Reviewed Sep 16, 2026Really lovely location in Nagano, very close to sightseeing at the temple. Room was a nice size and comfortable, had a private toilet. Shared bathroom for showering was clean and quiet. Staff was really helpful.
Room smelled a bit like tobacco smoke but the building is old so that's understandable.

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026Die Lage ist super, schnell mit dem Bus zu erreichen und das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich hatte mit Gemeinschaftsbad gebucht und keine Toilette auf dem Zimmer erwartet, aber es gibt eine eigene Toilette und nur das Onsen ist sozusagen ein Gemeinschaftsbad, das hat mich sehr angenehm überrascht. Es war alles da, was man benötigt und das Essen war fantastisch. Absolut ein Erlebnis wert.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026El ryokan està ben situat, a uns pocs metres del temple. A la nit la zona és molt tranquil·la. Hi ha diverses línies de bus a prop. L'esmorzar té tres franges horàries, 7 - 7.30 - 8h. És molt bo i variat, i el personal que el serveix és extremadament atent i eficient. L'habitació és còmode i disposa de dutxa i bany privat. Té televisió, nevera i bullidor d'aigua. També cada dia portaven te i pastetes.
L'últim dia, mentre estàvem esmorzant i abans del check-out, van retirar els futons. Aquesta gestió s'hauria de fer un cop s'abandoni definitivament l'habitació, i no abans de l'hora de marxar, ja que nosaltres volíem descansar una estona més i no va ser possible. El preu potser és una mica elevat.

Reviewed Aug 16, 2026Conveniently located close to the Zenkoji temple. Staff speaks English really well. Half-board is great value for money, the food is of exceptional quality and comes in copious amounts. Overall attention for detail and service is high.
The only little thing is that dinner and breakfast time are a bit rigid, with dinner being too early to my personal liking (1800-1830 start).

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026ריוקן מקסים ומטופח. 2 דקות הליכה מהמקדש הגדול והמהמם. מאוד נקי. כל יום כשחזרנו, חיכה לנו בחדר תרמוס חם עם תה מאצה וקינוח מתוק. ברחוב יש הרבה חנויות מתוקים ומזכרות. בשבת היה עמוס מבקרים והכל היה פתוח. האונסן קטן אבל הכי שווה. היה ברז עם מים קרים לשליטה בטמפרטורת המים הרותחים. מציעה למי שמתכנן לסייר ברחבי המקדש לעומק, להזמין סיור באנגלית כמה ימים לפני ההגעה. לא היינו כי לא הזמנו מראש וחבל.
ההגעה למקום מתחנת רכבת מאתגרת ברגל. 30 דק הליכה בעלייה ועוד עם מזוודות.. עדיף מונית או אוטובוס שמגיע קרוב. בחזור הלכנו ברגל. הכל בירידה והיה ממש בסדר.

You can enjoy onsen bath inside the Ryokan and try a real Japanese breakfast. Owners are really nice and welcoming.

外出時は鍵をフロントに預けるのですが、鍵はフロントの台に置きっぱなしになっていたのでセキュリティはあまり厳重ではないのかと思います。

It provides a typical Japanese bedroom with a private bathroom and superb public bath experience on the ground floor. Tasty breakfast and great service from staff. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer.
We liked everything. It was all good.

The on-site onsen was a great way to cap off the day. Meals can be purchased on site, we didn't try any. We did use the laundry service and they did a great job. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We would stay here again.
The bathroom was a little tight.

Tatami room was spacious and well-organized (they clear everything during the day). Communal onsen small but immaculate; we didn't need the private bath. Location on Zenkoji Nakamise Street is unbeatable—direct temple access, early morning prayers, perfect atmosphere. Staff genuinely warm and helpful. Excellent value for what you get.
Nothing significant. Rooms are small by some standards, but we found ours surprisingly generous and thoughtfully laid out.

The room was spotless, the futons were exceptionally comfortable, and the staff were incredibly kind. They went above and beyond to help us when our baby had a medical issue, and we were so grateful for their care. We highly recommend it!

Reviewed Jun 18, 2026まずはスタッフさん達。丁寧な言葉遣いと、必要以上の関わりなくちょうど良いおもてなし。 食事は品数多く、豪華ではありませんが食べがいがありました。 和室ベッドの部屋はリフォームされてたいへん綺麗で居心地がよく、高齢の母と二人、この部屋で良かったねと大満足。使いませんでしたが冷蔵庫もありました。洗面所もトイレも、使いやすい場所で花まるです。手元の鏡があれば、化粧用に使えて100点満点だったなと思います。 そしてどの方も仰る、この旅館の場所が最高すぎました。旅館から出ると真正面に世尊院釈迦堂が。善光寺までの近さ。ありがたすぎて、この機会にと何度も行き来してしまいました。 旅館で購入できる栗ようかんもたいへん美味しかったです。おみやげ物にさせていただきました。 母とも、ぜひまた来るときはお世話になりたいねと話しておりました。
これは前もって理解した上で宿泊したため、｢良くない｣とは言えませんが、階段が急なことです。２階が部屋なので、足の悪い母は手すりを使ってゆっくり登り降りしました。食事、お風呂のために1階へ降りる必要があります。仕方ないです。 それから、うちはあまり気になりませんでしたが、部屋のすぐ下が厨房のようで、夕食後の片付けなどでガシャガシャお皿の音やスタッフさんの声が聞こえてきました。ゲストハウスなどに慣れているので、そんなもんかなーと思っていましたが、朝食のときに近くのご高齢のお客さんが｢ガチャガチャうるさかったー｣などと言っている声が聞こえてきました。 ホテルじゃないんだから。それよりも得るものが多いと感じた旅館です。

The room design and amenities were thoughtful and intentional; I especially liked the tea tray that was refreshed each morning. Reviewed Jun 6, 2026We really loved the location and the authenticity of the Ryokan. The site breathes history and respect for it's origin. We also were pleasantly surprised by the luxurious breakfast and the kindness of the staff members. Our room (4 person capacity, 2 persons staying) was large enough to be comfortable. The airco also worked really well.
We think it would have been nicer if the fridge and airco have been turned on before our arrival. We had communicated when our expected arrival time would be, but because the air-conditioning was turned off, the room temperature was initially really uncomfortably hot and the fridge took quite some time to get on temp as well. The mattresses were traditional futon mattresses. A bit hard for our taste, but this is an personal preference. The bathroom was really small and there wasn't a lot of space for comfort, but it was a complete bathroom and everything was working properly. We did not use the onsen, because it was a public onsen and I am not comfortable bathing with strangers. Also because I have a medical issue wich requires help from my companion in case of emergency/spasms. During the night I took the duvet out the traditional bedsheet because I was really warm. That's when I found out the duvet could really use some thorough cleaning: there were a lot of brown sweat stains and significant big/old blood stains on the duvet. This was a real turn down for me and a huge point of improvement.

Reviewed May 26, 2026食事が美味しかった。善光寺の参道に泊まれるのは魅力ですよね。建物は歴史があっていい雰囲気。でも部屋はキレイにリニューアルされてて、とても快適でした。
古い建物のせいなのか、階段が急です。食堂、浴室と階段移動が多いです。80の母を連れて行きました。まだ母は足腰が丈夫なほうですが、それでも少ししんどかったと思います。

Reviewed May 20, 2026A lovely ryokan right near Zenkoji Temple. You can take a bus up from Nagano station and then walk a few minutes to the ryokan. The room was traditional with space for two beds and a small table. Tea and snacks were provided in the room. We had a private bathroom and shower. The onsen is lovely with space for 3-4 people it was not busy at all while we were there. We would definitely stay here again.
