The co-owner Ivy was extremely helpful by offering tips for places to eat in Larne and even suggestions for things to do at our next destination. The breakfast was excellent and the room was very comfortable & well-equipped.

Sehr freundliche zuvorkommende Gastgeber, die ihre Gäste mit Passion umsorgen und sicherstellen, dass alle einen guten Aufenthalt genießen können. Man bekommt Ausflugs- und Restauranttipps. Das Auto kann man direkt an der Straße abstellen und dann zu Fuß ins Zentrum von Larne gehen. Sehr saubere Zimmer (Teppichboden) mit gut funktionierendem WLAN. USB Lademöglichkeit am Schreibtisch und direkt an den Nachttischleuchten. Beim Frühstück im hübschen hellen Erkerraum konnte man zwischen klassischem englischen Frühstück und einer Lachsvariante wählen. Dazu eine Müslibar und ein frisch zubereiteter Obstsalat für die Gäste. Was kann man sich in der Umgebung ansehen? In Larne legt die Fähre nach Straenraer / Schottland ab. Zum Gobbins Cliff Path auf der schönen Halbinsel Islandmagee mit dem Auto ca. 20 min. Von dort unbedingt noch zum süßen kleinen Hafen Portmuck mit Bade, Surf- und SUP Möglichkeit (Picknick selber mitbringen). Whitehead mit den bunten Häusern an der Promenade ca. 20 min, Carrickfergus mit dem Castle ca. 25 min, Belfast Zentrum ca. 45 min. Zum internationalen Flughafen bei Antrim ca. 35 min, zum Stadtflughafen BHD ca. 40 min. Also alles gut und schnell erreichbar. Wir würden hier wieder übernachten! Danke Ivy und Siebe für den schönen Aufenthalt, und hoffentlich geht es der Gartenpforte gut :-)

Die Zimmer sind etwas hellhörig. Das wussten wir aber vorher und es hat uns nicht gestört.

La struttura è caratteristica, una tipica guest house. Non è un albergo all'ultima moda (quindi se cercate il design moderno, ecc. non fa per voi), ma è estremamente ben tenuto e trasmette il calore della tradizione e della vera ospitalità. Le camere sono spaziose, comode e dotate di tutto quello che serve. La posizione è ottima, vicina al centro ma molto tranquilla. La colazione è preparata sul momento, varia e di qualità. Ma il valore aggiunto è la gentilezza e la dolcezza della sig.ra Ivy: tanti auguri per il futuro!

Wir haben auf unserer Reise entlang der Causeway Coastal Route eine Nacht im Derin Guest House verbracht und waren absolut begeistert. Unser Dreibettzimmer im ersten Stock war zwar etwas kompakt, für eine Übernachtung aber vollkommen ausreichend und problemlos. Die Lage ist wunderbar ruhig, sodass wir eine sehr erholsame Nacht hatten. Auch das Parken war völlig unkompliziert: Es gibt kostenlose Parkplätze direkt an der Straße vor dem Haus. Ein echtes Highlight war die überaus freundliche Gastgeberin! Das Frühstück war phantastisch – besonders die fantastischen Rühreier mit geräuchertem Lachs und der feine Kaffee haben unseren Morgen perfekt gemacht. Als Ausgangspunkt für die Küstenroute ideal gelegen und mit einem hervorragenden Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Lovely people and overall quality of the guest house far exceeded my expectations. Very tasteful decor and nice spacious bathroom. Owners even put breakfast things out for us for early start for ferry.

Honestly, nothing. Everything exceeded our expectations.

This period property is very well maintained, with bright and airy rooms. Ivy greeted us and provided all the information we could require. Booking.com doesn't provide the correct information for the twin rooms, as only one is on the ground floor. Ivy quickly changed us to the ground floor room which was lovely and cool in the heatwave. The room and ensuite were very clean and had all that we expected, plus a charging dock for mobiles etc. We really liked having shutters providing good light, privacy and dark enough at nighttime. Ample hangers and drawers. Hospitality tray with water, tea, coffee and biscuits. Breakfast was of a very good quality and the hot food was cooked fresh. Self serve cereal, fresh fruit salad and toast. We would definitely recommend this B&B and hope to return.

Derrin House is a good old fashioned guest house. Ivy met us when we arrived & explained everything we needed to know & took our order for breakfast the next day. We had parked on the road without any problem. The room & bathroom were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious.

Ivy hat uns sehr nett empfangen und auch am nächsten Morgen ein großartiges Frühstück serviert. Mein erstes vegetarisches English Breakfast. Sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Sie war eine sehr sympathische Gastgeberin. Lage vom Guest House sehr gut wenn die wunderschöne Küstenstraße hochfahren möchte. Belfast ist mit dem Auto etwa 35 Minuten entfernt.

Ivy and the team made our stay very comfortable. We were there for a family funeral, it was super important that the focus was on that event, having a peaceful place to return to was essential and Ivy and team delivered that for the family.

There was nothing we would feel we did not like, that is quite a string sentiment to state here? We would have liked to see a locally sourced Ulster fry predicates, but the breakfast we had was still adequate. Having family in the area, we would be spoilt on the Ulster fry they host for us.

The driveway is very tight for the size car we had! Just park on the street in front of the building unless you have a small car.

Haupthaus mit schöner Vintage-Atmosphäre. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Zwar weniger üppig als in anderen B&B's während unseres Roadtrips und z. T. portioniert, aber mengenmäßig absolut ausreichend und eine gute Grundlage für einen Tag unterwegs. Sehr leckere vegetarische Frühstück-Alternative. Gemütlicher eigener Aufenthaltsraum für die Gäste (bis 22:00 nutzbar). Gute Anbindung mit ÖPNV an Belfast (ca. 50 Minuten), Haltestelle in unmittelbarer Nähe. Die Vermieterin gab Tipps zu Belfast und für Restaurants.

Leider wurden unsere Erwartungen an das Zimmer nicht erfüllt, was die Ausstattung/ die Atmosphäre betrifft. Wir waren in einem Anbau untergebracht (Zimmer 1). Das Zimmer war im Vergleich zu denen im Haupthaus (dort befand sich das zweite von uns gebuchte Zimmer) weniger groß und weit weniger ansprechend ausgestattet. Die Fenster waren klein, hoch liegend und vermittelten durch die Lamellen- Läden einen Zellen-artigen Charakter. Das Zimmer war dadurch auch eher dunkel. Für zwei Nächte und angesichts der Tatsache, dass wir tagsüber unterwegs waren, ging es jedoch. Für einen längeren Aufenthalt empfehle ich aber, dieses Zimmer (twin beds) nicht zu buchen, sondern auf eine Unterkunft im Haupthaus zu achten. Haupthaus sehr hellhörig - wen das stört.

This was the first time I stayed in the Derrin Guest house. It was beyond my expectations for a B&B. The house is a lovely big old house in excellent condition. The rooms were spacious, clean and with good facilities. Breakfast each morning was delicious. We were asked the evening before to chose a new choice for the morning. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this guest house to anyone. We will stay there next time we visit Larne.

Good location near to the town centre & Town railway station. Easy 10 minute walk to the ferry terminal. I had an early start, so I missed the breakfast, but was offered an alternative - I politely declined, in favour of a fry-up on the boat.
