The room we were given was an assisted room, this wasn't requested and I would've preferred a standard room.

My bedroom was very comfortable providing for all my needs with my stay being nice and relaxing. Would definately stay again and recommend The Huntsman for anybody wanting accomodation in the area.
To be honest there was nothing I didnt like.

Reviewed May 10, 2026Easy to find - a great location on the down slopes of the Pennine Hills. A traditional public house extensively & tastefully modernised - clean & warm. The reception received was very welcoming & all the staff were extremely helpful. A particular mention to Charlotte who served me at breakfast - she could not have been nicer. Deputy Manager also very nice. Large room with a very comfortable bed, a good television & air-conditioning. Soundproofing is excellent. Very nice teas & biscuits. Great view over the Pennines. Bathroom good with nice products. Very wide choice for breakfast - generous & well cooked. Excellent secure parking. Holmfirth a short taxi ride away - the hotel arranged that for me. Good value.
One disappointment was to arrive back at 22:00hrs to find the bar closed.

Reviewed Mar 9, 2026Nicely furnished rooms, with a en suite, great over the bath shower, nice towels, toiletries and tea making facilities. Not forgetting the iron and ironing board and a great comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of it, served by a lovely friendly waitress, who gave us a nice table by the window. We were attending a baby shower here, on a busy Sunday afternoon. All the staff we came into contact with were so friendly and accommodating, allowed us to bring a cake and celebrate without being rushed. We all ate, having pre ordered food and none of us were disappointed. Great food and service. Highly recommend the Huntsman for good pricing and modern up to date accommodation and restaurant. It’s a drive out of Holmfirth but worth it.

When I asked for a warm drink at night I was told I couldn’t have one from the bar as they had already turned the machine off - it was before 9pm and really cold out. There were plenty of facilities in the room which was great but slightly disappointed I couldn’t get one in the bar.
