar Ó Riada, and what an exceptional experience it was. The journey began before we even arrived. A special mention to Allie on reception, who went above and beyond to help secure tickets and ensure everything was arranged seamlessly. Her warmth, professionalism and willingness to help set the tone for what proved to be a wonderful evening. Dinner beforehand was equally impressive. Zoe, our waitress, delivered service that perfectly balanced professionalism with genuine warmth and a great sense of humour. Every detail was looked after with care and attention. The hospitality was outstanding, and the food was simply superb. The concert itself was magical, but what really stood out was the complete experience created by the Park Hotel team. From the first phone call to the final farewell, every interaction reflected the highest standards of hospitality. For anyone considering a visit to Kenmare, the Park Hotel offers something increasingly rare: genuine service, exceptional food, and unforgettable experiences delivered by people who clearly care about what they do. A sincere thank you to Allie, Zoe, and the entire team for a wonderful evening. We will certainly be back. 🍀🎻✨
Our initial room was very nice, but due to building works at the hotel, was extremely noisy. We were moved to another room, much quieter, but not as nice as the initial room. The hotel food was very nice, but quite expensive. The pool was terrific, as were the views from the hotel. The grounds are excellent, with lovely views.
We felt that the hotel decor had not been improved by the changes implemented since our previous visit, some 8 years ago. The updates, including wooden floors, modern paintings seemed to be part of a modernisation programme, so the hotel had lost some of the 'Old World' charm we loved.
Excellent stay at the Park hotel for the weekend. We genuinely couldn't compliment the staff, food or location enough. The hotel was spotless, regularly cleaned, rooms were very comfortable with stunning views. We had breakfast 2 mornings and Dinner in the Landline both evenings also, everything we had to eat was fresh and superbly cooked. Every member of staff was friendly, chatty and helpful, we couldn't have had a better stay. We would highly recommend.
Kenmare was our base for our visit to the Ring of Kerry and the Park Hotel was a wonderful hotel to experience this lovely area of Ireland. There are many areas of the hotel to enjoy especialy the gardens and walk along Kenmare Bay. We loved using the pool and sauna every night to relax with everything a person could need such as slippers, robes, swimsuit drying etc. Be sure to take the Art Tour to learn about the owner's extensive collection and the Forest Tour to learn about the lovely setting. We had a wonderful large room with sitting area that had one of the best views of the bay. The bathroom had been recently renovated which was very large with a nice soaking tub and separate shower. In-room snacks and drinks showed the hotel really wanted to make a guest's stay as pleasant as possible. We found the food at the hotel to be excellent. Upon our arrival we had a light lunch in the lounge area which I really recommend. Breakfast each morning was delicious with an extensive menu. After a long day of touring, we decided to order room service which was excellent and reasonably priced. I also recommend the nearby restaurant The Lime Tree Inn for an excellent dinner. It is walking distance through a short-cut in the parking lot. We found the service to be excellent and I wished I remembered everyone's name to thank them in this review (such as Jude and the red-hair gentleman at the bar). You could tell they took a lot of pride in their job and wanted to make our stay as pleasant as possible. One tip to pass along is if you have a Chase Reserve credit card to book using the Chase Edit program. It gave us a $250 discount, room upgrade including late check-out, breakfast and a $100 hotel credit (which we used for room service).
We didnt stay the the hotel however we were recommended the art tour at 5pm each evening lead by Jonathan. It was a really nice way to get to know the hotel and we had a few cocktails afterwards which were unreal! Jonathan was very knowledgable and enthusiastic, we really appreciated the time he took to show us around.
Worst experience ever! Beware of this hotel, I booked 9 months in advance and confirmed my stay. They kicked me out for a higher paying customer.
Service does not compare to what it was under the new ownership.
What a beautiful, quaint hotel! We stayed for 2 nights (my mom and I) and it was just darling. The service was very top-notch and Mark made sure we were welcomed warmly and had everything we needed. He's great! We had breakfast every morning on property and it was wonderful. Service was a bit slow at times but the food was made-to-order and delicious! Will definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area!
This is a difficult review for us to put together. On one hand, there was so much to like at Park Hotel Kenmare: The idyllic setting with its lush garden overlooking Kenmare Bay; richly detailed interior spaces; plenty of public spaces to relax, anytime of day, some with even a steady supply of tea and snacks. We loved the library with its selection of books and a collection of photographs by Gilles Caron on the walls. Our spacious room has a comfortable sitting area with a lovely view; Grown Alchemist bath amenities; pampering daily replenishes of in-room snacks, tea selection, Blue Bottle coffee, even fresh milk in the mini fridge, etc.. Dinner and breakfast were all superb: Fresh, delicious, so well-prepared, and so beautifully presented. The display of the owner's private art collection is a true gem. It introduces guests, up close, to a truly eclectic world of contemporary art. Moreover, in our opinion, the art did not detract from the traditional interiors but instead artfully added a refreshing brightness and visual focus. (Please do go on the in-house art tour: It was informative with just the right balance of details and breath.) All this seemed a world away but was in fact just a few steps around the corner from the colorful and picturesque town of Kenmare! So why not an unequivocal 5-star? The service was uneven. We believe the staff was well-intentioned, but there were enough service gaps to be noticeable. For a 5-star Relais & Chateaux property, the doorman was often not at the door. The staff was always gracious and polite, but housekeeping and turndown services were inexplicably early every day and evening during our 3-night stay (as early as at 9 or 9:30 in the morning or before dinner, respectively). Breakfast was scrumptious, when we were finally attended, when juice or water was offered, or when the fruit compote was actually served with the porridge that supposedly should have come with. We are not picky travelers, so we mention these gaps not to be petty. But when these minor lapses kept recurring over the 3-night stay, we had to ask "why" in what was otherwise a lovely experience. We had the opportunity to say " hello" to Bryan and Tara Meehan during our stay. Their very warm, kind and personable greetings suggested a genuine commitment to make Park Hotel Kenmare a welcoming corner where guests can luxuriate in the beauty and hospitality of Ireland.
We had a wonderful three-night midweek stay at luxurious Park Hotel in Kenmare in April 2026. After a very long journey due to the fuel protests, we were relieved to finally arrive in Kenmare. We chose to stay at the Park Hotel because we love Kenmare and have enjoyed many delicious meals at the hotel over the years. We had always wanted to stay at the hotel and our recent trip definitely exceeded our expectations. The Park Hotel really is a stunning hotel, perfectly located in the centre of Kenmare, yet it somehow retains a peaceful countryside feel, tucked away within expansive, mature grounds that are tranquil and beautiful. On arrival, our welcome was mighty! We were all exhausted after the journey down, but Jonathan, one of the hotel porters, greeted us very warmly, coming out to meet us in the car park. His gentle manner and sharp wit made an immediate good impression. He effortlessly guided and assisted us into the hotel, which was exactly what we needed after the long trip. We enjoyed chatting to Jonathan again during his Art Tour of the hotel. His knowledge and detail was impressive as was his love of the art in the hotel. Our check in was smooth and efficient. We were offered a welcome drink and shown to our room in no time. The hotel itself is light filled with stunning modern artwork throughout. It is a joy to simply walk through the space. Theaster Gates was a new discovery for us, and we greatly admired his work in the reception and lobby. We also loved discovering all the art in the building and enjoyed the hidden installation in the main reception area! We were fortunate to stay in a spacious, stylish and thoughtfully designed balcony room with superb views over the grounds and Kenmare Bay. It was so wonderful to wake up to the view of the gardens and across the bay. The room was perfectly clean (and we are fussy). The personal touches in the room were noteworthy and we all appreciated having the small snacks etc. I have some back issues and found the mattress a little too soft. However, after mentioning it to Grace, the fantastic manager at the Park, the issue was addressed immediately and without hesitation. She followed up with us during our stay, which we really appreciated and assisted with organising other aspects of our trip which made a big difference to our stay. The hotel itself is so central that we found it easy to go for walks around the town and truly appreciate the area. It was great not having to use the car! Breakfast each morning was delicious, with plenty of choice, served in a beautiful bright setting, surrounded by art. Afternoon tea was also very enjoyable—especially the cream cake on the Wednesday! There are lots of quiet corners to sit and just appreciate the art and relax. The staff were all attentive without being intrusive. We had dinner in the Landline, which was also good although a slightly wider menu selection would have been better for longer stays. The level of hospitality at the Park sets it apart from other hotels. Every member of staff greets you warmly and takes an interest in you. This creates such a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere in every part of the hotel. During our stay, we met the owners Bryan and Tara who took the time to say hello to everyone. We were very struck by the sense that the team there care deeply about their guests and take pride in delivering a high level of service. Everyone there is friendly, down-to-earth and attentive throughout our stay. There were so many wonderful staff at the Park, but in addition to Grace and Jonathan, we would like to mention Elena, Louise, and Lukas at breakfast and dinner; all the lovely reception staff, Joel, who looked after our room so well and Karina in the Spa. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I have actually just booked our return stay!
The hotel is situated an ideal area of town - just off the main drag with ample parking. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We were staying with two small children and unlike some places that claim to welcome children but then don’t seem too keen on them being there, Park Hotel went above and beyond for my kids. They asked their names and ages ahead of time in order to have custom cookies with their names waiting for them, as well as properly sized little robes for them. The family suite was ideal for our family and the kids loved the bunk beds. We ate both lunch and dinner in the garden room and had amazing meals.
The property is currently undergoing some extensive renovations (which is not meant as a fault, it’s a necessary part of the passage of time). The current walk to the pool area is not ideal as it’s extensive and outside avoiding the construction. We also had some loud workers close to our room earlier in the morning than we’d like. But again, I recognize that renovations are necessary and are temporary.
Top notch old school hospitality. This was our first time here and definitely met or exceeded expectations. We stayed two nights and availed of most of what's on offer. We ate in the first night and sampled the town the second night. Tried the pool, which was a great addition, if a bit of a walk away. The garden and nearby water park is a considerable plus too. Live music (piano player) is a lovely touch. Complementary afternoon tea is a bonus also. Thanks to all the staff.
A last minute stay due to work bringing me to the area. I was seeking a refined, peaceful and restful night and having previously had this hotel in my orbit from many previous trips guiding people on personal tours to Kerry, I took a room last minute. What I loved: * Service was 100% upon both check in & check out. What you would expect from a 5* at this price point. Personal orientation & projected care. * Loved the ART focus which added a surprising & soulful element that created another layer for me in visiting a building that already has much spirit encased in it’s walls since the late 1800’s! * I had dinner in the restaurant - it is elegant & very pricey, but the quality was top notch. Service in the restaurant was excellent and I was not dismissed for turning up in trainers ( I had not planned to be there :) ) * The bathroom products in the room amenities felt more natural than the usual highly scented chemical laden products in most hotels which I really appreciated * Thoughtful snacks & beverages in the room - LOVED the kettle & the coffee tea choices! * Bed, pillows & Quilt on point - perfect. What I was disappointed in for the $$$: * King room was very small and literally the bed was beside the door exposing you to everyones conversations as they pass through the corridor. The wallpaper showed lots of stains, as well as carpet. The bathroom looked like it was renovated but tiny with nowhere to place your wash items. Practically a little shelf is needed in small bathroom for personal wash items so that wash items are not placed on the floor. Bathroom was not 100% clean unfortunately (hairs from previous people in the shower trap & a dirty small towel on a hook in the shower) * Even though it was quiet in the hotel, I could hear my neighbours TV & voices plus slamming doors when trying to sleep. This is a consideration for those who are noise sensitive. * I was explicitly told at check in; and on the in-room literature that though building renovations were happening they do not make noise until 10.30a.m. I saw many trademens outside my window from 8am & drilling/hammering at 8.15am. * I did not feel that this stay was value for money given the season & renovations. The room was akin to a 4 star honestly (minus the beautiful artwork/feather quilts & pillows) - and then the added stress of not having privacy to open my curtains in the morning as the builders were right there. This pushed me out early to get away from the noise and intrusion honestly at 9am. I was unaware with regard to the extensive hotel renovations, nor ownership and ethos until I arrived. I was given an orientation and details on the art pieces the owners have placed around the hotel. I loved this, as I am a creative, though you may need to qualify your guests and ask if they are interested in that level of information before giving them the lay of the land with regards to the art pieces in situ. I sense that some guests may feel overwhelmed at having that level of detail when they are weary from travel and just need to rest. I expressed my concern about morning noise, adding that I really need a peaceful place to rest. The room given looked out at a crane (with a blaring light on all night that beamed into the room) and a building site, but I was told that this was the best place for me - that building work only began at 10.30am. Alas, a restless night - as is to be expected in an old building the walls and doors are not soundproof. Banging doors; neighbours TV and voices and subsequently drilling on the site at 8.15 am in the morning got me out of there early. I’m unsure if I will return tom stay. Perhaps when the renovations are complete, and in room with a more attractive aspect.
Thanks to the new owner Bryan who has created an atmosphere that you feel you are visiting the home of a thoughtful host rather than a paying guest. I know previous review mentions revamp noise and maybe we were lucky it's didn't impact our stay and we were there for one night to celebrate my birthday. I found it peaceful there and the staff friendly and welcoming. I did the Art tour of all the artwork in the hotel which was great and purchased the book that details the artwork so I can revisit now I'm home. Complimentary tea and cake at 4pm in the lounge.relaxing piano playing and access to record player to play some tunes. Will return and stay longer. Thanks to Leo Linda and Johnathan for your hospitality.
Stayed recently with other family members and had a most enjoyable time at the Park Hotel. We enjoyed lovely light lunch on arrival in lounge area and excellent dinner that night in main dining room. All the staff we encountered were friendly and most helpful. Excellent pool and sauna facility. Look forward to return visit and hopefully with better weather will get in a full round of golf at adjoining golf course. A big thank you to all the team!
If you want to stay in a building site this is your hotel……. Our room looked out unto a building site in which we were informed that the hotel was under some winter upgrade…. We went for an afternoon rest to the sound a jackhammer, wonderful, we were staying for three nights, such a mistake. We filled in the review which was left in our room & I gave to reception before check out. The manager who interacted with the couple who checked out before us quickly disappeared……… would I recommend this hotel - NO
I stayed here for five nights over Christmas with friends and family—and it was the perfect holiday setting. The views were stunning—rolling green hills and water wrapped by incredible trail options. Close (1min walking distance) yet so secluded you wouldn’t even know it was there if you were strolling by. Our room was warm—spacious—and beautifully designed—elegant but comfortable. The bed was incredibly cozy—and the festive décor throughout the hotel made everything feel magical without being overdone. AMAZING PILLOWS & OUTLET/CHARGING OPTIONS The food was Michelin star/Tasting Menu worthy, the options are accommodating to all. Breakfast each morning was fresh and generous—and Christmas dinner felt genuinely special. Evenings in the bar by the fire—with great cocktails and occasional live music—were a highlight. The staff was ridiculously accommodating and enthusiastic. perfectly attentive without hovering. may be the best service i’ve ever had across the board What really made the stay—though—was the service. The staff were warm—attentive—and thoughtful in a way that felt natural—not forced. By the end of the trip—I didn’t want to leave. I’d absolutely return. The Negative: Apparently there is a new owner (company) who owns it and has changed (could be in the process of making more changes) from classic decor and art to modern art & decor. This is in stark contrast to the ambience of the entire stay and feel and kind if sticks out like a sore thimb—very distracting and unappealing.
The breakfast is very good, the hotel is very nice, and it's located in the city center.
We had issues with balcony doors in two different rooms before being upgraded to a wonderful master suite. While the final room was perfect, the move process took over two hours of waiting in the second day. We would have appreciated better communication regarding the delay so we didn't waste our time. Overall, the suite made up for the trouble, but the logistics could be smoother
My husbands 60th Birthday wkend 3 bedrooms taken , ffom the moment we landed it was unreal the Welcome we where given ,From front door to even back /side door we could fault service , comfort, hotel bedroom clean up ... unreal We Will Be Back
Superb lunch at the Park hotel Kenmare , we received 5 star service from both Harvey and Jude, their professionalism and knowledge of the town was excellent and they are a true reflection of the hotels standard alongside Johnathon’s welcomes, they are an assets to the team. Looking forward to another excellent lunch here very soon!
Stayed for 2 nights and it was excellent from start to finish. Harvey was excellent as was all the staff. Nice to stay in a hotel that actually cares about thier customers. Hospitality is not dead yet in Ireland. Keep up the good work. Will be back.
From the time we arrived in the carpark to the time we checked out the attention to detail and personal touch was on a different level. It was as a fantastic experience to stay in the hotel. Our room was amazing, big, airy and spotless. All members of staff were extremely efficient and friendly. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights, the food and service were stunning. Breakfast every morning was very pleasant with a very extensive range of menu options. Would definitely recommend the Park Hotel and would hopefully return someday.
Place is fantastic.
Spa was excellent
Room was hot and noisy, fans outside the window going all night. Luckily we had ear plugs.Bathroom nice. Dinner ordinary and far too expensive for what we got. Very overpriced.
Beautiful hotel, rooms were very comfortable, love the radio in the room and loved the balcony.
the handle on one of our showers came off - seemed strange
Beautiful, luxury hotel in Kenmare. We would definitely come again. Staff were professional and pleasant throughout.
The bathroom was dated and pipes made noises
staff is fantastic and its like your staying at a private estate as special guests.
just need in room coffee maker
I had not been at The Park for a few years, and was interested to see how its design refresh and new ownership had changed it. All for the better. The design update is incremental and successful, and the new owners’ modern art collection, on display around the hotel, is very (surprisingly?) effective against the more old-world backdrop. Staff very friendly and welcoming as always, and the food has moved up a few notches - very good.
Immaculate Hotel in a pristine and beautiful setting. The rooms were spacious. The staff were fantastic and the restaurant on site was superb. Nothing but good things to say.
We were a group of ladies who visited the Park to celebrate our Christmas Dinner. We got such a warm welcome from Mark and Grace O’Connor , the General Manager, the minute we stepped inside the door. The ambiance is just gorgeous and was filled with twinkling Christmas lights. We had lovely sea view rooms with comfortable beds and wonderfully comfortable pillows. All in all a fabulous stay and a genuine welcome.
I had a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable stay. The staff were so welcoming and the owner was extremely friendly and warm. My room was unbelievable in terms of quality and view, the food, service and overall experience was fab!
I can only say excellent to all the headings above! Location, accommodation, cleanliness, friendliness and so on. From when we arrived for our two night stay to when we reluctantly checked out, we loved it. Will be recommending this Hotel highly. We met with the owners in the Dining Room who were very friendly and went out of their way to welcome us.
We stayed at the Kenmare Park hotel in Nov 2025. All I have to say is if you are looking for a couples retreat dont bother looking around. This place is picturesque, calming, relaxing, friendly and the food was perfect. No need to look any further...mic drop
We stayed for 2 nights as part of our friend's birthday celebrations. The team were extremely welcoming, the complimentary drink on arrival was a lovely touch. Our room overlooked the lakes, it was very spacious, warm and quiet. The bathroom was huge and had a bath which I love. The building is beautiful with period features and a wonderful art collection. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff were attentive and friendly. Dinner was delicious and the little bar was just gorgeous. Overall we had a great stay, the spa is undergoing renovation at the moment and I would definitely like to return when it is completed to try those facilities. I did however have a massage which was excellent, this was done in a room in the hotel while the spa work is completed. Overall the hotel is a lovely oasis, in a beautiful place with a team who try very hard to ensure your stay is enjoyable.
We arrived for our 10 year anniversary having stayed at the hotel a decade ago, and were pleasantly surprised to see it's been refurbished in a delightful way giving it contemporary city touches but honoring its time-stands-still traditional aesthetic. The team were all so friendly and genuinely kind. I was also on book tour for my novel about Hazel Lavery so the Park Hotel offered the perfect respite between book signings in nearby towns. We won't be waiting ten years to return. xo
My brother in law who is a brilliant photographer told us about an exhibition on At Art in the Park (Park hotel kenmare ) drove down on a wet night . Only to see this most magnificent building and we were met by a Fantastic host called Johnathan, who was most engaging and welcoming and gave us an indepth tour of the entire works on display. Every member of staff we engaged with were amazing and welcoming. I have to admire any entrepreneur that is willing to open this amazing venue to the public, and not keep it exclusively for the rich and privileged people of society. It was the Gilles Caron exhibition we went to view, however we were privileged to view Warhol and Scully, etc, pieces also. Beautiful experience and praise to opening the doors at last to the Kenmare Park Hotel, art is to be embraced by all members of society. Once again hugh praise to Johnathan for his insight and sharing of his art knowledge. Thank you. Fran and Cora Healy.
Everything! From the touch of bubbles and cake on arrival, to the beautiful bedroom suite with garden view m, to the exceptional staff who pulled out all of the stops to ensure I had the perfect wedding morning.
There was a smell from the taps which filled my room. Took running of the taps to get rid of it.
We absolutely LOVED this hotel. We were most likely one of many couples trying to decide whether to stay in Killarney or Kenmare. I read forum after forum and review after review trying to decide. Ultimately we decided on Kenmare and this beautiful property. After spending several days there we really were happy with this decision. We spent some time in Killarney and although it is stunningly beautiful, it was much more of a larger town with a very touristy feel. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with that because it was delightful, but Kenmare was much quieter and perfect for what we were looking for. We were elated with our choice from the moment we arrived. The location is ideal whether you are exploring the town which is a short stroll away or heading out to drive the ROK. Its such a perfectly lovely location. We had booked ourselves into a Bay Suite with Terrace. We loved everything about the room. The decor was a refined elegance. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was ideal and bath products were amazing. The room was very spacious. It had a nice terrace outside overlooking the lake which we used often. It was simply a very comfortable room that thoroughly enhanced our stay. Just like many luxury properties it’s really the staff that makes your experience go from great to exceptional. This was exactly the case here at this property. Everywhere you turned the staff members were there to help you and make sure your trip was delightful. It all starts with the doorman who were so gracious and friendly. I definitely have to call out another staff member in particular, the bartender Rob. Wow, did we have fun each evening with him. We had never met anyone that knew so much about Irish whiskey. He was such a lovely person and so much fun to chat with each evening. We loved how warm and friendly he was. It was really sad the last night saying goodbye. We dined at the Landline restaurant for breakfast each morning and dinner one evening. The food was terrific and the service provided was excellent. We loved how close the hotel was to the neighboring golf course. We simply walked out of our room and were at the clubhouse within 2 minutes. When in Kenmare it would be ashame not to try other restaurants as well. We would highly recommend dining at Mulcahy's and the Lime Tree Inn next door to the hotel. Both had amazing atmospheres and the food was fabulous! As stated above, we were so elated with our choice of hotel, especially for this region. The ROK is such an iconic Irish destination that you want to have a perfect hotel to accompany this adventure and the Park Hotel Kenmare was just that! If and when we do make it back to this region, we will without a doubt stay here again!
Spa is so disappointing. Were never even informed that there was a larger pool. Changing rooms were freezing the relaxation room was beyond Baltic no way anybody could relax in it. Swimsuits all destroyed from residue that came off in the outdoor hottubs. We did receive money back due to the bad experience but unfortunately just doesn’t make up for the let down experience for what was meant to be a very special occasion. Your money also goes a lot further in other spa’s for a nicer experience
Loved the setting, beautiful walks and very convenient to the town. The staff were so helpful and very well mannered.
I feel the decor is dull and needs a lift. The bath needs a handle to help olderr people to get out. It is very expensive.
Lovely warm welcome and the glass of chilled rosé was appreciated after a 5 hr drive. Spacious, beautifully decorated room with stunning view over the bay. Overall the hotel has a relaxed well cared for vibe, current upgrade to the spa facilities did not detract from our enjoyment at all and will be fabulous when completed. Tara the owner spoke to us at breakfast and even offered some tips for our drive that day- nice touch! Some fabulous art works on display. The food is also excellent but the top prize must go to all the staff for their genuine warmth and friendliness. Well done, you deserved the 2 Michelin keys awarded when we were there. Already looking forward to returning.
Great location, a short walk from the beautiful town of Kenmare with its excellent restaurants, bars, music and historic stone circle. Spacious, comfortable rooms with great breakfast and fine dining. Right on Kenmare Bay with lovely walks and views. We spent three nights and loved every minute. Ideally located for trips around the Ring of Beara or heading back to Killarney and it's great attractions. In particular the Park has excellent, friendly, knowledgeable staff and they give great attention to all the guests. The Park Kenmare employees fully deserve the 2025 Michelin award of 2 Keys. The hotel is currently updating it's Spa area and that will add an even better experience for future visits
This is an older hotel that doesn’t feel dated. It is in a great location and has a well trained staff who help to make this a great hotel to stay at. I enjoyed my stay and will certainly consider it in future.
The room was lovely, the lighting for putting on makeup was fabulous, the food was incredible, the staff were warm and friendly. We had a great welcome with a glass of rose on arrival. The spa however needs some attention. On the day we were there, the boiler was not working properly and the thermal pool was not warm. The bottles were empty in the shower area and the spa staff were somewhat brusque.
First off, I'm definitely a picky traveler and this hotel checked all my boxes!! The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The service was excellent. For instance, my husband rented a bike and it was pouring rain the night he was to pick it up and the concierge took him to the bike shop, waited for him while the bike got set-up for him and then took him back and they stored the bike for him! Our room was great! We got a deluxe supreme and it had a beautiful view with lots of space to lay out luggage. The bed was fresh and comfortable!! The bathroom had two sinks which we really appreciated and lots of places to set things and hang things. The shower was a little small but they made up for it with the tub size. And they did special things like they do homemade scones that are the best we had in Ireland and you can pretty much get a scone and tea anytime you ask. They also did a different cake each afternoon so you could relax in one of the sitting rooms and enjoy cake and tea. The breakfast everyday was excellent with lots of choices. The staff were really good about attending to any request we had. And the location couldn't get any better. You can leave the property and take a right or left and be right in the town of Kenmare which is super charming. We're definitely going to be back because of both The Park Hotel and the town of Kenmare.
Wonderful stay—charming location, beautiful nature walks, delicious breakfast, excellent service, plus a welcome rosé after a long journey.
Beautiful hotel with exceptional service. Warm and welcoming staff.
Harvey Was very welcoming and polite Know his cocktails And all about the area of Kenmare Couldn’t do enough for us what a pleasure to meet him good staff member 5***** to you can’t wait to come back and have a drinks and food
A dog barked the entire night we were there.
Everything
Unbelievable Excited to check out new owners bar menu. My husband and I were the only two eating in bar lounge tourists staying in hotel having coffee and choc cake ordered our food and are still in shock it was so bad we have never had such a bad meal and in a 5 star hotel so so disappointed. I must say the waiter Jude was excellent and he saw clearly how bad it was. I regret we did not return same. I could have cried going home to killarney and all the restaurants hotels we have so wonderful no chef in the kitchen for sure. They should have said menu off untill evening when chefs on duty money down the drain and day ruined. Triona Neilans
We stayed here two nights. GREAT hotel. Wonderful staff, lovely rooms, great ambience. Great bar with an extremely knowledgeable bar staff. Fabulous food. The best scones I have had anywhere in Ireland. The restaurant is really excellent also, for a great breakfast, but most especially for dinner. Free coffee, tea, and cake late afternoons in one of the lovely public spaces. Steps from great restaurants and shopping in town. We would definitely want to come back.
This is a stunning hotel in a great location. Their scones are tasty and they have a truly fabulous spa. Our room was okay--nothing special. Sadly, I can't give the hotel five stars because something about the service here is cold and affected. Not everyone, of course, but that impression was my biggest takeaway, which should never be the case at a hotel of this caliber.
I have to admit, I'm disappointed writing this as I knew this Hotel in a previous incarnation I went to meet Friends / business meeting that ended up lasting an hour and a half Now...here we go Windows were dirty when I say dirty, they had been washed but not properly cleaned afterwards left stains running down the window distracting from the beautiful view Tables were dirty and stained, floor was covered in crumbs previous guests. The entrance doors had gathered black dirt between the them the first thing that greets you The staff very pleasant as always but there uniforms were actually tread bear ! and dirty with stains which kept grabbing my attention along with there dirty shoes You could overlook it just about because their personalities were very good warm and friendly. This is not acceptable at this level. At this price point and level, I guess they're living off their past history for the moment. My opinion, what a mess they're more interested in artwork and waffle talk than they basic standards if I want to know about Art, I'll ask, I wandered into the restaurant to see dirty tables and half eaten food - all in all I was embarrassed at meeting people in there , grant you the coffee was very nice along with the selection of biscuits they could improve on the presentation, though So that's the end of my honest review of the Park Hotel Kenmare it wasn't very busy the day I was there, I fear the management are not up to the job of a five star hotel . I have no doubt I'll find myself in The Park Hotel again and I will verbally tell the manager or the owner my opinion on their low standards -
Outstanding. The staff was friendly and attentive. Rooms are spacious, clean and classy (with a large wonderful bathroom). Pool and spa was the greatest part. Quiet, very classy and a great sauna (even for us Finns!). Grounds were large and beautiful. Piano player and the fireplace on the lobby were a great touch. Location was great.
Incredible hotel and wonderful staff! Beautiful evening at their restaurant as well as the food was excellent. Only frustration is that our room did not have air conditioning. Only some rooms have AC but our door opened which allowed plenty of air flow from outside.
For property that was opened up in the 1800s, there are modern conveniences and amenities. Location is perfect, the staff is friendly and nice, and the spa is over the top. The building is very old, but everything else gets an A+ plus. there was a concert of instrumental musicians in the lobby on the night that I arrived, which was extraordinary.
Serenity Location Attention to guests In particular Mark and Mehar were friendly and sociable and added to the enjoyment of my stay. Thank you. Dinner was lovely
Nothing
We really wanted to love this place. But there are some issues. To begin, there seems to be a lack of staff at check in. We did get help with our luggage, but the person who helped us seemed like he was alone. Fine person but overworked. Granted, there was a Backroads bike group staying at the hotel that kind of took over the lobby, so that might have explained the chaos, but it sure seemed a bit disjointed. We were offered something to drink on arrival but nothing non-alcoholic. We had a late lunch in the parlor and that was lovely. Many times when we went to the front desk, it was unoccupied. The front office staff seems to retreat to an office that is out of sight. Our room was quite spacious, with a sitting area and then a bedroom. There was some sort of varnish-like smell in our room that was quite strong throughout our visit. We kept the windows open, but it was not pleasant. The restaurant needs more food options. What they offer is good but limited. A few basic dishes would have been welcome. The servers were very pleasant, although they too seemed overworked. The second night we were there, music emanating from below our room kept us up well after midnight. We were just above the dining room. Spoke to night manager who we had difficulty communicating with (and who had loud music on in the background as well). He said he would address it but it took more calls to get it handled. The music finally stopped, but then the sound of tables and chairs being slid around on the floor below us followed. More calls required to address. Not a luxury hotel experience. We complained the next day and the manager did not charge us for that night and also gave us breakfast on the house. Said that should put it behind us. There was a feeling of being gouged for diet cokes, and they were very cheap on the amount of Blue Bottle coffee that they provided. They should be passing it out to get people to try it, but they only provide 2 simgle serve packs per day for the room. My first time trying it, and liked it very much. Kudos to the owner for helping bring it to market. Stingy, though. On the whole, the prices are 5 star (v expensive) but there is a mismatch in value. We did have some lovely weather to drive to the Beara Penninsula, and Garinish island, so the hotel is well located for that.
This was my third visit to The Park Hotel and my first since the change in ownership. First off, I missed the green canopy over the entrance. It added charm and elegance to the building, and was functional as well, offering some protection from the frequent Irish rain. To me the front of the building now looks drab. On our last trip (2023), our family had their photo taken in front of the canopy as a memento of our stay. As another reviewer stated, I did not care for the modern paintings that have replaced paintings that went with the style and age of the building. We did like our room and the staff were attentive as usual. The scones and lattes are still delicious! The dinner offerings did not seem as good as I remembered. The delicious strawberry soufflé I remember from 2016 has been replaced with a minuscule apple soufflé that was unremarkable. There did seem to be a lot of mixups in the dining room. One morning we were served duplicates of everything. When I asked for a glass of almond milk, I got a latte. At dinner, my husband asked for a coffee offering on the menu and got something different. When he stated that was not what he ordered, it was discovered that what he ordered is no longer an offering, but was still on the menu. Last of all, I missed the stuffed sheep on the bed! They were so cute and fit a stay in Ireland with the ever-present sheep. On one stay, the housekeeper would place mine in different poses every day and left it holding the survey on the last day. This was a special place for my family. My parents had visited in the 1990s and my father wrote in a memory book for our daughter that it was a "very grand place, but yet very homey." Now 3 generations of our family have visited. I am sad that it has lost its homey touch. Francis and John Brennan had a flair for running this hotel that sadly seems to be lacking at present. We are glad our daughter was with us in 2023 to see it the way my father remembered it. Upon leaving this trip, my husband and I agreed that we have no desire to return.
1. Breakfast was excellent 2. Spa treatments super 3. Gym very poor...some machines not working 4. Room was excellent, great space and nice to have separate sitting room albeit the couch wasn't great 5. Overall superb with amazing staff
Gym poor
The hotel is beautiful, my room was very spacious and comfortable. The gardens were also well maintained and cared for.
My staff was good, the hotel certainly is beautiful. However, I had order a room with a balcony and given one that did not. Though at check-out I was told the room assigned was an upgrade, I was disappointed with this occurrence without informing me at check-in.
Outstanding spacious property sprawling well maintained grounds ok restaurant disappointment with the infinity pool availability and miscommunication about working hours
We haven't been in the park in 11 yrs which we stayed in a couple of times. I was disappointed in the refurb. But that's personal taste. We called in for there blue bottle coffee best in Europe. Sadly it was average and it was Luke warm. The waiter brought the scones which where nice. I had to ask for side plates and knives to butter them. We weren't even given napkins for the younger ones. So 5 star service this was not and I had being longing to get back for an adults spa weekend after the many wonderful stays there before kids but after this its lost its appeal sadly.

Nothing really
The Park Hotel Kenmare is a gorgeous, relaxing hotel in the most exquisite setting. Charming doesn't begin to describe it. The location can't be matched being right at the end of the town's main street. You literally are steps away from everything the town has to offer. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean with a view of the bay. We had a tub and separate walk in shower with lots of hot water. The spa is quite beautiful and tranquil and wonderful after hiking Kerry Way. Highly recommend the spa relaxation room and their swimming pool too. All the hotel staff were very friendly and a special shout out to Mark, Sulamiet, Allie at the front desk and Joanna in the spa who made us feel very welcome. The Park Hotel is like stepping back in time to a more relaxing and serene pace of life. We definitely hope to return in the future as we definitely fell in love with Kenmare and the Park Hotel.
We enjoyed a lovely one-night stay at the Park Kenmare. The hotel is well-appointed and the property is gorgeous. You will have access to trails that bring you through gardens and down to the water. It's really very pretty. The grounds are meticulously maintained with beautiful flowers and plants. Whoever is in charge of landscaping deserves a hat tip. It's a really pretty place to spend some time. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and bright. We enjoyed the sitting area outside - they may want to consider umbrellas for rain or sun. The room temperature was perfect for us, a welcome change as it was unseasonably warm and Irish hotels tend to run hot. The spa is fantastic and worthy of another trip. The thermal suites and amenities, especially the edge pool outside, are high-end and ultra luxe. The staff are helpful and friendly; my massage treatment was excellent. I hope to return someday relatively soon for a whole spa weekend with multiple services. It's a destination worth considering for Samas alone, but Kenmare town makes it even better. The hotel is a quick walk to town. Kenmare is small, but worth exploring. We enjoyed live music at Crowley's. We did have cocktails at the bar. My spouse said it was the best Negroni on this trip. I enjoyed a martini. The piano in the sitting room was a nice touch. The service was friendly. This was a big hiking trip for us, so we arrived disheveled with only backpacks. They didn't bat an eye! They also pointed us in the right direction for our hike back to Killarney on the Old Kenmare Road. If we had to give any constructive feedback, it would be that the service staff at breakfast fell short. They need to let you know if things need to be ordered a certain way. For example, we ordered yogurt and fruit (this is exactly how it's described on the menu), but we only got a bowl of yogurt. The waiter never checked up on it and we didn't want to hunt him down. I ended up putting the jam on the table in my yogurt. Other tables had toast and bread (presumably why there was jam on the table), but we did not receive any and we were not asked if we wanted any. Did we need to order that special? We don't know because it was never explained to us. It felt like there was a secret breakfast menu ordering technique that we failed to realize. Overall, a lovely stay with compelling reasons to return. We regret we could not stay longer and hope to visit again.
In the center of Kenmare the staff was very helpful and helpful
Wonderful service, amazing food and a very pretty hotel, grounds. Kenmare is a cute village with some good shopping.
I honestly feel like I have glimpsed heaven. A beautiful and charming hotel, full of old fashioned charm and friendliness, with views of gardens, mountains and a lake, you could only dream of. The breakfast and dinner were perfect. I hope it never changes
We visited last Saturday with very high expectations as we have previously dined in the hotel whilst with the previous owners. I don’t know what to say except that everything remained the same ie, the scenery and the beauty of the hotel however the quality of the lunch we received and the manner in which our constructive criticism was handled would lead me to think that this hotel is not as it was.. We were only having lunch but were about to book a few days in the hotel as were staying nearby and when we received our food it was only barely warm but our chips were stone cold. By the time we could catch a member of staff to advise of our issue it was too late. We had eaten what we could but no point in giving fresh chips when it was too late. The member of staff that we raised the issue with apologised and said “they would note our issues” and decided not to charge us for one drink??????? Not satisfied with this attitude my husband spoke to a manager who advised he was a brother of the person who owned the hotel, he asked my husband where we were from and was told “Carlow” and said the next time you are “passing by” contact me ( he gave his telephone number). Honestly when do you, if you live in Carlow pass by Kenmare?. For a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices this was not the attitude that we expected. Truly not good enough for a hotel with the esteem of the “Park Hotel Kenmare”. Poor food, dreadful attitude and ridiculous reaction from management. So let down.
