Staff are great. Nice little bar. Could be doing with a bit of a freshen up tbh, but beyond that it’s great for what you pay.
Clean room, helpful staff.
expensive for a badly upkept hotel. Shower detached from wall, paper stuffed into bathroom fan I assume to plug a hole? mouldy grout/sealant round shower/bath. positives- comfortable bed
We stayed here to do some walking on the WHW. Our room was very spacious and clean, it was cleaned every day and coffee and milk etc was replenished each day. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The bar area was a little outdated but still fine for a drink after a long days walking. What really stood out was the lovely staff, they were all so friendly and happy to help. We would definitely stay here again.
Large hotel used by ealkers and bus trips, a bit tired by reasonable value and do a breakfast starting at 7am which allows for an early start..
After a day of traversing the scottish highlands, I was more then ready to plop into bed for a good nights sleep. Well that did not happen, the room was hot, no fan and couldn't get the bathroom fan to work, had to get tge front desk clerk to show me a hidden switch that was close to rhe ceiling and behind tge bathroom door. This switch turned the fan on. So now it was time to uoack and i started noticing spiderwebs on all the wall ligh fixtures, that was fine as they woukd catch the little moths that were flying around the room. Now back to rhe bed, I ploped my 236 pound body on the mattress expecting a cloud of comfort, instead I felt my spine slam into my head. The mattress was sitting ontop of a board, not a boxspring, but a board hidden like a box spring. The next morning the room servuce crew were doing their thing, but what I noticed most was them smell of bidy odor permeating the entire hallway, it was the cleaning crew. The restaurant was decent and the food was limited, a bowl of ice-cream was actually ice-cream that melted and frozen again producing ice inside instead of cream. However, eeryone working there were very nice and professional, to bad the place isn't.
Very friendly staff, good sized rooms with comfortable beds. Lovely views from the top floor restaurant. Evening meal was good and good choices for breakfast. Easy to walk to the village too. The hotel is large and caters for big groups but we were lucky that it was quite a quiet night when we stayed. Wouldn't stop us booking another time.
One of the electric bulb did not work.
Conveniently close to the West Highland Way if you want a proper hotel with en-suite bathroom for a night! This is why we booked and we found it very convenient. There is free on site parking. The hotel is very close to all the restaurants and amenities of Tyndrum close enough to walk. The hotel is very pleasant, clean, good service. The room was booked as a double but is two single beds pushed together.
Dirty laundry lying in the corridor at 6pm Curry was very watery and tasteless Generally felt run down
Bedroom was comfortable with good beds. Quite a lot of space. Tv a little too small especially when viewed from the beds. The main faults were several things in the bathroom with the major problem being dangerously hot water which nearly caused scalding.
The staff were attentive but…. The hand soap was empty when we checked in. The door lock was damaged. We were asked to wait until after 8 for breakfast as a tour was also in the hotel. Overall, the condition of the furnishings was poor. The shower did not work properly. The clerk allowed me to use his phone, which was very nice. He asked me to leave a kind review. This was kind.
Staff at the hotel were very good - two young women were outstanding, the receptionist and the young woman managing the restaurant. Their capacity for work was impressive. Had a good meal at the restaurant and had a gluten allergy catered for.
This hotel is a bit drab but the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was not that great (although coffee was good). Sliced bread, canned fruit, average sliced cheese and salami, etc. Staff did not clean tables between parties, so we had to sit at a messy table. We were not allowed to take a cut of coffee to our room. Bartender and front desk staff were very friendly.
Hair all over bed and in bathroom in the shower on the wall and round the toilet. Bed was super uncomfy, the “bottled” still water was tap water. Under average for quality, cannot complain about the price it shows in the facilities and condition.
Fabulous dining room and supper menu
Very dated but it was part of its charm and originality. Close walk to the restaurants and great view.
The cleaning staff where lovely
Convenient stay for the West Highland way. Excellent breakfast and food. Very helpful staff.
comfortable, modern decor, friendly and helpful staff, lovely grounds. Breakfast was good.
Very friendly and obliging staff
Very comfortable hotel with great food & superb service staff.
All the staff were courteous, friendly, immaculately turned out, and quickly resolved any issues we encountered. Nina, our server in the restaurant was particularly attentative. The hotel represents great value for money, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a place to stay in Tyndrum.
It was convenient.
Room clean and comfortable , staff all very friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant.
It was good
The hotel served our needs well as trekkers well, with an early breakfast, good location for car journey to mountains. The property is a bit run down and needs a lot of investment. Fan in our bathroom did not work nor did the towel rail (or perhaps it was just us not being able to dind the right buttons). Staff were very good, and the owners should count themselves lucky that they have such charming people.
Close to town and safe.
It is an average hotel
Room was ok, a bit dated. Bathroom was small but at least it had a bath. Check in was extremely slow. Breakfast was below average. Wouldn't stay here again
Large hotel, grounds need some maintenance but a good breakfast and friendly staff
Much better value than most of the hotels I had stayed in over the previous 10 days.
The hotel looked very nice ans clean as well as the rooms. However the room we were given was right below the bar and restaurant. Which meant the constant banging and moving of funiture and general loud noise. It went on until 1am and re started again at 5am. We were situated on 2nd floor. Its a nice hotel and room but we really did not sleep all night due to the constant banging noise.
The shower was great, but it got the entire bathroom floor wet.
Lovely spacious rooms. Very clean. Staff were lovely. An all round decent stay.
Nice location. Can’t argue for price.
Long time since the hotel has seen any restoration. Hasn't been brought up to date in a long time.
Beware that coach tours get priority for dinner, so you might have to eat late
Nice atmosphere. Staff friendly. Problems: mattresses very hard. Tub hot water gets stuck on because the heat makes the fixture expand. Learned to cool it with cold water from the sink to be able to turn it off.
No heating in room and shower was not good. Room was clean. Breakfast very poor
Alot better than last time I stayed allot had improved staff are amazing very attentive take good care of there guests buffet needs to offer bit more choice than just fish or chicken but was still lovely bedroom nicely decorated bar man was fantastic overall stay was amazing glad I have it second shot will defo stay here again
Ok here we go! 1. Room was smelt of damp and mould ! 2. Room and toilet area was first with red bacteria from water taps and hairs in bath sink and bed! 3. The shower gels and soaps were dirty with used dried shampoo and shower gel on them! 4. The noise room doors are not noise proof and you can hear every movement in the corridor outside ! 5. The restaurant is a total and utter disgrace, cold bacon, cold beans, cold sausages and cold black pudding ! 6. The staff look dirty and the uniforms are not presentable or acceptable ! 7. NO FIRE EMERGENCY PLAN IN ROOM ALARMING!! Absolute embarrassment I will never ever stay at a MGM hotel again especially this dump!
Breakfast was substancial but not hot.
Very helpful staff throughout the hotel. Good choice at breakfast, upgrade on room which was nice, but bin hadn't been emptied, no big deal
Was surprised to find such a great choice of games...Pool. ping pong darts ice hockey...at the bar area...great for spending an evening byb the bar!
This is our sixth time at this Hotel and we love it all Staff are very polite friendly and helpful we stayed in a Deluxe Room and it was clean modern and had everything that we needed in it food excellent and a great variety places to visit Falloch Falls Rannoch Moor Glencoe
We loved the staff and all the little extras. While the property is a dated in some ways, their amenities and efforts to obvious updates make up for it. The staff are ALL exceptional. The man that ran the dining room and the young woman who checked us in were outstanding!!!
Excellent service, hotel was OK, room was nice but had a wee bed.
Thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The decor is dated but we loved the unique other worldly charm. Please don’t change! The staff were lovely, the bed was comfy and bathroom was very clean with an amazing shower. I’d definitely stay again
The hotel could use some renovations but it was clean and comfortable, and within walking distance to restaurants and stores. We enjoyed our stay.
We love going to this Hotel the Staff are so polite friendly and helpful and they go above and beyond for you our room was excellent and had everything that we needed in it it was an Executive Room and it was big and had great views of the Gardens at the front of the Hotel the food was excellent as always and a great variety compliments to the Chef the Hotel is in a great location for visiting Rannoch Moor Glencoe Glenfinnan and FortWilliam
The room had damp on the ceiling can't add pictures
Property setting very neat and tidy. Kitchen and waiters excellent. While we were there , there were two coaches of people all eating breakfast at the same time. The staff worked fast to replenish anything that was missing. Buiiding was a little dated (1980s), but on the whole we were satisfied.
My room was noisy when moving the chairs in the restaurant at night I think or whatever part of the dining room was above me. Also delivery truck noisy early in morning. Nice room but wouldn’t give to someone who asks for a quiet stay.
Close to all the activity. Meal and board option was great
1940s hotel vibe. A little outdated in areas but comfortable stay overall for the price.
This property needs help. Everything was old and to some extent needed service (eg. buttons falling off the elevator, toilet leaking water). The room was musty. Much of the plumbing needed work in our room.
We weren’t there for long as we just stayed the night to do Ben Nevis but the hotel was lovely. Wish we would have stayed longer.
The curtains were old and falling apart. I had to use the blanket at end of bed to use.
Nice having a buffet for supper and breakfast. Not much else in the area so we didn’t have to worry about food. It was clean and staff were friendly. Not fancy or modern but we’d stay there again.
We really enjoyed thge stay
4 of us had an amazing 6 days and ate every night at the hotel. The food was excellent and the service and friendliness of all the staff was exceptional. It was as if we were staying with family. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable we will be back. Thank you
Our Room was lovely it had everything that we needed in it all Staff were very friendly polite and helpful compliments to the Chef the Food is excellent and a great choice this Hotel is a great base for Glencoe Glenfinan and Fort William this is our fourth time at this Hotel and we will be back again Elaine and David from Erskine Renfrewshire
Bed had been slept in so we had to go complain. Eventually given another room
Our stay met our needs. The room was comfortable and spacious.
A pleasant surprise. We had a comfortable renovated room, the pizza was excellent and the huge huge lounge with free ping pong and pool and other games was an unexpected treat. One comment for ownership and management - your staff is remarkably good - please reward them adequately for their hard work. Without them you would not have such a nice hotel.
Rooms are fine, food and bar are good, and staff are good.
Great
Hotel is located in a great place to explore Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Ben Nevis area. However the hotel itself is way past it's prime and in great need of renovations and touch ups of general areas and rooms.
Staff were very friendly. Rooms were newly decorated but communal areas need updating. The fountain in the lobby sprays water on the floor making it a slip hazard and the lifts weren't working. There is a closed down hotel next door (the old MGM Royal) this was a bit off putting. But overall a pleasant stay. Top marks to the staff.
Nice place...good location. Doors and locks are old.
Very comfortable and clean
Lovely location. Staff worked hard.
I liked the general ambience, it had an understated and stylish Scottish feel.
The Hotel was excellent great location to visit Rannoch Moor Glencoe FortWilliam and Loch Katrine. Our Room was lovely and had everything that we needed in it all Staff go above and beyond for you they are very friendly and welcoming towards you the foid is excellent compliments to the Chef we have been to this Hotel four times and we love it we will be back again soon
Breakfast was cold and poor, had to move room (ie to not nice room) but this was not a problem for staff however on check out had to point out bare wires on electric towel radiator (due to broken cover) Had fish and chips in the evening would highly recommend
A large hotel in a beautiful scenic location. The public areas of this Hotel are well apointed and give a good impression. Nice seating and conservatories to the lobby and front. The service is exceptionally good. Staff helpful friendly and make you feel like a valued guest. What lets it down is the tiredness of old poor decor fixture and fittings in the room we had. Cracked sink ill fitting windows wind blows through and broken furniture. The hospitality tray excellent and bed room and bathroom clean and comfortable. Some rooms looked to have newer modern decor. If that can be raised for all it would make it much better
Very short stay late check in and early depart hotel and staff really helpful
Great hotel free room upgrade thrown in
First of all the Non Refundable Rule should be carefully looked at. We checked in and went to our room but first there was only one lift working and there was a bus load of tourists (Totally entitled to enjoy their holiday). The room had a large line of dust from behind the tv and all along the back of the unit. We were told not to open the window because of Midges. We booked a double bed room but had two single beds and when going to check out after being there for only half an hour there was staff moving beds and bases into rooms with no carpets and the strong smell of paint and the tourists were told that that was their rooms. We are definitely not snobs but we have stayed in all types of accommodation and this has to be the worst experience of looking to enjoy the four nights we booked
An amazing stay, beautiful room comfy beds, food was amazing too. Staff were first class
Breakfast really good. Arrived just before 10pm and could get nothing to eat :(. Maybe offer snacks at the bar for late arrivals..?
Exceeded expectations - surrounding area incredible
Cobwebs on the curtains, mould on bathroom ceiling, toilet didn’t flush so had to keep filling the cistern manually with water and mattress was very old and uncomfortable. Didn’t enjoy the stay at all. The room hadn’t been decorated since the 1980’s.
Very good stay. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. Hotel is nice, but a bit tired. Lovely and convenient location. Affordable rate for the area.
I have booked for double bed but they provided me two double beds. and toilet was leaking continuously. I need refund.
Excellent customer service! Our room was modern, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Service at breakfast was excellent (thanks Neena). Plenty of parking. Nice surroundings.
A nice place to stay. Getting a bit dated, but still OK. Very good breakfast buffet. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Pros - room was good, was allowed to take my bike into the room, location is excellent. Cons - no food at 8pm.
Good location and good breakfast buffet
This hotel has the best staff!!!
Very good service excellent position, lovely surrounding area. Could do with a bit of a clear up in the car park re rubbish. Good food, service a little slow. Overall would stay there again
Rooms are a bit dated but I really like this hotel staff all great and helpful and rooms clean and comfy
The Hotel and the Location was beautiful all of the Staff were friendly and helpful from checkin to departure they all went above and beyond for us our Breakfasts and Dinners were amazing compliments to the Chef also there are Restaurants nearby places to visit Rannoch Moor Loch Lubnaig and Loch Katrine we enjoyed this Hotel so much that we will be back again
The property location was beautiful. However, the hotel itself was subpar. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant, waited a half hour to be served, and the bun on my hamburger was tough and difficult to chew. Our beds were lumpy, pillows were heavy and rocksolid. The room was unbearably hot through the night, but opening the window would have meant letting bugs in. We heard music out in the halls around 7:30 AM and received a knock on our door from housekeeping around 8 AM (the housekeepers were playing music). Way too early and inconsiderate for travelers. We will not be back.
Very interesting building.
Electrical buzz in the first and second room they put me in. Finally found one free of it. Would only go back if I knew that had been addressed. M The staff were very friendly.
They took my booking, then cancelled at the last minute, so had to find somewhere else miles away....
The hotel was tired and showing its age - threadbare carpet in room . Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Leak in bathroom behind toilet. Evening food was poor - lasagna was terrible and lukewarm. Fish was overcooked, mushy peas were cold. Staff were helpful and apologetic. Breakfast had good choice and you are able to help your self.
