Ballymascanlon Hotel and Golf Resort

The rooms, the view and the food was amazing.

The bedroom was quite dusty around the bed frame and ceiling and the staff on the first night for dinner were not the best at managing a large group of people.

Lovely grounds, fab meal, beautiful house pino Grigio, nice pool and staff, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others

The food was excellent.

The room was lovely and all of the staff I met were very pleasant(except see below). The Breakfast could have been a bit hotter but I understand that is difficult. Food in the bar in the was excellent.

The only member of staff I encountered who wasn't pleasant and in fact was very abrupt was in the leisure club. I wanted to go for a swim, there were no instructions where to go and how to get in changing tooms. The member of staff I asked was not nice and as a woman travelling on my own I found this off putting.

I liked the size of the room, the quality of the towels/toilet paper. It was fantastic to have the option of a bath or shower. The toiletries were lovely also.

Our television didn't work. We reported it to reception yesterday and again when we were checking out today. I didn't like the fact that there was a charge for some of the cooked items even though we had paid for breakfast anyway. Also, there seemed to be a lack of waitresses to clear the used crockery to make way for the hot food plates

Very clean, good food, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere

Car park is always full and spaces are narrow (minimum spec I would imagine). Golf course seems to be constantly busy so parking can be difficult. Food (although very good)choices are limited and for a four night stay, you would need to dine elsewhere on a couple of nights.

Great leisure facilities, pleasant room.

We had noise from a wedding below from 10.30pm until 1.30am. We had drunk wedding guests trying to enter our room at 2.30am and we had the crashing of bottles as they were collected in trolleys near our room from 6.30am. We contacted the manager but received no reply from them with regards to our very disappointing stay.

The room was roasting from a scorching hot day. The fan was useless but it's a rarity to be that warm in Ireland.

Arrived at 10:15 for breakfast which was open to 10:30 no food left no sausage not even bread very disappointing then staff pulled curtains across so if you did want what was left you weren’t getting it honestly ruined the stay

Easily accessible from M1 but in quiet, rural setting, surrounded by acres of beautiful golf course with immaculately attended gardens. Quiet, welcoming ambience with tasteful decor and pleasant reception staff. Room in quiet setting, as requested- clean, comfortable and well equipped, overlooking garden. Very comfortable bed and excellent power shower. Early breakfast is to be recommended - cooked buffet, particularly as food is fresh from the kitchen and of excellent quality. The only downside is dining staff, who are very pleasant and helpful when you engage with them, need to get pots of tea / coffee to the tables promptly. That’s down to leadership - easily solved by a good dining room manager.

Poor management leadership in dining room. I had to find a waiter to ask for a pot of tea- which took a long time to come. I had breakfast at 7:45am- a quiet time on the dining room. Staff seemed to be hanging round but very personable once I caught their attention !

No hot water in room Poor service in bar - waited 10 minutes for drinks, we were watching the football and tv timed out, I had to ask a number of times to put the tv back on. Poor service is restaurant - wrong meals given to us and the restaurant was cold. Room was above reception, and it was loud, I was woken a few times during the night.

Pool was great for our range of family from grandparents to children, breakfast great time for everyone to meet.

Checkin was poor as only one of three rooms ready, triple room was very dated.Two double rooms were beautiful.

Nice hotel. Staff were nice. Good facilities and environment.

Breakfast was really disappointing and disorganised and there was no hot food for at least 30mins after it opened. Lot of new staff by the looks of it who didnt know what they were doing. Nobody really seemed to be in control or managing it. Lot of work needed here to improve the standard. Also no Oat Milk as an option isn't good enough this day and age.

The most amazing Hotel I've ever stayed in we've stayed in many many different parts of the world

If I would have one little gripe it was that the rooms are very warm obviously being quite old in many parts it doesn't have air-conditioning in the room.

Everything was great, a very pleasant stay.

The lady who checked us in wasn't very helpful or friendly. The only part of our brief stay that I couldn't compliment. However, other staff members were much more helpful and pleasant, which made all the difference.

Our evening meal was very enjoyable. Brianna was an exceptional waitress and paid attention to every detail with such charm.

Easy to get to, beautiful location and the staff were fantastic- the restaurant has just closed but they still got us some food and made a cocktail that was so good when I asked them to surprise me- we named it the Beth Dutton

I have stayed several times now and the rooms are just too warm- fans or air con needed as the rooms are big but exceptionally warm each time

The location and surroundings were lovely. Staff in the terrace bar and swimming pool were helpful and friendly.

Staying as a family of four, generally got the impression throughout the stay that this property is not particularly family friendly. Food in the restaurant was nice but room service later for dinner was only just ok and quite expensive. The bathroom in our hotel room had some black mould and cobwebs, and the swimming pool area also had evidence of mould and peeling paint on the walls. Reception staff could have been more informative and friendly on arrival and departure.

Food in the bar was very poor, the service and the quality. We had small children with us so we didn't go to the main restaurant. Maybe that was better?

Beautiful hotel and gardens. Interior of property was exceptional, so spacious, decor beautiful! Food was excellent, breakfast was amazing. Service amazing. Staff so friendly and helpful. First time staying, will most definitely be back again and would highly recommend!

The hotel was lovely room clean, loved that we had a balcony we sat out enjoyed the evening.

Staff in bar not to friendly,, service was slow. It was 7pm when we went in for dinner and there were no chicken wings left 😪...

Ballymascalon was an excellent selection for our family break, beautiful surroundings, facilitates and delicious food, but above all, each and every member of staff was a credit to their team and the hotel in terms of professionalism, care and friendliness, from the waiting staff in the restaurants, to the leisure centre and golf reception, they were second to none. Thank you all!

Lovely setting, great gardens and facilities

Friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean, breakfast was excellent and leisure facilities were good.

I thought the bar food was a little over priced at almost €30 for a burger with some chips. Food was good though. Another issue was that on both mornings of our stay there were wheelie bins (both large commercial and smaller bins) being pulled up and down outside constantly from 7am for more than 20 minutes and with the windows open due to the hot weather it was very loud and woke us very early.
